Dutton Ranch Season 2: Release Date and Return Details

It’s officially Sheridan Sunday, and fans of Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, are once again asking the same question: Could the hit series finally return with new episodes this week?

That question has become even more pressing since Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, premiered its highly anticipated second season last weekend. Viewers are eager to learn when Dutton Ranch Season 2 will arrive, particularly after the July finale, Episode 9, “El Padrino,” ended with major cliffhangers and several unresolved storylines.

Here’s where the story left off: Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) were desperate to find Carter (Finn Little), who had been kidnapped by members of Mariano’s (Raoul Max Trujillo) cartel. Meanwhile, Beulah (Annette Bening) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind) were grieving the shocking death of Rob-Will (Jai Courtney), who appears to have been killed by his brother, Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba).

So what can fans expect from Dutton Ranch Season 2? When will the new season premiere? Is Dutton Ranch on tonight, Sunday, October 11? What time does Marshals air, and could the two shows eventually cross over? Here’s the latest on Dutton Ranch Season 2 and Marshals Season 2.

Is Dutton Ranch On Tonight (10/11/26)?

Unfortunately, Dutton Ranch is not returning tonight. However, a new episode of Sheridan’s other Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, will air on CBS at approximately 8:00 p.m. ET. The start time could shift depending on when the earlier NFL game on CBS concludes. New episodes will also be available to stream the following day on Paramount+.

Will There Be A Season 2 Of Dutton Ranch? Is Dutton Ranch Canceled Or Renewed for Season 2?

Paramount+ officially renewed Dutton Ranch for Season 2 on Wednesday, June 24, ahead of Episode 8. The decision came as little surprise. The series holds a Certified Fresh 90% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes and, according to a Paramount+ press release, became a major hit after attracting 12.9 million viewers worldwide within seven days of its premiere. That made it the biggest original-series launch in Paramount+ history. The show also drew 2.9 million total viewers during its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, marking cable’s biggest series premiere since 2023. The premiere telecast alone reached 1.85 million viewers, making it the No. 1 cable entertainment telecast among adults 18-49 and total viewers.

“Dutton Ranch has resonated with audiences in a powerful way, building on the legacy of beloved characters, while establishing its own identity,” Matt Thunell, president of Paramount Television Studios, said. “Thank you to our partners at Paramount+ and 101 Studios for a phenomenal first season. We look forward to bringing fans more stories from these unforgettable characters in Season 2.”

Dutton Ranch Season 2 Release Date Info: When Does Dutton Ranch Come Back On?

There is still no official Dutton Ranch Season 2 premiere date. However, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that production is expected to begin early next year. Reilly told THR in July, “We’re slated to start early 2027 to film. But the room starts up pretty quick. I think we’re going to be very much involved in the room, so the next sort of six months is all about writing it.”

If production follows that schedule, fans can hope to see Dutton Ranch Season 2 premiere in 2027 rather than 2028. More details are expected as filming and writing progress.

Is Cole Hauser Leaving Dutton Ranch? And Who’s Dutton Ranch‘s Showrunner?

Recent rumors about tensions between Hauser and Sheridan have prompted speculation that Cole Hauser could leave Dutton Ranch before Season 2. However, there is currently no indication that either Rip or Hauser is departing the series. The Yellowstone spin-off was created to continue the stories of Beth, Rip, and Carter, and Hauser also serves as an executive producer. For now, fans should not expect to say goodbye to Beth’s partner in crime.

When Dutton Ranch does return, it will have a new showrunner. Benjamin Cavell joined the series ahead of Season 2, following the departure of Season 1 showrunner Chad Feehan just three weeks before the show’s premiere.

Marshals Season 2 Release Date: When Does Marshals Season 2 Start?

Although Dutton Ranch Season 2 still lacks a confirmed premiere date, Sheridan’s other Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, is already back on television.

Marshals Season 2 premiered Sunday, October 4, 2026, on CBS. New episodes air every Sunday on CBS and stream on Paramount+. Here’s what viewers need to know.

Will There Be A Dutton Ranch And Marshals Crossover?

Grimes has confirmed that Beth and Rip will not appear in Marshals Season 2 this fall. Still, with Dutton Ranch expected to begin filming its second season in 2027, there remains a possibility that Kayce could show up on the sister series. That prospect gained momentum after Grimes discussed the possibility of a Dutton family reunion.

“It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point. Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk,” Grimes told TV Insider. “[Kelly and I have] texted about it back and forth a lot, talked about how it’d be fun and necessary for our story arcs, however they’re going to end.”

Grimes’ comments arrived only months after Reilly and Hauser also expressed enthusiasm about the idea. So if you’re hoping for a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover, the possibility is still very much alive.
