GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Brendan Daniel Dinkins, 28, has been sentenced to five years in state prison, followed by an additional five years of sexual offender probation, after pleading no contest to ten charges of transmitting explicit images to a minor.
Dinkins was taken into custody on July 31, 2025, following revelations made by the victim to a Gainesville Police Department officer. The victim reported that her interactions with Dinkins began in the summer of 2024. She revealed that Dinkins had solicited nude images from her, sent her explicit photos of himself, and frequently requested to meet her for sexual encounters, although she never complied with his requests. She approached the authorities after Dinkins blocked her on Snapchat, fearing he might distribute her nude images.
On the day of his arrest, a detective visited Dinkins’s residence, where he agreed to a discussion. During this conversation, Dinkins acknowledged his involvement with the victim but denied having shared or exposed her images. He admitted to previously possessing partially nude images of the victim but claimed they were no longer in his possession.
With Dinkins’s consent, a search of his cellphone was conducted. The detective uncovered 19 sexually explicit images and videos that had been sent to the victim via Snapchat, dating back to September 2024. Dinkins admitted to exchanging sexually explicit content with the victim throughout the majority of their communication.
Dinkins was originally charged with 19 counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device, and prosecutors later amended the charges to 15 counts of transmission of material harmful to a minor and three counts of transmitting obscene material to a minor out of state.
On June 8, Dinkins entered a plea of nolo contendere to 10 counts of transmission of material harmful to minors to a minor with an electronic device, and the other charges were dropped as part of the deal.
Judge Susan Wilson Bullard sentenced him to five years in state prison with credit for 314 days served, followed by five years of sexual offender probation; he will also be registered as a sexual offender.
