Boxer Isis Sio Placed in Medically Induced Coma Following Knockout in Recent Match

Isis Sio, a young boxing talent, is facing a critical health battle following a severe injury in the ring.

The 19-year-old athlete has been placed in a medically induced coma after suffering a knockout in the initial round of a ProBox TV card match on March 21, the organization disclosed. The incident occurred during a bout against Jocelyn Camarillo, where Sio was subjected to multiple head blows, according to ESPN.

ProBox TV, in a statement released on March 22, expressed their heartfelt concern: “On behalf of CEO Garry Jonas and the entire ProBox family, we are sending prayers for Isis Sio’s swift recovery. Our thoughts are firmly with her and her loved ones during this challenging period. We urge everyone to join us in wishing for her full recovery.”

Sio, who turned professional last September, has a record of one win and three losses. Her promising career is now on hold as she battles for her health following this unfortunate incident in the ring.

Isis—whose turned professional in September and so far has gone 1-3 in the ring—was competing against Jocelyn Camarillo in the match when she was knocked out, per ESPN, after receiving a series of head shots.

The outlet reports she received immediate medical attention and could be seen convulsing as she was taken out of the arena on a stretcher. The teenager is receiving medical treatment at the Loma Linda University Health medical center.

Tragic Incident: Man Accused of Killing Grandmother Over Money Dispute, Body Found on Patio

In a shocking incident in Texas, a young man stands accused of fatally shooting his grandmother over a financial dispute. The 21-year-old, identified as Rontrell Jackson, allegedly shot his 68-year-old grandmother after she refused to give him his allowance. He then reportedly moved her body to the patio and concealed it with a blanket.

Jackson was apprehended last week and now faces a murder charge for the tragic death of his grandmother, as confirmed by local authorities.

As of Monday afternoon, officials had not disclosed the victim’s identity, respecting privacy concerns.

The Arlington Police Department detailed the events in a news release. At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Friday, officers were called to an apartment complex on Carriage House Circle. A family member had discovered the woman unresponsive outside her front door, covered by a blanket on the patio.

Emergency medical teams arrived promptly but, despite their efforts, confirmed that the woman had been shot and pronounced her dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Jackson and the victim had recently been involved in a “heated argument” that “led to the loss of Mr. Jackson’s allowance money,” the release states.

When questioned by investigators, Jackson allegedly admitted to “shooting the victim earlier that morning inside the apartment, then dragging her body out to the patio.”

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Jackson with his grandmother’s murder. He was subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Arlington City Jail. Upon searching the apartment, police recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting, according to the release.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s identity after notifying her next of kin. The office will also determine the victim’s official cause and manner of death.

Jackson has since been transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where he is currently being held on $750,000 bond, records show. It was not immediately clear when he was scheduled to make his first appearance in court.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing.

Trump Criticizes Reporter Over Inquiry on US Military Presence in Iran: A Heated Exchange

0

President Donald Trump recently expressed his frustration at a reporter who inquired whether the United States planned to deploy ground troops to Iran amidst ongoing negotiations between the White House and Iranian officials. He dismissed the question as ‘crazy’, underscoring the tense atmosphere surrounding these diplomatic efforts.

In recent weeks, the deployment of thousands of U.S. Marines to the Middle East has drawn significant attention. Reports indicate that at least two Marine units, totaling over 4,500 personnel, have been directed towards the region with Iran as a focal point.

Trump’s comments came during an impromptu press interaction aboard Air Force One. This occurred just hours after he announced a decision to pause military strikes on Iranian energy facilities, a move made in response to Tehran’s gesture of opening peace talks with the U.S. However, Tehran has publicly denied initiating any such discussions.

A reporter posed a direct question to Trump: “It’s been reported that there are Marines who left California, left San Diego last week, at the end of the week. Why are they headed there now?” This query highlighted the deployment of approximately 2,500 Marines, who embarked on a mission to the Middle East from San Diego late last week, a detail confirmed by the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Furthermore, the dispatch of the USS Tripoli from the Pacific, carrying more than 2,000 Marines, underscores the U.S. military’s increased readiness in the region, adding to the unfolding narrative of heightened tension and strategic maneuvering in the Middle East.

Trump immediately shot back: ‘Well, let me ask you this. If you were in my position and I asked you that question, do you really believe I’d give you that? It’s a crazy question.’

The President has repeatedly refused to answer media questions about upcoming military actions in the war, saying that if he did, the operational security of the plans would be compromised.

If those talks go sideways and Iran doesn’t cooperate, Trump said US forces will keep ‘bombing our little hearts out.’

The President said Monday morning in a social media post that the US will hold off on striking Iranian energy infrastructure as the two countries look to strike a deal.

Within the hour, Iranian officials swatted down those claims, saying the President and his team were not in contact with their officials.

An Iranian official told Fars News Agency, which is aligned with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, that there is ‘no direct or indirect contact with Trump.’

Markets lurched on Trump’s announcement, initially surging before pulling back. Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, swung from $92 a barrel to as high as $103 in chaotic trading.

The Dow swung 700 points before the opening bell and was last up around 1.4 percent.

Trump said he had ordered the Pentagon ‘to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure’ for five days, speaking to Fox Business and CNBC on Monday morning as he sought to soothe markets.

Later in the morning, Trump doubled down.

‘I didn’t call, they called; they want to make a deal.’

Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were in talks with Iranian officials on Sunday, the President said.

‘We have had very, very strong talks. We’ll see where they lead. We have major points of agreement… They went, I would say, perfectly. I would say that if they carry through with that, it’ll end that problem, that conflict.’

The US is demanding in the negotiations that Iran give up its ambitions to create a nuclear weapon.

‘We want to see no nuclear bomb, no nuclear weapon — not even close to it — low key on the missiles, we want to see peace in the Middle East. We want the nuclear dust… I think we’re going to get that.’

The President added that Iran had agreed ‘not have nuclear weapons any more,’ though there has not been reporting indicating they have actually created one.

Still, the President reiterated his claim that Iran was on a path to make a nuclear weapon ‘in two weeks’ had the US and Israel not taken military action.

However, the administration has yet to get in contact with the country’s new ayatollah, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former leader who was reportedly injured in US strikes.

‘We have not heard from the son,’ Trump told reporters.

Iran has attacked oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz since the US and Israel first struck the country on February 28.

The attacks and subsequent closure of the Strait have caused a global energy crisis.

US gas prices have surged to an average of $4.00 per gallon nationwide, up from $2.90 before the conflict began three weeks ago.

The narrow strait – through which a fifth of the world’s oil flows – remains blocked by the threat of Iranian mines and missiles.

Why Aren’t Australians Embracing 80c/Litre Fuel? Unveiling the Untapped Potential of Affordable Energy

0

In Brief

  • LPG is a cheaper fuel option for motorists, and a source available locally.
  • The debate around fuel supply has renewed questions about LPG’s viability as an alternative fuel source for cars.

In Australia, LPG is priced at about half that of standard unleaded fuel. It’s locally produced and emits fewer pollutants than traditional petrol. Despite these advantages, the availability of LPG at service stations is on the decline nationwide.

As worries intensify over Australia’s fuel supply and the increasing cost of petrol due to tensions in the Middle East, some drivers are advocating for LPG, also known as Autogas, as a viable alternative. They are urging for wider accessibility to this fuel option.

Susanna Doria, a Sydney-based entrepreneur who operates a small automotive parts business, specializes in converting petrol vehicles to run on LPG.

Recently, Doria has noticed a surge in inquiries about these conversions. She attributes this interest to the rising fuel prices and the current global fuel crisis.

Doria emphasizes the importance of including LPG in the market to provide consumers with more fuel choices and alternatives.

“Long term, it should be an option available to motorists. We shouldn’t be taking it away. We should be giving them the options for them to decide what fuel they want to run,” she said.

What is LPG?

LPG — or liquefied petroleum gas — is a type of fuel that is a mixture of propane and butane. It became popular in Australia after the 1970s global oil crisis.

It’s lower in emissions — one study in Europe suggested it produced 15 per cent less carbon dioxide than petrol-fuelled cars. However, it’s not as efficient compared to petrol, and more litres are required to run the same distance as a petrol car.

Doria has been using LPG for 40 years in her car, which also runs on petrol.

“It does everything exactly the same. You wouldn’t know except for a button on the dash that you can choose between LPG or petrol. Very simple,” she told SBS News.

It is usually around half the cost of petrol per litre. In Sydney the cost of LPG is averaging around $1.13 per litre, according to the NRMA, while in Melbourne it’s 80c per litre, according to Fuel Price Australia.

Given that Australia is a gas producer, motorists like Doria argue the price should be even lower than that.

“The price you see at the bowser is not a reflection of the cost of getting the LPG, if it was Australia and we supplied it,” she said.

“Unfortunately, the pricing of LPG is no different to the pricing for petrol or diesel, it’s an algorithm that’s applied based on an international rate.”

Doria said political decisions have affected the availability and costs of LPG.

“We should be self-sufficient in fuel. We shouldn’t be relying on other countries to get it, given that we have so much of it (LPG) here,” she said.

“We export it to our trade partners for a fraction, like minuscule amounts of money, but we don’t make it available to our local community and our local motorists.”

Hussein Dia, a professor of Future Urban Mobility at Swinburne University of Technology, said local production would mean Australia wouldn’t need to rely on imports.

“You don’t need to worry about shipping costs, you don’t need to worry about all what we’re going through, like high insurance.

“I would expect, per litre, it could be lower (in cost).”

But he said that’s only one part of the story — the other part is building the actual LPG vehicle market itself, which has shrunk significantly.

What happened to LPG in Australia?

Sales of LPG-running cars boomed in the mid-2000s when the government offered subsidies and local car manufacturers Ford and Holden created factory-installed systems on Falcons and Commodores.

But today, there are around just 51,000 cars that run on LPG and natural gas only across the country, according to figures from the Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport.

In 2018, no new LPG cars were sold and it’s no longer possible to buy a new one; used vehicles or conversions are the only options for interested buyers.

With fewer such cars on the road, the number of petrol stations that offer the fuel is also dwindling. In NSW, according to government fuel apps, there are fewer than 200 service stations that sell LPG — and most of those are concentrated in metro Sydney areas. In Victoria, it’s 637, and in Western Australia, there are now just 50 from the 329 a decade ago.

The demise of local car manufacturing, the rise of hybrid and electric vehicles and a lack of federal support are all blamed for the steady decline of LPG-running cars in Australia.

When government subsidies to convert cars ceased, and the introduction of a fuel excise on LPG sales was introduced in 2011, prices became more expensive and the economic incentive to move to LPG was removed.

Dia said when the incentives disappeared, the conversions of cars to LPG practically stopped.

Andrew Blakers, the director of the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems at the Australian National University, said electric vehicles won the race to replace the petrol vehicle and LPG simply “failed” in the marketplace.

“Governments can help nudge technology here or there, but unless they want to spend very large amounts of money, in the end, the market does determine what wins,” he told SBS News.

“It’s just game over,” he said.

Is there still a future for LPG?

Doria said her main dilemma is finding a station that still supplies LPG, though she has two within her suburb.

“We’re losing stations. We’re losing the ability to go to a service station and fill up with LPG,” she said.

“The largest complaint we get from customers today is they used to be able to pull up down the road or somewhere else, and now they’re having to go further to find LPG.”

Because LPG-fuelled cars are no longer sold in Australia, those who want it as an option would have to retrofit the car.

For those willing to consider LPG conversion, the cost is also not cheap: around $2,000 to $5,000.

NRMA spokesman Peter Khoury said LPG conversion is not a viable option for most people.

“I mean, for the purpose of this crisis, I don’t know how many people are going to go out and put an LPG tank in their boot,” he told SBS News.

“I’m not sure why you’d convert to LPG when there’s only 80 odd servos in Sydney selling them.”

Dia said it would take a massive effort to renew an LPG vehicle industry.

“You would need to rebuild not just the vehicle market, but also the refuelling network, which is already shrinking. That’s why the focus is shifting to electric vehicles, to the infrastructure is actually expanding, not contracting.”

Perez Hilton’s Shocking 21-Day Hospital Stay: Unraveling the Health Crisis That Nearly Broke Him

Perez Hilton recently shared how a simple mistake with flu medication led to a significant health scare that kept him hospitalized for 21 days.

In a YouTube video posted on Monday, Hilton opened up about what he described as a “crazy saga,” admitting, “My own foolishness put me in the hospital for 21 days. It was simultaneously the worst and best experience of my life.”

Hilton recounted that he had been suffering from the flu for about a week. He emphasized that he doesn’t indulge in partying or misuse substances.

He explained, “I took medication for the flu consistently over that week. However, and this is crucial, I never took the medication with food. I’ve never done that, although you’re supposed to.”

This oversight led the 47-year-old celebrity blogger to develop an ulcer, which then progressed to a perforation and eventually sepsis.

“People die of sepsis,” he tearfully continued. “The day before I was hospitalized, I was in so much stomach pain. I was like ‘This is weird, but it’ll go away.’”

But by the next morning Hilton — born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. — “couldn’t walk” and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.

“I ended up being there for 21 days. I felt like I knew everybody by the time I left,” he said.

“The first few days were a lot of pain and constant tests, X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, because they couldn’t find where the perforation was. So that was scary.”

After five days, he had laparoscopic surgery to “flip around all of [his] organs” trying to find the perforation, followed by another major procedure because his organs were still infected.

“They inserted I don’t know what inside of me and drained a ton more infection out of me and then the sepsis just kept working and my body kept falling apart. My heart got out of control, they had to put me on heart medications. And then, I developed another infection in the hospital.”

Hilton said that over the two weeks in the hospital he could only eat through a feeding tube.

“Isn’t that crazy? ‘Cause I love food,” he joked. “Everything was through IV.”

Once he was able to start eating regularly again, it was a “whole other process” because it can be “hard on the body” as well as “humiliating” because he was having “a lot of accidents.”

“I felt so humiliated and sad and bad to have to keep calling [the nurse] because I kept having accidents in the bed. But she was so kind and patient,” he praised. “It was just such a slow process. Two weeks of just sickness and then another week of getting better before I was released.”

“Now that I am home, I am not 100 percent,” he noted, showing a pick line into his arm. “It’s like a scary IV with two lines, and one goes to my heart.”

Hilton also shared that he is using this health scare as a learning lesson and is going to slow down his lifestyle and be more present with his three children.

“I’m going to have dinner with my kids and my mom every night from now on,” he pledged, before thanking his entire family for supporting him through this difficult time.

On Saturday, the media personality took to Instagram to share videos and photos of himself wearing an oxygen mask while in a hospital bed at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas.

Despite the concerning uploads, he made sure to note he “received the best care” from the medical staff and told his followers that he would “soon” explain what was wrong.

Watch: Vigilant Citizen Foils Grand Theft Attempt Outside Florida Starbucks

A dramatic arrest unfolded in Daytona Beach, Florida, as a man accused of driving a stolen vehicle was apprehended outside a Starbucks on Saturday. The arrest happened after a quick-thinking bystander detained him until police could step in, as shown in police body camera footage.

Brandon Rabbitts was identified by the Port Orange Police Department as the individual operating a vehicle reported stolen during a recent business break-in.

When Rabbitts attempted to evade capture, a K-9 officer from the Edgewater Police Department joined the pursuit. Rabbitts’ reckless driving endangered public safety as he sped onto Interstate 95, authorities noted.

The high-speed chase ended when an officer skillfully executed a PIT maneuver, forcing the vehicle to stop in front of a Starbucks, as captured by the officer’s body camera.

Rabbitts then made a run for the Starbucks, but a vigilant bystander managed to hold him until law enforcement arrived to make the arrest, according to the footage.

Rabbits was arrested and charged with burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, grand theft of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended or revoked license, fleeing or attempting to elude, obstructing an officer without violence and fleeing at a high speed.

The police department said a passenger was also arrested.

“We also extend our appreciation to a vigilant citizen who assisted during the incident,” EPD said.

Influencer’s Bold Outfit Sparks Disney Staff Warning: A Viral Controversy Unfolds

A Brazilian social media personality has shared that Disney staff cautioned her after receiving complaints from other guests regarding her “inappropriate” attire.

Marina Smith, a 27-year-old fashion and lifestyle influencer from Sao Paulo, Brazil, visited Walt Disney World in Orlando on March 16. She intended to experience the attractions and create content for her social media presence.

With over 9,000 followers on Instagram, Marina chose an outfit she described as “short and form-fitting” for her day at the park, consisting of a white tie-front blouse and blue denim jeans.

Initially, she noticed fellow visitors glancing her way and whispering among themselves before any official intervention occurred.

Eventually, a park staff member reportedly approached Marina, informing her that some guests had raised concerns about her attire, suggesting it might not be suitable for the park’s family-friendly setting.

Marina revealed that she was rather taken aback by the striking interaction, as she considered the outfit to be normal and rather modest in other settings.

‘It’s something I would normally wear on trips or in other places. I didn’t think it would cause this kind of reaction there,’ she said.

‘What caught my attention the most was realising that people preferred to complain instead of speaking directly to me.’

Disney’s official dress code policy, which applies to all guests ages 14 and older, prohibits clothing that ‘exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.’

According to Marina, despite the warning by staff members, she was able to continue her visit to the park afterwards without any further interaction with staff members.

Yet while there was ‘no argument’ between her and fellow park-goers, the situation still ‘stood out to me because of how people reacted’, she said.

She later took to Instagram to post a picture of her dressed in the controversial outfit, posing in front of Disney’s castle with the caption: ‘Not ever princess wants to be saved… some write their own story’.

Marina added she was always careful about her outfits to match the occasion and launched a personal shopping service for single men, charging up to £230 per hour to help them prepare for dates and social occasions.

In June, Disney World ignited a heated debate on social media after a customer claimed she was denied access to a Disney World ride due to her ‘inappropriate’ gym attire.

Nicole Arena, a personal trainer from the U.S., took to TikTok earlier this month to document her experience during a visit to Orlando’s Walt Disney World Epcot park with her husband.

In a series of videos posted to her account @arenalifts, Arena said she was ‘dress-coded’ for wearing a white Nike sports bra and black leggings – an outfit she described as typical gym wear.

Uploading a selfie with her partner taken inside the park, she wrote in overlay text: ‘Was so happy to be here that I didn’t realize I was “improperly dressed” and would be forced to buy a $45 [£33] tshirt or else I could not get on the ride I waited an hour for.’

In a follow-up clip, Arena showed off the outfit in question, which consisted of a fitted sports bra and high-waisted leggings, adding in a caption: ‘I really didn’t think anything of this tbh.’

The parkgoer explained in another video that she had ‘nothing showing’ other than her stomach and arms, and blasted viewers who suggested she had arrived at Disney World ‘naked’.

She added: ‘Anyone who goes to the gym knows it’s totally fine to walk around with a sports bra and leggings on. I just went to Disney, how I would go to the gym.’

The videos racked up hundreds of thousands of views and sparked a flurry of conflicting opinions in the comments.

The Daily Mail approached Walt Disney World Orlando for comment.

Repeat Offender with Over 10 Convictions Arrested for Reversing on Highway: Police Report

A driver described as a “habitual” offender was recently caught on camera driving in reverse along a bustling Florida road, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Department.

The department reported that on March 13, they received numerous calls about a silver sedan traveling backwards on SR 100, a heavily trafficked highway in northeast Florida.

Footage from the scene captures the silver car navigating backwards through a median on the busy roadway.

A car drives down a freeway in reverse.

William Murphy III, the driver, explained to deputies that he believed reversing to an AutoZone store was his best course of action after experiencing what he claimed was a mechanical issue with his vehicle.

The sheriff’s office revealed that their Time Crime Center was able to track the vehicle to a Panda Express parking lot. Eventually, deputies intercepted the car near SR 100 and Airport Road once it had been turned around and was headed in the right direction.

The driver, identified as William Murphy III, 47, of Palm Coast, said the car had a mechanical issue, and he “thought the best option” was to drive it backward to AutoZone, officials said.

“Except his mechanical issues evaporated when deputies got behind him … or was it in front of him?” the sheriff’s office said.

In police worn body camera video, Murphy is heard attempting to explain away his reverse driving.

“I didn’t think that I was that bad … you know what I’m saying … I wasn’t even swerving or anything like that or driving fast,” Murphy told the deputy.

“You were driving backward on the road!” the deputy is heard replying.

Shocking Incident: Woman Shoots Man During Heated Argument, Sleeps Peacefully After Daring Challenge

0

Diane Wetherbee (Custer County Sheriff’s Office).

In a startling incident out of Idaho, a woman is accused of shooting a man in the leg with a .380 pistol before casually going to bed, seemingly unfazed. This bizarre episode unfolded after the man reportedly dared her to pull the trigger during an argument, authorities say.

Diane Wetherbee, aged 65, now faces charges of felony aggravated battery involving a deadly weapon, according to online court records accessed by Law&Crime. As part of the legal proceedings, a restraining order has been issued, prohibiting her from contacting the victim.

Court documents, as detailed by East Idaho News, reveal that the altercation occurred while Wetherbee and the man were consuming alcohol at a residence in Challis. The man reportedly handed her the firearm and incited her to shoot, a challenge she allegedly accepted.

Following the shooting, Wetherbee retreated to an upstairs bedroom, where she swiftly fell asleep, as reported in the court documents. Another individual present at the scene did not witness the shooting but confirmed hearing a single gunshot, according to the police.

Authorities were notified and arrived at the home at approximately 11:23 p.m. on Saturday. Wetherbee, found asleep, was subsequently arrested. The .380 pistol believed to have been used in the incident was discovered on the bedroom floor, amidst pools of blood.

Investigators found more blood during a search of the residence, including a bloody pair of boots found near the back door of the home, East Idaho News reports, citing the court documents. Wetherbee allegedly confessed to shooting the man on her way to the Custer County Jail, where she was booked.

Wetherbee was being held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 30 for a preliminary hearing. A judge issued a no-contact order on Thursday demanding that she stay away from the victim, according to online records.

Wetherbee reportedly faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
