A group of Halloween thieves turned trick-or-treating into a frightening ordeal for children in an Oregon community.
Masked suspects reportedly terrorized trick-or-treaters in Lincoln City by forcibly taking candy bags from children on Halloween, according to police.
The suspects wore black clothing and ski masks as they moved among costumed children and allegedly snatched their treats, the Lincoln City Police Department said.
Police said they received multiple reports from residents who described a group “forcibly stealing candy baskets from children who are trick-or-treating.” The department shared the warning in a statement on Facebook.
“They came and asked my daughter for candy, thankfully her uncle called her inside,” one resident commented. “You’re getting free candy guys, knock it off!!!”

Authorities described the suspects as a “group of males.”
Police did not say how many people were involved or provide an estimated age for the suspected candy thieves.

The group was last seen near Northeast Voyage Avenue and Northeast Port Lane, according to police.
In Oregon, taking property by force is classified as robbery, police said.
The Lincoln City Police Department is asking anyone who may have information about the suspects to contact authorities.
