Gainesville Woman Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Hit Man

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Italy Rose Ford, 25, was arrested early this morning after allegedly driving her vehicle toward her boyfriend twice in an attempt to hit him.

A Gainesville Police Department officer responded to The Commons, located at 2001 SW 16th Street, at approximately 10:06 p.m. on October 12. The alleged victim told police he had been helping Ford, the mother of his child, move into a new apartment. According to his account, the pair argued earlier in the day before the dispute intensified that evening. He said Ford threw her cellphone at him but missed. After he picked it up and returned it, she allegedly threw it again, striking him in the stomach.

The man told police he decided to leave, but Ford followed him to her vehicle and allegedly drove toward him as he was leaving the property. He said he had to jump onto the grass to “dodge” the vehicle. After driving roughly 200 feet down the street, Ford allegedly turned around and drove toward him a second time. The victim said he ran onto the grass and took cover behind rocks because he feared being struck. He reportedly showed the officer video that supported his account of the encounter.

After being read her Miranda rights, Ford declined to speak with the officer.

Ford faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of domestic battery. She has no prior criminal history. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set her bail at $90,000 and ordered her to wear a GPS monitor.
