Open Heaven 10 March 2024 MESSAGE

When you are in a service, and everyone is praying that fire should fall, you must beware, because when the fire of God falls, some people die, and some others rejoice. When the fire of God falls, those who do not belong to Him are consumed, while those who belong to Him are empowered.

In Daniel 3:19-30, when they threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego into the fire, their yokes were destroyed by the fire, they walked out of the fire into promotion, but those who were not on the side of the Lord that got close to that fire were consumed.

Some years ago, as I was preaching during a service, the fire of God fell. While people were getting their healings, a woman ran out of the service. From outside the hall, she beckoned on the fellow she came with to bring her bag so that she could go home. Surprised, the fellow asked her why she couldn’t come in to get her bag herself, and she said that there was fire in the place and she couldn’t come in for fear of being burnt. When the fire of God comes down, while it brings healings and promotions to God’s children, it can destroy those who are not on the Lord’s side. So, before you join those who are asking for fire to fall, if you are not already on God’s side, please cross over.

I should also note that sometimes, the fire of God comes down unexpectedly in the middle of a service. Even the preacher may be unaware that God is about to rain down fire. When the fire falls, only those who are on Christ’s side will be safe. The reason I chose the passage in our Bible reading for today is that I want to speak particularly to those who are workers in the church and who are still dipping their hands into sin. Surrender your life completely to the Lord Jesus Christ because if you are standing by when the fire begins to fall, and you are not on the Lord’s side, the result might not be very pleasant.

God usually gives room for repentance, but that is until His fire falls. The day the fire falls is the day of consequences – there is no repentance after that. Many are nursing diseases and other terrible issues because when the fire of God fell, they were not on His side.

1 And Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.

3 And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

4 And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter: now his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they were come.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

There are great consequences when we deviate from the moral compass guiding our lives. The world can only be a fair place if there is justice. Sometimes, the innocent suffers unjustly. However, the immoral shall not go unpunished.

Today’s text contains the account of four principal actors. First, Dinah, Leah’s daughter, who went out to see the daughters of the land and became a victim of rape. Her sauntering into and mixing with the daughters of the land turned out to be her undoing. Second, Shechem, the son of Hamor, who defiled Dinah and tried to appease her with a marriage proposal. Third, Hamor, the father of Shechem who, though heard of the abomination, did not condemn it; thereby failing in his parental responsibility. Fourth, the sons of Jacob who pretentiously agreed with Shechem and Hamor with the intent to avenge the defiling of their sister. The actions or inactions of each of these characters had grave consequences.

When a believer, like Dinah, chooses to wander away into the midst of unfriendly friends, such becomes a ready prey upon which the enemy of his soul prowls. When parents and leaders, like Hamor, decide to keep mute in the face of immoral behaviour of their children and followers, grave repercussion lies ahead. The actions of the sons of Jacob also had repercussion. Their deception and vengeance caused the death of many people and eventually led to the sudden evacuation of this family from that community.

We are warned against unequal yoke with unbelievers since light and darkness cannot dwell together. Failure to adhere to the biblical injunctions on separation from the world, transparent holy living, standing for the truth and non- retaliation, attract the wrath of God.

Man from Gainesville apprehended for theft of unique copper gutters from a church

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Roddez Leron Coar, 24, was arrested yesterday and charged with burglary, grand theft, and dealing in stolen property after allegedly stealing a large quantity of copper gutters from First United Methodist Church and selling them to a recycling company.

The theft was reported on March 5 by a representative of the recycling company, who told a Gainesville Police Department Officer that someone from the church had called and told the company to watch for copper gutters. The representative said the gutters are extremely rare because copper hasn’t been used for gutters for decades.

The church is in the process of replacing its roof, and the copper gutters had been stacked in a fenced area while waiting for the roofing company to pick them up and sell them, with proceeds going to the church. The church first noticed that some of the gutters were missing on February 22.

An employee of the recycling company told the officer that he was very familiar with Coar, who had brought in copper gutters on four occasions and was a “regular” at the business before that. The most recent sale was reportedly on March 2, when the recycling business paid $157.14 for some of the gutters.

Since a representative of the church had said that a “big pile” of the gutters had disappeared the previous night, the recycling business notified the officer when Coar arrived around noon with 493 pounds of copper gutters. The business paid Coar and a second man $1,434.63 for the materials.

Multiple witnesses at the church reported seeing two black males climbing into the fenced area; one of the men reportedly said, “Just so you know – we’re not stealing it.” By the time the witnesses had contacted the church leadership, the two men had loaded up the truck and left. The witnesses provided descriptions of the men and Coar’s truck, which was also recognized by the employee of the recycling business.

Coar has three felony convictions (two violent) and has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release in December 2021. A sworn complaint was filed against him on February 6 for having a stolen license plate on his truck, but he reportedly said the truck belonged to his father and he didn’t know anything about the tag being stolen, and the charge was later dropped.

Judge Lorelie Brannan set bail at $90,000.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Christopher Charles Chell, 46, a middle school teacher and Athletic Director at St. Patrick Interparish School, was arrested yesterday and charged with ten counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child between 12 and 16 years old.

According to a press release from Gainesville Police Department, Chell had gained the trust of several middle school girls, abusing his position as their physical education teacher and coach. Over the course of several months, Chell allegedly engaged in a pattern of behavior that escalated from inappropriate touching to criminal acts.

A letter sent last week from Father Lawrence Peck to St. Patrick families announced that Chell was no longer employed by the school. The letter said that Chell had been at the school for 4.5 years, and in addition to his duties as Athletic Director and physical education coach, he also oversaw and led numerous sports teams.
