Revitalize Your Arms: Top 6 Standing Exercises to Firm Up Sagging Arms in Just 30 Days for Those Over 60

A Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) has outlined six effective standing exercises designed to combat sagging arms and enhance upper-body strength for individuals over 60.

Often, sagging arms result from muscles not receiving targeted attention. While the triceps, located at the back of the upper arm, are frequently a focal point, the biceps, shoulders, and upper back also play crucial roles in the firmness and tone of your arms. When these areas lose strength, not only can the upper arms appear less toned, but daily activities such as lifting, reaching, pushing, and carrying can become more challenging.

For those over 60, an arm-focused workout should encompass more than just bicep curls. It’s essential to include exercises for the biceps, triceps, shoulders, and upper back to provide a well-rounded approach. This combination not only enhances the appearance of your arms but also supports overall posture and upper-body strength, avoiding excessive focus on a single muscle group.

In my experience coaching numerous individuals, significant improvements are often achieved when a straightforward, consistent arm routine is followed. Within just 30 days, one can build momentum, increase muscle activation, and experience greater control in the upper body. The following six standing exercises, which incorporate bands and dumbbells, effectively target various arm muscles while remaining simple enough to maintain regular practice.

I’ve coached plenty of people who made better progress once they gave their arms a simple plan and repeated it consistently. Thirty days is enough time to build momentum, improve muscle engagement, and start to notice more control in the upper body. The six standing exercises below use bands and dumbbells to train the arms from multiple angles while keeping the setup simple enough to stick with.

Standing Band Curls

Standing band curls train your biceps while your shoulders and core help keep your body steady. The band adds more resistance as you curl, so your arms have to keep working through the top of the rep instead of relaxing. Stronger biceps help add shape to the front of the upper arm and support pulling tasks like carrying bags or lifting objects. Keep your elbows still and make the muscle do the work instead of swinging your arms.

Muscles Trained: Biceps, forearms, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand on the middle of a resistance band with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Hold the band handles or ends with your palms facing forward.
  3. Brace your core and keep your elbows close to your sides.
  4. Curl your hands toward your shoulders.
  5. Squeeze your biceps at the top.
  6. Lower your hands with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Alternating band curls, hammer-grip band curls, slow-tempo curls

Form Tip: Keep your upper arms still and avoid leaning back while curling.

Standing Dumbbell Front Raise

Standing dumbbell front raises train the front of your shoulders, helping build a stronger frame for your upper arms. Every rep asks your core to stay braced so your torso doesn’t rock as the weights lift. Stronger front delts help with reaching, lifting items in front of you, and keeping your shoulders more capable during daily tasks. Use light dumbbells and keep the control clean, because momentum can turn this move into a swing rather than a shoulder exercise.

Muscles Trained: Front delts, upper chest, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand.
  2. Hold the dumbbells in front of your thighs.
  3. Brace your core and keep your shoulders down.
  4. Raise the dumbbells in front of you to shoulder height.
  5. Pause briefly at the top.
  6. Lower the dumbbells with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Alternating front raises, single-dumbbell front raises, slower front raises

Form Tip: Stop at shoulder height and keep your ribs down.

Band Pull-Aparts

Band pull-aparts target the rear shoulders and upper back, helping your arms look stronger by improving posture and shoulder position. Pulling the band apart forces the muscles behind your shoulders to work, an area many people neglect when they only train curls and presses. Stronger rear delts and upper back muscles help your shoulders sit better, which can make the arms look firmer and more supported. Move slowly and squeeze between your shoulder blades at the end of each rep.

Muscles Trained: Rear delts, upper back, rhomboids, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall and hold a resistance band at chest height.
  2. Place your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and keep a soft bend in your elbows.
  4. Pull the band apart until your hands move toward your sides.
  5. Squeeze your shoulder blades together.
  6. Return to the starting position with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Underhand pull-aparts, diagonal pull-aparts, paused pull-aparts

Form Tip: Keep your shoulders down and avoid shrugging.

Standing Single-Arm Shoulder Press

Standing single-arm shoulder presses train your shoulders and triceps, while your core helps keep your body from leaning. Pressing one dumbbell at a time creates an uneven load, so your midsection has to stay engaged as your arm drives overhead. The shoulder and triceps work together here, which helps build the top and back of the arm in one movement. This exercise also carries over to reaching overhead, putting items on shelves, and keeping your upper body strong after 60.

Muscles Trained: Shoulders, triceps, upper back, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with your feet hip-width apart.
  2. Hold one dumbbell at shoulder height.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Press the dumbbell overhead until your arm is straight.
  5. Lower the dumbbell back to shoulder height with control.
  6. Complete all reps, then switch sides.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per side. Rest for 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Neutral-grip press, alternating shoulder press, half-kneeling single-arm press

Form Tip: Keep your ribs down and avoid leaning away from the dumbbell.

Standing Two-Dumbbell Triceps Extensions

Standing two-dumbbell triceps extensions train the back of your upper arms, which is usually the main area people want to tighten. Holding one dumbbell in each hand gives each arm its own work, so your stronger side can’t take over as easily. The triceps have to control the lowering phase and extend the elbows at the top, which helps build firmness where arm sagging is most noticeable. Keep the motion smooth and have the elbows do the bending, rather than letting your shoulders drift around.

Muscles Trained: Triceps, shoulders, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand.
  2. Raise the dumbbells overhead with your arms straight.
  3. Brace your core and keep your elbows pointing forward.
  4. Bend your elbows to lower the dumbbells behind your head.
  5. Extend your arms to lift the dumbbells back overhead.
  6. Repeat with steady control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 45 to 60 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Single-dumbbell overhead extension, alternating extensions, slower tempo extensions

Form Tip: Keep your elbows close and avoid flaring them out.

Standing Dumbbell Lateral Raise

Standing dumbbell lateral raises train the side delts, which help give the shoulders more shape and make the upper arms look more defined. The movement doesn’t need heavy weight to work well. Lighter dumbbells, slower reps, and clean control usually create a better burn without letting the traps take over. Stronger side delts support better arm position, shoulder stability, and the rounded look that helps tighten the upper arms.

Muscles Trained: Side delts, upper traps, core

How to Do It:

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand.
  2. Keep your arms at your sides with a slight bend in your elbows.
  3. Brace your core and relax your shoulders.
  4. Raise the dumbbells out to your sides.
  5. Stop when your arms reach shoulder height.
  6. Lower the dumbbells with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 45 seconds between each set.

Best Variations: Single-arm lateral raises, seated lateral raises, paused lateral raises

Form Tip: Lead with your elbows and avoid shrugging your shoulders.

How to Tighten Your Arms in 30 Days After 60

Thirty days gives you enough time to build momentum, improve strength, and start feeling more firmness in your arms. The key is training the right areas often enough: biceps for shape, triceps for the back of the arms, shoulders for the frame, and upper back for posture. Keep the weights manageable, slow your reps, and make the final few reps feel challenging without compromising your form.

  • Train your triceps directly: The triceps make up a large portion of the upper arm, so overhead extensions deserve real focus. Move slowly on the way down and fully extend your arms at the top.
  • Use controlled reps instead of momentum: Swinging through curls, raises, or presses takes work away from the muscles you’re trying to train. Slow reps keep tension on the arms and shoulders longer.
  • Hit the shoulders from more than one angle: Front raises, lateral raises, and presses train different parts of the shoulder. Stronger shoulders help the upper arms look firmer and more defined.
  • Support your arm work with upper-back training: Band pull-aparts help posture and shoulder position. Better alignment can make the arms look stronger while also helping your shoulders feel better.
  • Repeat the routine consistently: Aim for 2 to 4 sessions per week over the next month. Add reps, use a slightly stronger band, or pick up slightly heavier dumbbells when the sets start to feel too easy.

A month of focused work can change how your arms feel, how your sleeves fit, and how much strength you notice during daily tasks. Keep each rep clean and give the biceps, triceps, shoulders, and upper back a steady reason to respond.

Mother of Rapper Foolio Shares Heartfelt Reaction as Final Conviction is Made in Son’s Tragic Murder Case

0

Alicia Andrews, a 23-year-old, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence for her involvement in the planned attack on rapper Julio Foolio in Tampa, marking the conclusion of legal proceedings for those charged in the ambush.

In Jacksonville, Florida, Andrews was deemed guilty of manslaughter on October 31, a lesser charge than the original accusation of first-degree murder. While she was cleared of conspiracy to commit murder, Andrews testified that her participation was coerced by fear of her boyfriend, Isaiah Jermaine Chance. She claimed to be unaware of any murderous intent, believing they were merely out to get food, and maintained that she remained in the car, oblivious to the unfolding events.

However, prosecutors painted a different picture, arguing that Andrews played an active role in the incident. They accused her of acting as a lookout, aiding the crew in tracking Foolio—whose birth name is Charles Andrew Jones II—during his 26th birthday celebration. The ambush resulted in Foolio being shot and killed outside a hotel near the University of South Florida, with three others from his group sustaining injuries.

She told the court she thought they were going to get food and that she stayed in the car unaware of what was happening.

Prosecutors said otherwise. They said she acted as a lookout, helping the crew track Foolio ― whose real name was Charles Andrew Jones II ― during his 26th birthday celebration before he was shot and killed outside a hotel near the University of South Florida. Three others in his entourage were wounded.

At Friday’s sentencing hearing, May 22, the judge heard from Foolio’s mother, Sandrikas Mays.

“My son was hunted, followed and ultimately murdered in what authorities described as a coordinated plot involving multiple individuals,” she said, according to Court TV. “It is extremely painful to hear Alicia Andrews portray herself as someone who didn’t know what was going on. They could have turned around, but they still carried on the plan to hunt my son down like a deer in the woods. … My son’s life mattered. He was not disposable.”

Foolio was a popular, controversial rapper affiliated with the 6 Block gang and also linked with KTA. He often rapped about being shot or friends who were murdered and fallen rivals. The defendants were with ATK and 1200.

Their ongoing feud climaxed when the group tracked his social media posts about where and when he would be performing and celebrating that weekend, authorities said. They followed him to his hotel where he and his group were met with gunfire.

Gathright and the Murphys were deemed the shooters. Court records and security and dashcam videos at the scene indicate Chance and Andrews were serving as lookouts. Cellphone and license plate reader evidence also documented the group’s communications and whereabouts.

Trump Crushes California Winery’s MAGA Theme in Explosive Trademark Battle

0

A California winery, known for its MAGA-themed offerings, finds itself embroiled in a trademark dispute with President Trump over its wine collection that pays homage to the former president.

Paul Johnson, the proprietor of the Republican Red Winery located in Monterey, spoke with The California Post about his “45-47” collection. This collection, which cleverly references Trump as both the 45th and 47th President of the United States, was introduced in January 2024, prior to Trump securing his second term.

The collection showcases a variety of red and white wines, including the distinct “45-47 Republican Red Special Edition” and a crisp “45-47 Chardonnay.”

The wine labels boast a description that reads, “Bold, unapologetic, and all-American, our 45-47 wine collection is a powerhouse, just like the man who inspired it.”

In response, companies linked to Trump — namely Trump Wine Marks, LLC, CIC Operations LLC, and DTTM Operations LLC — have filed a claim with the US Patent and Trademark Office. Their goal is to prevent Republican Red from trademarking the “45-47” name, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

In June 2025, Johnson said he filed for the “45-47” trademark after he saw a company marketing 45-47 Whiskey. The Trump team said it only recently became aware of it, the outlet reported.

“This is a simple misunderstanding, in my opinion,” Johnson told the Post. “I created and launched the 45-47 collection in January 2024, 11 months before Trump became our 47th President, even before he was the Republican nominee.”

Trump’s attorneys argue that using the “45-47” name could create “confusion” for consumers that the wine is somehow affiliated with Trump. It also could create a “false suggestion of a connection” of the wines being endorsed by the president, who famously doesn’t drink alcohol, the Daily Mail reported.

“I had a cordial conversation with Eric Trump in October 2024. He was aware of our 45-47 bottle and had no issue with it at that time,” Johnson said.

“Since then, obviously, the Trump Organization has filed for many trademarks. We were issued a patent mark a few months ago for our 45-47 label in the wine category.”

“The Trump Org simply requested the patent office retract the mark — it was not a cease and desist letter,” he added. “I wouldn’t be surprised if this was just an automatic action by their legal team to protect the 45-47 rights across all industries.”

Johnson’s winery also sells a variety of other Trump-themed wines, including Chardonnays labeled “Drain the Swamp” and “Drill Baby Drill.”  He also has a red named in honor of the actions the US took against Iran called “Epic Fury.”

“Our support of President Trump is unwavering,” Johnson said. “We know that he and his family support small business like ours that are dedicated to producing American Made products.”

He told the Post it was a simple business matter that he anticipates being quickly and easily resolved.

Johnson recently talked about the challenges of selling his wines in stores because of his Republican support.

“The retail stores won’t carry us, they won’t allow us in there. That’s why we’re an online company only because the word ‘Republican’ is in our name and they’re afraid that the Libs here in California and across the country will come in and make a stink about it,” Johnson told Newsmax.

A message on the winery website said that the owner’s “commitment to quality and patriotism is evident in every bottle produced at Republican Red Winery.”

“We believe it’s time to restore sanity to the discussion about conservatives and what it means to be Republican,” it read. “It’s time to give voice to the silent majority.”

White House Lockdown: Shocking Shooting Incident Sparks Chaos and Safety Concerns

0

On Saturday evening, a suspect launched a shooting near the White House, hitting a bystander, before being neutralized by the Secret Service.

An insider from law enforcement revealed to the Daily Mail that the suspect fired multiple rounds after reaching the area’s perimeter.

In response to the unfolding incident, the White House was swiftly locked down with the President still on the premises.

The assailant discharged three bullets, injuring a civilian, before Secret Service agents intervened and subdued him.

Both the shooter and the injured bystander were rushed to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

CBS News reported a security booth was the gunman’s target, although no agents were hurt.

Journalists reporting from the White House were left scrambling for cover as they reported hearing 20 to 30 rounds fired.

The reporters were evacuated from the North Lawn and raced to safety inside the press briefing room where Secret Service agents ordered everyone to ‘get down!’

Television footage from the scene showed heavily armed agents roaming the perimeter with the FBI now on the scene.

Video showed ABC White House Correspondent Selena Wang ducking and hiding as the gunfire erupted.

‘I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots,’ she said.

‘It sounded like dozens of gunshots. We were told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now,’ she added.

Wang’s video shows her speaking for a few seconds about Trump’s statements earlier Saturday about a potential Iran deal.

As the sounds of gunfire are heard in the background, Wang´s eyes grow wider, and she ducks down in the media tent, which is among those situated in a line along the White House driveway where broadcasters film their reports.

On X, Wang’s video had been shared thousands of times as of Saturday evening, and viewed at least 3 million times.

The president was also  inside the White House at the time as he was working on an Iran peace deal with Middle Eastern leaders inside the Oval Office.

The press pool had been dismissed about an hour before the shots were heard, with just a few broadcast journalists remaining.

Bettina Anderson Reveals First Look at Wedding Bands Following Nuptials with Donald Trump Jr.

Bettina Anderson recently captured a touching moment by sharing an intimate photo of her wedding ring, following her marriage to Donald Trump Jr.

On Saturday, she delighted her Instagram followers with a black and white image posted on her Stories. The photograph tenderly depicted the couple holding hands, symbolizing their new union. Anderson showcased a sleek wedding band, while her husband’s hand, displaying a cigar band style ring, gently covered hers.

Accompanying the heartfelt image, Anderson wrote, “Forever yours, forever mine,” and included a white heart emoji. She also made sure to tag her new spouse in the post, adding a personal touch to the sentimental moment.

The couple’s official union took place on Thursday, with the marriage certificate filed in Palm Beach, Florida, as confirmed by Page Six. This milestone marks the beginning of their journey together as husband and wife.

The pic came after the couple legally tied the knot on Thursday. Page Six obtained a copy of the marriage certificate filed in Palm Beach, Florida.

The couple then exchanged vows front of around 40 people, including Don Jr.’s siblings Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany Trump, and their spouses, and Don Jr.’s six children with ex-wife Vanessa Trump.

Close friends and family of Anderson were also in attendance.

“Don and Bettina are wonderful together,” Eric Trump told Page Six on Saturday.

“I’m so proud to have witnessed so much of their journey as a couple. They truly light up around each other and it’s been amazing watching their story unfold. Couldn’t be happier for them on their special day.”

Don Jr.’s father, president Donald Trump, previously announced he wouldn’t be able to make it to the intimate event.

“While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,” he wrote via Truth Social on Friday.

“I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time.”

The Commander in Chief concluded the post, “Congratulations to Don and Bettina! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

On Thursday, the president had still left room for the possibility of being there, though he noted it was “not good timing” for him.

“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” he explained to reporters in the Oval Office.

“This is not good timing for me,” he continued. “Everything called Iran and other things.”

He added, “Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage.”

Page Six exclusively revealed on Monday that the couple would marry in the tropical locale over Memorial Day weekend.

Don Jr., 48, proposed to Anderson, 39, in December at Camp David. Sources divulged to Page Six that they were eyeing a celebration at the White House, but nixed the idea amid the ongoing war with Iran and a general awareness that it “wouldn’t be well-received” under the circumstances.

The groom is the first child of Donald and his first wife, the late Ivana Trump. He finalized his divorce from Vanessa Trump in 2019.

Trump Announces Progress on Iran Deal Negotiations, While Iran Challenges Hormuz Statements

0

IN BRIEF

  • Deal would include reopening Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, but Iran said his assertion is “inconsistent with reality”.
  • Iran is seeking an end to US blockade, sanctions relief and and supervision of strait.

On Sunday, former US President Donald Trump announced that a significant agreement with Iran was nearing completion. This potential deal would involve reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, although he noted that the agreement still required final touches.

Trump shared on his Truth Social platform, “An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries.” He mentioned several Middle Eastern nations alongside Türkiye and Pakistan, which acted as a mediator.

He added that among the key elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, a crucial passage for global oil shipments.

However, shortly after Trump’s statement, Iran’s Fars news agency reported a different perspective. It stated that the Strait of Hormuz would continue to be managed by Iran, reflecting the latest communication between Tehran and Washington.

The Iranian agency labeled Trump’s claim of reopening the strait as part of the “largely negotiated” deal as “incomplete and inconsistent with reality.”

Among the Middle East countries whose leaders joined a call on Sunday to discuss the deal were Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain, Trump said.

He added that he had a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it “likewise, went very well”.

“Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly,” Trump said.

His optimistic post came after Iranian officials said gaps remained between the parties, and that the dispute over its nuclear program would not be part of the initial talks. Iran said it was finalising a 14-point framework for a deal.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei noted what he called “a trend towards rapprochement”, but said “it does not necessarily mean that we and the United States will reach an agreement on the important issues”.

“Our intention was first to draft a memorandum of understanding, a kind of framework agreement composed of 14 clauses,” he said on state television.

Baqaei added that he hoped the details of a final agreement could be worked out “within a reasonable timeframe between 30 to 60 days” after the framework is finalised.

‘Another act of folly’

Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had warned earlier that Washington would face a tough response if it resumed hostilities, after US media reports raised the prospect of new strikes and Iranian officials accused the US side of making “excessive demands”.

“Our armed forces have rebuilt themselves during the ceasefire period in such a way that if Trump commits another act of folly and restarts the war, it will certainly be more crushing and bitter for the United States than on the first day of the war,” Ghalibaf said.

He issued the warning after meeting in Tehran with Pakistan’s army chief field marshal Asim Munir, a leading figure in international efforts to negotiate an end to the war, which broke out after the United States and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February.

Weeks of negotiations, including historic face-to-face talks hosted by Islamabad, have still not produced a permanent resolution or restored full access to the Strait of Hormuz, choking vast quantities of global oil supply.

On Saturday, a rep for the Busch family confirmed the late racer’s cause of death to NBC News, telling the network that the late athlete died of pneumonia that progressed “into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.” Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, and his two children: son Brexton and daughter Lennix.

The same day that Busch’s cause of death was confirmed, his racing team paid a silent tribute to the athlete at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“A silent garage pays its respect as the No. 22 @RCRacing Chevrolet unloads at @CLTMotorSpdway,” NASCAR wrote via X, alongside a video showing the late driver’s team unloading his vehicle.

The blue, white and red Chevrolet adorned with the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen logo was unloaded in complete silence. The car’s number was changed from No. 8 to No. 33, though a small No. 8 decal was seen on the door of the vehicle.

More details about the circumstances of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch’s death have come to light. Hours before Busch died at age 41, a 911 call obtained by TMZ reveals that Busch suffered a medical emergency at a training facility in North Carolina. “I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot,” the caller said. […]

On Friday, NASCAR announced that the RCR team “opted to shelf the No. 8” that Busch last drove, switching to the car No. 33 for the foreseeable future. The team indicated it will reserve Busch’s No. 8 for his son “when he is ready.”

In Governor Stein’s Friday announcement, the politician urged others to honor the NASCAR driver by also lowering their flags.

“Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated,” the announcement read in part.

Martin O’Neill’s Triumph: Celtic Secures League and Scottish Cup Double with 3-1 Victory over Dunfermline

How a season that seemed destined for disaster turned into one celebrating a second trophy under the gleaming Hampden sun remains a mystery.

The question of what comes next after manager Martin O’Neill’s impressive feats is equally puzzling.

As time passes and O’Neill remains noncommittal about his future at the club, it seems increasingly likely that offering the 74-year-old another contract might be the simplest choice for the board.

Fans clearly adore him, as demonstrated by the enthusiastic chants of his name during the Scottish Cup presentation. The team has also thrived under his leadership during this remarkable third tenure as manager.

Even Neil Lennon, at the final whistle, acknowledged O’Neill by lifting his hand to the away fans, a gesture of deep respect for his former manager and mentor, who has revitalized a club that was in turmoil and struggling for the past four months.

Despite his background, the Northern Irishman faced a real battle when walking back into the wreckage left by Wilfried Nancy before his inevitable January departure after just 33 days in charge.

Yet, amid the celebratory atmosphere within the green-and-white legions when it was clear this final was done and dusted, there were still some firm signs that supporters of the champions want significant change over the summer.

On 65 minutes, a chant of Sack The Board rose, accompanied by banners featuring the crossed-out faces of major shareholder Dermot Desmond and prominent directors. Shortly afterwards, another banner with the words ‘Time For Change! Time’s Up Celtic Board! Time To Go!’.

When the joy of the present is overtaken by the process of looking towards the longer-term future, the question is whether O’Neill, so heavily aligned with Desmond, fits in with the kind of modernising approach desired by a fanbase that spent much of this term in a state of mutiny. And is likely to go back there again.

In many ways, this shaped up as a day of glorious farewells. Daizen Maeda, almost as big a saviour as the boss himself, opened the scoring with his ninth goal in seven games ahead of what will surely be a summer departure. The ‘Arigato Daizen’ sign after time-up recognised that.

Arne Engels scored the second and could be on his way too if another offer in the region of the £25million Nottingham Forest put on the table in January emerges.

Kelechi Iheanacho, who netted the third before Pars sub Josh Cooper’s late consolation, might be offski too. No one quite knows what the future holds for skipper Callum McGregor either.

As O’Neill himself admits, a major reset is needed at Parkhead. Whether he’s going to be there remains a major focus. His body language after this victory was low-key. His reaction at time-up was to embrace Lennon and speak in his ear.

After that, he spoke with coach Mark Fotheringham and looked into the stand to wave to wellwishers. As the celebrations went on at the on-field podium, he chatted to assistant Shaun Maloney. Later on, they gathered for a special photo on the pitch with all the backroom staff.

Maloney’s real job, of course, is Professional Pathways Manager. Rumours have been going round of late, though, that he might be in the hunt for a more important role behind the scenes going forward. Now the season’s over, the time for clarity on Celtic’s path forward is upon us.

No matter what has happened in recent weeks, it feels like now *would* be an apposite time for O’Neill to walk away, on top of the world, legendary status assured, calls for statues out the front of the stadium continuing unabated.

He wants his future cleared up. He has already called for the managerial situation to be sorted out ASAP. That has surely got to happen this week. As a mark of respect to him and everything he’s done, as much as anything else.

For his old captain Lennon, there will be plenty to reflect upon too. He will no doubt have hoped for more from his youthful squad, particularly in the first 45. They made it to Hampden the hard way, beating Premiership opposition in Hibs, Aberdeen and Falkirk on the journey.

The manager has always admitted they have a tendency to blow hot and cold, though, and they never really did themselves justice here until it was all too late.

You could argue Celtic didn’t let them. After a strength-sapping end to the league campaign that required seven straight victories, it would have been understandable if the champions looked a little leggy.

They didn’t. They were on it.

The reality is that Dunfermline’s hopes evaporated just nine minutes in. Had a poked effort from Callumn Morrison crossed the goal-line after a mix-up in communication between Alistair Johnston and goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo crossed the goal-line, things could have been different. They would have had something to hold onto and fight for.

The chance came about through a long ball that Johnston didn’t deal with. Sinisalo was off his line and Morrison got a foot in to send it trundling towards goal. Liam Scales, a strong performer this term, reacted superbly, though, and did so well to hack the ball off the line.

Nine minutes later, the die was cast. Maeda had already caused some serious issues for John Tod, who ended up hooked at the break, in the early part of the encounter when getting in behind him to latch onto a forward pass from Callum McGregor and going down in the area under the central defender’s challenge.

There were some shouts for a spot-kick. Referee Steven McLean and his team saw no reason to take action. It was an early indication, however, that Celtic were open to using direct means to capitalise on Maeda’s pace in behind and that’s how the opener arrived.

Johnston played a ball over the top from well inside his own half, Tod missed his attempt to boot it clear and Maeda was in like Flint to leave himself one-on-one with the keeper. Not always the calmest of characters in such situations, his chipped finish over the advancing Aston Oxborough was sublime.

Where the youngest of the Tod brothers – older sibling Andy was employed further up the field – has to take his share of the blame for the opener, questions had to be asked of Oxborough at the second.

With nine minutes of the opening 45 remaining, McGregor picked up the ball 25 yards or so out and played a square ball to Engels.

The Belgian made clean contact with his effort, but there was something puzzling about the way it whizzed low into the net with the Dunfermline No 1 appearing almost rooted to the spot.

He just didn’t seem set and prepared. It has to go down as another painfully easy concession.

From that point, there was never going to be any realistic way back. Lennon made a triple substitution at half time – introducing Shea Kearney, Chris Kane and Zak Rudden for Tod, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Morrison – and there was a very definite rally that saw Charlie Gilmour head wide from a corner before Alfons Amade, on for Nurudeen Abdullai, sent an effort from distance just off target after the hour.

Kelechi Iheanacho replaced James Forrest for Celtic and had the ball in the net on 66 minutes, but linesman Frank Connor was correct in identifying that Yang Hyun-jun had strayed offside before setting him up.

Undeterred, the Nigerian made it 3-0 17 minutes from time, moving onto a ball from Benjamin Nygren inside the area and showing great footwork to jink past Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen before evading Oxborough and converting.

Fair play to the Pars for not allowing it to become a procession after that, though. With 10 minutes to play, Cooper, only just on the park, moved onto a deflected Gilmour effort in an unmarked position and stroked the ball home at the near post.

Of course, no one was going to take the spotlight away from O’Neill and this most unlikely double. Football moves quickly, though. And from this morning, the need for Celtic to spell out what now follows becomes imperative.

Livvy Dunne’s Candid Reaction to Paul Skenes’ Error Caught on Video

Even celebrities have their relatable moments, and Olivia “Livvy” Dunne recently reminded baseball fans of this fact.

The former LSU gymnastics standout was spotted supporting her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, during his start for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Saturday.

Dunne was fully engaged in the action as cameras captured her cheering, snapping photos and videos of Skenes, and even letting slip some colorful language.

When a Blue Jays player hit a ball that brought the crowd to their feet, Dunne was visibly frustrated, mouthing “f–k” twice before leaning back in her seat.

The commentators were quick to catch the moment.

“Paul Skenes is on the mound today and his girlfriend — the equally famous, maybe more famous — Livvy Dunne is here,” the SportsNet TV commentator said. “She was a gymnast at LSU. They met in college and she has eight zillion on social media right now. I believe she attends almost every single game of his and she is invested.

“She is not just sitting around and looking around. She is into the game. Emotional and occasionally profane. But she is invested in the successes and rare failures of her Cy Young award winning boyfriend Paul Skenes.”

The reaction came from early on in Skenes’ start in the Pirates’ eventual 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

To open the game, Skenes gave up a leadoff home run to George Springer, who ripped the ball 396 feet to left field for an early Toronto lead.

Dunne certainly wasn’t a fan of the moment.

Nor likely as more trouble came in the sixth inning when the Blue Jays found an offensive spark and scored three runs to earn a 4-1 lead.

After five-plus innings, the two-time All-Star and the 2024 Rookie of the Year allowed nine hits for four runs (all earned). He also logged two strikeouts and one walk.

It was Skenes’ lowest strikeout tally since recording just one in Pittsburgh’s season opening 11-7 loss to the Mets. Skenes only lasted 2/3 innings as he gave up four hits and five earned runs at Citi Field.

Skenes has returned the support, including when he shared a positive reaction to her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2023.

“I texted him. I was like, ‘Hey, the SI photos are out.’ And he’s like, ‘Where can I see them?’” Dunne told People recently.

“He loved it. Yeah, he loved it. He always does,” she added.

The couple has been together since 2023.
