Jakob Mohr, aged 24, has been detained in Stearns County Jail following his surrender to authorities on charges related to second-degree assault with a firearm and harassment. As per a statement from the Sartell Police Department, officers were dispatched in response to reports of gunfire early on Sunday morning. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, reported that Mohr aggressively followed him in traffic before allegedly pulling alongside and opening fire.

According to local ABC station KSTP, which interviewed Sartell Police Chief Brandon Silgjord and obtained the 911 recording of the incident, the altercation took place around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Dispatchers identified Mohr’s vehicle as a red Chevy Impala, while the victim drove a Dodge truck. Silgjord mentioned that the victim attempted to exit the highway to avoid Mohr’s pursuit, but Mohr continued to follow.

Authorities reported that Mohr tailgated the truck before pulling alongside it and allegedly discharging multiple rounds, one of which struck the victim’s leg. Chief Silgjord conveyed to KSTP, “The initial clue for the driver was the shattering of his windshield, indicating he was under fire.”

Police said Mohr tailgated the Dodge truck then pulled up next to it. Mohr then allegedly fired “multiple” shots, one of which hit the victim in the leg. Silgjord told KSTP, “Initially, he saw his windshield had broken, which was his first indication that he was being shot at.”

The victim is still being treated in the hospital for his injury and is expected to recover. Police said they believed the victim was targeted “due to tensions involving a mutual friend,” but did not provide further details.

Mohr’s vehicle was located at a bar a short time after the alleged shooting. Police said Mohr turned himself in to police before noon on Sunday.

Mohr was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and harassment. He is still in custody at Stearns County Jail. His next court date was not available.
