Coast Guard Detains Eight Migrants Off Point Loma in San Diego

0

Another boat carrying suspected illegal migrants has been intercepted off Southern California, just days after nearly a dozen people reached affluent Newport Beach before disappearing into the surrounding neighborhood.

The latest incident occurred Tuesday night, when the Coast Guard stopped a 21-foot vessel about six miles off Point Loma. Eight adults were found aboard.

Watchstanders at the Joint Harbor Operations Center detected the suspicious boat at 8:02 p.m. and dispatched a boarding team from the Coast Guard Maritime Safety and Security Team Los Angeles/Long Beach.

The crew approached the vessel, gained compliance and detained all eight occupants. The Coast Guard identified them as suspected aliens.

The individuals were taken to Ballast Point and turned over to U.S. Border Patrol agents for further investigation.

The interception came only days after authorities struggled to locate another group that reached Newport Harbor on Saturday before disappearing among the area’s multimillion-dollar homes.

Nearly a dozen suspected illegal migrants reportedly jumped from a 20-foot boat after it sped into the harbor and struck a nearby yacht, causing damage. The vessel was then abandoned.

Grainy surveillance footage showed the group leaving the boat near the Balboa Island Ferry before scattering on foot.

“Literally no regard for safety, just barreled in and everyone bailed out and just skirmished into the community,” Newport Beach City Council member Erik Weigand previously said.

Investigators are searching for additional footage from public and private security cameras that may help identify the group. Facial recognition technology could potentially be used as part of that effort.

Authorities have not determined whether anyone was waiting for the group onshore or whether vehicles helped them leave the area.

The two incidents are among a growing number of migrant-boat encounters reported in Southern California waters.

In an earlier landing near Newport Harbor, more than 20 suspected migrants reportedly jumped from a panga boat and climbed into waiting vans. Separately, the Coast Guard intercepted boats carrying groups of 21 and 24 people.

In another case, 37 suspected migrants were rescued nearly 100 miles offshore after their vessel was reportedly left drifting for two days without food, water or fuel.

Erectile Dysfunction: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment, And Things To Avoid

0

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the ongoing inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual activity. Occasional difficulty is common, but persistent problems deserve medical attention because ED can be linked to conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart and blood vessel disease, medication side effects, hormonal changes, or anxiety and depression.

The good news is that erectile dysfunction is often treatable. The right approach depends on the cause, the person’s general health, the medicines they take, and their preferences. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, counseling, prescription medication, devices, injections, or surgery.

What are the symptoms of erectile dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction

ED is more than one unsuccessful sexual experience. Common symptoms include:

  • Difficulty getting an erection when sexually aroused
  • Difficulty keeping an erection long enough for sex
  • Erections that are not firm enough for penetration or other desired sexual activity
  • Getting an erection sometimes, but not consistently
  • Reduced interest in sex, particularly when ED causes stress or loss of confidence

Changes in erections can happen with age, illness, stress, alcohol use, or fatigue. A recurring pattern, especially when it is worsening or affecting a relationship, is a reason to speak with a healthcare professional.

What causes erectile dysfunction?

An erection depends on coordinated signals from the brain, hormones, nerves, muscles and blood vessels. A problem in any of these systems can contribute to ED. In many cases, more than one factor is involved.

Physical causes

Conditions that affect blood flow, nerve function or hormone levels are common causes. These include:

  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure or high cholesterol
  • Heart and blood vessel disease
  • Obesity and metabolic syndrome
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Low testosterone or thyroid disorders
  • Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or spinal cord injuries
  • Prostate treatment, pelvic surgery or other injuries
  • Peyronie’s disease, which can cause a painful bend or lump in the penis
  • Sleep disorders and poor sleep

ED can sometimes appear before other symptoms of cardiovascular disease. That does not mean every case signals a heart problem, but unexplained or persistent ED should not be dismissed as an inevitable part of aging.

Medications and substances

Some prescription and over-the-counter medicines can affect erections. Possible contributors include certain antidepressants, blood pressure medicines, diuretics, antihistamines, sedatives, opioid pain medicines and treatments that affect hormones.

Smoking, heavy alcohol use and recreational drugs can also interfere with blood flow, sexual arousal or nerve signals. Do not stop a prescribed medicine without speaking with the clinician who prescribed it. A different dose or alternative treatment may be possible.

Stress and mental health

Anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, low self-esteem and work or financial stress can cause or worsen ED. A physical problem can also create performance anxiety, producing a cycle in which concern about losing an erection makes it harder to maintain one.

Psychological factors do not make ED imaginary. They are real contributors that may need treatment alongside any physical cause.

How is erectile dysfunction diagnosed?

Diagnosis usually begins with a conversation about symptoms, medical history, sexual function, mental health, lifestyle and current medications. A physical examination may help identify circulation problems, hormonal signs or conditions affecting the penis.

Depending on the situation, a clinician may order blood or urine tests to look for diabetes, cardiovascular risk factors, low testosterone or other health problems. Some people may need additional testing or referral to a urologist or endocrinologist.

Before an appointment, it can help to write down:

  • When the erection problems began
  • Whether they occur every time or only in certain situations
  • Any changes in sexual desire, ejaculation or orgasm
  • All prescription drugs, supplements and recreational substances
  • Recent stress, illness, surgery or relationship changes

What treatments are available for erectile dysfunction?

Treatment is usually directed at both the underlying cause and the erection problem itself.

Lifestyle changes

Regular physical activity, weight management, nutritious eating, better sleep, smoking cessation and reduced alcohol use can support sexual and cardiovascular health. Managing diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol is also important.

Lifestyle changes may not solve every case, but they can improve overall health and make other treatments safer or more effective.

Prescription tablets

Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, commonly called PDE5 inhibitors, increase blood flow to the penis in response to sexual stimulation. They do not automatically create an erection and do not increase sexual desire.

These medicines include sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil. They differ in timing, duration and side effects. Headache, flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion, backache and visual changes are possible.

They are not safe for everyone. In particular, PDE5 inhibitors must not be combined with nitrate medicines used for chest pain because the combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. People with certain heart conditions, very low blood pressure or other health risks need individual medical advice before using them.

Other medical treatments

If tablets are unsuitable or ineffective, a clinician may discuss injectable medicines, urethral suppositories or a vacuum erection device. A vacuum device draws blood into the penis and uses a ring to help maintain the erection.

Penile implants are a surgical option for some people whose ED has not improved with other treatments. Surgery carries risks, including infection, and is generally considered after less invasive approaches have been assessed.

Counseling and sex therapy

Counseling may help when anxiety, depression, trauma, performance concerns or relationship difficulties are contributing to ED. Involving a partner, when comfortable, can reduce misunderstandings and help both people adjust to treatment.

What should you avoid if you have ED?

Several common responses can make the problem worse or create new health risks.

  • Do not buy unregulated “herbal Viagra” products. Some supplements marketed for sexual performance have contained undisclosed prescription ingredients or unsafe doses.
  • Do not order ED medicine from an unverified website. Counterfeit or incorrectly dosed products can be dangerous.
  • Do not combine ED tablets with nitrate medicines. Ask a healthcare professional or pharmacist about every medicine and supplement you use.
  • Do not stop other prescription medicines on your own. A clinician can determine whether a medicine is contributing to ED and whether it can be changed safely.
  • Do not rely on excessive alcohol or recreational drugs. These may impair arousal, circulation and judgment.
  • Do not ignore persistent symptoms. ED may be a treatable sign of another health condition.
  • Do not use a constriction ring longer than directed. Follow the device instructions and seek advice if there is pain, numbness or skin discoloration.

When is erectile dysfunction an emergency?

Seek immediate medical care for an erection that lasts more than four hours, especially if it is painful. This condition, called priapism, can permanently damage erectile tissue if it is not treated promptly.

Urgent medical advice is also appropriate after taking an ED medicine if there is sudden vision or hearing loss, severe chest pain, fainting or a serious allergic reaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is erectile dysfunction a normal part of aging?Risk can increase with age, but ED is not something a person must simply accept. It may be related to a treatable health condition, medication, lifestyle factor or emotional concern.
  2. Can erectile dysfunction be cured? Some cases improve when the underlying cause is treated, such as uncontrolled diabetes, medication side effects or anxiety. Other cases require ongoing treatment to improve sexual function.
  3. Can stress cause erectile dysfunction?Yes. Stress and performance anxiety can interfere with arousal and make it difficult to maintain an erection. Physical and psychological causes often occur together.
  4. Does ED mean I have low testosterone? Not necessarily. Low testosterone can contribute to ED, but blood flow, nerve function, medications, mental health and other conditions are also common causes. Testing is needed before considering testosterone treatment.
  5. Are erectile dysfunction pills safe? They are safe for many people when prescribed appropriately, but they can interact with nitrates and may be unsuitable with some heart conditions or very low blood pressure. Medical guidance is important.
  6. Can lifestyle changes improve ED?Quitting smoking, exercising, reducing alcohol, managing weight and controlling conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes may improve erections and general health.
  7. Should I see a doctor for occasional erection problems? One isolated episode is usually not a cause for alarm. Make an appointment if the problem is recurring, worsening, distressing or accompanied by other symptoms.
  8. What kind of doctor treats erectile dysfunction?A primary care clinician can begin the evaluation. Depending on the findings, you may be referred to a urologist, endocrinologist or mental health professional.

Erectile dysfunction is common, medically significant and often manageable. Persistent difficulty getting or keeping an erection should prompt a confidential conversation with a healthcare professional, particularly when it appears alongside diabetes, high blood pressure, heart symptoms, medication changes or emotional distress. Avoid unverified treatments, do not combine ED medicines with nitrates, and seek urgent care for an erection lasting more than four hours.

Is Fruit Juice As Calorific As fizzy Drink? Which Fruits Are Healthiest?

0

Fruit juice can be as calorific as a regular fizzy drink, especially when served in a large glass. Although 100% juice contains vitamins and minerals that most sodas lack, it can still provide a substantial amount of sugar and energy with little fibre.

The healthier choice is usually whole fruit rather than juice. Apples, berries, oranges, kiwi, pears and melon all provide nutrients and water, while their fibre helps slow eating and makes them more filling. Juice can fit into a balanced diet, but portion size and the type of drink matter.

Is fruit juice as calorific as fizzy drink?

244,700+ Fruit Juice Stock Photos and Royalty-Free Pictures ...

Often, yes. A standard serving of regular soda and a similar serving of fruit juice may contain broadly comparable calories, although the exact amount depends on the brand, recipe and serving size.

Regular fizzy drinks are usually sweetened with added sugar or high-fructose corn syrup. A 100% fruit juice has naturally occurring sugars rather than added sugar, but the body still receives those sugars in liquid form. Calories can therefore add up quickly when juice is consumed frequently or in large portions.

Some fruit drinks, juice cocktails and fruit-flavoured beverages are less healthy than 100% juice because they may contain added sugar and only a small amount of actual fruit juice. Their nutrition labels can be closer to those of regular soft drinks than to whole fruit.

There is an important difference between regular and sugar-free fizzy drinks. Diet or zero-sugar sodas generally contain few or no calories, while fruit juice still contains natural sugar and calories. That does not automatically make diet soda a nutritious drink, but it does change the calorie comparison.

Why does juice feel healthier than soda?

Fruit juice has a stronger nutritional profile than most fizzy drinks. Depending on the fruit, it may provide vitamin C, potassium, folate and plant compounds. However, juicing removes much of the fibre found in the original fruit.

That missing fibre matters. Eating an orange takes time and provides pulp and fibre. Drinking the juice of several oranges is much easier, so a person can consume more sugar and calories before feeling satisfied.

Fruit juice is therefore best viewed as a concentrated fruit product, not an unlimited substitute for whole fruit.

How much sugar is in fruit juice?

The amount varies by fruit and product, but even unsweetened juice can be high in sugar. The sugar is naturally present in the fruit, yet it is released from the fruit’s structure during juicing and is consumed quickly.

Products labelled “100% juice” do not contain added sugar by definition, but that does not mean they are low in calories. “Fruit drink”, “fruit punch”, “juice drink” and “nectar” can contain added sweeteners, water and flavourings, so the label should be checked carefully.

Look for:

  • 100% fruit juice if you choose juice.
  • No added sugar, while remembering that natural sugar still contributes calories.
  • Serving size, because bottles often contain more than one portion.
  • Fibre, although most clear juices contain little or none.
  • Total sugars and calories per 100ml and per serving.

A smoothie may retain more fibre than clear juice if the whole fruit is blended, but it can still be calorie-dense when several fruits, fruit juice, honey, syrups or large amounts of yoghurt are added.

Is whole fruit healthier than fruit juice?

For most people, whole fruit is the better everyday choice. Fibre helps create fullness, supports normal digestion and slows the release of sugar into the bloodstream. Whole fruit also takes longer to eat, which can make it easier to recognise when enough has been consumed.

Whole fruit has another practical advantage: it usually contains fewer calories per typical eating occasion than a large glass of juice made from several pieces of fruit. An apple or orange is a snack; juice can become an extra drink consumed alongside a meal.

This does not make fruit juice “bad”. A small glass of 100% juice can provide useful nutrients, particularly for someone who struggles to eat fruit. The main concern is treating juice as a thirst-quenching drink throughout the day.

Many health services recommend limiting unsweetened fruit juice and smoothies to around 150ml a day and having them with a meal. This approach limits exposure to sugar and may also reduce the risk of tooth decay.

Which fruits are healthiest?

12,262,000+ Fruit Stock Photos and Royalty-Free Pictures ...

There is no single healthiest fruit. Different fruits provide different combinations of fibre, vitamins, minerals and protective plant compounds. The most useful strategy is variety, with whole fruit chosen in forms that do not come with added sugar.

Berries

Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries are nutrient-dense choices. They provide fibre and plant compounds while generally being relatively low in calories compared with many sweet snacks. Fresh or frozen berries are both practical options; choose versions without added sugar or syrup.

Citrus fruits

Oranges, grapefruit, lemons and satsumas are well known for vitamin C. Whole citrus fruit also provides fibre and water. Eating an orange is generally more filling than drinking orange juice because the pulp remains part of the food.

Apples and pears

Apples and pears are portable, filling and naturally rich in fibre, particularly when the skin is eaten. They work well as snacks because they require no preparation beyond washing and can be paired with foods such as plain yoghurt or unsalted nuts.

Kiwi fruit

Kiwi provides vitamin C and fibre in a relatively small portion. It can be eaten on its own, added to yoghurt or combined with other fruit. The edible skin contains fibre, although some people prefer to remove it for texture.

Melons

Watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew have high water content, making them refreshing and relatively light choices. They are useful when someone wants something sweet without choosing a concentrated product such as dried fruit or juice.

Bananas

Bananas provide potassium, carbohydrate and fibre. They are more calorie-dense than some watery fruits, but they remain a nutritious whole-food choice. Their sweetness can also replace added sugar in porridge, yoghurt or baking.

Avocados

Avocados are botanically fruits and provide fibre and mostly unsaturated fat. They are substantially more calorific than berries or melon, but calories are not the only measure of nutritional value. Portion size matters, particularly when avocado is added to an already energy-dense meal.

Which fruits are lower in calories?

If calorie control is the main concern, fruits with high water content are often easier to include in larger portions. Examples include:

  • Strawberries and other berries
  • Watermelon
  • Cantaloupe and honeydew melon
  • Peaches and nectarines
  • Oranges and grapefruit
  • Plums
  • Apples

Bananas, grapes, mangoes and dried fruit are not unhealthy, but they can provide more calories or sugar in a smaller volume. Dried fruit is particularly concentrated because most of the water has been removed. It is better eaten in modest portions, preferably with a meal.

How to make fruit juice a healthier choice

If you enjoy juice, a few simple changes can reduce its impact without requiring complete avoidance.

  1. Choose a small serving. Measure roughly 150ml rather than filling a large tumbler.
  2. Drink it with food. This is preferable to sipping juice throughout the day.
  3. Choose 100% juice. Avoid assuming that every product containing the word “fruit” is pure juice.
  4. Dilute it with water. Still or sparkling water can make a small amount go further.
  5. Prefer whole fruit most of the time. Keep apples, oranges, berries or pears available for snacks.
  6. Use water for thirst. Sparkling water with lemon, lime or mint can replace a fizzy drink without adding sugar.

People with diabetes, dental problems or specific dietary requirements may need more individual advice about juice and smoothies. A registered dietitian or healthcare professional can help tailor portions to the person’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is orange juice healthier than fizzy drink?

100% orange juice usually provides more vitamins and minerals than regular soda, but it can still contain a similar amount of sugar and calories in a large serving. Whole oranges are a more filling option.

  2. Does fruit juice count as one of your five a day?

In UK guidance, a 150ml serving of unsweetened fruit juice or a smoothie counts as one portion, regardless of how much more is consumed. Juice should not replace most of the whole fruit in the diet.

  3. Is apple juice high in calories?

Apple juice contains natural sugar and can be high in calories when served in a large glass. Eating a whole apple provides fibre and is usually more satisfying.

  4. Are smoothies healthier than juice?

A smoothie made from whole fruit may retain more fibre than clear juice. However, large smoothies containing several fruits, juice, honey or syrups can still be high in calories and sugar.

  5. What is the healthiest fruit for weight loss?

No single fruit causes weight loss. Berries, apples, citrus fruits and melon are often useful choices because they provide water and fibre, but overall portions and the wider diet matter more than one food.

  6. Is a banana too high in sugar?

Bananas contain natural sugar along with fibre, potassium and carbohydrate. They can be part of a healthy diet, especially when eaten whole rather than blended into a large sweet drink.

  7. Can children drink fruit juice?

Children should not routinely drink sugary beverages. If juice is offered, portion size should be small and it should not replace water or whole fruit. Guidance for infants and young children can differ by age.

  8. Which is better: fruit juice or a diet fizzy drink?

They offer different advantages and disadvantages. Fruit juice provides some nutrients but contains calories and sugar; diet fizzy drinks are usually low in calories but provide little nutritional value. Water and whole fruit are stronger everyday choices.

Fruit juice is not automatically healthier simply because it comes from fruit. In a large serving, it can be as calorific as a regular fizzy drink, while fruit drinks with added sugar may be even less favourable. For everyday eating, whole fruits—especially berries, citrus, apples, pears, kiwi and melon—provide a better balance of sweetness, nutrients, water and fibre.

Woman Says She “Didn’t Hit Anyone” After 125-Mph Police Chase

A Minnesota woman allegedly led Wisconsin State Patrol troopers on a high-speed pursuit that left one trooper seriously injured.

Martell Tolbert Mitchell, 47, faces charges of fleeing or eluding an officer and recklessly endangering safety following Monday’s chase. According to a criminal complaint obtained by local ABC affiliate WQOW, Illinois State Police alerted Wisconsin authorities that a driver—later identified as Tolbert Mitchell—had allegedly fled a traffic stop. Troopers later spotted her vehicle in Eau Claire County and attempted to pull her over again.

Instead of stopping, Tolbert Mitchell allegedly accelerated to more than 100 mph, with the pursuit eventually reaching speeds of about 125 mph.

Tolbert Mitchell has not been charged in connection with Trooper Brad Ritger’s injuries. Along with the fleeing and reckless-endangerment charges, she is accused of possessing cocaine with intent to distribute and possessing THC with intent to distribute. Her name did not appear on the Dunn County Jail inmate roster posted Thursday.

Tolbert Mitchell’s next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 28.

Angel Mom Says Blue-State DAs Put Illegal Immigrant Criminals Ahead of Public Safety

A Virginia mother whose daughter was fatally stabbed at a bus stop is working to remove the county’s top prosecutor after learning the accused killer had been arrested more than 30 times before the attack.

“Stephanie should be alive today,” Cheryl Minter wrote in a petition seeking the removal of Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano. “I had to do what no parent should ever have to. I had to bury my daughter.”

Stephanie Minter, 41, was discovered with multiple stab wounds inside a bus shelter in Hybla Valley on Feb. 23, according to Fairfax County police. Abdul Jalloh, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder. He has not been convicted in connection with her death.

“She was an amazingly strong woman, amazingly strong, and happy and brought brightness and joy to so many people,” Cheryl Minter told News Media.

The Department of Homeland Security says Jalloh, a Sierra Leone national who entered the United States illegally in 2012, had been arrested more than 30 times. His prior charges included rape, malicious wounding, assault and theft, DHS said.

“I was shocked. I mean, literally in shock,” Cheryl Minter said when asked about his criminal record. “And then this man who’s killed her, just is let off like it’s nothing. Like it’s nothing.”

In her petition, Cheryl Minter attributed what she described as a preventable death to decisions made by Descano.

“Thirty times the system had a chance to stop him. Thirty times,” she wrote. “I think about that every single day.”

Cheryl questioned why Jalloh was released after an arrest she remembered occurring during the winter before Stephanie was killed. The details of that case, including who authorized the release, have not been independently confirmed.

“When you let these people back out on the streets, they’re not gonna stop. Why would they stop?” she said.

Cheryl Minter also criticized Descano’s 2020 plea-bargaining policy, which advised prosecutors to “consider immigration consequences where possible” and assess how charges might affect a defendant’s immigration status, WTOP reported. The outlet said in May that the webpage outlining the policy was no longer available on Descano’s office website. Minter contends that prosecutors should prioritize public safety.

The policy is now facing federal scrutiny. The Justice Department announced in May that it was investigating whether Descano’s office provided preferential treatment in charging decisions and plea agreements to defendants who are in the country illegally rather than U.S. citizens. The department said it had reached no conclusions. The investigation does not establish how Jalloh’s previous cases were handled.

Descano defended the policy after being notified of the investigation.

“My policies are fair, legal, and reflect the values of my community,” he wrote in a post on X.

Cheryl Minter said her petition is primarily intended to push for changes in Fairfax County and elsewhere. She also wants Descano removed from office.

“I think, first and foremost, is the change,” she said. “Second would be, I would love to see Descano out.”

Jennifer Harrison, executive director of the Victims’ Rights Reform Council, helped Minter launch the Change.org petition. Minter acknowledged that an online petition cannot remove Descano on its own, but she hopes it will bring greater scrutiny to his office.

Congress is also seeking answers from Descano. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, subpoenaed him on Sept. 16 as part of an investigation into whether prosecutors provide preferential treatment to criminal suspects based on their immigration status.

Jim Jordan sits in a hearing

Jordan set a Sept. 25 deadline after accusing Descano’s office of failing to fully comply with earlier requests.

In a previous statement to News Media, Descano’s office called the subpoena a “needless escalation” and accused the committee of waging a “partisan siege” against Fairfax County. It said the office had turned over more than 1,100 pages of documents, that Descano had voluntarily testified and that it would continue to respond to legitimate inquiries while working to keep the county safe.

The office has separately said it is prosecuting Jalloh for Stephanie’s murder with a trial scheduled for January 2027 and cannot comment further on the pending case.

Fairfax County police said Jalloh was arrested after an employee at a local business recognized him and called authorities the day after Stephanie Minter was killed. He was held without bond.

ICE lodged a detainer on Feb. 25 after Jalloh was in custody, asking to be notified before his release, according to DHS. The agency said it had also lodged a detainer against him in 2020 and that an immigration judge later ordered him removed to a country other than Sierra Leone.

Cheryl Minter said employees of Descano’s office working on her daughter’s murder case have been “wonderful with me.” She said her criticism is aimed at the decisions she believes left a repeat offender free.

“I want people never to stop talking about it,” she said. “I just don’t want the talk to stop, and I’ll do whatever to keep it going.”

“Stephanie cannot speak for herself anymore. So I am,” she wrote in the petition.

News Media reached out to Descano’s office for comment on Cheryl Minter’s allegations and petition.

Republican Senator Labels Xi a Reptile as Trump Lavishes Praise

0

President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to Washington this week with full diplomatic honors. On Capitol Hill, however, the visit sparked sharply divided reactions.

Senator John Kennedy, the Louisiana Republican, described Xi as a “reptile” and said he would not turn his back on the Chinese leader “if he’s two days dead.”

Kennedy said he understood Trump’s desire to reach an agreement with Beijing and wished the president well. But he emphasized that his view was based on personal experience, saying he had met Xi and sat across from him at a distance of about six feet.

“This man thinks he’s on a mission from God, except his God is himself,” Kennedy said.

Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, who was briefed this week on China’s assistance to Iran during its conflict with the United States, said Trump should be confronting Xi rather than offering him a ceremonial welcome.

“Far from rolling out the red carpet, [Trump] ought to be telling Xi: knock it off, stop it, or we’re not going to talk to you about AI or anything else,” Blumenthal told the Daily Mail.

Xi is visiting the White House at Trump’s invitation, just months after Trump traveled to China. The meeting comes as the two countries remain locked in a damaging trade dispute marked by tariffs and reciprocal restrictions on commerce.

Congressional leaders have repeatedly criticized Beijing’s trade policies and warned that China’s actions could endanger US supply chains and pose broader national security risks.

New Jersey Democrat Cory Booker rejected Kennedy’s description of Xi as a “reptile,” telling the Daily Mail that he would never “demean or degrade another person in that way.”

“He’s the leader of China, and somebody that is a strategic competitor with the United States,” Booker said.

Asked whether he supported Trump’s decision to give Xi a lavish welcome, both symbolically and in person, West Virginia Republican Jim Justice told the Daily Mail that China is “a superpower,” adding that the United States needs to work with Beijing and “be respectful of others.”

Justice said the United States should expect the same treatment from China if Trump returns for another visit. The president traveled to China earlier this year.

Trump, meanwhile, praised Xi during the visit, pointing out that it marked the first time he had hosted the Chinese president at the White House.

“We have spent time together all over the world,” Trump said, adding that he and Xi had “forged a friendship, a truly great friendship, actually.”

He called his visit to Beijing earlier this year a ‘great privilege’ and hailed Xi’s ‘spectacular and very beautiful hospitality.’

Capitol Hill lawmakers were not as chummy about the visit as Trump has been, at least publicly.

Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine, who sits on the Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, said he would not embrace Xi as Trump has if he were president.

Republican support came with conditions. Iowa’s Joni Ernst told the Daily Mail the meeting was ‘an opportunity to make sure China follows through on its commitments.’

She said she hoped it would underline ‘the importance of keeping American farmland in American hands’ and see China ‘holding up its end of the bargain by buying American crops, including soybeans.’

Ernst has campaigned for years to curb Chinese purchases of US farmland.

Earl Spencer Says He Won’t Intervene in Prince William and Prince Harry’s Rift

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Charles Spencer is making it clear that he will not take sides in the ongoing dispute between Prince William and Prince Harry. With Harry back in the U.K., the rift between the royal brothers has entered another phase, but Princess Diana’s younger brother says he has no interest in becoming a family mediator. “I’m just an uncle … I would never presume to be involved with that,” the Earl Spencer said during a September 23, 2026, appearance on ITV’s “Lorraine”. He also pushed back against the idea that he supports Harry over William, explaining that his loyalty belongs equally to both of Diana’s sons. “I’m on my deceased sister’s sons’ side, both of them,” he said in an earlier interview with the BBC.

Speculation about Spencer’s sympathies appears to come from his visible connection with Harry in recent years, despite the Duke of Sussex living in the United States since 2020. Harry has visited Althorp, the Spencer family estate, on multiple occasions, including in August 2024 while returning to Britain for a family memorial service. The Sussexes also stayed at the property during their July 2026 U.K. trip, when Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet reunited with their grandfather, King Charles III.

Spencer insists, however, that he would be there for either nephew if needed. “If either of them wanted anything, then I’d be equally there for them,” he told the BBC. He maintains that this has always been his approach, adding that he avoids aligning himself with either side of the family conflict and instead tries to remain “a benign figure.” Even so, reports suggest that one of the brothers may not view the relationship in quite the same way.

Prince William is reportedly angry about Charles Spencer’s memoir

Any doubts about the strength of Spencer’s relationship with Prince William were intensified by the release of his memoir, “Swan Song: Diana, my sister,” in September 2026. On the “Daily Expresso” podcast, presenter Mark Dolan claimed that royal sources say William is “absolutely furious” about the book. According to those reports, the future king’s anger centers on Spencer’s portrayal of King Charles III. “He doesn’t have a good relationship with his uncle Charles, and he’s firmly on his father’s side. He’s disgusted by what’s in this book,” Dolan said.

Among the memoir’s most contentious passages is Spencer’s account of Charles’ alleged response following Diana’s death. Citing People, Spencer recalled Charles saying, “‘Rest assured,’ he hissed, ‘we’ll forget her soon enough!’” Reports claim William was disturbed that the memoir would revisit the episode while his father is dealing with health concerns. “He’s been told to keep his life as stress-free as possible to help in his cancer fight,” an unnamed source told Closer Weekly, adding that the situation was “affecting him terribly.” William has not publicly addressed the book, while both royal brothers have avoided directly answering questions about its contents.

Spencer says he gave William and Harry advance notice about the memoir and informed them at the same time. “I told them exactly the same time. And I can say that Harry is completely fine about it,” he told People. Dolan suggested that Harry’s continued silence could be interpreted differently from William’s, noting that Harry has historically been more willing to speak publicly while William typically follows the royal family’s “Never complain, never explain” tradition. “You can only interpret, therefore, that he supports the content of the book,” Dolan said.

American Idol Singer Sweats as Songs for Mistress Are Played

Caleb Flynn appeared visibly uncomfortable as courtroom spectators struggled to suppress their laughter while songs he allegedly wrote for his mistress were played during his murder trial.

The 40-year-old former American Idol singer is accused of killing his wife, 37-year-old Ashley Flynn, inside their home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16.

Prosecutors allege Flynn shot Ashley after carrying on a “years-long” affair with 24-year-old Alleigha Botner. They further claim he attempted to make the killing appear to have been committed during a burglary.

Flynn has pleaded not guilty. He maintains that an intruder entered the house and killed Ashley while he slept in a nearby room with the couple’s two pre-teen daughters.

On Thursday, members of Ashley’s family appeared to hold back laughter as prosecutors played AI-produced versions of songs based on lyrics Flynn allegedly wrote during his relationship with Botner.

Botner had previously testified that Flynn wrote the lyrics about their affair.

As the music echoed through the courtroom, Flynn’s ears reddened. He also appeared to wipe sweat from his brow.

One lyric read: “So here’s to the third, and the us that we lost,” an apparent reference to the anniversary of the day Flynn and Botner began speaking.

Another line stated: “If somewhere you feel this, if somewhere you’re whole, know that you still own every piece of my soul.”

Botner, who has been testifying about her relationship with Flynn over two days of the trial, described their alleged affair in detail.

She said she was 20 when she met Flynn at the Christian Life Center in Dayton, Ohio, in 2022. At the time, she was working as an intern and Flynn was 36 or 37.

According to Botner, their relationship became romantic after she ended another relationship in early 2024 and Flynn began showing an interest in her.

Botner also admitted that she and Flynn used abusive language when discussing Ashley, referring to her as “spawn of Satan, b****, and douchebag.”

She testified that Flynn told her he hated his wife. Botner said she responded by giving him ultimatums and deadlines to leave Ashley.

Botner broke down while acknowledging that she and Flynn had exchanged messages expressing a desire for Ashley to die.

In one message sent to Flynn on July 10, 2025, Botner wrote: “Do you know how badly I want to say, ‘F it,’ to any rules and any barriers and just love you with my entire heart for the rest of my life?”

Prosecutors claim Flynn shot and killed his wife after having a 'years-long' affair with 24-year-old Alleigha Botner, then staged the scene to look like a break-in

Prosecutors allege Flynn killed his wife after an affair with 24-year-old Alleigha Botner and then staged the home to resemble a break-in

Flynn has pleaded not guilty to the charges and insists that a home intruder killed his wife while he slept in a room just feet away with the pair's two pre-teen daughters

Flynn denies the charges and says an intruder killed Ashley while he slept nearby with their two pre-teen daughters

The mistress started to cry and told the court: ‘I just wish I didn’t say this. I didn’t mean it.’

She then continued to read the text message that said: ‘I want to kill her, Caleb. It’s so bad.’

Flynn replied, ‘That makes two of us.’

The pair communicated until midnight on the night of the alleged murder, and she testified that she sent him several screenshots of her research on divorce proceedings that included information about custody issues, deleting messages, and how Flynn’s wife could prove he cheated.

The last thing Flynn told her was: ‘Good night, tomorrow’s a big day. I’ve got to get to bed. I choose you, I’m about to be free.’

Botner told the jury that prior to seeing Flynn in the courtroom on Wednesday, the last time she saw him was at Ashley’s parents’ house on February 16, hours after she was killed.

‘The first thing he said to me was, “It didn’t happen the way we thought it would, did it?”‘ Botner testified.

The court concluded for the day after his songs were played for the jury. His trial is set to resume on Friday at 9am ET.

Yes. As of September 24, 2026, Dove Cameron is married to Damiano David, the Italian singer best known as the frontman of Måneskin. The couple exchanged vows in a civil ceremony in Montalcino, Tuscany, after more than two years together and several months as an engaged couple.

The wedding followed a relationship that moved from early speculation in 2023 to a confirmed engagement in January 2026. Cameron and David had also spoken publicly about planning their wedding and building a life between the United States and Italy.

Who is Dove Cameron married to?

Dove Cameron’s husband is Damiano David, an Italian singer and songwriter from Rome. He became internationally known as the lead vocalist of Måneskin, the rock band that won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2021 with “Zitti e Buoni.” The group later reached a global audience with songs including “Beggin’,” “I Wanna Be Your Slave” and “Supermodel.”

David began developing a solo career while remaining closely associated with Måneskin. His first solo album, Funny Little Fears, was released in 2025 and presented a more personal, pop-oriented side of his songwriting.

Cameron is an American actress and singer who became widely recognized through Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie and the Descendants franchise. She later pursued a solo music career, releasing songs and projects aimed at an adult pop audience.

When did Dove Cameron and Damiano David get married?

Dove Cameron and Damiano David were married on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Their civil ceremony took place in the town hall of Montalcino, a Tuscan hill town in the Val d’Orcia region of Italy.

The ceremony was private, with close friends and family in attendance. After the civil service, the couple continued celebrations at a nearby luxury resort. Their arrival in Montalcino drew public attention, with fans gathering to see the newlyweds.

Both Cameron and David wore light-colored wedding looks for the civil ceremony. Cameron appeared in a white bridal suit with a cape-like detail, while David wore a cream double-breasted suit. Their wedding style reflected the couple’s preference for fashion-forward, understated clothing rather than a traditional formal gown and tuxedo.

Were Dove Cameron and Damiano David engaged before the wedding?

Yes. Cameron and David became engaged in late 2025, although they waited until January 2026 to confirm the news publicly. Cameron shared a photograph that showed her engagement ring and described the moment as a major personal milestone.

The couple had already sparked engagement speculation after Cameron was seen wearing a prominent ring. Rather than immediately respond to the speculation, they kept the proposal private and announced the engagement on their own terms.

In a television interview earlier in 2026, Cameron discussed the proposal and offered a glimpse into the couple’s relationship. She described David as her fiancé and spoke warmly about their plans, making clear that marriage was not merely an online rumor.

When did Dove Cameron and Damiano David start dating?

The pair were first linked in 2023 after being seen together in public. Their relationship became more visible over time, with Cameron and David appearing together at events and supporting each other’s music and acting work.

They made several public appearances during 2024 and 2025, including fashion events and industry gatherings. David also referred to Cameron as his partner in interviews connected with his solo music, while Cameron’s own public comments and music increasingly reflected the relationship.

The couple’s romance also appeared in their creative work. David wrote about Cameron in connection with songs from his solo album, and she contributed vocals to one of his tracks. Cameron later released music that listeners associated with her relationship and new life with the Italian singer.

How did Dove Cameron and Damiano David meet?

Cameron and David reportedly first crossed paths at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, where both were connected to the Best New Artist category. Their relationship did not become public until the following year.

Cameron later described their first meeting as unusually memorable, suggesting that the circumstances sounded almost like a fictional story. The pair did not immediately present themselves as a public couple, which helped keep the early stages of their relationship relatively private.

By the time they began appearing together more regularly, both had already established major careers. Cameron was known for her work in film, television and pop music, while David was one of the most recognizable young rock singers in Europe.

Where did Dove Cameron and Damiano David’s wedding take place?

The wedding took place in Montalcino, Italy, in the Tuscan countryside. The town is known for its historic architecture, vineyards and location in the Val d’Orcia, one of central Italy’s most recognizable landscapes.

The civil ceremony was held at the Palazzo dei Priori, the historic municipal building. The couple reportedly chose a low-key ceremony with tight security and a limited guest list before moving to a private reception location.

The setting also reflected David’s Italian background. Although the couple have spent substantial time in Los Angeles, they have discussed the importance of dividing their lives between America and Italy rather than treating one country as the only place they call home.

What has the couple said about their relationship?

Cameron and David have generally shared selected details rather than documenting every aspect of their private life. In interviews before the wedding, they spoke about ordinary routines, travel and the practical challenges of maintaining a relationship while working internationally.

Their comments have emphasized the difference between their public image and their day-to-day life. Both have described making an effort to keep their relationship grounded, even as their careers involve international travel, performances, premieres and constant public attention.

David has also credited Cameron with supporting his solo career. Cameron has appeared in connection with his music and has discussed how the relationship influenced her own creative perspective. Their professional lives overlap, but each has continued to pursue separate projects.

Is Damiano David still in Måneskin?

Damiano David is best known as Måneskin’s frontman, but he has also established himself as a solo artist. His solo work began with Funny Little Fears, which allowed him to explore a sound distinct from the band’s glam-rock style.

For readers searching for “Dove Cameron’s husband Måneskin frontman,” David’s connection to the band remains central to his public identity. However, his career is no longer limited to the group. He has performed and recorded independently while continuing to be recognized for the role that made him famous.

Cameron’s career has followed a similarly broad path. She first became known as a Disney star before moving into more mature film, television and music projects. Their relationship therefore joins two performers who have both grown beyond the careers that initially made them household names.
