Iran Provokes Israel and Gulf States Amidst US Negotiations to End Regional Conflict

In a dramatic escalation of tensions, a missile struck a bustling street in the heart of Tel Aviv, with Iran continuing its aggressive bombardment of Israel and Gulf Arab nations on Tuesday. Amid this turmoil, U.S. President Donald Trump announced ongoing negotiations with Iran, aimed at quelling the conflict.

In a significant move, Trump postponed a looming deadline that required Iran to reopen the critical Strait of Hormuz to international shipping. Failure to comply would have triggered U.S. airstrikes on Iranian power facilities. This decision temporarily eased tensions, leading to a dip in oil prices and a surge in stock market performance.

This delay offered a temporary respite from the fraught exchanges between the U.S. and Iran over the weekend. The threats had included potential strikes that risked plunging millions across Iran and Gulf nations into darkness and crippling essential desalination plants that supply drinking water to arid regions. There were also heightened fears of a disaster if nuclear facilities were targeted.

Despite Trump’s assertions of dialogue, Iran has firmly dismissed any claims of negotiations. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf took to social media platform X to refute the reports, stating, “No negotiations have been held with the US,” and accusing the spread of “fakenews” of attempting to influence financial and oil markets.

“No negotiations have been held with the US,” Iranian parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf posted on X, adding that “fakenews is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said Israel will continue to strike Iran and Lebanon even as the U.S. considers a ceasefire.

“There’s more to come,” he said.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has been talking about the war this week to his counterparts in Azerbaijan, Egypt, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, Turkey and Turkmenistan, his office said.

Iran hits Israel and Gulf neighbors while Israel attacks Beirut

Iran fired multiple waves of missiles at Israel early on Tuesday, with reports of an impact in the country’s north.

In Tel Aviv, a missile with a 100 kilogram (220 pound) warhead escaped Israeli defenses to slam into a street in the center of the city, blowing out windows of a neighboring apartment building and sending smoke billowing.

“We saw destruction, smoke, and chaos,” rescue service worker Yoel Moshe told reporters of his arrival at the scene minutes after the missile struck. Four people suffered minor wounds, he said.

Emerging from the shelter, Amir Hasid said he expected the scene to be far worse. “It feels like you’re a (sitting) duck, waiting for the missiles to hit you, or someone next to you,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Israel pounded Beirut’s southern suburbs saying that it was targeting infrastructure used by the Iran-linked Hezbollah militant group.

A strike on a residential apartment southeast of the Lebanese capital killed at least two people, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

In Kuwait, power lines were hit from air defense shrapnel, causing partial electricity outages in several hours. Missile alert sirens sounded in Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry said it had destroyed 19 Iranian drones targeting its oil-rich Eastern Province.

Oil prices briefly fell below $100 a barrel after Trump claimed his government was in talks to end the war. But that respite was short lived, with the price of Brent crude, the international standard, back to $104 a barrel in morning trading, up more than 40% since Israel and the U.S. started the war on Feb. 28.

Iran skeptical of Trump’s motives in deadline extension

Trump initially set a deadline of late Monday, Washington time, for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face attacks on its power plants, but on Monday he gave Tehran five more days to comply.

Iran has allowed a small number of ships through the strait, which leads from the Persian Gulf to the open ocean, but has said it will continue to target vessels linked to the U.S., Israel or its allies.

Its leaders are wary of Washington’s motives, in part because Tehran was in negotiations with the U.S. before the surprise attack that started the war. Iran were also in talks last year when the U.S. and Israel attacked its nuclear facilities, starting a 12-day war.

“Trump, Netanyahu and the like are inherently liars and their nature is to create division,” Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, was quoted as saying by the semiofficial Fars news agency.

“We must think wisely. Their nature is to sow discord so that they can make people distrust officials and believe that such actions have taken place, whereas no such action has occurred.”

Trump’s extension of the deadline comes as a contingent of thousands of Marines is on the way to the area, raising speculation that the U.S. may try to seize Kharg Island, which is off of Iran’s coast and vital to the country’s oil network.

The U.S. bombed the island in the Persian Gulf more than a week ago, hitting its defenses but saying it had left oil infrastructure intact.

Iran has threatened if the U.S. appears to be on the verge of landing troops it could mine the Persian Gulf, which would complicate an amphibious assault and also imperil all shipping in the area.

The delay could be timed to coincide with the arrival of U.S. Marines in the region, expected Friday, wrote the New York-based think tank the Soufan Center in an analysis.

“As Trump has in the past, he could be moving military assets into place, in this case to prepare for an invasion and seizure of Kharg Island, while using negotiations as a cover until those assets are fully combat-ready.”

However, the center also noted that “Trump could be actively seeking an offramp. Whether Iran reciprocates is yet to be seen.”

Trump has said he has no plans to send ground forces into Iran but has not ruled it out. Israel has suggested its ground forces could take part in the war.

Iran’s death toll has surpassed 1,500, its Health Ministry has said. In Israel, 15 people have been killed by Iranian strikes. At least 13 U.S. military members have been killed, along with more than a dozen civilians in the occupied West Bank and Gulf Arab states.

Unlock the Secrets of Safe Mushroom Foraging: Essential Tips to Avoid Deadly Death Caps

0

As the season for wild mushrooms kicks off, Australians are being urged to stay vigilant about the dangers associated with mistakenly consuming death cap mushrooms and other toxic fungi.

This past Monday, the Food Safety Information Council (FSIC) delivered its annual advisory on the hazards of mushroom foraging. The message was clear: avoid picking or consuming wild mushrooms to reduce the risk of poisoning.

The FSIC highlighted that the recent blend of mild weather and substantial rainfall has led to a proliferation of wild mushrooms nationwide. This increase in growth heightens the risk of encountering poisonous varieties.

Accidental ingestion of these mushrooms can result in severe consequences, such as liver or kidney failure, if not treated promptly. In the worst cases, it can be fatal.

The council also emphasized that traditional methods of preparing mushrooms, such as cooking, peeling, or drying, do not neutralize their toxicity. They strongly recommend that individuals source their mushrooms from trusted markets or grocery stores to ensure safety.

Consuming death cap mushrooms in particular had led to deaths in both Australia and overseas, FSIC CEO Lydia Buchtmann said.

“The poison in one death cap mushroom, if eaten, is enough to kill a healthy adult,” Buchtmann said.

Non-native death cap mushrooms look and taste almost identical to other wild mushrooms, including edible mushrooms picked in Europe, or straw mushrooms used in some Asian cooking. In Western Australia, the native marbled death cap mushroom could have similar fatal effects.

Last year, Victorian woman Erin Patterson was found guilty of intentionally poisoning her lunch guests by serving them a Beef Wellington meal containing death cap mushrooms at her Gippsland home in July 2023.

However, it’s not only death cap mushrooms that raise concern. Yellow-staining mushrooms are more common than edible mushrooms in urban areas, and account for most wild mushroom poisoning incidents in Victoria.

The FSIC recommended checking gardens and fields for mushrooms and removing them to decrease the risk of accidental exposure — especially amongst children and pets.

Mushrooms should not be removed with bare hands, and gloves or tools should be used to then place them in a plastic bag.

If you suspect mushroom poisoning, call the Poisons Information Centre immediately on 13 11 26. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Australia-wide.

In an emergency, call triple zero (000) or go straight to an emergency department. If possible, take a sample or photo of the mushroom to help with identification.

Open Heaven 11 March 2026 TOPIC – Attaining Good Success (2)

MEMORISE: This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. – Joshua 1:8 (KJV)

READ: Joshua 1:1-9 (KJV)

1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Open Heaven 11 March 2026 MESSAGE

When Zerubbabel wanted to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, Zechariah told him that it wouldn’t be by power or might but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). It is possible to succeed and achieve results that could never have been produced by your efforts – I am a living proof of that reality. As I write this, the RCCG is in over 190 countries across the world, and I have yet to visit some of them. This is a good example of results beyond efforts. God can give you victories that have nothing to do with how powerful, wise, strong, or influential you are – they will only be by His unfailing mercies and love.

In Psalm 37:5, David advises you to commit your way to the Lord and trust in Him to bring your plans to pass. This is important because if you don’t surrender all to the Lord and He gives you success, you might likely forget Him and begin to feel as if you have become successful because of your abilities. Some people become successful and lose their sleep and peace because they have not surrendered to the Lord. When I became the General Overseer of the RCCG, we had only 39 branches in Nigeria. Now, the church has thousands of branches across the world, and my blood pressure remains normal because I know that God is behind it all. Every night, I go to bed without worrying about anything. I am at peace because I have committed and surrendered everything to God.

God wants all His children to enjoy good success. In today’s memory verse, He showed Joshua an important key to attaining such success: meditating on His word. To meditate is to think deeply about something. God told Joshua to keep the book of the law in his heart and on his lips at all times because He knows that whatever is in his heart and on his lips will eventually become his reality. God knows that if He can get you to believe that He wants you to be successful, and you profess this in faith, nothing will stop you from succeeding. If you are reading this and have experienced many struggles and failures, I decree that things will change for the better from today, in Jesus’ name.

Beloved, meditate on the word of God day and night and confess the things He has said concerning you; that is the key to experiencing and enjoying good success.

DCLM Daily Manna 24 March 2026 — Holy Convocation

DCLM Daily Manna 24 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Holy Convocation

TOPIC: Holy Convocation (DCLM Daily Manna 24 March 2026)

KEY VERSE: Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: – Deuteronomy 31:12

TEXT: Deuteronomy 31: 9-15 (KJV)

9 And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and unto all the elders of Israel.

10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

11 When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

12 Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

15 And the Lord appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

“Before Jehovah’s awesome throne Ye nations, bow with sacred joy,” wrote the great hymn writer, Isaac Watts. “Know that the Lord is God alone; He can create; and He can destroy.” He alone therefore, is to be served, and to Him should we bow and worship. In today’s passage, Moses received the Law from God and gave it to the priests and the elders of Israel; he instructed them on the need for a convocation at a chosen place at the end of every seven years, during which God’s word would be read to all categories of Israelites, including strangers within their gates. The purpose was clear: to ensure they hear, learn, and fear the Lord for their benefit and that of succeeding generations.

Holy convocations were mandatory for Israel as a nation. Usually, they were avenues for fellowship, reenacting God’s laws, and receiving divine instructions. They provided platforms for reminding Israel of her covenant with God and promised reassurance in their journeys and lives. Forsaking such assemblies was considered an offence punishable by God and detrimental to their corporate existence. The New Testament places no less emphasis on the assembling of brethren. The early Church gathered regularly for fellowship, prayers, intercessions, teachings, and instructions through chosen leaders to build and edify the Body of Christ, preparing her for duties, proper coexistence, and the coming of the Lord.

In specific terms, the Bible instructs that saints must not forsake their assembling together to avoid the heart’s hardness through sin’s deceitfulness. We do not condemn receiving inspiration through social media interface/meetings, as a medium of hearing from God. Yet, they cannot be justifiable replacements for physical gatherings of believers of common faith, except where restrictions are based on the extant laws of nations or countries where such believers are found.

The strength, stability, and progress of families or nations depend on God and His holy Writ. Therefore, the culture of teaching, hearing, and learning God’s word must be imbibed and sustained by all. The Bible cannot be replaced by literature or books on psychology, philosophy, sociology, and other works by men. The value of such effort is time-bound and demands renewed editions. God’s revelation, however, is eternal and relevant to all peoples and cultures, cutting across all geographical and demographic boundaries. It restores, enlightens, empowers, saves, purifies, edifies, sanctifies, guides, heals, reproves and corrects unto righteousness. So read, study, obey, and teach it to your children and everyone under your influence.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Assembling with fellow believers enriches and refreshes.

Breaking News: Markwayne Mullin Confirmed as New DHS Chief – What This Means for National Security

0

On Monday, the Senate confirmed Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma as the new head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), following President Trump’s decision to remove his initial Cabinet pick.

Mullin’s nomination received bipartisan backing, with two Democrats joining their Republican counterparts to secure his confirmation in a 54-45 vote.

The Senate expedited Mullin’s appointment, with the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee moving his nomination forward just a day after a heated hearing. During this session, Chair Rand Paul from Kentucky sharply criticized him. The vote on the Senate floor followed less than a week later.

Mullin steps into the DHS leadership role amid turmoil, as the department grapples with a shutdown. The Senate and the White House remain at an impasse over proposed changes to immigration enforcement policies.

As the shutdown extends into its sixth week, President Trump has deployed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to airports, asserting that their presence will support Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staff in managing the increasing security checkpoint delays.

Mullin was largely rejected by Democrats, who, alongside Paul, argued he did not have the temperament to lead the department, noting not only his support for the neighbor who violently attacked Paul but his threat to fight Teamsters leader Sean O’Brien during a hearing.

Sen. Gary Peters (Mich.), the top Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, voted against advancing Mullin, saying the senator “showed that he doesn’t have the experience or the temperament to lead this critical department.”

“I’m very troubled by Senator Mullin’s willingness to condone political violence and the message that that sends across DHS, and we’re not talking about an isolated lapse in judgment after Senator Mullin attempted to physically fight a witness at a Senate hearing in 2023,” he said Thursday.

Paul, the Republican chair of the panel, last week also pointed to Mullin’s failure to apologize for past comments but said the violent streak is his top concern.

“I think there are anger issues. I think there’s a lack of contrition, both about the violence that was perpetrated on me, really the violent episode he was involved in the Senate committee where he’s told the media, frankly, that he doesn’t regret it,” Paul said.

“We shouldn’t settle personal questions with violence, I think that would be a terrible example for ICE and for our Border Patrol agents.”

Others who rejected Mullin called him inexperienced while arguing he represented no real change in how the Trump administration could approach immigration enforcement.

“Senator Mullin has no relevant experience, and I’m concerned he’ll be a rubber stamp to President Trump and Stephen Miller and run a DHS that is not fundamentally different from Secretary Noem’s. Americans cannot afford more of the same abuses of power,” Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto wrote on the social platform X.

In addition to Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who expressed support for Mullin shortly after Trump nominated him earlier this month, Mullin also earned the backing of Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.).

“This is going to surprise some people, but I consider Markwayne Mullin a friend. We have a very honest and constructive working relationship,” Heinrich said in a Sunday statement, noting the two have co-sponsored bills together.

Heinrich said under Trump he has been unable to have much of a relationship with DHS leadership.

“I want someone who recognizes the necessity of judicial warrants, as he has. I would like a Secretary who I can call and have a constructive conversation with about my state and the unique terrain that exists in the southwest and the proper mix of structure, technology and personnel necessary to effectively secure our border,” he said.

“I have also seen first-hand that Markwayne is not someone who can simply be bullied into changing his views, and I look forward to having a secretary who doesn’t take their orders from Stephen Miller.”

For his part, Mullin has made some public commitments to running DHS differently from his predecessor, Kristi Noem.

Mullin said he plans to abandon Noem’s policy of requiring the secretary to sign off on any expense of more than $100,000, a dynamic that delayed payments from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

As cited by Heinrich, Mullin seemed to endorse the concept of ICE needing a judicial warrant to arrest and deport someone, rather than the DHS-issued administrative warrant the department has used in some instances. He also said he had not been given a deportation quota.

“I have made it very clear to the staff, and I think when you and I spoke, that a judicial warrant will be used to go into houses, in a place of businesses, unless we’re pursuing someone that enters in that place,” Mullin said during his hearing.

As for how he would like to see immigration policy changed, Mullin said only that he’d like to see more cooperation with local law enforcement, where they would turn over to ICE anyone who had been removed.

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) also called on Mullin to work with DHS’s inspector general after he complained Noem was systematically obstructing his work, encouraging him to also be more communicative with Congress.

“My advice to him is be transparent and responsive to the American people. Answer our letters. Protect whistleblowers. Hear whistleblowers out,” Grassley said.

“There’s no way a secretary can know what’s going on in the bowels of the department. And that’s why, when people come to you saying things aren’t right, money’s not being spent right, the law’s not being followed — listen to them.”

Rhapsody Of Realities 24 March 2026: The Gospel Of Deliverance

Rhapsody Of Realities 24 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): The Gospel Of Deliverance

TOPIC: The Gospel Of Deliverance (Rhapsody of Realities 24 March 2026)

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Someone once asked why I don’t preach on “deliverance”; I actually do, but not in the way some expect. I believe the Word of God brings true deliverance, and the moment you receive Christ, you’re delivered. The Gospel itself is the Gospel of deliverance.

Salvation comes by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in His resurrection. That confession of His lordship is deliverance in itself because the lordship of Jesus Christ over your life completely broke the dominion of Satan. You can’t have Jesus as Lord of your life and, at the same time, have Satan ruling over you; that’s impossible.

Now, some worry about what they call generational bondage or curses. But the Bible already gives the answer to that in 2 Corinthians 5:17. It says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” That means the problem some Christians have is not bondage but ignorance. There’s a mentality some still carry that has kept them defeated, oppressed and in satanic strongholds. But what did the Lord Jesus say, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). The truth is that in Christ, you’ve been begotten into a new life, a living hope by His resurrection. Hallelujah!

When He died, you died with Him. When He was buried, you were buried with Him. When God raised Him from the dead, you were raised together with Him. Now the Bible says, “Giving thanks unto the Father… Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:12-13).

Thus, the true deliverance is the lordship of Jesus Christ over your life. Now that you’re in Him, you’re seated in the highest place of authority, dominion and power. Ephesians 2:6 says you’ve been raised up together and made to sit together with Christ in heavenly places. Ephesians 1:21 describes this seat of power as “Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come” (Ephesians 1:21). You’re superior to Satan; you therefore don’t need any deliverance from him.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for my glorious life in Christ and the blessed liberty of the Spirit to love you, fellowship with you, serve you and live for you. Thank you for the victory and dominion I have over Satan and the powers of darkness. I live free, bold, and triumphant every day, walking in the truth of your Word, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Colossians 1:12-13 (NIV) and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. [13] For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

John 8:36 (KJV) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Air Canada Identifies Second Pilot in Fatal LaGuardia Crash

0

The tragic accident at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport that claimed the lives of two Air Canada pilots has unveiled the identity of the second victim. MacKenzie Gunther, who was serving as the first officer on the ill-fated Air Canada Express Flight 646 from Montreal, perished alongside his colleague, pilot Antoine Forest.

Radio-Canada reported that Forest, aged 30 and hailing from Coteau-du-Lac in Quebec, was piloting the Bombardier CRJ-900 when the disaster struck. The aircraft landed late Sunday night under the cover of rain, colliding fatally with a fire truck that inadvertently crossed the runway at approximately 11:47 p.m.

The aircraft, moving at a speed of about 150 mph, met the fire truck in a catastrophic crash, causing a massive spray of water to erupt as the impact propelled the truck across the tarmac. Surveillance footage captured the dramatic moment, highlighting the chaotic aftermath.

The collision resulted in 41 individuals being urgently transported to the hospital. Among those injured were two firefighters who were inside the fire truck at the time and a flight attendant who was thrown an astonishing 330 feet from the aircraft.

Forty-one people were rushed to the hospital following the collision, including two firefighters who were inside the firetruck at the time of the crash and a flight attendant who was thrown 330 feet from the plane.

There had been 72 passengers and four crew members aboard the aircraft, and experts said the death toll could have been far higher if the truck had collided with the fuel stored on the plane.

Federal authorities are now investigating what may have caused the fatal collision, as audio from air traffic control revealed workers pleaded for the fire truck to stop seconds before it crashed into the landing jet.

The fire truck had been given permission to cross the runway to deal with an unrelated issue on a separate plane, where a pilot reported that an ‘odor’ was filling the aircraft that left ‘flight attendants feeling ill’, officials said.

As the fire truck raced to the other aircraft, air traffic controllers appeared to realize it was on a collision course with the Air Canada jet just seconds before impact at around 11.30pm, as one said in the audio: ‘Truck One, stop, stop, stop!’

Addressing the plane seconds later, the air traffic controller said: ‘JAZZ 646, I see you collided with the vehicle. Just hold position. I know you can’t move. Vehicles are responding to you now.’

Images from the tarmac after the incident showed the truck was destroyed in the collision. The nose of the Air Canada plane had also been torn off by the impact.

The deadly crash left LaGuardia Airport closed for several hours, before it reopened Monday afternoon at a reduced capacity while the wrecked plane and firetruck remain on the tarmac.

National Transportation Safety Board members will now comb through the wreckage to figure out what to collect and take back to a lab in Washington DC, Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy said at a news conference.

But authorities have already been able to retrieve the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder, Homendy told reporters.

She said the NTSB, Port Authority and emergency responders had to cut a hole in the roof of the aircraft and drop down into the wreckage to secure the devices.

They were then taken back to labs in Washington DC, and investigators have ‘been able to at least verify that the cockpit voice recorder was not damaged,’ Homendy said.

The deadly crash came amid an ongoing nationwide shortage of air traffic controllers, and sources told NBC News that the air traffic controller on duty Sunday night had been working two positions at the time of the crash.

The NTSB is now working to verify preliminary information about staffing at the air traffic control tower at the time of the crash.

‘We have to look at records,’ Homendy said. ‘There are sign-in sheets. We have to do interviews. We have to look at time cards. That is information we always have to corroborate.’

But Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has refuted the claim, as he vowed to offer bonuses for older air traffic controllers on Monday.

UK Counterterrorism Authorities Investigate Antisemitic Arson Incident Linked to Iran-Connected Organization

In a disturbing incident early Monday morning, counterterrorism officers have taken charge of an investigation after four ambulances owned by the Jewish community were set on fire outside a synagogue in London. Authorities are approaching this case as an antisemitic hate crime.

The attack unfolded at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the Golders Green area, where Hatzola ambulances, operated by the Jewish community as a volunteer emergency service, were intentionally torched in the synagogue’s parking lot. This information comes from a statement made by Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams of the Metropolitan Police.

Williams described the arson as an antisemitic hate crime, emphasizing the profound impact on the Jewish community. He noted that though the incident hasn’t been officially labeled as terrorism, the Counterterrorism Policing team is leading the investigation, exploring all possible leads.

According to the Jewish Chronicle, a video has surfaced online allegedly showing a group called Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, known for its Iranian ties and responsibility for recent assaults on Jewish sites in Belgium and the Netherlands, claiming credit for the attack in London.

Authorities are examining a potential link to a newly emerged group with suspected ties to Iran. “We are aware of an online claim from a group taking responsibility for this attack,” Williams said. “Establishing the authenticity and accuracy of this claim will be a priority… but it is not something we can confirm at this point.”

Alan Mendoza, executive director of the Henry Jackson Society, told Fox News Digital that the attack reflects years of policy failures in confronting Iranian activity on British soil. “Successive U.K. Governments have completely failed in their primary duty of keeping the home front safe. Iranian terrorist activity has been known about in the U.K. for years yet no significant moves have been made to ban the IRGC or restrict the ability of regime-linked entities to function within British society. We have created the conditions for terrorism to flourish,” he said.

He argued that Britain’s broader approach to the conflict with Iran — attempting to maintain distance while avoiding direct confrontation — has further emboldened Tehran. “The current policy on the war in Iran is delusional. The Government is pretending Britain is not involved. The Iranian regime does not, however, believe in neutrality and has decided its position for us: ripe for targeting.”

Joe Truzman, a senior research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said in a post on X that “My initial assessment is that the attack could potentially be linked to Ashab al-Yamin, an Iran-linked group that has carried out multiple attacks against Jewish institutions across Europe since the war began… Hopefully this is something different, but the possibility that the group is involved should be examined.”

Police said they are searching for three suspects seen on CCTV pouring an accelerant onto the vehicles before igniting them. No injuries were reported, though nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution.

The attack comes amid a broader wave of violence targeting Jewish communities across Europe in recent weeks.

Scott Saunders, CEO of the International March of the Living, said the incident represents a dangerous escalation. “The arson attack in Golders Green… marks a dangerous escalation in the targeting of Jewish communities,” Saunders said. “Emergency vehicles operated by Jewish volunteer first responders were deliberately attacked… in direct proximity to a place of worship — a space that should represent safety.”

“These ambulances do not only serve Jewish communities… Targeting them is an attack not only on Jewish life, but on the shared fabric of the community they serve,” he added. “Since the war with Iran began, antisemitic attacks have become more frequent, more brazen, and more direct. Jewish institutions are being singled out; synagogues, community spaces, and now even the emergency services that exist to protect Jewish lives, with a growing sense that these are legitimate targets. Following the deadly shooting in and around a synagogue in Manchester last October, where this escalation already resulted in loss of life, the attack in Golders Green makes clear that this trajectory is continuing.”

Dr. Charles Asher Small, founder of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy, said the attack reflects a broader trend.

“The attack against a visible Jewish target is not an isolated act of vandalism; it is the violent fruition of a climate where Jew-hatred has been normalized and institutionalized,” Small said.

“At the center of this malignancy sits the Iranian regime… which actively funds and directs the networks that view British Jewish institutions as legitimate targets,” he added.

British officials also condemned the attack.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “An attack on our Jewish community is an attack on us all. We will fight the poison that is antisemitism.”

Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis called the incident on X “a particularly sickening assault — not only on the Jewish community, but on the values we share as a society.”

“The targeting of Hatzola… is a most painful illustration of the ongoing battle between those who sanctify life and those who seek to destroy it,” he added in a statement posted March 23, 2026.

Police said there have been no arrests and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Unlocking Extra Income: How New Proposals Could Boost Aussies’ Earnings by $2,465 Annually

0
About three million Australians could earn $2465 more each year under a new proposal floated ahead of the annual wage review.

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) is advocating for a 5% boost to the minimum wage as the Fair Work Commission prepares to reassess rates for implementation on July 1.

Should the proposal be accepted, the hourly wage for full-time minimum wage workers would increase from $24.95 to $26.19, translating to an annual salary change from $49,296 to $51,761.

The increase would put more into the pockets of an estimated three million workers, particularly those in the hospitality and retail, disability and health care sectors.
ACTU Secretary Sally McManus has pointed to the war in Iran and the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) interest rate hikes as one of the reasons to raise minimum wages.

“It’s no secret that Australia’s lowest-paid employees are facing tough times, bearing the brunt of rising living costs as landlords hike rents and supermarkets and fuel companies escalate prices for profit,” a spokesperson noted.

“We will not accept the lowest-paid workers in Australia going backwards because of the Reserve Bank and Donald Trump.

“During the last inflation surge, workers were the hardest hit. We must avoid a repeat of that scenario, which is why it’s crucial for low-income earners to receive a fair wage increase,” they added.

In contrast, RBA Governor Michele Bullock emphasized the importance of maintaining low and stable inflation, stating, “Our most significant contribution to full employment, and indeed to investment and productivity, lies in achieving this economic stability.”

“The best contribution we can make to full employment and in fact to things like investment and productivity and so on, is to have low and stable inflation,” RBA Governor Michele Bullock said at the time.

The ACTU said housing costs and power prices are driving inflation, while a minimum wage increase would only make up an estimated 0.6 per cent of the national wage bill.

“Of course, employer groups will say that any wage rise will put pressure on inflation, like they do every year, and every time they have been wrong,” McManus said.

The peak body made the submission to the Fair Work Commission ahead of its annual review into minimum wage and minimum pay rates under awards.

The commission holds hearings in May and implements any changes on the first full pay period on or after July 1.
