Packers Embarrassed by Falcons as Brutal Season Start Continues

0

GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers expected an early-season challenge with Josh Jacobs unavailable on offense and Micah Parsons still sidelined on defense.

What they did not anticipate was such a disastrous home opener.

A patchwork offensive line struggled to protect Jordan Love and open lanes for Jacobs’ replacements as Green Bay suffered a stunning 35-14 loss to the previously winless Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.

Packers fans at Lambeau Field booed the team throughout much of the second half. At 1-2, Green Bay now faces a possible crossroads before September is over.

The performance was far from what team president and CEO Ed Policy envisioned when he gave coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst contract extensions. Those deals came despite Green Bay finishing the 2025 season with five consecutive losses, including a wild-card defeat at Chicago in which the Packers squandered a 21-3 lead.

Green Bay had reached the playoffs in three straight seasons, but Thursday’s showing bore little resemblance to that of a postseason contender.

The absences of Parsons and Jacobs have clearly affected the Packers.

Parsons will miss at least one more game while recovering from the torn ACL that cut short his All-Pro 2025 season.

Jacobs was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list after pleading no contest two weeks ago to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges related to a May altercation with his then-girlfriend.

Green Bay’s injury problems along the offensive line have compounded those setbacks.

The Packers were without two starting linemen Thursday. Left guard Aaron Banks injured his toe, while right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele suffered a torn patellar tendon during Sunday’s 20-17 overtime win over the New York Jets. Bako-Bewele, regarded as Green Bay’s top lineman when healthy, will miss the rest of the season.

Discipline has also become a significant concern.

The Packers entered Thursday having committed an NFL-high 26 penalties over their first two games. They held a 7-0 lead when Brenton Cox Jr. was flagged for roughing the passer after a third-down incompletion. The penalty kept Atlanta’s drive alive, and the Falcons responded with a tying touchdown before taking control of the game.

Green Bay’s run defense had been one of its few bright spots through the opening two weeks. The Packers were allowing just 2.9 yards per carry, the second-best mark in the NFL.

That strength vanished Thursday night.

Atlanta dominated on the ground, outgaining Green Bay 242-17 while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Bijan Robinson powered the Falcons with 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

With Jacobs unavailable, Green Bay is counting on MarShawn Lloyd and Kaleb Johnson to carry the rushing load. Neither found much success Thursday: Lloyd had 11 yards on four carries, while Johnson gained 6 yards on four attempts.

The Packers’ running game stalled for most of the night. LaFleur must find a way to create momentum for his young backs if Green Bay is going to rescue its season.

‘Special Forces’ Instructor Compares Tom Sandoval to George Santos

Jovon “Q” Quarles, a member of the directing staff on Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, says former New York Rep. George Santos brought to mind reality TV personality Tom Sandoval.

The former NAVY SEAL discussed Santos’ time on the show’s fifth season during an exclusive interview with Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea. Santos previously served prison time after pleading guilty to federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

“He reminds me of Tom Sandoval, where, ‘Nothing I’ve done was wrong. Nothing I did was wrong,’ and then [they] point the finger at the other person and say that what [that person] did was wrong,” Quarles said.

“They don’t hold themselves accountable.”

Sandoval appeared on the show’s second season after his months-long affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss came to light in 2023. The scandal ended his nine-year relationship with Ariana Madix.

Quarles, who spent 15 years as a NAVY SEAL, has worked on Special Forces since its second season. Alongside three other former military operatives, he oversees the punishing challenges faced by a rotating cast of celebrities and athletes.

Quarles said he knew about Santos’ criminal record, including his embezzlement of campaign donations to fund personal expenses such as Botox treatments and spa visits. Santos also faced scrutiny for making false claims about his education, work history and heritage.

Santos received a sentence of more than seven years in prison, but spent only three months behind bars before President Donald Trump commuted his sentence and secured his release.

“There was no bit of me that was going to be light with him at all,” Quarles said. “I wanted to make sure he understood what we deal with, as men and women in the Special Forces, and what it’s like.”

Having been deployed overseas multiple times, Quarles said Santos’ record of “fraud” and “scandals” struck a personal nerve. He argued that elected officials are expected to tell the “truth” and stand behind the military personnel serving under them.

“We’re supposed to trust you?” asked Quarles, who said he would like to see more politicians take part in future seasons. “And then you send us out here to go to war to die for stuff that you are lying about for the most part.”

“I took it personally, so I really wanted to challenge him and really give him a taste of what it’s like to understand that, ‘Hey, you now don’t have any control.’”

Although Quarles made no effort to go easy on Santos, he admitted that the former congressman’s repeated attempts to climb from the lake onto the dock provided plenty of entertainment during the Season 5 premiere.

“Seeing Santos flop back in was like seeing a dead sea lion just kind of roll over and fall back [into] the water,” Quarles said with a laugh. “It was the funniest thing.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. New episodes are available to stream the following day on Hulu.

Reporter’s Notebook: Calls for a Free Iran Resonate at the United Nations

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian used his address to the United Nations General Assembly to cast Iran as a target of terrorism carried out by the United States and Israel.

Just beyond the chamber, however, thousands of demonstrators demanded that Pezeshkian be detained, accusing him of terrorism.

“They are terrorists. They must go!” protesters shouted repeatedly as they waved green, white and red flags associated with the resistance movement.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told the crowd that the Iranian president repeatedly lies and accused him of murder and terrorism.

Giuliani said negotiations with Iran’s leaders were futile, comparing any attempt to reach an agreement with them to negotiating with Adolf Hitler.

A number of former senior government officials echoed those accusations, condemning what they described as a radical Islamic government that has brutally repressed the Iranian people for decades. Estimates indicate that more than 20,000 people may have been killed after taking part in freedom protests across Iran earlier this year, while reports of political prisoners being executed continue to emerge weekly.

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, who served in both Trump administrations, called for an end to clerical rule in Iran. He said the country had a pathway toward becoming a secular, non-nuclear republic and rejoining the free world as an ally.

Former U.S. Ambassador Marc Ginsberg called on Congress to approve the Maximum Support Act. The proposed legislation would target Iran’s financial resources, seize government assets and expand internet access and online freedom so Iranians could organize and make their voices heard.

Ginsberg appealed to President Trump to provide funding, political backing and the tools he said Iran’s people need. Such assistance, he argued, would fulfill a previous promise, help move the United States toward an end to the conflict and strengthen support for what he called Iran’s “arsenal of democracy.”

Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said in a video message that Iranians have rejected every type of dictatorship, whether based on religion or monarchy.

Rajavi said the demands of Iran’s oppressed population were reaching the international community. She also denounced the continued presence of the country’s clerical leadership in Iran’s seat at the United Nations.

The demonstration unfolded across two days, with speakers delivering a steady message to diplomats gathered at the United Nations.

Alireza Jafarzadeh, deputy director of the NCRI’s Washington office, told Fox News that Iran’s government responds only to strong and decisive action. He described sanctions and sustained international pressure as the most effective external tools for confronting the regime.

Jafarzadeh argued that Iran’s ruling system is unable to reform itself, saying meaningful change would have happened long ago if the regime were capable of delivering it. He said the country’s future instead depends on its people, adding that negotiations, concessions and diplomatic talks would not alter the government’s conduct.

“The real Iran is represented by the people of Iran,” he said. “The real change has to come from within.”

AOC Signals Potential Run for Higher Office in Biggest Hint Yet

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is preparing to campaign for New York Governor Kathy Hochul outside deep-blue New York City, fueling further speculation about the congresswoman’s ambitions for higher office.

Ocasio-Cortez has said she will determine her next political step after the midterm elections. Some observers believe she could seek the Democratic presidential nomination, while others expect her to challenge Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in 2028.

Hochul has now asked Ocasio-Cortez to appear at campaign events in more conservative areas of upstate New York, where the governor is seeking reelection against Republican Bruce Blakeman. The appearances could offer an early test of Ocasio-Cortez’s statewide appeal.

Her team is expected to organize events in Buffalo, Syracuse and Ithaca—far beyond the single Queens event Ocasio-Cortez attended on Election Day in 2022.

“I think she brings a lot of energy to the process and engages young people in particular,” Hochul told WNYC earlier this week.

“I’ve encouraged this. I have asked her and others to go statewide to create the momentum and energy we need around this next election. So I think she’ll be very well-received.”

Hochul, once known as a moderate Democrat, has increasingly aligned herself with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Ocasio-Cortez in recent years.

While upstate New York tends to vote Republican – a recent poll shows Hochul trailing Blakeman there by three points – there are AOC-friendly areas within those three cities.

Both Buffalo and Syracuse have elected Democratic Socialists of America members to citywide and statewide office, while Ithaca is home to Cornell University.

Hochul has confirmed that she will campaign alongside Ocasio-Cortez at some events, although she has not yet identified which appearances she will attend.

Blakeman has welcomed the opportunity to portray Ocasio-Cortez as a political contrast with Hochul.

“The more she campaigns for Kathy Hochul, the greater chance of my election,” he said Tuesday, according to Gothamist.

After this year’s midterm election, Ocasio-Cortez will decide whether to pursue the presidency, run for the US Senate or remain in the House representing her Bronx and Queens district.

She has also identified two deeply personal considerations: her race and her gender.

“Every element of this is something that’s within consideration,” she told The New York Times.

The 36-year-old Latina lawmaker, who is unmarried, also told the Times that her age and plans to start a family would factor into her decision.

What qualities do you think truly make someone ready for the presidency today?

Ocasio-Cortez has recently publicly discussed freezing her eggs, a decision she announced in August, while filming injecting herself.

She split from her longtime fiancé, Riley Roberts, although she has declined to comment publicly on her relationship status.

‘I am 36, I’m about to turn 37 years old… and what that means for my life,’ she told the Times.

‘Pretty candidly, I think about my identity,’ Ocasio-Cortez noted.

‘I’m not naïve to the fact that we are living under a very regressive administration, and I happen to be a woman, and I, you know, happen to be Latina.’

Ocasio-Cortez said she often hesitates to talk about race and gender because people can treat such comments as an excuse for why a politician might lose.

But if she is seriously considering a presidential campaign, she said she can’t simply pretend those questions do not exist.

‘It’s funny because it’s kind of like, everyone else is allowed to talk about it, but I’m not?’

Her argument is rooted in the fact that the US has never elected a woman president. Hillary Clinton came closest, winning the popular vote in 2016 but losing the Electoral College to Donald Trump.

‘That doesn’t make it impossible,’ she said.

Ocasio-Cortez also pointed to how women in politics are covered. She cited a video of herself fixing her hair this summer in the Bronx that drew 25 million views on X and a flood of sexualized comments.

That, she said, is the ‘most brazen’ version of a bias she says she faces ‘from the right and from the left.’

Race factors in too. The daughter of a Puerto Rican immigrant, Ocasio-Cortez is one of the party’s most prominent Latina politicians and its most recognizable progressive voice — and she doesn’t dodge questions about whether that hurts her electability.

She’s also watching history: Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris are the only women to win the Democratic nomination, and both lost. ‘I absolutely empathize with the heartbreak people feel around that,’ she said, ‘and how those women were treated.’

She hasn’t ruled out challenging Schumer, and rejects the idea she owes anyone deference.

But a presidential bid is binary for her: ‘If I were to run in this cycle, and not win, I would be done.’

The numbers also show just how complicated Ocasio-Cortez’s national political picture could be.

The numbers underscore the challenge. In a recent New York Times/Siena poll, fewer than 1 percent of Republicans viewed her favorably, versus 75 percent unfavorably.

Among likely voters overall, just 30 percent viewed her favorably against 41 percent unfavorable — a double-digit deficit.

RealClearPolitics’ current national Democratic presidential primary polling average has Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at 11 percent, trailing only Kamala Harris (24 percent), Gavin Newsom (14 percent) and Pete Buttigieg (13 percent).

Vet Urges Pet Owners to Stop Giving Dogs ‘Basic’ Human Names

Dr Amir Anwary enjoys treating dogs of every shape and size, but there is one pet-owner habit that drives him particularly mad: giving dogs ordinary human names.

The popular South African veterinarian has urged dog owners to think twice before choosing a human name for their pets.

‘I’m a veterinarian, and this is serious… This is the biggest issue I’ve ever seen,’ he declared in a light-hearted rant.

‘I don’t know which dog owner needs to hear this, but you need to stop giving dogs human names that have no business being dog names.’

Dr Anwary explained that the situation can become particularly awkward when vets carry out invasive procedures on dogs with distinctly human names.

‘I just had to express the anal glands of Craig. Craig… Do you know what that does to a person?’ he joked.

He said that was not the only time, recalling that he had also expressed the anal glands of dogs called Sarah, Geoff and Jared.

‘Stop giving your dogs human names. It’s enough. You need to stop giving your pets the most basic human names,’ he warned.

The vet did concede that some names traditionally associated with people can work perfectly well for dogs.

‘Some names that belong to humans are good for dogs,’ he explained.

‘Oscar is a good name; Harvey is a good name; Archie is a great name. So there are certain human names that you can give to dogs.’

‘But other names have no business being dog names. For example, Craig, Jared and Jason. Why would you name a dog Jason? Is it a philanderer?’

‘Daniel, William… No, guys. Some human names simply do not belong to dogs.’

‘You know what I’m saying? Someone has to say it.’

Patricia was another human name that appeared to particularly irritate him.

‘Patricia has no business being a dog name,’ he said.

‘Shame, poor dog.’

His latest video has been viewed more than 300,000 times, and many viewers admitted that they had given their dogs human names.

‘Exclusively human names for dogs is my favourite thing ever. Have never disagreed with a take more in my life. It is endlessly amusing. If anyone has an aggressively human named dog please share it with me and bring me joy,’ one said.

‘My neighbour has a dachshund named Paul. It will never not be hilarious to me,’ another revealed.

‘My dog is Dave. David when he is naughty,’ one shared.

‘As an ER vet tech, please don’t stop this! I love telling Steven he needs to relax while I lube up my gloves,’ another added, laughing.

One owner realised her mistake after giving her dog a human name.

What does naming dogs after people say about our relationships with pets and each other?

‘I named my dog Kiara. I didn’t know it’s a human name. Imaging the confusion when I yelled: “Kiara! No!” and the neighbour’s (sad) daughter said, “Okay sorry” from the other side of the wall,’ she said.

Another jokingly suggested: ‘Use a human name that you’d name a child. Then you can use them as an excuse at work. “Sorry, I can’t stay late, I need to pick up Emily from daycare.” They think it’s your kid, but Emily’s a dachshund.’

Meanwhile, many revealed they felt ‘weirded out’ after hearing strangers call their name to a dog.

‘Took my dog to a vet once. The vet came into the waiting area and called “Maisie”. I got up to answer as that’s my name, quickly sat back down when a woman got up and took her terrier through… Never been so embarrassed,’ one said.

‘I heard someone constantly shouting “Vicky”, but she wasn’t acknowledging me. Then she shouted “Vicky, biscuit” and a black lab ran over,’ another shared.

‘My daughter is Maggie, named after her grandmother. Do you know how many dogs are named Maggie? Like all of them,’ one revealed.

To Catch a Predator True Story: What Primetime Changes

0

This article contains spoilers for “Primetime”

Lance Oppenheim’s “Primetime” is far from a traditional biographical drama. The director describes it in the film’s press materials as “more of a fever dream than a conventional biopic,” an assessment that fits its highly stylized and deeply unnerving approach. Rather than reconstructing the exact history of Chris Hansen’s “To Catch a Predator,” the movie examines the show’s cultural afterlife. Viewers who were too young to watch the NBC series—or whose memories of those mid-2000s hidden-camera investigations have faded—may be surprised by how much the film alters or outright fictionalizes.

That creative license does not necessarily make “Primetime” dishonest. The film compresses its timeline and combines real people into new characters to explore broader truths about “To Catch a Predator.” A24 describes it as a “media collage” and a “heightened, hallucinatory portrait of a man attempting to do good while turning justice into entertainment.” The movie also identifies Luke Dittrich’s 2007 Esquire article, “Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die,” as its primary source, and the two share numerous details.

In other words, “Primetime” contains both substantial fact and deliberate invention. Here’s where the film follows reality—and where it departs from it.

Primetime invents a major new character for dramatic effect

One of the movie’s most significant inventions is Andie Bender (Merritt Wever), portrayed as the lead producer of “To Catch a Predator.” The real program had numerous producers and assistant producers, but the two people whose work most closely resembles Andie’s apparent position are executive producer David Corvo, a longtime “Dateline NBC” producer, and field producer Donna Griffo-Johnson. In the film, Andie functions as an amalgamation of those roles and ideas, brought to life through Wever’s remarkable performance.

Still, the tense exchanges between Hansen and Bender are not difficult to imagine taking place behind the scenes. At its core, “Primetime” focuses on the conflict between “To Catch a Predator’s” claim to deliver justice and its status as a ratings-driven television spectacle. “There used to be a pillory in every civilized town, and now there’s a television in every home,” Robert Pattinson’s Hansen observes, summing up that contradiction. Oppenheim says in the press notes that he was “very interested in the human drama so many producers behind hit shows experience.”

Andie’s fictionalized position—as a pragmatic, seemingly ruthless counterpoint to Hansen’s disturbing enthusiasm—anchors much of the film. Through her, “Primetime” explores television’s rapidly changing business and the wider cultural consequences of the show’s popularity. But was Andie Bender a real person? Not in the form presented onscreen.

Skyler Gisondo’s Dan Plumb is based on a real person

Dan Plumb (Skyler Gisondo), by contrast, is based on Dan Schrack, a real “To Catch a Predator” decoy. Schrack, who went on to become a news anchor and comedian, is credited on seven episodes, including the Fort Myers, Florida, and Murphy, Texas, installments featured in the film. He was also the actual decoy involved in the operation targeting Rockwall County Assistant District Attorney Bill Conradt, whose suicide serves as the movie’s climax.

Dittrich’s 2007 Esquire article discusses Schrack repeatedly and supplies several details that appear in Gisondo’s performance. Among them are the particular intonations Schrack used during decoy phone calls, his $5,000 payment per shoot, and the fact that his most prominent previous role had been in a Toys “R” Us commercial. In recent years, Schrack has acknowledged that his role in the events surrounding Conradt’s death continues to trouble him. “You could offer me $10 million to film that episode in Texas again,” he told Entertainment Weekly in 2025. “I wouldn’t take it. I would not take it and be happy about that decision.”

Schrack is neither credited in “Primetime” nor named in its press materials, which helps explain why the film’s “Decoy Dan” has a different surname. As with Andie, the character expands beyond his real-life counterpart to serve the movie’s themes. Phoebe Bridgers’ character Del also appears to draw inspiration from another real actor and decoy, Del Harvey.

Primetime squeezes the timeline for dramatic effect

The movie also condenses events that unfolded over a much longer period. “To Catch a Predator” aired only 20 episodes in its original form between 2004 and 2007. The Fort Myers episodes reached NBC viewers in May 2006, while the Murphy, Texas, episodes aired nearly a year later, in February 2007. Conradt died in November 2006—six months after the Florida episodes aired. “Primetime” places these events much closer together for dramatic momentum, but there is no apparent factual basis for the film’s suggestion that Hansen disrupted the show’s normal production schedule to hurry to Texas.

The film also moves Hansen’s infidelity scandal forward in the chronology. The real National Enquirer report emerged in 2011, several years after “To Catch a Predator” had ended. In “Primetime,” Hansen appears remorseful and attempts to stop the affair; the tabloid’s report, however, said the relationship was still continuing when it became public.

What really happened to Bill Conradt on To Catch a Predator?

Although “Primetime” freely reshapes many details, its account of Bill Conradt’s suicide largely follows the known events, with some notable differences. The Esquire article reports that the confrontation at Conradt’s home began in the afternoon, rather than during the night as shown onscreen. SWAT was called only after a smaller contingent of officers and the NBC crew failed to receive a response at the front door. The essential sequence remains intact: when Conradt failed to appear at the sting location, investigators and the show’s team rushed to his home after noticing that he was deleting his online presence. The aftermath also raised serious questions about police procedure and the extent of the “Predator” team’s influence.

The outcome was the same. Conradt’s suicide intensified the controversy surrounding a program whose ethics were already under scrutiny. His sister later sued the network for $105 million, with the case ultimately settling out of court.

“Primetime” invents other elements of the Texas operation as well. Bokeem Woodbine’s police chief Cortland Gunn replaces the real Murphy County police chief, Billy Myrick. And although Dan Schrack did participate in the Conradt sting, he was not singing “Rent” over the phone as SWAT entered the house.

How accurate is Robert Pattinson’s Chris Hansen?

Robert Pattinson’s performance has drawn considerable critical attention, but his Hansen is arguably less an impression than an original interpretation. The real Hansen said he was considering legal action during an appearance on The Dan Abrams Show, describing the film as “very exploitive,” “sneaky,” and “disingenuous.” “Primetime” intentionally blurs fact and invention, yet that strategy inevitably makes the real story harder to separate from the movie’s version.

Screenwriter Ajon Singh openly addresses the film’s fictionalized Hansen in A24’s press materials: “We’re playing with the depiction of Chris Hansen in modern culture and media — how he’s become a meme — which is something Robert plays with in his dramatization and characterization of Hansen in his prime.” Pattinson’s producing partner Brighton McCloskey makes a similar point, saying that “‘Primetime’ is derived from the meme trail and the mythology of Chris Hansen and the 20-year cultural legacy of the show.”

That uneasy collision of myth, entertainment, and painful reality defines “Primetime.” The film is not interested in presenting a gentle or straightforward account, instead turning its attention toward the audience and the machinery that transforms justice into spectacle. Whether viewers believe it successfully balances fiction with the cultural force of the real show will likely depend on how comfortable they are with its deliberately unstable version of the truth.

Why Ed Sheeran Concerts at Robert Kraft’s Stadium Could Be Canceled

0

Ed Sheeran’s scheduled Friday and Saturday performances at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, could be disrupted by severe weather, adding another complication after the controversy surrounding former opening act Macklemore and venue owner Robert Kraft.

Production sources told TMZ on Thursday that a storm moving through the Northeast had interrupted construction of Sheeran’s stage. The concerts had already drawn attention after Macklemore was removed from the lineup over his political views.

Although part of the stage had been assembled earlier Thursday, crew members were reportedly told to pause further construction, according to a source who spoke with the outlet.

Executives were said to be considering dismantling the structure before the shows. Forecast rain and strong winds could make the outdoor performances unsafe while also posing a risk to stage equipment.

A separate venue source said the stage was otherwise prepared for Friday’s concert, with lighting the only major element still being completed. Workers were testing the lights Thursday evening.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Sheeran for additional comment.

Ed Sheeran, pictured in Los Angeles earlier this year, could be forced to cancel his Friday and Saturday shows in Foxborough, Massachusetts, because of the weather, following the controversy involving Macklemore and venue owner Robert Kraft

No official decision had been announced on whether the concerts would go ahead. It was also unclear whether the performances would be postponed or canceled if the poor weather continued, the outlet reported.

Macklemore has claimed that Sheeran dropped him from the tour after Kraft objected to his pro-Palestinian statements amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East.

Several of Sheeran’s other opening acts and touring musicians subsequently withdrew from dates in support of Macklemore.

Those who stepped away included the group Beoga, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Finneas, the brother of Billie Eilish.

Sheeran addressed the controversy during his concert last Saturday at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, saying his public comments were not usually intended to be political.

‘I don’t want to disappoint fans, and I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this has put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet,’ Sheeran said.

Macklemore announced Thursday that he would launch a series of Free Palestine tour dates next month, with proceeds set to support organizations providing aid connected to Palestinian causes.

‘If these last couple of weeks have shown us anything, it’s that something has shifted over the last three years,’ Macklemore said on Instagram. ‘There has been a collective awakening around Palestinian liberation, the power of billionaires that try to censor that call, and what we expect from artists right now.’

He continued, ‘When the billionaire class can decide which voices are allowed on stage and which ones are too dangerous to hear, everyone should be paying attention.’

Ticket buyers had already begun seeking refunds after Sheeran removed Macklemore from the opening lineup for his North and South American tour dates.

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell announced in a news release on Thursday that Ticketmaster had said it will honor hundreds of refund requests for the Gillette Stadium shows amid the controversy.

‘After hearing from nearly 200 consumers who were struggling to obtain refunds from Ticketmaster for Ed Sheeran’s shows at Gillette Stadium this weekend,’ Campbell said, ‘my office jumped into action to demand that consumers be provided a clear path to get their money back if they no longer want to attend due to significant changes to the lineup.

‘I encourage anyone who wants a refund to act quickly and submit their request at least 24 hours before showtime.’

Rams Coach Sean McVay Explains Maximus Pulley’s Special Teams Role

0

The Rams made an unexpected roster move Wednesday ahead of their Week 4 matchup with the Eagles, promoting safety Maximus Pulley from the practice squad to the active roster.

Head coach Sean McVay later explained why Los Angeles felt the move was necessary.

The immediate need centered on special teams. The Rams must replace veteran running back Ronnie Rivers, a reliable contributor in that phase of the game, after he suffered an injury.

“It was just a freak deal where he was jumping up, and I think he got it when he was just jumping up to loosen himself up. It’s a four- to six-week injury. I’m bummed out for Ronnie,” McVay said. “We’re just a little bit lighter on the back end, so we figured, let’s bring him [Pulley] in.”

More From Thomas L. Murray

McVay said Pulley’s college film also helped convince the Rams that he was worth bringing up from the practice squad.

Pulley played at Wofford College last season, where he turned in an impressive campaign at safety. He finished with 80 tackles, five interceptions and a forced fumble.

“We’ll welcome him with open arms and go from there,” McVay said.

For now, Pulley’s role appears likely to focus on special teams, though his opportunities could grow. Starting safety Kamren Kinchens missed Thursday’s practice because of a hamstring injury.

Pulley is currently listed as Los Angeles’ third safety, behind Tanner Ingle and Jaylen McCollough.

Still, a strong showing Sunday night against the Broncos could give Pulley a chance to make a lasting impression on the Rams’ coaching staff and teammates.

The Traitors: New Blood Eliminates Three More Players in Dramatic Two-Episode Twist

0

Another week has brought three more departures from The Traitors: New Blood.

Following the murders and banishments of Kim Daily and Madeline Kostopulos in the first two episodes, NBC’s Traitors spinoff opened Episode 3 with the show’s latest recruitment hanging in the balance. This season’s Traitors, Joe Vanella and Tomica Adams, had ordered Xavier Scruggs and Katie Fites to find death warrants in a bid to enter the game’s secretive inner circle—but Episode 2 ended before viewers learned whether either player had succeeded.

Host Alan Cumming explained that any player who failed to secure a warrant would be eliminated. If both Xavier and Katie completed the challenge by taking a warrant from a public location in full view, Joe and Tomica would have to choose which contestant to recruit. So, who completed the mission, who became the next murder victim and which other players were banished? With two new episodes now available, here is the full rundown.

Read on for a complete breakdown of the players eliminated by murder and banishment in the latest installments of The Traitors: New Blood.

Who Was Murdered In The Traitors: New Blood Episode 3?

Xavier Scruggs was the first casualty of The Traitors: New Blood Episode 3. After the previous episode ended with Xavier and Katie summoned to meet Joe and Tomica, both contestants arrived with a death warrant. Because they had each completed the task, the Traitors were forced to decide whom to bring into their alliance—and whom to eliminate. They selected Katie, believing she would attract less suspicion, and ordered Xavier’s murder.

Who Was Banished In The Traitors: New Blood Episode 3?

Episode 3 ended before the Roundtable concluded, carrying viewers straight into the banishment that opened Episode 4.

The Faithfuls and Traitors ultimately voted out Arisa Thomas, a Los Angeles dog groomer. Suspicion had fallen on her after she took part in a “shady” handholding ritual with Victor Vollbrechthausen several days earlier.

Logan Smith became the next murder victim at the beginning of Episode 4 after naming Katie during the Roundtable, based on information he had received from Xavier. The decision may prove risky for Katie, since her name is now prominent heading into the vote expected to begin Episode 5 next week. The question is whether she can deflect suspicion—or whether the Faithfuls will finally identify and remove a Traitor.

A doctor at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh was fatally stabbed and his wife was critically wounded after a man allegedly broke into their Pennsylvania home and attacked them as they slept early Thursday, police said.

Dr. Idris Evans, 46, died in the attack at his home in Edgewood, according to the Allegheny County Police Department.

His wife was in critical but stable condition Thursday, police told News Media.

Allegheny County 9-1-1 received a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of Linden Avenue at 12:31 a.m. Responding officers and medical personnel found Evans and his wife with multiple stab wounds, police said.

Evans was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His wife was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police identified the suspect as 32-year-old Elijah Hemingway of Pittsburgh.

Based on witness interviews, detectives determined that Hemingway allegedly entered the home and attacked Evans and his wife while they were in bed, police said.

Evans’ wife told investigators that the couple awoke to a man attacking them with a kitchen knife, according to court documents obtained by KDKA reported. She said the attacker was wearing only underwear and made statements about “being God,” the outlet reported.

During the assault, Evans’ wife shouted for the couple’s children, ages 8 and 12, to leave the house and go to a neighbor’s home, according to KDKA.

She also told investigators that Evans called the attacker “Elijah,” suggesting that he may have known him, according to the outlet.

“We do not know if there was any pre-existing relationship,” Allegheny County Assistant Superintendent Victor Joseph said, according to KDKA. “The woman did not know this male. We are trying to determine if the two males knew each other.”

A K-9 team from the Monroeville Police Department searching the neighborhood found Hemingway behind a nearby home with cuts on his hand, county police said. He remained hospitalized Thursday while awaiting transfer to the Allegheny County Jail, police told News Media.

Hemingway faces charges that include criminal homicide, aggravated assault, burglary and criminal trespass, police said. No changes to the charges had been announced Thursday, police told News Media.

Investigators have not disclosed a motive. Police told News Media that they were still examining both a possible motive and whether Hemingway and Evans knew each other.

Evans served as medical director of the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and was an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, according to his university profile.

“The UPMC and University of Pittsburgh community is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Dr. Idris Evans, a pediatric critical care physician at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh,” a UPMC spokesperson told News Media in a statement.

“Dr. Evans was a dedicated caregiver and valued member of our hospital and university communities. Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones, and colleagues during this difficult time. We ask that their privacy be respected.”
