A Los Angeles Rams defensive front featuring Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett would be the kind of matchup that keeps most NFL offenses on edge.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, however, insists it is not costing him any rest.
Speaking with reporters Tuesday morning, Purdy was asked about the challenge of facing a Rams defensive line with Garrett and Donald. One reporter put it plainly: “The fact that the Rams have Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald, what’s your sleep score currently?”
Purdy laughed off the question before answering, “I’m still at eight hours.
“It’s a great question. But yeah, obviously those guys playing together and stuff, they’re really good players. It’s gonna be fun to go up against them,” the 49ers quarterback added, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Lively.
Purdy can continue to sleep soundly, as news broke on Tuesday that Donald won’t be making the trip to Australia with his team. The team has decided to give the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year more time to ramp-up after being retired for the past two seasons.
Even if Purdy wasn’t letting the Donald and Garrett tandem impact his sleep before this news, the same couldn’t necessarily be said for the 49ers’ offensive line.
The O-line is the perceived weakness for San Francisco’s offense. And if 2025 taught us anything, it is that Garrett is good enough by himself to wreck anyone’s game plan.
