GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alex Dixon Boatwright, aged 35, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison followed by a decade of sexual offender probation after entering a plea of nolo contendere to nine charges of possessing child pornography.
On November 5, 2024, Google alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with a CyberTip, revealing 60 videos and two images classified as child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These disturbing files were uploaded to a Google account under the name “Alex Boatwright” from June 2021 to October 2024 and remained on the account’s Google Drive when the CyberTip was reported. The Gainesville Police Department spearheaded the investigation.
The investigation traced the IP addresses linked to the CyberTip back to Boatwright’s residence and mobile phone. His personal details, including his name and phone number, were tied to the Google account in question, leading to his arrest in August 2025. For further details on the investigation, click here.
As per the plea agreement, the charges Boatwright faced could have led to a maximum of 60 years behind bars.
Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard sentenced Boatwright to three consecutive terms of five years, five years, and two years (along with four concurrent five-year sentences and two concurrent two-year sentences), for a total of 12 years, with credit for 294 days served. Boatwright will serve 10 years of sexual offender probation after he is released from prison.
