ORLANDO, Fla. – Sunday marks an important occasion, and we’re here to help you make the most of it!
The first part of Mother’s Day will feature warm and muggy weather, but it will remain mostly dry. If you’re planning outdoor activities with your mom, like a beach visit or brunch in the open air, it’s best to schedule them before noon to avoid any rainfall. As the clock strikes noon, spotty storms are expected to develop near the I-75 corridor and move east-northeast. These scattered showers will persist across Central Florida throughout the afternoon, particularly along the coast where southwest winds meet a mild Atlantic sea breeze.
Some of these storms may reach strong to severe levels, as the area is under a marginal risk for severe weather—a category one on a scale of five.
Be prepared for potential hazards, including frequent lightning, gusty winds reaching 50 mph, and heavy downpours. Fortunately, these storms are anticipated to diminish after sunset.
Looking ahead to Monday, expect a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms and a continued risk of severe weather. The marginal risk extends into Monday due to a cold front approaching northern Florida. Anticipate a comparable movement of showers from the west-southwest to east-northeast, with slightly more widespread coverage as the front progresses toward Central Florida. Temperatures will peak in the low to mid-90s, with heat indices soaring around 100 degrees before the rain provides some relief.
