Hollywood Mourns: ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘Halloween’ Actor Beau Starr Passes Away, Brother Pays Heartfelt Tribute

Beau Starr, a renowned actor best known for his roles in “Halloween” and “Goodfellas,” has passed away at the age of 81. His passing, attributed to natural causes, occurred on Friday, April 24, as confirmed by his brother.

Mike Starr, Beau’s younger sibling and fellow actor, shared the news with TMZ. He expressed deep admiration for Beau, describing him as both unique and special, and highlighted the significant impact Beau had on his life. Mike emphasized that Beau played a pivotal role in raising him, alongside their parents and other siblings. Beau Starr gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Henry Hill’s father in Martin Scorsese’s acclaimed film, “Goodfellas.” Following the sad news, Christopher Serrone, who portrayed the young Henry Hill in the film, paid homage to his co-star with a heartfelt tribute.

On Instagram, Christopher expressed his sorrow: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the very sad passing of Beau Starr. @mikestarractor asked me to share this news.”

He continued, “Beau lived a rich and fulfilling life. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor, and a former NFL/CFL player. Please join me in remembering this remarkable man. RIP.”

Fans also offered their condolences and memories in response. One admirer remarked, “He was a fantastic actor. His scene in ‘Goodfellas’ is unforgettable, and he was also impressive in ‘Halloween 4-5.’ May he rest in peace.”

Another added: “Deepest sympathy to @mikestarractor from the UK. Much respected. One of those Actors who you just enjoy when they are on screen.”

As a third said: “He was a great actor & good man in person. Very sad to read this news. I am sorry for his family loss.”

Beau was a sports star before landing jobs in showbiz. He spent several years on the New York Jets practice squad in the late 1960s and two seasons in the Canadian Football League before getting a job in the entertainment industry.

His acting career began on Bizarre, a half-hour sketch comedy show which starred Bob Einstein.

He grabbed his first film appearance in the 1982 movie Hanky Panky starring Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner before going on to star in the Halloween franchise as Sheriff Ben Meeker.

Beau also had a long-running role on Canadian crime comedy-drama, Due South. He appeared in 66 episodes from 1994 to 1999.
