A journalist covering the Met Gala has been criticized for what some have called a ‘disrespectful’ move, interrupting actress Gabrielle Union to question Troye Sivan about his upcoming music.

In a clip circulating on social media, Union is seen responding to a question on the red carpet when Sivan walks past her, drawing the reporter’s attention.

“Troye, are you making new music?” the reporter loudly inquires, prompting the camera to shift focus from Union to the singer-songwriter.

Sivan answers with a simple “Yes,” while Union continues her conversation.

The reporter presses further, asking, “When’s it coming out?” to which Sivan appears to respond with “soon.”

Many online hit out at the reporter for interrupting Union.

‘This is so disrespectful. Where is the class?’ one X user posted, with another writing: ‘The disrespect is insane, she should have walked away at that point,’ referring to the actress.

Others went as far as to suggest the reporter be fired from her position.

‘This is so unprofessional and very disrespectful,’ the Pop Rift account wrote. ‘The interviewer should be fired and never allowed at the Met Gala again. DISGUSTING.’

Another said they were ‘tired of these unqualified journalists and interviewers.

‘[I don’t care] WHO you’re interviewing, I just feel like that’s so rude,’ the X user wrote, as a third argued: ‘The unprofessionalism in journalism today is absurd. It’s time for a major course correction.’  

Netizens even hit out at Variety itself for sharing the clip.

‘You’re not cute and you’re not slick, Variety,’ one user wrote. ‘The blatant disrespect for Ms Union is noticed and I will never read your magazine again because of how brazen it is.’   

Some also suggested there may have been some racism involved. 

‘This happens WAY too often to black celebs,’ one woman wrote. ‘Gabrielle Union is an ICON doing her interview and they shout over her for Troye Sivan? The disrespect is getting exhausting.’ 

‘Variety keeps saying, “No blacks allowed” very loud,’ another chimed in. ‘That’s Gabrielle Union, who is HE.’

And a third X user wrote that the interruption was ‘so disrespectful to [Union], who is such a deserving actress and producer.

‘Y’all always make black people the background players and never course correct. It’s rude and y’all also open Troye to being dog piled.

‘Do better Variety!!’  

Some X users went as far as calling on Variety to fire the reporter involved, while others suggested there may be some racism involved

But Sivan also risked Anna Wintour’s wrath by wearing a pair of blue jeans to the annual gala.

Despite being dressed in Prada, the singer committed a fashion faux pas in the eyes of the former Vogue editor-in-chief by wearing the casual clothing item to the Met.

Wintour has long held strong opinions about where jeans should and should not be worn, previously saying there are some places where the item can be disrespectful. 

A former assistant of the fashion mogul, 76, even once revealed in an interview that Wintour had banned jeans and sneakers in her office.  

‘The one unspoken rule, it was never explicitly said, but in Anna’s office is that there are no jeans and no sneakers,’ Sammi Tapper told Vogue in April. 

In 2019, during the Vogue video series Go Ask Anna, Wintour said she didn’t dislike jeans, but she believed there was a time and place for them to be worn.

‘Looking at all those models on the street wearing their jeans and T-shirts they all look fantastic,’ she said, but added that they’re not always ‘the most respectful choice’.

She said one should never wear jeans to formal occasions, particularly at the Buckingham Palace and the White House. 

‘You should definitely not wear jeans when you’re meeting your future in-laws for the first time,’ she also stressed.

Nevertheless, Troye did not seem bothered by Wintour’s opinion on the fashion item as he proudly rocked his blue denim at the night of nights of celebrity fashion. 

He paired the jeans with a white button-up and black tie which he topped with a faux fur-lined coat. 

The Daily Mail has reached out to Variety for comment. 

A Florida mother found herself behind bars on Saturday after a youth football game descended into chaos, culminating in an adult allegedly kicking a child, according to officials.

Renee Lambert was arrested and faced charges of child abuse without causing great bodily harm, as well as resisting an officer. The incident reportedly unfolded during a Pop Warner game at Brooks Park in Fort Myers, as stated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities, who were providing security at the event, responded to the field when a scuffle erupted among the players. According to police, video footage revealed Lambert running onto the field and kicking a juvenile player.

Lambert, in her defense, alleged that a child struck her with a helmet, which triggered her response. However, investigators have stated that their evidence does not back up her claims.

Lambert claimed a child hit her with a helmet, prompting her actions, but investigators said that claim was not supported by the evidence.

Bodycam footage captures a tense, profanity-laced confrontation as deputies attempt to detain her.

“So you’re mad at them for hitting me?” Lambert asks.

“I’m mad at an adult for attacking a kid,” the officer responds.

“Stop! You’re detained right now,” the officer later commands.

“No I’m not. Goodbye… get your hands off me,” she fires back.

“You are being pointed out as being a suspect right now — you’re detained,” the officer says again moments later.

She then demands, “Where’s number nine? Go get number nine.”

“A kid?” the officer asks.

“Yes.”

“You’re an adult,” he responds.

The footage ends with a chaotic scene as deputies attempt to place Lambert in handcuffs.

In a separate incident last month, another Florida mother was arrested after allegedly leaving her 12-year-old daughter alone at a bar in Universal CityWalk while she went drinking elsewhere, officials said.

Amanda Thorpe, 33, of Lake Mary, was charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving her daughter behind to go drinking at another bar, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

State Farm’s reputation as a reliable insurance provider is under scrutiny. Recently, the company has faced significant backlash from both the Trump administration and the State of California due to its inadequate handling of claims related to the Eaton and Palisades Fires.

For years, residents paid their insurance premiums faithfully, expecting support when calamity struck. However, when these wildfires wreaked havoc, many found themselves abandoned, left to navigate the aftermath alone.

In a controversial move, State Farm dropped coverage for thousands of households, compelling them to turn to the California FAIR plan. Ironically dubbed the “un-FAIR plan” by frustrated policyholders, this alternative was hardly a satisfactory solution.

Even those who managed to maintain their insurance coverage as of January 7, 2025, the day the fires occurred, faced significant challenges. State Farm’s reluctance to settle claims left many struggling to receive the compensation they were owed.

But those lucky enough to have insurance as of January 7, 2025 — the date of the fires — had to struggle to get State Farm to pay.

The Bloomington, Illinois, insurer made lowball offers to some policyholders, amounting to a small fraction of their losses, perhaps hoping they were desperate enough to accept.

The company also shuffled and reshuffled adjusters, so that months after working with one State Farm representative, a policyholder often had to start all over again with the next.

Perhaps most painful of all, State Farm required people who had lost their homes to make itemized lists of their possessions before they could obtain full compensation. For many who lost everything, compiling these lists was an almost impossible task, and a bitter one.

State Senator Ben Allen had to intervene, and managed to push SB 495 through the California legislature, requiring State Farm and other insurers to pay at least 60% of personal property losses before requiring a list. 

The Trump administration leaned on State Farm as well, and it increased its payout to 65%.

But State Farm continued to demand “The List” for the rest.

At a U.S. Senate hearing last May, Republican Josh Hawley pressed State Farm and other insurance companies about allegations that corporate HQ was overruling adjusters in the field, forcing them to lower their estimates of damage.

And earlier this year, the Trump administration weighed in again. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin — Trump’s new “point man” on the rebuilding effort — met with residents and took insurance companies to task, promising to name names.

That seems to have spurred outgoing California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara into action — belatedly.

Lara’s department launched an investigation, and concluded that State Farm had abused its customers. Lara wants to suspend State Farm’s license for a year and slap it with hefty fines.

Better late than never. Lara and Gavin Newsom’s administration had neglected the crisis in California’s insurance market for years, as insurance companies began fleeing the state.

Lara in particular was notoriously absent during key hearings at the state legislature.

The courts will decide what happens to State Farm. But whatever its fate, it missed an opportunity to live up to its “good neighbor” promise — in a year when it had record profits.

California is about to elect Lara’s successor. There are many qualified candidates for Insurance Commissioner — many with fresh ideas to address the ongoing insurance crisis.

This year’s Met Gala theme presented a particularly challenging puzzle, yet many celebrities seemed to arrive at a similar stylistic conclusion.

Guests were tasked with showcasing how designers transform the human body into a work of art, with some interpreting this as a chance to reveal more skin than usual.

Among the stars who embraced daring interpretations of the “Fashion Is Art” theme were Irina Shayk, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Cara Delevingne, who opted for outfits that left little to the imagination.

Irina Shayk, at 40, made a statement on the legendary steps in a bespoke Alexander Wang ensemble, featuring a bra adorned with costume jewels, allowing her chiseled abs to take center stage.

In a similarly audacious move, Gigi Hadid, 31, turned heads in a completely sheer black Miu Miu dress, highlighting her underwear while tastefully using embellishments to maintain a hint of modesty.

Jenner, 28, stepped out in an intricate Schiaparelli gown, with a nude, curve-hugging corset top and a half-tied, cream-colored, bejeweled satin skirt. 

The back of the dress featured an undone look, and she paired it with a dramatic hairstyle, leaving just one strand around her eyes, and chunky pearl earrings and a matching necklace.

Meanwhile, Delevingne, 33, walked the red carpet in a deceptively sexy gown by Ralph Lauren – from the front, she was a vision of glamour in a black turtleneck gown that cascaded to the floor.

But once she turned around, her completely backless gown showed off plenty of skin.

Tyla was another notable attendee whose skimpy dress pushed the envelope. 

The singer opted for a glamorous dress that featured a bust made entirely of jewelry. 

Elsewhere, French influencer Lena Mahfouf also did not shy away from showing some major skin.

The 28-year-old worked the iconic staircase with a molding of two hands covering her breasts and a baby-blue dress hugging her waist, with delicate straps. 

The theme of this year’s event – widely considered the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets – was Costume Art, while the dress code was Fashion is Art.

But the outfits on display failed to impress several netizens, with one posting:  ‘Hate Met Gala looks that look cheap, like bffr.’

‘The Met Gala is giving cheap, boring prom attire this year,’ another tweeted.

‘Is she naked or is that the new trend?’ one asked of Jenner’s look.  

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, also known as the Met Gala, falls on the first Monday in May every year.

Leading the charge was a powerhouse trio of co-chairs, with Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams joining forces with Vogue’s global editorial director Anna Wintour to oversee fashion’s biggest night.

It was the first time tennis superstar Williams had co-chaired the gala. Kidman previously co-chaired the star-studded event in 2003 as well as 2005, and Beyonce was an honorary chair in 2013.

The New York City museum is set to pair historical and contemporary garments from the Costume Institute for its upcoming exhibition, which opens on May 10. 

It will be loosely divided into three categories: the classical and the nude body, aging and pregnant bodies, and the anatomical body. 

The exhibit, set to unveil the Met’s sprawling new Conde M Nast Galleries, has been made possible by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sanchez, who are the lead sponsors and honorary co-chairs. 

The title “Costume Art” refers to the history of the Costume Institute, Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute’s curator, said at a press conference.

The 2026 Met Gala had a host committee that included committee co-chairs Anthony Vaccarello and Zoe Kravitz, along with members Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Angela Bassett, Gwendoline Christie, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor and more. 

Costume Art will run from May 10 through January 10, 2027.

In a coordinated effort, federal and state officials have descended upon a rural area in Tennessee, intensively searching for a fugitive with military training who is accused of shooting his wife and subsequently disappearing into the thick forested region.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 44-year-old Craig Berry, a former Special Forces operative well-versed in survival tactics. Berry vanished early Sunday morning from a home in Stewart County, as confirmed by the local sheriff’s office.

He is currently wanted on charges of second-degree attempted murder, law enforcement has stated.

Officers responded to an incident around 1:30 a.m. at a residence close to Old Paris Highway, where Berry allegedly opened fire on his wife during a domestic dispute. The victim was taken to a nearby medical facility, but her current condition has not been disclosed to the public.

Berry was last reported seen in the vicinity of River Trace Road. This week, officials are meticulously searching from River Trace Road to Highway 79 and extending to parts of Highway 232, according to the sheriff’s office on Monday.

Before deputies arrived, Berry fled into nearby woods, triggering a rapidly escalating search that now spans a wide swath of rugged terrain along the Tennessee-Kentucky border region.

Authorities say Berry is armed with at least one handgun, may be carrying additional ammunition and should be considered highly dangerous.

Berry’s background in Special Forces and survival skills have heightened authorities’ concerns. The sheriff’s office said that he is highly familiar with the area and trained in survival tactics.

“He is very familiar with the area,” Sheriff Gray said.

Berry was captured by a trail camera wearing camouflage clothing, the sheriff’s office said when releasing the photo.

Investigators say Berry was last tracked by K-9 units near River Trace Road, but officials said that they no longer know whether he remains in the immediate area.

The search zone has steadily expanded from the initial scene near Old Paris Highway to include Gray’s Landing and corridors along highways 232 and 79.

The operation also now involves the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Craig Berry, the sheriff’s office said, is a retired special forces veteran and has extensive training in survival tactics. Officials added “he is an excellent swimmer and diver, and is in good physical shape.” (Stewart County Sheriff’s Office)

Authorities have also warned that Berry may be attempting to evade detection by moving through wooded areas in camouflage clothing.

Officials describe him as physically fit, capable of navigating difficult terrain and waterways, noting he is believed to be a strong swimmer and diver. 

Investigators said that Berry does not appear to have a phone or electronic means of communication, limiting their ability to track him.

Officials have also not ruled out the possibility that he may have received outside assistance after the shooting.

Law enforcement, the sheriff’s department said Monday, has begun shifting tactics by scaling back some broad woodland sweeps while preparing for more targeted searches based on leads.

Authorities have also turned to the public for help, urging residents to remain alert, lock their doors and report anything suspicious.

They have asked property owners to check trail cameras for possible images of Berry, suggesting investigators believe he may still be moving through areas.

“We have no information that he is no longer in the area,” the sheriff’s office said in its latest update.

For now, authorities are warning residents not to approach Berry and if spotted, to call 911 immediately.

Newly unveiled crime data from Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch shows a promising trend for New York City, with overall crime decreasing by 9.5% last month compared to the same time last year.

While this is certainly a positive development, deserving of praise for Tisch and the dedicated officers of the NYPD, it’s essential to delve deeper into these numbers before celebrating too much.

The year-over-year comparison might not tell the whole story about the city’s crime situation.

A more insightful analysis would involve contrasting crime rates from before and after the implementation of bail reform in New York City.

The noticeable uptick in crime didn’t start last April but rather dates back to 2019. This was the year bail reform was enacted, leading to the release of numerous habitual offenders back onto the streets.

While murders are down 14% from April 2019 to April 2026, robberies are up 8.8%, grand larcenies are up 9.4%, felony assaults up 50% and auto theft a whopping 171%.

We are seven years into this bail-reform “experiment,” and felony index crime overall is up over 26% from what it was before the law passed.

Reform deceit

It has failed miserably, but our legislators will never admit it.

In fact, watch for them to start using these “declining” crime numbers to boost even more foolish “reforms” to our criminal-justice system, like “elder parole” and “timely parole release.”

Watch them start to claim that bail reform was a success, ignoring the hundreds more people killed and tens of thousands more victimized over the past seven years as a result of that misguided policy.

Consider this: If crime had stayed at the same 2019 rate from 2020 through 2024, instead of skyrocketing as it did, there would have been 600 fewer murders, 1,000 fewer rapes, 10,000 fewer robberies, 22,000 fewer felony assaults, 16,000 fewer burglaries, 10,000 fewer grand larcenies and 35,000 fewer car thefts in just those five years.

Almost 100,000 fewer New Yorkers would have become victims of felonies.

When bail reform was passed, city jails held 7,800 inmates.

By Jan. 1, 2020, when the law took effect, the number of inmates had fallen to 5,800, as more than 2,000 career criminals were released with little to no supervision.

It fell to about 4,000 in April 2020, as the city released even more dangerous criminals because of COVID.

Predictably, crime soared.

The only thing bringing crime down now is that the population in city jails has risen, to about 6,600.

The career, repeat offenders have managed to convince even liberal NYC judges that they should not be on the streets.

Imagine what they had to do in order to accomplish that.

Rikers problem

But now Mayor Mamdani and the City Council are insisting on reducing the population in city jails by another 2,200 inmates in order to close Rikers.

You see, the city is only building 4,400 total jail cells for a city of 8.4 million.

Only the absolute worst of the worst of the worst will be housed; all others will be released.

We know from recent history that this won’t go well for the law-abiding.

When the NYPD dismantled a car-theft ring in The Bronx recently, Tisch commented that if those arrested wind up not going to jail, all the work of the NYPD and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office will have been for nothing.

Boy, is she right.

The rest of our city’s leaders should take that warning to heart.
