Virginia High School Incident: New Charges for Suspect in Student Misconduct Case

Authorities report that an undocumented immigrant accused of inappropriately touching female students at a Virginian high school now faces more charges as additional victims have stepped forward.

Israel Flores Ortiz, aged 18, initially confronted nine charges of assault and battery for allegedly groping classmates at a school in Fairfax County.

On March 5, officials at Fairfax High School notified local police about several alleged assaults occurring on their premises. Following this, an arrest warrant was issued, leading Flores Ortiz to surrender to authorities on March 7.

This past Wednesday, law enforcement announced that he now faces four additional counts of assault and battery, as more victims have come forward during the ongoing investigation.

Flores Ortiz is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The Department of Homeland Security said the suspect is an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who arrived in the U.S. in 2024.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said a detainer has been filed on Flores Ortiz.

“We are calling on Fairfax County to honor our detainer to ensure this violent criminal is removed from our country so he can never claim another victim again,” DHS said in a statement to Fox 5.

Parents in Fairfax County had voiced outrage after his initial charges.

“It’s terrifying as a parent because when I send my daughters to school, I think they’re safe in the care of the school,” parent Stacy Langton told Fox News Digital. “And in this case, they absolutely were not safe, and I don’t know what parent wouldn’t be completely distraught at the idea that their daughters could be getting sexually battered while they’re changing classes.”

Fairfax County Public Schools released a statement last week saying that it prioritizes the safety of students and staff.

“While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is unable to comment on specifics due to federal and state privacy laws, we prioritize student and staff safety and we fully investigate any time someone shares that an incident has occurred at school, or that they do not feel safe at school,” the district said at the time. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who continue to work swiftly and thoroughly when there are safety concerns in our schools. The safety of all FCPS students and staff remains a top priority.”

Judge Delivers Harshest Penalty to Man Convicted of Fatally Beating Girlfriend’s Toddler

A young man from Ohio, aged 23, is facing the possibility of spending over 20 years behind bars for his involvement in the tragic death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter. The little girl suffered physical abuse before she ultimately died from suffocation in her bed.

This Tuesday, Adams County Judge Brett Spencer sentenced Brian Moser to a term of 17 to 22 and a half years in a state prison. This sentence surpasses the initially proposed range of 15 to 20 years outlined in Moser’s plea agreement. Moser had admitted guilt to one charge of involuntary manslaughter and two charges of child endangerment relating to the 2025 death of 2-year-old Lilith Burkhardt.

In detail, Moser’s sentence breaks down to 11 to 16 and a half years for the manslaughter charge, accompanied by 3 years for each count of child endangerment, with all sentences to be served one after the other.

Before accepting the plea deal, Moser had been facing more severe charges of murder, which carried a potential sentence of 63 years to life in prison.

During the court proceedings, Moser expressed remorse, apologizing to the victim’s family and stating that the loss of Lilith has left him “traumatized” for life. He continued to assert that her death was accidental.

Prior to formally sentencing Moser, Spencer said deaths involving children are particularly affecting because they “represent pure vulnerability violated.”

“While our minor children only compose one-third of our population, they absolutely compose 100% of our future,” the judge said. “While the stipulated sentence is suggested to this court, this court will not be following that stipulated sentence.”

He continued, saying that “only maximum sentences would suffice in regard to any assimilation of fairness in this case.”

The victim’s father remembered Lilith as a child whose light was “so bright” that it “filled every corner of her family’s world,” according to her obituary.

Cincinnati-based Fox affiliate WXIX reported that just days before Lilith’s death, Moser changed his name from Terri Smith III to Brian Moser, which is the name of a fictitious serial killer from the show “Dexter.” Prosecutors reportedly said the defendant changed his name because he “really likes serial killers.”

Lilith’s mother, Tien Hawkins, is also facing child endangerment charges. She is scheduled to appear in court for a change of plea hearing on May 8.

At 74, Larry Allison’s day begins with a 5:15 a.m. alarm twice a week. Instead of enjoying a leisurely retirement, the former merchant banker and removalist takes on a different role—steering a school bus in Port Stephens, located on New South Wales’ north coast, as part of his part-time employment.

Allison joins a rising number of Australian seniors who find that years of diligent work are insufficient to meet the demands of today’s escalating cost of living.

“Prices just keep climbing—more than inflation,” he explained.

He told nine.com.au he simply couldn’t survive the increases in all of his major expenses if he didn’t keep working.

“In the past year alone, our electricity bill has surged by 33 percent, insurance rates have increased by 20 percent, and it seems there’s no end in sight.”

“Over the last 12 months, our electricity is up 33 percent, insurance has gone up by 20 percent, and it just doesn’t stop.”

Allison originally thought he would retire at 65. Now, he estimates he will have to keep working until he is at least 80.

In a recent Change.org petition started by Allison, the pensioner laid bare the reality of his “golden years.”

“I wake up each week knowing that I still have to work two days just to keep my head above water,” Allison wrote. 

“I am an age pensioner, and after a lifetime of hard work, it’s disheartening to see that I can’t afford to slow down and enjoy my golden years at home. 

“Instead, I am forced to continue working because the cost of living has become unbearable.”

Pensioners working longer than ever

Allison’s struggle is reflected in a nationwide trend of Australians delaying full retirement. 

According to the latest Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) survey data, retirement rates have plummeted over the last two decades.

In 2003, roughly 70 percent of women and nearly half of men aged 60 – 64 had fully retired. Today, those numbers have fallen to 41 percent and 27 percent respectively. 

Even for those in their late sixties (65–69), retirement is no longer a given: only 66 percent of women and 61 percent of men in this age bracket are fully retired, down from much higher levels twenty years ago.

The physical and mental toll of working into one’s late seventies is significant. 

To keep his heavy vehicle licence, Allison undergoes annual driving tests and check-ups with an endocrinologist, a heart specialist, and a GP. This year, a cognitive test will be added.

“I had open-heart surgery three years ago… but I still managed to get back to work,” he said.

Calls for reform: “Let pensioners work”

A common frustration for many working seniors lies with the pension income test. 

Currently, once a single pensioner earns over $218 a fortnight (or $380 for a couple), their pension payments are reduced by 50 cents for every dollar earned.

“When I was working three or four days a week, I was losing 50 cents in every dollar, plus paying 30 cents in tax,” Allison said. “There was no point.”

This sentiment is at the heart of the National Seniors Australia (NSA) “Let Pensioners Work” campaign. 

The NSA is lobbying the government to exempt employment income from the Age Pension income test entirely. 

They argue the current system effectively “taxes” seniors at a higher marginal rate than many high-income earners, discouraging them from filling critical labour shortages in sectors like aged care and agriculture.

Billy Pringle, Senior Policy Officer for the Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association (CPSA), said the cost-of-living squeeze was becoming unbearable for many pensioners. 

While the pension is indexed to the CPI, Pringle points out that those increases always arrive after the prices have already spiked.

“Pensioners are always having to play catch-up,” Pringle said. 

“We’ve heard from people who are eating less nutritious meals because they aren’t able to get fresh fruit and vegetables… or they might be skipping meals altogether.”

Pringle warns that for those who aren’t physically able to “pick up an extra shift” like Allison, the situation is dire. 

“People have paid tax their whole life with the promise that they can retire, and then they are forced back into the workforce because of circumstance.”

To prevent the pension from losing its value, the government uses a complex “triple-check” system for indexation every March and September. 

It compares the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures general inflation, with the Pensioner and Beneficiary Living Cost Index (PBLCI), which is tailored to the specific spending patterns of seniors – like higher healthcare and energy costs. The pension is increased by whichever of these two is higher. 

Finally, the rate is benchmarked against Male Total Average Weekly Earnings to ensure pensioners’ living standards don’t fall too far behind those of workers.

However, Pringle points out that these metrics often fail to capture the true financial burden on individuals, noting that while rent factors in at about 6 percent of the CPI and 20 percent of the PBLCI, “there’s very few people for whom rent is only six or even 20 percent of their income and of their costs; mostly it’s north of 30 percent.”

While these shifts happen twice a year, they are often overshadowed by the “Work Bonus” rules. 

In late 2023, the federal government made significant reforms to this scheme, permanently increasing the “Work Bonus Bank” limit from $7800 to $11,800. 

This allowed new pensioners to start with a $4000 credit, theoretically letting them earn more from a job before their pension began to dwindle.

However, for Allison and thousands of others, even these “banked” credits disappear quickly under the weight of bill shock coming in.

“We just got our last electricity bill, it was $954 for the last quarter, and we have also just paid our rates – there goes another $2700,” Allison said.

President Donald Trump has attributed the tragic death of 18-year-old college student Sheridan Gorman to the lax border policies of his predecessor.

Gorman, a Loyola University freshman, was tragically shot in the early hours of Thursday morning while she was out walking with friends near the pier at Loyola Beach in Chicago.

The accused, 25-year-old José Medina-Medina from Venezuela, who entered the U.S. illegally in May 2023, faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated use of a firearm in relation to her death.

Addressing attendees at the National Republican Congressional Committee’s annual fundraiser in Washington, D.C., President Trump remarked, “Just last week, an innocent 18-year-old college student, Sheridan Gorman, was senselessly killed while walking in a park.”

He went on to criticize the current administration, stating, “The individual charged with Sheridan’s murder entered our nation illegally from Venezuela and was released here under Sleepy Joe Biden’s watch,” labeling his predecessor as “pathetic” and the “worst president.”

He then went on to note that Medina-Media ‘was then arrested again and released again by the Democrat Governor JB Pritzker, one of the worst governors in the history of our country, in the sanctuary city of Chicago.’ 

‘Democrats politicians don’t care about the American blood they spill in their very demented pursuit of these open borders,’ Trump then argued, before vowing that Republicans would end sanctuary policies.

Medina-Medina had been apprehended by US Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, but was released into the United States, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Just over a month later, on June 19, 2023, he was arrested in Chicago for allegedly shoplifting $132 worth of merchandise from a Macy’s and was once again released.

Court records show he failed to appear for subsequent hearings, leading a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest. He was never apprehended on that warrant.

The president has previously called Gorman’s death ‘devastating.’

‘These people were let in by Biden,’ Trump told reporters on Monday.

‘We’re getting them out. We’re getting them out fast. That’s why ICE is so important. They’re doing such a good job.’ 

Gorman’s family has previously said they are also upset about the policies that have allowed Medina-Medina to remain in the country.

‘We are gravely disappointed by the policies and failures that allowed this individual to remain in a position to commit this crime,’ the family said in a statement to Fox News.

‘When systems fail – whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act – the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent.’

But Governor Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have placed the blame back on Trump for failing to introduce comprehensive immigration reform.

Progressive Chicago Mayor Johnson also hit out at Trump on Wednesday as he announced that a snowplow in the city would be named ‘Abolish ICE.’

‘What the Trump administration is doing and has done has nothing to do with immigration enforcement or safety. It doesn’t,’ Johnson continued. 

‘Ninety-five percent of the individuals that were detained by ICE were not the “worst of the worst” that he said he was going to go after, had no criminal record,’ he claimed.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Emily Gregory, after an unexpected triumph in a Florida special election, expressed her enthusiasm for representing all her constituents, even including President Donald Trump.

Within Gregory’s district lies Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, with the district itself centered around Palm Beach. Although state legislative contests typically do not attract national attention, Democrats nationwide reveled in the irony of their Republican adversary’s district being represented by a Democrat.

Gregory’s victory marks the latest in a string of Democratic wins in special elections, suggesting potential momentum as they head into a midterm election year that could serve as a referendum on Trump’s second term.

This 40-year-old newcomer, who owns a fitness business focused on pregnant and postpartum women, managed to defeat a Republican candidate endorsed by Trump, who highlighted the candidate’s support “by so many of my Palm Beach County friends.”

For Florida Democrats, Gregory’s win is particularly gratifying after years of Republican dominance in a state once considered a key battleground. They are also hopeful about Brian Nathan’s prospects in a state senate race in the Tampa area. Although the Associated Press has yet to declare a winner, Nathan holds a slim lead within the margin for a state-mandated recount.

“The pendulum swings in both directions,” Florida Democratic Chairwoman Nikki Fried told reporters. “Last night it swung hard in the state of Florida.”

She added, “If we can win in Donald Trump’s backyard, we can win anywhere.”

Florida Republican Chairman Evan Power did not return a message seeking comment. Trump said nothing Wednesday about the race.

Gregory said she’s ‘embedded in my community’

For Gregory, it has been a stunning introduction to the national spotlight.

“I believed in myself the whole time,” Gregory said, describing her political “naiveté” about the district and its conservative leanings as an asset. She was elected to finish the term of Mike Caruso, a Republican who resigned to become Palm Beach County’s clerk, and she would need to run again in November if she wants to keep the seat.

Gregory told the AP she did not make her contest about the president specifically, focusing instead on constituents’ concerns involving the economy and everyday costs — from fast-rising insurance in the hurricane-prone district to groceries and gas.

She described herself as a lifelong “proud Florida Democrat” but said she did not view herself as a Trump opposition leader. She said she will go to Tallahassee focused on proposals to limit insurance rate hikes, expand health care access, support public education and lift “huge, crushing burdens on the average Florida family.”

“I just see myself as very embedded in my community, very representative of District 87,” she said. “And I’m so humbled and proud to be their representative.”

Gregory expects to be sworn in before a special legislative session that begins April 20 to redraw the state’s congressional map. It’s a Republican initiative intended to boost the party’s chances to hold onto its thin majority in the U.S. House, and Gregory said she plans to oppose the effort.

She described the session as a “complete power grab” resulting from “the president’s call to gerrymander in favor of Republicans.”

Trump endorsed Gregory’s opponent, Jon Maples, and cast a mail ballot in the contest. The president reiterated his support for Maples on the eve of the election with a social media post addressed to “ALL GREAT PATRIOTS.”

Florida Dem chair says party has the right candidates

Fried praised Gregory and Nathan, a 45-year-old veteran and union worker, as quality candidates who could capitalize on the broader political environment.

“The type of person and connection on the issues matters,” Fried said.

Gregory flipped a seat that her Republican predecessor had won by 19 percentage points. Fried said Trump carried the district by 11 points in 2024.

Republicans still dominate the Florida Legislature, and they have been considered heavy favorites to hold the governor’s office in November, four years after Gov. Ron DeSantis won a blowout reelection campaign.

But Fried and other Democrats insisted the trends suggest a competitive landscape. She noted that Tuesday’s victories followed two congressional special elections in 2025 when Florida Democrats lost but dramatically narrowed the usual margins in heavily Republican districts.

“You’ve seen tremendous overspending by Republicans,” Fried said of the current cycle. “It’s not working.”

Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly said Wednesday the results demonstrate an upswing for the party as long as candidates address the economy.

“Change is here,” said Jolly, a former Republican congressman who switched parties. “Voters are giving us an opportunity in Florida that they haven’t given us in years.”

A spokesman for Republican U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, whom Trump has endorsed for Florida governor, took at least some notice of the latest results.

“We constantly assess how we execute our strategy — that’s just good campaigns,” said Ryan Smith, Donalds’ chief campaign strategist. “What won’t change is our mission: President Trump endorsed Byron Donalds to deliver real results and defend the Florida Dream, and that’s what voters can expect to see from us.”

Gregory, meanwhile, said she’s ready to get to work, including for Trump.

“I will work as hard for every single one of 180,000 constituents in District 87,” she said, “and not elevate anyone over the rest.”

Known for his entrepreneurship with Sewing Down South, Conover stands as one of the original cast members still part of the show.

7 Then the five men departed, and came to Laish, and saw the people that were therein, how they dwelt careless, after the manner of the Zidonians, quiet and secure; and there was no magistrate in the land, that might put them to shame in any thing; and they were far from the Zidonians, and had no business with any man.

There was no magistrate that could call them to order for anything at all. They lived far from everyone else, and “had no business with any man”. Reporting later to their people, the spies from Dan urged them to quickly go to invade Laish. The people, they said, were unprepared and ill-equipped to defend themselves. They had a false sense of security in their large and luxurious territory. They were in no condition to resist invaders.

Some Christians are not as vigilant as they should be. They isolate themselves from other believers. They are routinely absent from fellowships, and they are always quick to say that they know their hearts, that their salvation is assured and secured. They neither seek nor accept the counsel of other believers or even ministers of God. They become completely unconscious of the danger that lurks around the corner for the Christian pilgrim. We must be careful for just when we think we are comfortable, that is when the devil strikes and the negligent believer falls from grace.

Greenbriar Children’s Center Announces Exciting Reopening in Fall 2026


SAVANNAH, Ga. — After a year-long closure prompted by financial difficulties, Greenbriar Children’s Center has unveiled its revitalization plans.

“We took a step back to reassess, focusing on a pivotal question: how can we serve children and families most effectively?” stated Connie S. Cooper, President of Greenbriar Children’s Center. “Our vision extends beyond the present, aiming for long-term impact.”

Offering childcare services for infants and preschoolers across Chatham County, the center plays a vital role in the community.

In 2025, the facility shut down due to unsustainable financial conditions, leaving families and staff with only a brief notice period, which sparked controversy.

“Convincing people that such issues won’t recur is challenging,” Cooper admitted. “While we can’t predict economic shifts, we are committed to sustainability and won’t reopen until we are assured of long-term viability.”

Cooper said there was conversations about a strategic plan in 2020, but nothing took place until 2025. This is when they were forced to close their doors are relieve all their staff because they couldn’t financially sustain themselves any longer.

Now, with help from Chatham County, they are able to reopen their doors and renovate their 15-acre property.

 “We’re putting some safeguards in place that weren’t there before,” Chatham County Chairman Chester Ellis said. “We’re putting some checks and balances in place so that once the county has done everything that it can do, then it can sustain itself.”

Chatham County has secured $480,000 from local and state officials to help with the renovation plan. The project will include the demolition of two buildings, along with other buildings being completely remodeled.

“Today is about far more than renovating a building,” Cooper said. “It represents resilience, intentional partnerships and an unwavering commitment to children and families in our communities.”

Greenbriar leaders said the construction is set to begin in April and the center will reopen Fall 2026.

TOPIC: Righteousness Consciousness (Rhapsody of Realities 6 March 2026)

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

The Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, unveils one of the most extraordinary revelations in Scripture: God made Jesus, who knew no sin, to be sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Remarkable! Jesus wasn’t made a sin offering or a sin sacrifice in a figurative sense; rather, He was made sin itself. On the cross, He became the very embodiment of sin.

This is much more than He being declared sinless by God; it conveys something deeper: Jesus had a consciousness of His own sinlessness. He was sinlessness-conscious. He lived with the awareness that there was no trace of sin in Him.

This is why righteousness consciousness is so vital. If the Lord Jesus lived with a consciousness of His sinlessness, then as His righteousness, you must live with a consciousness of your righteousness in Him. He didn’t just make you righteous, He made you the righteousness of God. You’ve become the very expression of God’s righteousness. You’re His righteousness, walking and talking, in human flesh.

When you understand this, it changes the way you live. You’ll no longer see yourself as a forgiven sinner but as a bona fide child of God living out His perfection, His purity and His glory in this world. This is more than a legal standing; it’s your vital reality. He said in Isaiah 54:17, “…their righteousness is of me….”

No wonder Paul said in Philippians 3:8-9, “…that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.” Be ever conscious of your righteousness in Him. That consciousness gives you boldness in life and dominion over adversities.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the revelation of my righteousness in Christ. I live every day with the consciousness that I’m your righteousness, holy, blameless and justified. I walk in dominion, manifesting your nature and fulfilling your perfect will for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
