German Swimming Pool’s Controversial Decision Sparks Emotions: “Black People Only” Day Stirs Debate

0

In Germany, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at highlighting inclusivity sparked lively debate when a public swimming pool promoted an event dedicated solely to Black communities.

Nestled in front of Berlin’s iconic Volksbuhne theatre, this temporary open-air pool made its debut just last week and will be a summer staple for the next eight weeks.

With a hefty investment of €300,000 (£256,289), this pop-up pool was intended to be a vibrant meeting place for locals. However, a significant wave of scrutiny hit when it announced plans to restrict access to most of the public for a single day.

Scheduled for Friday, August 14, the Volksbuhne’s official website—aptly named ‘People’s Theatre’—noted, “During this period, the public bath will be open exclusively to Black communities.”

From 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on that day, the 25-meter pool will not be accessible to the general public, with organizers calling for respect towards this “collective self-designation” and the exclusive space it creates.

Volksbuhne has since cancelled the event, which was in partnership with the anti-discrimination community project Each One Teach One (EOTO).

The theatre cited ‘security concerns’ for its decision, which followed ‘the fact that swimming for Black children and teenagers has become the target of right-wing and racist harassment’.

It comes after a German beach faced heavy criticism last week after bathers were told by a lifeguard that they must speak the language – or they would be banned from the lake.

The €300,000 (£256,289) pop-up was promoted as a summer meeting spot for locals

The swimming pool in Volksbuhne was originally announced as a symbol against exclusion and commercialisation, with it being marketed as a ‘summer invitation’.

The event was held in collaboration with the public-funded EOTO, which offers social and cultural programmes for Black people.

The move sparked anger from excluded Berliners after the project’s six-figure sum was funded by Volksbuhne, which receives more than €20million (£17million) annually from public funding.

The number of swimmers allowed to use the pool at one time is limited to 46, with the theatre estimating costs of around €300,000 for an expected 20,000 visitors.

It is, notably, free to use for visitors.

Volksbuhne’s new director Matthias Lilienthal described the move as wishing to provide people a place to swim in a city where options are limited.

He told German news outlet ZDF: ‘Half of the indoor and outdoor pools are closed, so we thought we’d help out Governing Mayor Kai Wegner.

‘The Volksbuhne considers even something as simple as two people splashing each other to be a theatrical event’, he added.

Heidebad beach in Halle, north-east Germany, saw the rules introduced after Mathias Nobel said swimmers' safety was threatened

Heidebad beach in Halle, north-east Germany, saw the rules introduced after Mathias Nobel said swimmers’ safety was threatened

The Volksbuhne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz theatre dates back to 1914, and is widely viewed as one of Berlin’s most historic theatres. It welcomes around 130,000 visitors with its, on average, 20 events per week.

Meanwhile, a racism row erupted at the Heidebad lakeside beach in Halle, eastern Germany, when a lifeguard banned those who could not speak German from the lake this summer.

Mathias Nobel decided bathers should be able to understand safety rules after saving a toddler who almost drowned after swimming into a 138ft-deep section of the lake in June.

Described as the ‘German-only’ policy, Mr Nobel was accused of discrimination and racism.

Authorities in Halle told him to row back on the language rules and warned moves which ‘might be perceived as xenophobic’ could damage the city’s reputation.

The far-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) seized on the row and said German swimming pools were becoming ‘danger zones’.

It added: ‘When private operators are forced to implement their own language controls to ensure the safety of swimmers, the state’s loss of control has definitively reached the heart of our society.’

But Mr Nobel was criticised by the German life-saving association and the country’s anti-discrimination agency pointed out there were no equivalent rules for German tourists bathing abroad.

He told The Telegraph: ‘I had large families coming by and when I tried to explain the safety rules to the parents, it was clear they could not understand me.

‘It was the same if I asked them how old their children were, because under-fives swim for free here. And if I saw a child swimming without armbands, and tried to speak with them, the response was simply “ja, ja” [yes, yes], and I did not feel they knew what I meant.’

He said he was worried the language barrier could cause serious harm and added he denies any allegations of racism.

For him, the issue was about ‘listening to lifeguards’ and ‘respect’.

Halle lies in the former East German state of Saxony-Anhalt, which is set for elections next month in which immigration remains a primary issue.

Currently the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is the largest party in the state parliament but the AfD finished second in the last poll and will look to add to its 23 seats in the 83-strong legislature.

Nationally, CDU Chancellor Friedrich Merz has taken a hardline on immigration in response to the AfD threat.

This month, Mr Merz’s government continued a spat with Italy over migrant transfers under the EU’s Dublin system, which gives responsibility for asylum-seekers to the first bloc country the individual entered.

The Volksbuhne has been contacted for comment.

California Teens Flock to Trade Schools Amid Surging College Costs

0

For many young Californians today, the conventional trajectory from high school directly to a four-year college is being reassessed as they explore alternative routes to achieving a stable, middle-class lifestyle.

With escalating tuition fees, an unpredictable job market, and the rising impact of artificial intelligence, increasing numbers of youth are considering careers that emphasize practical training over traditional degrees.

This trend is evident in the surge of interest in trade programs and apprenticeships throughout California.

On a national level, enrollment in public two-year colleges, which are dedicated to vocational and trade education, has seen a significant uptick since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to data from the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, enrollment numbers for these institutions soared to approximately 871,000 by spring 2025—marking an impressive increase of nearly 20% compared to spring 2020.

That growth has continued, although at a slower pace. In spring 2026, enrollment at high-vocational public two-year colleges increased another 2.8%, or roughly 24,000 students, according to the Clearinghouse report.

California is particularly well positioned for the trend.

The state’s community college system says it is the largest provider of workforce training in the world, offering more than 200 career education programs, including automotive technology, engineering and skilled crafts. Officials say many programs can be completed in less than a year, with courses costing $46 per unit.

And students are increasingly competing for spots in some of the state’s apprenticeship programs.

In Los Angeles County, the Electrical Training Institute in Commerce — which trains electricians through an apprenticeship program — says its application windows can close once 2,000 applications have been received.

The institute’s 2026 application schedule lists multiple windows, including one in July that closed after reaching the application limit.

The appeal is straightforward: instead of spending four years paying for college before entering the workforce, apprentices can train for a skilled occupation while gaining hands-on experience.

California has nearly 100,000 active registered apprentices, according to the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, which has made apprenticeships a central part of its workforce strategy.

The system says apprenticeships combine classroom instruction with hands-on career training and can lead to high-wage careers without student loan debt.

That can be particularly attractive in California, where the cost of a four-year degree can quickly add up.

At the University of California, a California resident entering as an undergraduate in the 2026-27 academic year faces $14,202 in annual tuition, plus a $1,386 Student Services Fee, before housing, food, books and other expenses.

Trade programs, by comparison, are generally designed around getting students into a specific occupation rather than requiring years of general education before they begin working.

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has also made career education a central part of its Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to increase the number of students completing career programs and finding jobs in their fields while expanding pathways into in-demand occupations.

The shift does not mean young people are abandoning college altogether.

Community college enrollment overall rose 3.1% in spring 2026, while public four-year enrollment increased 1.5%, according to the National Student Clearinghouse.

But vocational-focused colleges are continuing to post gains, while enrollment in some traditionally popular fields is moving in the opposite direction.

Computer and information sciences, for example, saw undergraduate enrollment fall sharply from the previous spring — down 8.4% at four-year institutions and 11.2% at two-year institutions.

At the same time, health professions enrollment increased across award levels and institution types for a third consecutive year.

Why Donald Trump Reportedly Clashed with Jeanine Pirro: Insider Insights

0

In a dramatic bid to secure her position, Jeanine Pirro brought a trove of documents to a meeting with Donald Trump, following a public admonishment from the President. Pirro, aiming to retain her role as US attorney, was determined to present her side of the story directly to Trump.

Spotted entering the West Wing with a box of crucial evidence, the former Fox News host acted swiftly after Trump accused her of yielding under pressure, saying she “folded like an umbrella,” a source disclosed to the Daily Mail.

Trump’s ire was ignited when he discovered the DC office, under Pirro’s supervision, sought to drop charges against ex-Olympian canoeist David Hearn. Hearn had faced allegations for defacing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, an act that drew public outrage.

Responding to the President’s fury, Pirro – a seasoned judge and district attorney appointed as US Attorney for Washington, DC, last year – meticulously laid out the details of the evidence for Trump. Sources familiar with the meeting noted that while Trump was visibly upset, he listened to her explanation with measured understanding.

Renowned for her no-nonsense approach, Pirro didn’t deflect responsibility or downplay the situation’s gravity. Her straightforward manner aimed to reassure the President of her commitment to her duties.

‘She took the hit, she’s a big girl, she can handle it,’ the source said.

A separate source, however, said that Trump was more angry that he was not informed of the decision in advance.

‘The reason Trump went ballistic is that he didn’t know about it. It didn’t get by him,’ a Washington insider told the Daily Mail.

Trump Publicly Rebukes Jeanine Pirro Over Dismissed Case

Sources told the Daily Mail that the news was expected to slip by the president and the media as part of a Friday evening news dump, but he was enraged the next day when he saw the media making it a focus of their news coverage.

On Truth Social, Trump signaled his frustration with Pirro Saturday afternoon, questioning her judgment in the case.

‘I don’t know what she was thinking? To me, it was a pure case of vandalism,’ he wrote, adding that he disagreed with her ‘100 percent.’

By Monday, the story continued to saturate cable news, further provoking the president’s anger.

‘I was disappointed with Jeanine Pirro, really disappointed with Jeanine Pirro,’ Trump said angrily to reporters in the Oval Office Monday afternoon. ‘She folded like an umbrella, and people get away with things, and it’s a disgrace.’

People close to the president told the Daily Mail they were shocked by Trump’s public comments, as Pirro has been not just an ally but a close friend.

Trump Stands by Jeanine Pirro After Case Setback

Pirro does not play Washington, DC, games, one source noted, as she keeps a very close-knit social circle that only shrank further when she took the job as US attorney.

She’s not a ‘leaker’ either, leaving many of her friends out of the loop when it comes to her work for the president.

Trump concluded that Pirro was dealt a ‘rough hand’ with the judge on the case, one source detailed, but that he was not likely to fire her.

But it was a mistake that she would be unable to fix.

‘The case is institutionally over in the Justice Department. What’s done is done, you can’t reindict them,’ the source said.

Discover the 80s Sitcom Child Star Who Became a Household Name

Remember the intelligent sibling of Jason Bateman’s character from a beloved 1980s sitcom? You might be surprised to see how this former child star looks today.

This weekend, the now 55-year-old actor made headlines with his strikingly different appearance as he was spotted strolling through Los Angeles alongside his wife, who is 56.

His wife, an actress herself, gained recognition with her roles in popular TV shows like CSI: NY and Charmed.

The Southern California-born actor embraced a laid-back look, sporting a blue t-shirt matched with grey shorts, and chose slide sandals to complete his sun-friendly ensemble.

Gone are the days of his thick, dark locks; now, his hair is closely cropped and clearly thinner. The celebrity accessorized with sunglasses to keep his eyes shielded from the California sun.

The father-of-two stepped away from acting in 2004 to pursue a career as an independent life and medical insurance agent in California, but has returned to the screen in recent years.

Can you guess who he is?

Licht also appeared in Twilight Zone: The Movie as well as alongside Sally Field in the 1981 TV movie All The Way Home.

He was joined by wife Kimberly Wallis during his latest outing.

Wallis showed off her legs in a pair of denim shorts paired with a grey tank top.

She topped off the look with a black hat, with her brunette hair pulled back into a ponytail.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Licht and Wallis for comment.

Licht married Wallis in 2007. They have two children together.

He was previously married to Carol-Ann Plante from 1996 until 2001.

Licht and Bateman played brothers on The Hogan Family, which ran from 1986 to 1991.

The Hogan Family, which was originally titled Valerie, centered on Valerie Harper as Valerie Hogan, a mother balancing raising her three sons, working at an auction house and dealing with her pilot husband’s frequent absences.

Her sons were played by Bateman as David, Licht as Mark and Danny Ponce as Willie.

Harper left the series after two seasons due to a salary dispute. Sandy Duncan joined the cast as Sandy Hogan, the boys’ aunt who moved in and became their surrogate mother.

The show was renamed Valerie’s Family: The Hogans for its third season before becoming The Hogan Family for its final three seasons.

In June, Licht spoke about Bateman becoming like an ‘older brother’ to him on set, despite the times they ‘fought and argued.’

‘I have in real life a younger brother, so all of a sudden I had an older brother,’ he told Remind Magazine.

‘Jason was great, unbelievable professional, knew so much about, especially sitcoms,’ he said. ‘I had never really done a sitcom. I’d done an episode of something before, but never a sitcom and all of a sudden I’m booked on this show and he just knew timing.’

‘To this day, his timing is good. His cadence in everything is just amazing.’

He noted that there were times not everyone got along.

‘Was it always easy? No. We had three boys who were pre-and actively pubescent and of a certain age. And were there times that we fought and argued? Absolutely. Were we always showing up to rehearsals and professional? Absolutely.’

‘Because we experienced five years together, there can also be brutal honesty when things are challenging.’

Licht went on to say, ‘I love Jason and all of them, and my experience was all good.’

He added cast remain close to this day: ‘We still end up going to lunch every six months or so when we can all get our acts and schedules together.’

Licht’s most recent acting credit was in the 2025 short film Star-Crossed. His other notable credits include the 1980 TV movie The Comeback Kid, alongside John Ritter, and the 2023 short mystery thriller Seat 23B.

Sophie Turner’s Romantic Twist: Meet Aristocrat Peregrine Pearson

An aristocrat who was seen sharing a raunchy kiss with Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has a family net worth of more than £224million ($270million) and dated King Charles' goddaughter. Peregrine Pearson is the eldest son and heir of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray - a former film producer who owns a significant chunk of the Pearson media empire. The 29-year-old has a £5million ($6million) pad in Chelsea while his father owns a sprawling mansion in West Sussex with 22 bedrooms and 16,500 acres of grounds boasting 10 polo pitches.

Recently making headlines, Peregrine Pearson found himself in the spotlight after being photographed sharing an intimate moment with Sophie Turner of Game of Thrones fame. Peregrine hails from a family with a staggering net worth exceeding £224 million ($270 million) and has a fascinating history that includes dating King Charles’ goddaughter. As the eldest son of Michael Pearson, the 4th Viscount Cowdray and former film producer, Peregrine is heir to a significant portion of the Pearson media empire. The 29-year-old resides in a luxurious £5 million ($6 million) home in Chelsea, while his father enjoys the grandeur of a sprawling West Sussex estate featuring a 22-bedroom mansion surrounded by 16,500 acres of land with 10 polo pitches.

An onlooker who spotted Sophie and Peregrine in Paris said: 'They arrived together at the chauffeur pick-up location outside of the station. It looked like they might have both come on the Eurostar from London.' While Sophie is said to be worth a whopping £10million ($12million), this pales in comparison to Peregrine's family fortune. His ancestral estate is home to Cowdray Park Polo Club - which boasts 10 pitches and hosts more than 450 matches each year.

Eyewitnesses claim to have spotted the high-profile pair, Sophie and Peregrine, together in Paris, suspecting they had arrived by Eurostar from London. Although Sophie’s net worth is an impressive £10 million ($12 million), it is modest when compared to the vast wealth of Peregrine’s family. The family’s ancestral Cowdray estate is a prime location for polo enthusiasts, hosting Cowdray Park Polo Club which features 10 pitches and organizes over 450 matches each year.

The prestigious club hosts the annual Gold Cup, where both Prince William and Prince Harry have played. The Gold Cup is polo's most prestigious European event. The main Cowdray House, bought in 1908 by Peregrine's great-great-grandfather Weetman Dickinson Pearson, has 120 acres of formal gardens and woodland. The house was a replacement for a Tudor manor built by the Montague family, which burnt down in 1793.

Among these matches is the renowned Gold Cup, a pinnacle event in European polo, graced by the participation of royals like Prince William and Prince Harry. The principal Cowdray House, acquired by Peregrine’s great-great-grandfather Weetman Dickinson Pearson in 1908, is nestled within 120 acres of designed gardens and woodland. This historic structure replaced a Tudor manor originally constructed by the Montague family, which unfortunately succumbed to fire in 1793.

In 2009, Lord and Lady Cowdray reportedly decided to put the estate on the market for £25million ($30million), but decided they couldn't part with the property and instead started hosting luxury events there, with Cowdray Hall now serving as a wellness center. Cowdray Hall offers spiritual workshops, retreats and weekly classes, and features a chapel used for yoga, Pilates and meditation.

In a fascinating twist, back in 2009, Lord and Lady Cowdray considered selling the estate for £25 million ($30 million). However, sentimental ties prevailed, propelling them to utilize the estate for hosting luxurious events instead. Presently, Cowdray Hall has transformed into a wellness center offering spiritual workshops, retreats, and weekly classes, including yoga, Pilates, and meditation within its chapel.

Peregrine previously admitted that despite being the heir to the sprawling estate, which also features a farm shop and café, he does not play polo himself. He told the Telegraph in 2018: 'I'm getting lessons, I grew up riding and over the next few years it's something I can see myself doing a lot more.' The publication also reported that Peregrine was taking a more active role in running the estate and was shadowing chief executive Jonathan Russell to learn about the intricacies of the polo club. 'It's great to be able to observe it from a distance and see what my future role is going to be,' Peregrine said.

Despite his prestigious inheritance, Peregrine has confessed to not actively participating in polo, despite the sport’s prominence at his family estate. In a 2018 interview with the Telegraph, he shared his desire to embrace the sport by taking lessons, revealing, ‘I grew up riding, and over the next few years, it’s something I can see myself doing a lot more.’ Engaged in maintaining family tradition, Peregrine is keen to immerse himself in the workings of the estate, spending time shadowing the chief executive, Jonathan Russell, to gain insights into the management of the polo club. He remarked, ‘It’s great to be able to observe it from a distance and see what my future role is going to be.’

Peregrine's own children will not grow up in Cowdray Estate due to it being transformed into an events venue, but Peregrine said he isn't upset at the prospect as he looked towards the future. 'Having heard the stress of managing these type of houses, it's the perfect compromise,' he told The Telegraph. 'The house is still an important part of the community and a valuable employer, without costing us money to run. And I still have the luxury of using it when I like.'

Peregrine, known to friends as Perry, began dating his ex, Princess Maria-Olympia, in 2020. Friends began whispering about the state of their relationship when Peregrine was conspicuous by his absence at the Chelsea-based model's 27th birthday party in July. After their split, Olympia, the only daughter of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and his wife, Marie-Chantal Miller, 'unfollowed' Peregrine on Instagram. She also deleted all traces of him on her account on the picture-sharing social media app. 'They grew apart,' a source told the Daily Mail's Richard Eden at the time. 'Their friends and family were hoping their union would lead to marriage, but it wasn't meant to be.'

Olympia's grandfather is King Constantine, a relation of Prince Philip, who was exiled from Greece following the 1967 coup. The family continue to use their royal titles decades after the abolition of the monarchy. Their split came after Peregrine was absent from the model's 27th birthday party two months earlier in July. The couple had not been seen in public together since November 2022, and did not holiday together this year after three consecutive summers of doing so. Instead, the Princess visited Italy and Greece with family and friends including actress Poppy Delevingne , who has been linked to her brother Prince Constantine Alexios. Meanwhile, Peregrine spent his summer with pals in Cow Neck, New York state, as well as in Spain with family. He also went to the Burning Man festival in Nevada.

Probation Violator Arrested for Chilling Threats Against Ex-Girlfriend and Her Children

0

Report by our staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a disturbing turn of events, 32-year-old Nathail Eugene Harrington Jr. from Hawthorne found himself under arrest following accusations of stalking and making death threats against a former girlfriend and her children, according to police reports.

Allegations surfaced when the woman, whose name has not been disclosed, contacted the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department. She described receiving a barrage of calls and texts from Harrington on August 10, despite their recent breakup. The messages, charged with disturbing emotions, allegedly suggested he was unwilling to let go. Alarmingly, he threatened to murder her, her children, and himself if she maintained the breakup. Even more chilling, he purportedly threatened to broadcast these acts live on Facebook.

The woman, sensing the gravity of the threat, began to record their calls. From these recordings, a deputy noted Harrington’s voice saying ominously, “If I can’t have you, I don’t want nobody, and you ain’t gonna have nobody. Imma do it, bruh, then imma do it to myself,” reinforcing the seriousness of his threats.

Given their intimate history, Harrington knew where she lived and her daily routine. On the early morning of August 11, at roughly 3:15 a.m., the victim noticed Harrington lurking near her apartment. Disturbed by his presence on the sidewalk, she immediately called law enforcement, but he vanished from sight before deputies could arrive.

The victim told a deputy that she received over 200 missed phone calls from Harrington over 12 hours, and at one point, he threatened to “stay watching your house.” Referring to his threats to harm the victim, he allegedly wrote, “I have to do it.” The victim believed that Harrington had both the will and capability to kill her and her children.

Harrington, a designated violent felony offender of special concern, has been charged with aggravated stalking. He has 11 felony convictions (three violent) and nine misdemeanor convictions (non-violent), and he has served six state prison sentences, with his most recent release in April 2026. He was arrested in March 2025 for backing a stolen car into a patrol vehicle and then fleeing from deputies and is still on drug offender probation in that case after serving a 15-month prison sentence.

Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Luigi Mangione Set to Plead Guilty in Federal Case: Implications and Repercussions Explored

Luigi Mangione, accused of killing a health insurance executive in Manhattan, is reportedly poised to admit guilt in a federal stalking charge, as per a report by the New York Times on Thursday.

A guilty plea could sidestep a widely followed trial concerning the death of UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson—a shocking incident decried by public authorities but also a reflection of the widespread discontent against health insurance practices in America. This plea may also postpone Mangione’s upcoming trial for state murder charges set for next month.

Neither Mangione’s representatives nor the Manhattan US Attorney’s Office have provided comments on the matter.

Ahead of his federal court appearance on Friday, called for by both his defense team and prosecutors—who have not specified the reason—a guilty plea remains uncertain as Mangione retains the option to alter his decision even during the hearing. The New York Times mentioned the lack of clarity on the specific charges Mangione might accept responsibility for, noting the ongoing nature of negotiation talks could lead to fluctuations in the deal’s details.

Back in April 2025, Mangione professed his innocence to murder, weapons, and stalking charges imposed by federal authorities in Manhattan.

US District Judge Margaret Garnett threw out the murder and weapons charges over legal technicalities in a surprise ruling in January. The decision eliminated the possibility that Mangione would face the death penalty, though he still faces a possible sentence of life without parole if convicted on the remaining stalking charges.

His federal trial was most recently set for January.

Mangione separately pleaded not guilty in December 2024 to state terrorism, murder, weapons and forgery charges brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The terrorism charges were thrown out by a judge in September 2025.

A trial in that case is scheduled for September 8 before Justice Gregory Carro in Manhattan.

If he pleads guilty in the federal case, Mangione is likely to seek dismissal of the murder charge under New York’s double jeopardy law, which protects people from being prosecuted twice for the same conduct. Bragg’s office would oppose the move, arguing that the murder charge is legally distinct from the federal charges. Whoever loses would likely seek an emergency appeal.

Thompson led UnitedHealth Group’s UNH.N insurance unit before he was shot dead 4 December 2024, outside a hotel where an investor conference was taking place.

Graphic footage of the killing and a five-day manhunt for a suspect made the case a media fixture and social media sensation. Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania.

Text Reveals Grisly Intent Before Connecticut Home Invasion

In a startling twist to a tragic case, recent court filings shed light on a possible motive driven by revenge behind a violent home invasion that left a man dead in a serene Connecticut beach town, as reported.

The horrific incident took place at Frederick Werner’s residence on East Broadway in Milford. The 69-year-old was discovered with multiple fatal gunshot wounds, while his partner suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is currently recovering, police revealed.

Authorities have apprehended two accused individuals, Ivan Barias-Florimon, 24, and Stuar Lopez-Reyes, 25. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to news sources that they are Dominican citizens involved in the June 3 crime.

Details from an unsealed arrest warrant suggest that the female survivor, who was shot in the head, revealed to investigators that she had terminated an employee shortly before the attack. She speculated that this might have triggered the assault, according to a report by CT Insider.

The victim suspected the employee of stealing money from her real estate business, she told investigators.

The warrant says text messages between this fired employee and Barias-Florimon revealed his alleged enraged reaction to the firing; it is unclear what the nature of the relationship between the pair was.

CT Insider reported the fired employee texted Barias-Florimon that her boss is “going to make my life hell,” the woman texted.

Barias-Florimon responded and said “I’ll make her life hell,” the warrant said.

More texts reveal he also allegedly texted the woman, “[just] say the word” and “[I’ll] **** her lifee OVERRRRRR,” the warrant said.

As for the other suspect, Lopez-Reyes, the victim reportedly told investigators that she was fearful of him and was able to identify him as the other suspect seen inside the home, as captured on video surveillance, according to the warrant.

Both suspects are facing charges including murder and assault on an elderly person in connection with the incident. Both await upcoming court appearances as they sit in jail.

DHS previously confirmed to News Media that the agency is seeking to revoke the green cards of the two suspects.
