GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Shaquill Ji’juan Walker, 30, was arrested early this morning and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to shoot her.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to an undisclosed apartment complex after midnight on March 4, and the victim reportedly said she and Walker had been arguing by text message, then after she arrived, Walker met her downstairs, where they had a verbal argument. She reportedly said that Walker pushed her, and then the two began fighting physically; she said Walker choked her, then dragged her to an electrical box and dropped her on her back before going upstairs.

The victim reportedly told the deputy that she began collecting her belongings at the base of the stairway, then Walker came back down the stairs, and they started arguing again. She said Walker pulled out a gun, pulled back the slide, and pointed it at her, saying he would shoot her.

A witness reportedly told the deputy he saw the gun and went inside to get his phone.

Post Miranda, Walker reportedly said he had been arguing with the victim by text when she came to the apartment complex, then he went downstairs, and they started arguing verbally. He said the victim pushed him down the stairs and he grabbed her neck while falling; he said he didn’t choke her. He said he then went back upstairs to call his girlfriend. When asked about the gun, Walker reportedly said he has a concealed carry permit and had the gun in his waistband, but it fell out while they were fighting. He said he immediately picked up the gun and put it back into his waistband. He denied pointing the gun at anyone or threatening anyone.

During a protective sweep of Walker’s apartment after he was arrested, deputies reportedly found a gun matching the “brown pistol” described by the victim, a tan FN 509 handgun.

Walker completed a deferred prosecution agreement for petit theft charges in 2013, resulting in the charges being dropped; he has no criminal convictions. In response to a motion for pre-trial detention from the State Attorney’s Office, Judge Susan Miller-Jones ordered Walker held without bond, pending a ruling on the motion.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
