The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit favorite turned an ordinary wedding photo session into an unforgettable moment after spotting a newly married couple while portraying Olivia Benson.
In video shared on Instagram Oct. 1, Hargitay—dressed in a gray peacoat and black pants and wearing Benson’s NYPD badge—hurried toward the surprised bride and groom as they posed outside New York County Supreme Court.

Never one to miss a photo opportunity, the actress leaned in beside the couple with a broad smile, fully embracing the unexpected encounter.
The sweet surprise was hardly Hargitay’s first memorable interaction with fans. During her 28 seasons on the long-running NBC procedural, she has become known for these spontaneous moments. In March 2024, she similarly interrupted another couple’s wedding photoshoot shortly after they filed their paperwork in New York City.
After joining the newlyweds for a few pictures, Hargitay joked in video of the encounter shared by Splash News, “I’m your wedding present.”
