Olivia Jane Cockburn (born March 10, 1984), known professionally as Olivia Wilde, is an American actress and filmmaker. She played Remy “Thirteen” Hadley on the medical-drama television series House (2007–2012), and has appeared in the films Tron: Legacy (2010), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013), and The Lazarus Effect (2015). Wilde made her Broadway debut in 2017, playing Julia in 1984. In 2019, she directed her first film, the teen comedy Booksmart, for which she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. Wilde’s second feature as director, Don’t Worry Darling, was released in 2022
Education
She graduated in 2002 after attending Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. In order to commemorate the writers in her family, many of whom used pen names, Wilde began using her last name in high school, deriving it from the Irish poet Oscar Wilde. She got accepted to Bard College but three times postponed starting because she wanted to pursue acting. Later, she pursued her studies in Dublin’s Gaiety School of Acting. Wilde’s family briefly had a home in Guilford, Vermont.
Parents
On March 10, 1984, Olivia Jane Cockburn gave birth to Wilde in New York City. She spent her summers at Ardmore in Ireland while growing up and is now a resident of Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown district.
Andrew Cockburn, the father of Wilde, is a British journalist who was raised in Ireland after being born in the Willesden neighborhood of London. Leslie Cockburn (née Redlich), her mother, is an American journalist and producer for 60 Minutes. She has a brother who is nine years younger and a sister who is five years older. Her aunt Sarah Caudwell was a writer, and her grandfather, the British novelist Claud Cockburn, and his sons Alexander and Patrick were all journalists. Christopher Hitchens, a writer, looked after Wilde when the Cockburn family lived in Washington, D.C.
Husband And Children
Wilde married Italian filmmaker and musician Tao Ruspoli, a member of the Ruspoli family, on June 7, 2003, when she was 19 years old. On a school bus in Washington, Virginia, they were married in front of just two witnesses. She later said that the covert marriage took place in an abandoned school bus because it was the only location where they could be totally alone. She and Ruspoli made their separation announcement on February 8, 2011. On March 3, 2011, Wilde formally requested a divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable disagreements.” On September 29, 2011, the divorce became legally binding. Wilde did not ask for spousal support, and they settled their property disputes in private.

In November 2011, Wilde started dating Jason Sudeikis, an American comedian and actor. In January 2013, they got engaged. The pair has two kids: a daughter who was born in 2016 and a son who was born in 2014. The romance between Sudeikis and Wilde was over in November. While giving a presentation of Don’t Worry, Darling at CinemaCon 2022, Wilde received public service of court documents pertaining to child custody.
Wilde and Harry Styles met while Don’t Worry Darling was being filmed, and they started dating in January 2021. In November 2022, their relationship came to an end.
