Pooler Community Unites in Protest Against Controversial Park and Canal Development Plans

POOLER, Ga. — On Saturday, local nature advocates guided Pooler residents on a walk to highlight areas where upcoming development projects could impact the trail adjacent to the Savannah-Ogeechee Canal.

During a Pooler City Council meeting on Monday, officials voted to amend the zoning conditions for the property located at 200 Jesup Road. This decision eliminates access via Dublin Road and instead introduces a new access point on the south side, which passes through the historic Savannah-Ogeechee Canal.

Pakistan Facilitates Landmark US-Iran Discussions, Marking Highest-Level Talks in Nearly 50 Years

0

Pakistan has unexpectedly stepped up as a mediator between Iran and the United States, following its pivotal role in brokering a fragile ceasefire. Now, it is hosting crucial peace talks in its capital, Islamabad.

Weeks of conflict in the Middle East have resulted in significant loss of life and caused turmoil in global energy markets. However, a glimmer of hope emerged this Wednesday when both nations agreed to halt hostilities temporarily.

Pakistan’s efforts as a diplomatic intermediary have been acknowledged as instrumental in achieving this truce. U.S. President Donald Trump credited discussions with senior Pakistani officials for leading to the two-week cessation of conflict.

As Islamabad prepares for the upcoming peace discussions, the city is under tight security. Armed personnel in military gear are patrolling the streets, with traffic diversions and police checkpoints set up to ensure safety.

The talks are expected to proceed indirectly, with Iranian and U.S. delegations stationed in separate rooms. Pakistani officials will act as messengers, conveying proposals between the two sides—a strategy previously employed in mediation efforts between the two nations facilitated by Oman before the outbreak of the conflict.

The US delegation in Islamabad will include vice president JD Vance, special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner — the latter of whom is Trump’s son-in-law.

Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf are leading Iran’s delegation.

Given the seniority of the attendees, it’s the highest-level US-Iran talks since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and the first official in-person negotiations between the two sides since former US secretary of state John Kerry negotiated the significant 2015 nuclear deal that Trump withdrew the US from in 2018.

Witkoff and Aragchi participated in multiple rounds of Oman-mediated talks before the US and Israel initiated the war on 28 February with strikes on Iran that killed its supreme leader, Ali Khamenei.

Pakistan’s key relationships

Pakistan’s clout as a mediator stems from its unusually wide diplomatic network.

It has cultivated strong links with Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and China — with Trump and Pakistani officials crediting China for helping to bring Iran to the negotiating table.

It’s also improved ties with the US, with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir forming a close relationship with Trump, accepting an invitation to visit him at the White House last year.

Pakistan also shares a 900km border and deep historical, cultural and religious ties with Iran. It’s home to more than 20 million Shia Muslims, the world’s second-largest such population after Iran.

Stuti Bhatnagar, a lecturer in Indo-Pacific Studies at UNSW Canberra, told SBS News that Pakistan was “situated quite centrally in this conflict, geographically as well as geopolitically”.

“It’s kind of found itself in the right place at the right time,” she said.

However, Pakistan does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, the actions of which remain an important part of any attempt to secure peace in the region, with Iran demanding that the truce is conditional on Israel ceasing strikes in Lebanon, a demand that Israel and the US have pushed back on.

High stakes for all parties

Pakistan also has a clear stake in the outcome, with the conflict in the region carrying significant security and economic risks.

It imports the large majority of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively choked off in retaliation against US and Israeli aggression.

It also shares a defence agreement with Saudi Arabia, under which aggression against one country is considered aggression against both.

Iranian drone and missile strikes have targeted energy infrastructure in Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, as part of a broader campaign targeting US allies in the region and disrupting global oil trade.

Like other Gulf states, Saudi Arabia has so far avoided directly joining the war for fear of further escalation from Iran.

“If the Saudis decided to get aggressive in this war, the Pakistanis would have to side with the Saudis, which would have put it in a very difficult position in the region with Iran,” Bhatnagar said.

Mansoor Ahmed, an honorary lecturer in the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University, told SBS News Pakistan’s role as a mediator was the result of several converging factors.

“[It has] goodwill with all the main players all at the same time, enhanced strategic leverage and influence — especially in the wake of the India-Pakistan conflict of May — and direct stakes in ensuring that the conflict doesn’t really escalate,” he said.

What about other mediators in the region?

Along with Oman, Qatar has a long track record of mediating between adversaries in the region, playing a key behind-the-scenes role in previous negotiations between the US and Iran, including a 2023 prisoner swap deal.

However, it has reportedly been reluctant to take on a central mediating role in the current conflict.

Like other Gulf states, Qatar has faced attacks on its energy infrastructure during the war — from both Iran and Israel.

According to Ahmed, it also lacks the particular set of relationships that Pakistan has cultivated.

“Qatar doesn’t have that kind of strategic partnership and relationship with Saudi Arabia, and with Türkiye and with China, and the US and Iran all at the same time,” he said.

Bhatnagar said there had also been a breakdown of trust in the region.

“Iran has not attacked Oman directly, so there’s some respect there. But Qatar and all the other Gulf Cooperation Council countries have actually faced the brunt of Iranian attacks in this war.”

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 – Reversing Time

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 Sunday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Reversing Time

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 TOPIC – Reversing Time

MEMORISE: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: – Daniel 2:21 (KJV)

READ: Joshua 10:1-14 (KJV)

1 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedec king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;

2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.

3 Wherefore Adonizedec king of Jerusalem, sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

10 And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.

13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 8-9

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 MESSAGE

God controls times and seasons, as we see in today’s memory verse. As I mentioned yesterday, He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending (Revelation 1:8). This means that He is in charge of the past, present, and future. If He wants, He can stop time like He did in today’s Bible reading, where He stopped the sun from setting. God is Almighty, and He can reverse the effect of time on a person or situation.

Many years ago, as I approached my 60th birthday, I became concerned that I was growing old, and it seemed like I was still very far from completing the assignment that God had given me. My children were really excited as they wanted to celebrate my 60th birthday with me; however, I was groaning and crying to God in prayers. I still remember the spot where I was, around 2am one morning, praying and asking Him for help. I told Him that I still had so much to do, and the sun seemed to be setting on my life already. God responded, saying, “Son, I decide when the sun sets.” Those words completely put my heart at rest. As you are reading this, I pray that the Lord will prove Himself mighty in your life.

In Isaiah 38:1-8, Prophet Isaiah told King Hezekiah that God would heal him and add 15 years to his time on earth. He also told him that God would give him a sign to prove this to him:

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down. – Isaiah 38:8

Beloved, God can bring something from your past into your present. He can bring an opportunity that you think you have lost forever back to you. In Genesis 18:9-14. when God said to Abraham, “Tell your wife that she will have a son,” Sarah laughed. She laughed because it was humanly impossible for a woman of her age to conceive a child. However, God rebuked her and made her realise that He can restore what seems to be gone forever. I pray for you today that God will reverse time for your sake, and every good opportunity that seems to have been lost forever will be restored to you, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 PRAYER POINT

Father, please reverse time for my sake and restore all the good opportunities that I have lost, in Jesus’ name.

Open Heaven 12 April 2026 HYMN 27 – What A Friend We Have In Jesus

1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!

3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge-
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.

Ciara Miller’s Mysterious Post on ‘Loyalty’ Sparks Buzz After Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s NYC Sighting

Ciara Miller has no patience for unfaithful friends.

The 30-year-old “Summer House” personality recently posted a photo on Instagram after indulging in a shopping spree at Sephora.

But it was her caption that really grabbed the attention of her followers: “@sephora actually rewards loyalty.”

Her supportive castmates, standing by her in the midst of a fallout with West Wilson and Amanda Batula, chimed in with praise for her witty remark.

“Caption 💯,” commented Lindsay Hubbard, a sentiment that Mia Calabrese also echoed.

The commentary was seemingly a dig at Miller’s ex, Wilson, and her former best friend, Batula, whom Page Six witnessed making out during a double date in New York City on Friday.

“Amanda Batula and West Wilson were on a double date at Emmett’s. They made out at the table and then Amanda hid under her sweater,” the insider said.

The source added, “They seemed like they were having a good time. They kissed. They were there for a while. Before dinner, they were at Blind Tiger.”

The Blind Tiger was the first time that Batula, 34, and Wilson, 31, were spotted together publicly after confirming their shocking relationship late last month.

Hours before their outing, Batula publicly apologized for disappointing her fans by dating her best friend’s ex.

“I wanted to come back on and say that I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt,” she wrote.

Though she did not name Miller in her message, she did address the apology to “those I know personally who I’ve reached out to individually.”

The Bravolebrity continued, “For the sake of my mental health, I’m going to try to start living my life with some sense of normalcy. If you see me out or posting online, please know that this still weighs very heavily on me.”

“I’m not ignoring what’s happening or what’s unfolded,” Batula — who is separated from husband Kyle Cooke — noted before confirming that she “will be at the reunion.”

Miller and Wilson had previously dated in 2023 and were seemingly rekindling their romance recently — they even allegedly hooked up at some point between February and March.

However, amid growing online speculation, the sports journalist and Batula confirmed they were dating.

Since then, the former nurse has been throwing shade via social media and even during an interview with Sydney Sweeney, where she slammed those who date their friend’s exes.

DCLM Daily Manna 12 April 2026 — Servant Leaders

DCLM Daily Manna 12 April 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Servant Leaders

TOPIC: Servant Leaders (DCLM Daily Manna 12 April 2026)

KEY VERSE: But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve – Luke 22:26

TEXT: Luke 22:24-30 (KJV)

24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.

26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.

27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;

30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

During the American Revolution, a man in civilian clothes rode past a group of soldiers repairing a small defensive barrier. Their leader was shouting orders, but did not attempt to help them. Asked by the rider why he did not assist the soldiers, the man retorted with great flourish: “Sir, I am a corporal!” The stranger apologised, dismounted, and proceeded to help the exhausted soldiers. The job done, he turned to the corporal and said, “Mr. Corporal, next time you have a job like this, and not enough men to do it, go to your commander-in-chief, and I will come and help you again.” The stranger was none other than General George Washington, America’s first president.

The disciples of Jesus engaged in an ill-timed and selfish argument about who among them should be accounted the greatest. Jesus had taken the Passover meal and created a memorial to His death, which we call the Lord’s Supper. He announced His impending death with this memorial. He also further revealed that one of His disciples would betray Him. Amid these seemingly serious challenges, the carnal pursuit of self-glorification was most important to the disciples. It betrayed their present state of mind and their selfish thoughts. Even more unbelievable was that they had this argument on the heels of the Transfiguration of Christ. This important event should have focused their attention more on heavenly things. Jesus cautioned the disciples against running an autocratic system similar to that obtained in the courts of despots and dictators of the world. He extols the virtue of humility and servant leadership.

What Christ, in His wisdom, cautioned His apostles against during His earthly ministry has now resurfaced among the clergy of our day. Jesus did not look gorgeous and sophisticated – one of the reasons those sent to arrest Him needed the services of an insider to make out who was the real Jesus among His disciples. Church leaders should be wary of ostentation, obsession with titles and offices. It is not the positions or offices we occupy that matter eventually; it is rather the selfless service we render to the flock of Christ that God recognises.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
True leadership is exemplified through service.

Rhapsody Of Realities 12 April 2026: A Sworn Declaration Of Blessing

Rhapsody Of Realities 12 April 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): A Sworn Declaration Of Blessing

TOPIC: A Sworn Declaration Of Blessing (Rhapsody of Realities 12 April 2026)

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee (Hebrews 6:13-14).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

God’s covenant with Abraham was more than a promise—it was a sworn declaration of blessing. The Bible says that because God could not swear by anyone greater, He swore by Himself. That means the blessing was backed by God’s very nature and integrity. It wasn’t just a good intention; it was a covenant of certainty.

This blessing wasn’t for Abraham alone. Galatians 3:29 declares, “…If ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” You’re the inheritor of the Abrahamic blessings. You’re the reason God made that promise to Abraham—to reach you through Christ. This blessing is active in your life today, and it means increase, favour, fruitfulness, and spiritual authority.

God’s blessing on you is irreversible and unstoppable. That’s why no curse, opposition, or circumstance can prevail against you. You’ve been empowered to succeed and multiply. This is something much bigger than yourself. It’s not just about your needs being met; it’s about being a channel of divine flow. He said to Abraham, “…I will bless you…And you shall be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2 NKJV).

You’re blessed to be a blessing. You’ve been blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 1:3). Don’t live like someone trying to be blessed. Live as one already blessed, walking in divine partnership with God and dispensing blessings. Speak blessings. Declare your increase. Expect favour and dispense favour. Multiply your resources and use them to advance the Kingdom. It’s your heritage in Christ. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for making me the seed of Abraham and an heir of the blessing. I’m fruitful, favoured and empowered to prosper. I walk in excellence and supernatural abundance; I’m a blessing to my world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Genesis 12:2-3 (KJV) And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: [3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Galatians 3:8-9 (KJV) And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. [9] So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Hebrews 6:13-14 (NIV) When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, [14] saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”

Urgent Search Underway for Missing Hiker in Victoria’s Scenic National Park

0

A large-scale search operation is currently in progress for an individual named Andy, whose surname remains undisclosed.

Andy was part of a group of 15 campers at the Murray-Sunset National Park located in Victoria’s north-west region.

Yesterday, around 11 a.m., he set off alone from the Shearers Quarters camping site to trek the 8km Millewa South Bore Track heading toward the South Australian border.

Unfortunately, since his departure, Andy has not been sighted.

The search effort involves a coordinated team including police, the Air Wing, the Dog Squad, the Mounted Branch, Search and Rescue Squad officers, and the State Emergency Service (SES), all working diligently to locate Andy.

They’re worried as he has limited hiking experience and has been gone for more than 24 hours.

UFC Shockwaves: Carlos Ulberg’s Staggering Knockout vs. Jiri Prochazka’s Catastrophic Downfall

0

MIAMI — Sometimes, victory can slip away when you least expect it.

At UFC 327 on Saturday night, Jiri Prochazka seemed poised to claim the light heavyweight championship with confidence. The fight took a dramatic turn when Carlos Ulberg appeared to have sustained a severe leg injury, putting him on the verge of a technical knockout loss.

With the title seemingly within his grasp, Prochazka began to celebrate prematurely, displaying his exuberance and underestimating his opponent. In a shocking twist, Ulberg managed to land a decisive blow, knocking Prochazka out cold, and turning the tide of the match entirely.

Reflecting on the unexpected outcome, UFC President Dana White remarked to reporters at the post-fight press conference, “The fight was over. But I guess it’s not over until it’s over.”

Prochazka began celebrating and styling on his opponent, but he got clipped and knocked out cold in a mistake-filled light heavyweight title loss.

“The fight was over,” White told reporters at the post-fight press conference. “But I guess it’s not over until it’s over.”

Ulberg said afterward he blew out his knee and will likely require surgery, as White said that the back of his leg was hurting, perhaps pointing to a torn ACL.

Overall, it’s the worst-case scenario for the UFC, as Prochazka was the crowd favorite in this fight and had the crowd at his fingertips.

The result is the UFC’s light heavyweight champion has just 158,000 followers on Instagram (yes, that matters) and a blown-out knee that will sideline him for the rest of the year.

With light heavyweight now in flux again, there’s a reasonable expectation that the promotion will need to find a new champion to compete for the belt in an interim fashion.

Perhaps middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev jumps up to light heavyweight to fight for the interim belt, or maybe Paulo Costa gets a look as a contender in his new division.

Costa looked about as good as ever in the co-main event, as he knocked Azamat Murazkanov out with a head kick.

Costa, who is not yet ranked in the light heavyweight division, but he just beat the No. 6-ranked fighter in the division, certainly drew at least some conversations about whether he can contend for the title.

“Put some respect on my name,” Costa boasted as he danced for President Donald Trump in the center of the octagon.

All we have in light heavyweight is problems now that Ulberg is the champion, and he looks to be injured, but get ready for some funky answers from here.

The show must go on, as they say in show business.

If only Prochazka hadn’t counted his chickens before they hatched.

Bronzeville CTA Bus Shooting: Survivor Tamara Powell Shares Her Story After 39th Street Incident

0

A woman recuperating in a hospital has shared her experience with ABC7 after being injured during a shooting incident involving a CTA bus on Chicago’s South Side. The event unfolded on a Friday afternoon.

According to Chicago police reports, the shooting occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, targeting a CTA bus in the 3900 block of South King Drive. An individual on the street opened fire, causing chaos and panic.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Tamara Powell, who was among the passengers, recounted her ordeal. She was returning home from work on a CTA route she seldom uses. Just as the bus approached a stop in the Bronzeville neighborhood, she suddenly heard multiple gunshots. In an attempt to protect herself, she ducked, only to realize she had been hit in the leg.

Powell was just a few stops away from her destination but never completed her journey home that day.

Reflecting on the incident, Powell remarked, “It makes you think, and… definitely, like I said, it could’ve been worse.”

The 37-year-old mother was forced to take a frightening detour to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

“I have my headphones in,” Powell said. “I’m on the phone and all of a sudden I hear pop, pop, pop.”

Home surveillance video captured the Friday afternoon gunfire when Chicago police say someone began shooting at the crowded bus. People could be seen scattering from Pershing and King Drive.

“They tell me to get down on the floor. I realize I’ve been hit, and I see the blood start coming down my leg,” Powell said. “When I did get down on the floor, I was eye-level with one of the entry points of a bullet. So, if I had gotten down sooner… yeah, probably would be different.”

The shooting comes as the public transit agency is fighting to keep government funding with a newly revised safety plan waiting for federal approval. Just this week, Marquettia Johnson, the wife of a man killed in a December shooting on a Pink Line train in the Loop, shared her grief and frustration to CTA board members.

“Raymond didn’t choose to be murdered,” Johnson said. “He chose to get home to his family. And he never made it.”

Powell, who says she happens to work as a security guard for the same company contracted with the CTA, is also calling for safety reform.

“Needs to be more done, because currently it’s not enough,” Powell said.

Powell had surgery early Saturday and says it will likely be a few days before she’s released from the hospital.

The search for the shooter remains ongoing as Chicago police continue to investigate.
