In the dropdown menu, select a workflow – YouTube Shorts, YouTube Explainer, recent events video, or script to video. Each requires specific information, essential for understanding the Tik Tok automation business we’ll explore later.

## Crafting Engaging Videos: A Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s consider creating a YouTube explainer, an excellent choice for a faceless YouTube channel. Specify the video duration (e.g., 10 minutes) and provide detailed information about the video. For instance, create a video about “Nine Crazy Facts About Cats.” Be creative in defining the overall look – start with a captivating fact, ensure humor, engagement, and dynamism, and end with a question for audience interaction.

Customization continues with background music and voiceover settings. Select the music type, gender, and accent for the voiceover. Subtitles are optional but add a layer of engagement. After hitting ‘Continue,’ the magic begins as Invideo AI transforms your detailed prompt into a video. Want to customize further? Invideo AI allows you to tweak various elements, from audience selection to the video’s look and feel.

Urgent Cheese Recall: Dangerous Illness Outbreak Leads to Hospitalizations

0

In the United States, a recall has been issued for certain raw cheeses connected to an E.coli outbreak that has affected nine individuals and resulted in three hospitalizations.

Although health officials initially warned about these products on March 15, the manufacturer initially refuted these claims. Now, after nearly three weeks, the company has reluctantly initiated a recall, though it has not encompassed all products under suspicion.

RAW FARM, the company responsible, announced it is recalling some of its cheese products “under protest,” maintaining that it disputes the suggested link between its products and the E.coli cases. The company has not issued a recall for its raw milk, which is also suspected in the outbreak.

Interviews with seven affected individuals revealed that five had eaten RAW FARM cheese, and two had consumed its milk, highlighting a potential connection.

The recall specifically targets the brand’s cheddar cheese, available in block or shredded form. This includes their lightly salted and jalapeno cheddar varieties, sold in 8oz, 16oz, or 80oz packages.

In the release, the company said that ‘no other’ RAW FARM-brand products were being recalled at this time.

Sicknesses linked to the products have been reported in three states: California, Florida and Texas. The products were sold at Sprouts, alongside other grocery stores. Sprouts has already pulled the products from shelves.

Tests showed people sickened after consuming the products were infected with the E.coli strain O157:H7, which raises the risk of kidney problems. This is the strain that was also behind a major McDonald’s recall in 2024 that led to one death and 34 hospitalizations.

Of hospitalized patients, one has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious kidney condition that can cause life-long complications. Over half of the patients sickened in the outbreak are under five years old.

RAW FARM, which claims to be the nation’s largest producer of raw milk, is run by Mark McAfee, an advisor to Robert F Kennedy Jr’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement.

The products were made using raw milk, which is milk that has not been pasteurized, a process used since the 1900s where milk is heated to 161F (71.5C) for several seconds to kill any bacteria that may be present.

The CDC warns that drinking or eating products made with raw milk raises the risk of consumers being exposed to germs, including E.coli, listeria and salmonella.

Children under five years old, people over 65, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk from the pathogens.

People are being advised not to consume the cheeses and to throw them out immediately or return them to sellers for a full refund.

In a previous update, anyone who had recently eaten the cheeses was urged to monitor themselves for symptoms, including a fever at 102F (39C), diarrhea that persists for more than three days and vomiting.

Consumers were also told to throw out the affected cheeses and to wash surfaces that they have come into contact with using hot soapy water or a dishwasher.

No deaths have been reported, but officials are urging anyone who believes they were sickened by the cheese to come forward.

The RAW FARM cheddar cheese simply shredded, shown above, has also been linked to the outbreak

Shown above are the two products linked to the outbreak. These are the RAW FARM cheddar cheese block and the RAW FARM cheddar cheese simply shredded

The recalled cheese products include RAW FARM’s Lightly Salted Cheddar Block, sold in either 8oz, 16oz or 80oz sizes, its Lightly Salted Cheddar Shred, sold in 8oz, its Bag of Original Cheddar Shred, sold in 80oz, and its Jalapeno Cheddar Block, sold as 8oz or 16oz.

The cheeses have best before dates up to late September this year.

The FDA has published their batch and barcode numbers on its website.

The agency said: ‘At the request of the FDA, RAW FARM is issuing a Voluntary Recall of the batches of cheese below and any batches produced prior to these dates.’

After the alert over the cheeses was first published on March 15, the FDA ordered tests of products sold by RAW FARM.

None of these tests came back positive for E.coli, the agency and the manufacturer reported.

It is possible, however, that officials may have missed a batch that was contaminated.

Health officials say they have also conducted an inspection of the company’s premises.

It was not clear how the E.coli may have entered the cheeses, but this can happen if a product is accidentally contaminated with the feces from an animal.

In a statement released last week, a RAW FARM spokesman said: ‘It’s official. One-hundred percent of the results are negative. No positives at retail, from our sampling or the government sampling.

‘Stay tuned. I’m very thankful for our hardworking food safety team that’s been making sure that everything’s going great.

‘Great update, great week, 100 percent all negative.’

Safely Dye and Enjoy Edible Easter Eggs with These Expert Tips

With Easter fast approaching, the tradition of egg decorating is in full swing in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Whether you’re adding vibrant hues to eggs for your festive table or preparing them for a lively egg hunt, adhering to food safety practices is crucial. This ensures both the reduction of germs and the preservation of egg quality.

You have some time to eat your eggs

Eggs are surprisingly durable, so there’s no immediate need to consume them right away.

Kara Lynch, a food safety expert from Michigan State University Extension, notes, “Stores tend to replenish their egg supplies swiftly, so it’s advisable to eat eggs within three to five weeks of purchase.”

Allowing eggs to age slightly can also be advantageous, as older eggs are often easier to peel. This is due to the natural shrinking process that creates an air pocket between the egg and its shell over time.

Hard boil your eggs

Egg processors clean eggs before they reach store shelves, but it also is important to thoroughly cook eggs to reduce the risk of foodborne illness, especially salmonella. That bacteria lives naturally in the gastrointestinal and reproductive tracts of chickens, said Kimberly Baker, associate extension specialist at Clemson University.

To cook your eggs, place them in a saucepan, fill it with water and bring it to a boil. After that, put the lid on, turn the heat off and let it sit for about 12 minutes. Some also favor turning down the heat and simmering eggs.

You can vary the time in the hot water depending on a desire for harder boiled or slightly creamier eggs, but the yolk should be pretty solid to be safe. Boiling them for too long can risk creating green sulfur development on the outside of the yolk.

How to cool the eggs

After that, Don Schaffner, food science department chair at Rutgers University, said there are two options.

You can run your eggs under cold water to reduce the temperature. From there, you can color them right away or place them back in the fridge until you’re ready. Or, after you’ve boiled them, you can let them air dry until they’ve cooled.

The boiling process sanitizes the eggs, and as long as they are kept out of water, Schaffner said, they will remain safe to eat.

“You’ve boiled the egg, you’ve gotten rid of any bacteria that might be in the egg. And now you’ve air-cooled it, right? So it’s going to cool more slowly, it’s probably going to cook more,” he said. “But most importantly, you don’t have to worry about any bacteria from the water getting internalized into the egg.”

It’s OK to get food dye on your eggs

Either artificial or natural food dye is OK as long as the dye label says it’s food grade. For those keeping track, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been updating its guidance and regulations regarding certain dyes.

And no, it’s not a problem if the dye seeps through the shell.

“Eggs kind of naturally have their own abilities to absorb only so much,” Baker said.

As you’re decorating the eggs and have the eggs outside, she suggested keeping your eggs in an ice bath, so they can stay at a cooler temperature while you’re decorating.

Follow the 2-hour rule

Eggs should generally be kept at or below 40 degrees (4.4 degrees Celsius) to minimize the risk of contaminants.

Cooked eggs that weren’t air-cooled should spend no more than two hours at room temperature. And that’s cumulative, including the time spent decorating and the time spent hiding during the Easter egg hunt.

But if it’s particularly warm, then that two-hour rule may be shortened to one hour, Lynch said.

Hard boiled eggs are generally good for about a week in the fridge.

Give your eggs a rinse before peeling

Be careful with your eggs as you handle them.

One of the biggest concerns is making sure your eggs haven’t cracked during an Easter egg hunt, making them vulnerable to contaminants. And once the egg has been hard boiled, there’s no way to kill bacteria that get inside, Baker said.

“We don’t want to be putting them in the soil or in lawns where pets have gone to the bathroom,” she said.

Whether the eggs are hidden outdoors or in a corner of your home, you should rinse them in cool water before you peel them. And wash your hands, too, just in case the eggs have picked up something.

Consider using plastic eggs

If the Easter egg hunt means your eggs will be at room temperature for longer than two hours, experts recommended using plastic eggs for the hunt instead of real ones to minimize food safety risk.

“If it’s an outdoor Easter egg hunt at any time, I would say go with the plastic eggs and be safe,” Baker said. “And use your dyed Easter eggs as your centerpiece on your table or your buffet, and enjoy them that way.”

Jim Bob Duggar Corresponds with Incarcerated Son Joseph Duggar Regarding “Significant Consequences

Jason and Maddie Duggar, who exchanged vows in 2024, have expressed their outrage over the “unthinkable” actions committed by Jason’s brother, Joseph.

“This past week has left us utterly stunned, confused, and deeply saddened,” Jason and Maddie conveyed in a heartfelt Instagram statement on March 26. “We are appalled by the revelations about my brother, yet this situation is far beyond how it affects us personally. Our thoughts are with the child whose life has been irrevocably disrupted by the malicious actions of someone who should have been a protector, not a perpetrator.”

The couple continued, “Maddie and I have always been advocates for those who are vulnerable, and this commitment remains unwavering. The idea that someone would misuse their power to harm the innocent is abhorrent.”

They also called for prayers for both the “courageous” victim and Joseph’s family, remarking, “His children now have to grapple with the loss of a father who was meant to guide them spiritually.”

They asked for prayers for the “brave” victim as well as Joseph’s family, saying, “His children must face the reality of losing a father that should have been a spiritual leader in their lives.”

Trump Proposes $152 Million Alcatraz Transformation into Modern High-Security Facility

In a fresh bid to address violent crime, President Trump is urging Congress to approve a $152 million budget to revive Alcatraz prison, located near San Francisco, for housing high-risk federal offenders.

This proposal, part of the White House’s fiscal year 2027 budget plan, seeks to direct funds to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to kickstart the transformation of Alcatraz into a “state-of-the-art secure prison facility.”

Last May, Trump issued a directive for the renovation of the notorious island prison. He tasked the BOP, along with the Justice Department, FBI, and Department of Homeland Security, with developing plans to reopen an expanded and modernized Alcatraz, intended to incarcerate some of the nation’s most dangerous criminals.

Expressing his views on social media platform Truth Social, Trump lamented the impact of violent repeat offenders on society. He noted, “America has long suffered from these criminals who bring nothing but misery and suffering. In the past, we did not shy away from isolating the most dangerous individuals to protect society.”

Historically, Alcatraz Island served as a military prison from 1850 until 1933, after which it was handed over to the Department of Justice to function as a maximum-security federal penitentiary.

It was closed in March 1963 because it became too expensive to operate, according to the BOP website.

“An estimated $3-5 million was needed just for restoration and maintenance work to keep the prison open,” the bureau noted. “That figure did not include daily operating costs – Alcatraz was nearly three times more expensive to operate than any other Federal prison.”

Alcatraz Island opened to the public in the fall of 1973 as part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It is now considered one of the West Coast’s most popular tourist attractions, welcoming approximately 1.2 million visitors each year, according to the National Park Service.

Trump is seeking a total of $1.7 billion to “secure America’s prisons” and restore the infamous California prison, which once housed some of the country’s most notorious criminals, including mob boss Al Capone and convicted murderer Robert “Birdman” Stroud.

“For years, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has housed violent criminals in crumbling detention facilities,” the budget proposal states. “Building on a $5 billion investment secured in the President’s [Working Families Tax Credit], the Budget further invests in BOP to ensure competitive pay, safe working conditions, and an end to longstanding correctional officer shortages.”

Explore the Depths: ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ S2E6 Recap Unveils Oceanic Mysteries

“I need more Godzilla and King Kong in the Godzilla and King Kong show.” This sentiment has echoed across social media and forums since the premiere of Monarch. Despite the series being generally well-received, with its romantic drama, bureaucratic intrigue, nostalgic flashbacks, and impressive casting choices like the Russells, many viewers crave more screen time for the titular titans. After all, sometimes you just want to see the real stars of the show in action.

To borrow a line from Valerie Cherish, “well, you got it.”

MONARCH 206 KONG LEANS FORWARD AND SNIFFS

This week’s episode of Monarch kicks off with a spectacular flashback, showcasing Kong majestically roaming Skull Island. Observing him is Kentaro Randa, who captures the beast’s likeness in his sketchbook. The encounter is so intense that it sends Kentaro scurrying back to the joint Monarch/Apex facility, where he and his father, Hiroshi, have dedicated two years to rescuing Cate Randa from the mysterious rift she fell into. This setting lays the foundation for the events leading up to the Season 1 finale.

During a moment of bonding, Kentaro and Hiroshi share beers, and Hiroshi reveals his own experience of falling into a rift, which explains his disappearance following Godzilla’s initial attack. While this revelation doesn’t drastically alter our understanding of Hiroshi, it deepens the father-son relationship. Hiroshi expresses that their collaborative efforts to rescue Cate have compensated for his lost time during his absence.

Later in the episode, Kentaro finds himself at the center of a dramatic Godzilla sequence. A surprise visit from May leads to a night out, during which Kentaro makes a clumsy attempt to express his feelings for her. The situation takes a turn when he accuses her of being more interested in his half-sister Cate, lamenting, “I’m the wrong Randa.” This personal turmoil adds another layer to the unfolding drama, blending human emotions with the epic monster storyline.

When May bounces, Kentaro is almost immediately hit on by another beautiful American woman. This one is named Isabel (Amber Midthunder, who is never less than magnetic as a screen presence), and her openness in trying to pick Kentaro up after watching him “strike out with [his] date” is very sexy. It becomes much less so, however, when she reveals herself to be the daughter of Apex CEO Walter Simmons, who tracked him down to offer him a job with the enemy. Then it’s his turn to bounce.

MONARCH 206 GODZILLA ATTACKS

That’s when things go bad. A Titan warning sounds. Titan X is sighted in the bay. An entire building goes flying through the sky and crashes into the busy downtown, announcing the arrival of Godzilla himself. As Kentaro runs into first his mother (Qyoko Kudo), then May, and finally Cate, who stands their in funereal attire and says she told them that Titan X means them no harm. The Titans clash, the area is devastated by a shockwave…’

…and Kentaro wakes up. Okay, so it was just a dream. But it’s a vivid illustration of the kind of paranoia and terror these people have to live with every day. I’m sure all of us can relate to the feeling of waking up every morning wondering what the monsters have done this time.

MONARCH 206 SYMMETRICAL FUNERAL

Other than the appearances of the Big Two, Hiroshi’s lovely, austere funeral and its fallout dominate the action. At the gravesite, Lee is reunited with Dr. Suzuki (Leo Ashizawa), the scientist who’d once helped Kei, Bill Randa, and himself lure a Titan and briefly stabilize the rift that sucked Lee into Axis Mundi decades earlier. “Zook” survived the debacle and lived to an old age, far older now than either Keiko or even Lee.

Dr. Suzuki and Hiroshi had kept in touch, collaborating on their “Titan phone” lures. Dr. Suzuki still has his, and the confirmation of the time dilation between our world and the Titans’ is the missing piece of the puzzle for perfecting it. Lee plans to use it to summon Godzilla, wielding him like an attack dog against Titan X. The very idea of it disgusts Cate, but there’s no stopping Lee Shaw when he gets an idea in his head.

While the old-timers are off monster-hunting in their own way, Cate and Kei do so in theirs. Hiroshi’s death has hit Cate especially hard, since she blames herself for creating the circumstances that led to his death. Kentaro blames her, too, and doesn’t believe a word of her explanation that she’s somehow communing with Titan X, which is what lured her into danger to begin with.

MONARCH 206 CATE UNDER WATER

Kei, however, has seen signs of these mysterious Titan X–related phenomena before. Rigging up a delightfully analog set of sci-fi whosits and whatsists galore, Kei wires her same-age granddaughter up and immerses first her feet, then her whole body off a dock into the still ocean water. Cate acts as a conduit for Titan X’s song, which Kei is able to record. When she plays them back after Cate resurfaces, her granddaughter diagnoses the sounds of distress they can hear: Titan X is panicked and afraid because it’s lost.

Meanwhile, at a nearby rift site, Lee and Zook work their magic, creating some kind of anomaly the likes of which Shaw has never seen before. Rather than summon a monster, however, Lee hears a strange sound: the voice of his father, Leland Lafayette Shaw III. A member of the Army brass, Lee 3 nearly transferred our boy to Vietnam rather than see him waste any more of his time either on a cushy office job or with a bunch of eggheads who want to “understand” monsters that only want to destroy us. Lee runs right back to Monarch, from which he’d stepped down to avoid further involvement with Keiko, as a result. The rest is history — at least until Lee hears the voice of his time-displaced father in the here and now.

Personally, I’m not convinced Lee stands to gain from developing daddy issues of his own. We’ve had plenty of those to go around with Cate, Kentaro, and Hiroshi. Perhaps this is just the show’s way of bringing Lee in line with the Randa clan.

That complaint aside, this episode of Monarch does what episodes of Monarch do. Want some warmly sexy and effective romance? Witness the disarming way Isabel comes on to Kentaro. (I think he should have gone for it, though admittedly he does eventually call her back to accept that job.) How about some familial angst? Watch how grief pulls Kentaro apart from his sister Cate, while giving Cate an almost sisterly relationship with her grandmother Keiko. Giant monsters? You got the two biggest names in the biz. Okay, so one is a dream sequence — but again, kaiju-related PTSD is an important part of Monarch’s worldbuilding. Their world’s precarious existences feels just an Axis Mundi away from our own.

Tragic Incident: 12-Year-Old Arrested After Classmate’s Death from Water Bottle Assault

0

A troubling case has emerged from a Los Angeles school, where a 12-year-old student was taken into custody following the tragic death of a classmate. The incident, reportedly linked to bullying, involved the victim being struck on the head with a metal water bottle, authorities disclosed on Friday.

The arrested juvenile, whose identity remains undisclosed, faces charges of murder, according to Los Angeles Police Officer Charles Miller. This development follows the untimely death of 12-year-old Khimberly Zavaleta Chuquipa on February 25, who succumbed to injuries sustained during the February 17 altercation at Reseda Charter High School, which serves both high school and middle school students.

While the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has yet to make an official statement, the arrest marks a critical moment in the case. Due to the ages of those involved, further details have been withheld, Officer Miller noted.

Khimberly’s family, grappling with their loss, claims the incident was a result of ongoing bullying, an issue that has sparked broader concerns about student safety and school management. Their attorney, Robert Glassman, emphasized in an email on Friday the importance of the arrest as a step toward accountability. However, he cautioned that this alone does not equate to justice, nor does it address the systemic failures that allowed such a tragedy to occur.

“This arrest is an important step toward accountability, but an arrest alone does not equal justice and does not answer the larger question of how this was allowed to happen in the first place,” Robert Glassman, the family’s attorney, said in email Friday.

Khimberly was in a hallway on the school’s campus when she was struck in the head with a metal water bottle while trying to help her older sister, Sharon Zavaleta, who was being bullied by a group of students, the family said in the wrongful-death claim filed last month against the Los Angeles Unified School District.

She was taken to Valley Presbyterian Hospital, where she was evaluated and released the same day. Three days later, she was taken to UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, where she was placed in an induced coma and underwent emergency brain surgery to try to stop a hemorrhage, the family said. She died Feb. 25.

Glassman said the family has not ruled out taking legal action against Valley Presbyterian Hospital but that they are focused on supporting each other and holding the Los Angeles Unified School District accountable for its failure to intervene long before the fatal attack.

The sisters had been bullied, harassed and physically attacked for months at school, and their mother reported the incidents to school officials, who failed to stop the abuse, he said.

“The focus cannot stop with one student — there must be a hard look at what the adults in charge knew, when they knew it, and why meaningful action wasn’t taken sooner,” Glassman said.

A spokesperson for LAUSD said the district does not comment on pending or ongoing litigation.

Last month, a 12-year-old girl died days after collapsing in the street following a fistfight near a school bus stop in her Georgia neighborhood, according to police.

Jada West, a sixth grader, died after a fight with another student from Mason Creek Middle School broke out at an intersection near hear home.

Shocking Incident: Son Arrested After Brutal Assault on 75-Year-Old Mother, Authorities Report

0

Background: A section of Broad Street in Williston Park, New York (Google Maps). Inset: John Strano (Nassau County Police Department).

In a disturbing incident on Long Island, New York, a local man faces serious charges after allegedly attempting to kill his mother during a heated argument, reportedly shouting, “Why aren’t you dying?” as he choked her. The case has shocked the community, highlighting the severity of domestic violence.

The accused, 37-year-old John Strano, has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and two counts of second-degree assault, among other charges, according to the Nassau County Police Department. The altercation unfolded on a typical Wednesday evening, leaving the neighborhood in disbelief.

Around 5:40 p.m., the 75-year-old victim was inside her home on Broad Street in Williston Park, New York. An argument erupted between her and her son, Strano, which quickly escalated into violence. The police report describes how Strano allegedly forced his mother to the ground, repeatedly slamming her head against it, and continued to assault her by punching her in the face multiple times.

The violence did not stop there. Investigators say Strano choked his mother and, in a chilling escalation, used a blunt metal object to strike her head. Prosecutors revealed in court that a metal clamp was the weapon used in the attack, as reported by News 12 Long Island. Throughout the assault, Strano allegedly screamed questions of disbelief at his mother’s resilience, including, “Why are you still breathing?” and “Why aren’t you dying?”

This alarming case serves as a grim reminder of the potential for violence within family dynamics, prompting discussions on the importance of addressing domestic conflicts before they escalate to such tragic proportions.

After the alleged attack, Strano fled the home, police said. Officers responded to the area, found the son “nearby,” arrested him, and brought him to an “area hospital for an evaluation.”

The mother reportedly lost consciousness and suffered lacerations and swelling to her face and head. She was brought to a hospital and is listed as in stable condition.

Strano pleaded not guilty during his court appearance, according to the local outlet.

Gabby Windey Reveals ‘Love Overboard’ Adventures, Unpacks Her ‘Diabolical’ Packing Habit, and Shares Skincare Secrets with Wife Robby Hoffman

Gabby Windey has once again proven her knack for crafting compelling reality TV experiences. The charismatic former star of “The Bachelorette” and “Traitors” has taken the helm of Hulu’s latest venture, “Love Overboard,” where romance seekers navigate the turbulent waters of love aboard a luxurious yacht.

Windey shared with Page Six Style that the show exudes the nostalgic flair of early 2000s reality television. “Someone mentioned it feels like the 2000s reality era is making a comeback,” she noted. “It captures that essence—raw, genuine, and a bit wild.”

As the vibrant host, Windey is more than just a guiding presence. Known for her stylish flair, she graces the yacht in high fashion while ensuring she’s well-prepared for any situation. Among her travel essentials, she humorously credits Gas-X with “saving lives” during the production.

Despite her evolving packing skills, Windey admits to employing unconventional methods, jokingly revealing, “I’m getting better at packing, but I still use plastic bags. People find it a bit crazy,” she laughs.

“I am getting better at packing as time goes on, but I use plastic bags. People are like, ‘It’s diabolical,’” she laughs.

“I went to bed sober every night; I got a great night’s sleep” she says, when asked about making the transition from contestant to host.

But Windey’s not afraid to splash out on pricey beauty buys.

“I feel like my whole life can be a splurge sometimes,” she jokes. “I don’t have kids! Like, if Timmy’s not going to camp, then I get a new skincare product.”

And while she’s helping others look for love onscreen, Windey’s found it in real life, having been married to comedian Robby Hoffman for over a year.

“It seems terrible out there, but it’s worth waiting for the right one; it’s the best thing ever, and I genuinely know it’s meant for everybody,” she says, quipping that her biggest advice for singles is simply, “godspeed.”

While we can’t all find love on a Windey-hosted yacht voyage, shopping her camera-ready essentials just might be the next best thing. Below, she dishes on her favorites, from her surprisingly affordable mascara to the moisturizer Hoffman steals.

L’Oréal Paris

“My makeup artist used this on me. I’m a brand whore. I go to Sephora. I believe if it’s more expensive it is better, but sometimes you’re just way wrong and you have to learn from experience. This is so good, and I’ve tried every mascara!”

iS Clinical

“My favorite face wash is iS Clinical, which I’ve been using for years. I buy big bottles now and just refill.”

Elemis

“My ride-or-die face cleansing balm; I double cleanse. I’ve used it for years. I like to switch things up [elsewhere in my routine], but it’s so dependable.”

Ole Henrickson

“[Robby] loves my face lotion. She won’t admit it. She’ll always find a reason to come get it, though. I like to buy in bulk. It’s a good lotion, [and] I’m her lotion provider. I don’t use anything of hers, which sucks. Sometimes I’ll steal a bobby pin, and she has great tweezers. She said she’s had the same tweezers since she was like 12 or something. Who knows what’s on them.”

Sephora

“I don’t use a ton of makeup, but I do like these little sticks from Westman Atelier. It’s nice for a no-makeup look to just add some color.”

Bloomingdale’s

“If I put perfume on and people don’t say that I smell good, that is a waste of money.”

Warning: Popular Home Fragrance Sends Toddler to ER – What Every Parent Needs to Know

0

A young child was urgently transported to the hospital after suffering from poisoning caused by a commonly used household fragrance product.

A three-year-old girl from New York City, whose identity remains undisclosed, was taken to the emergency room following her first seizure. According to her mother, the episode occurred as the child was making her way to the kitchen, where she suddenly collapsed and experienced a seizure lasting approximately five minutes.

During a seizure, neurons in the brain fire erratically, which can disrupt normal brain functions, decrease oxygen levels, and result in cell damage.

Initially, the child was moved to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for monitoring, where she seemed to be recovering well. However, her condition took a turn when she experienced two additional seizures within a few hours, leading doctors to conduct an electroencephalogram (EEG) to assess her brain activity. This procedure involves placing non-invasive electrodes on the scalp to monitor brain waves.

However, within a few hours, she had two more seizures, prompting doctors to measure her brain activity with an electroencephalogram (EEG), which involves placing non-invasive electrodes on the scalp.

The EEG came back normal but blood tests came back showing the girl had high levels of salicylates, compounds derived from salicylic acid, which is found in plant-based foods like willow bark and berries, as well as over-the-counter medications like aspirin and Pepto-Bismol.

While salicylates are safe in low doses, the child’s blood test showed levels of 19 mg/dL, a sign of salicylate toxicity, which leads to respiratory failure, seizures, lethargy and dehydration. A safe level for adults is about 30 mg/dL, but doctors warn even lower levels can be fatal for children.

An investigation of the toddler’s home found incense sticks were regularly being burned in her bedroom. Incense is a substance such as spices or herbs burned to produce fragrant smoke, though some brands can contain known carcinogens like formaldehyde.

The brand of incense sticks, which doctors did not reveal, contained salicylate concentrations of 10 to 20 percent, which likely caused the girl’s condition.

The experts from NYC Health + Hospitals in Harlem also warned that because blood tests cannot accurately measure chronic salicylate exposure, the burden on the girl’s body could have been more severe than tests showed.

The girl was diagnosed with chronic salicylate intoxication, which occurs from prolonged ingestion of salicylate. The condition is particularly dangerous in children and the elderly, as these groups have weaker immune systems.

‘Chronic salicylate intoxication is associated with higher mortality compared with single, acute ingestions,’ the doctors wrote in the American Journal of Case Reports.

Doctors treating the girl wrote that salicylate can gradually accumulate in tissues past the blood-brain barrier, causing inflammation and reducing cell function, which may lead to seizures.

Salicylates can also be absorbed by the stomach, liver, kidneys, lungs and heart, potentially causing multi-organ failure.

‘Chronic salicylate intoxication in children can present subtly yet carry life-threatening consequences,’ the doctors wrote.

The FDA does not strictly regulate the ingredients in incense products since they are not considered food, drugs or cosmetics. This means manufacturers are not required to list all ingredients.

Incense most often contains wood powders like sandalwood, essential oils, spices and herbs. However, the FDA has warned smoke from some incense products may contain probable human carcinogens like formaldehyde and benzene, which have been linked to an increased risk of leukemia, nasal cancer and lymphoma.

A 2009 study also found incense burning triggered wheezing episodes in children with asthma.

There is limited evidence on the potential benefits of burning incense. One 2008 study in cell cultures and mice found incense using frankincense resin had similar psychiatric effects as antidepressants due to the feeling of warmth.

And a 2017 study found that some compounds isolated from frankincense and myrrh resins had an anti-inflammatory effect in mice.

Most incense sticks burn for 60 to 90 minutes.

‘Currently, many incense products and candles marketed for household use in the United States lack appropriate labeling regarding their salicylate content and potential toxicity,’ doctors treating the toddler wrote.

‘A detailed environmental history including prolonged incense use in enclosed spaces should be considered in any child presenting with unexplained seizures with concurrent acid-base imbalance.’
