A 15-year-old girl allegedly escaped from a Baltimore basement after a rideshare driver kidnapped, assaulted and stabbed her, striking him with a fire extinguisher before fleeing to safety.
Abubakarr Barrie, 23, allegedly picked up the teenager in an unlicensed cab outside her sister’s home last Thursday after she accepted a ride, according to charging documents obtained by People.
The girl told police she asked Barrie to take her to a restaurant in Baltimore. Instead, he allegedly drove in the opposite direction, the documents state.
When she questioned the driver about the route, Barrie “immediately became violent” and allegedly placed her in a headlock, according to the charging papers.
He then allegedly brought her to his Baltimore home and pulled her into a basement room, where he told her to put down her phone and remain silent, the documents say.
Barrie allegedly attacked the teenager there, tearing off her clothing and stabbing her, according to investigators.

The girl fought back by hitting Barrie with a fire extinguisher before escaping from the house.
Bleeding and without clothing, she ran to a neighbor’s home and knocked on the door. The neighbor gave her a phone so she could contact emergency responders and her mother, court records state.
The teenager was taken to a local hospital, where doctors treated her for five stab wounds and a collapsed lung, authorities told WBFF.
Investigators later located Barrie using information provided by the girl. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault, according to the outlet.
A judge denied Barrie bond during a hearing Monday. He is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 25.
It was not immediately clear whether Barrie had an attorney available to comment on the allegations.
