FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — In a significant development, Florida authorities have turned their attention to Washington state in a long-standing case involving the abduction of an infant nearly two decades ago.
The case involves Bryan Dos Santos Gomes, who was just 28 days old when he was taken from his family in Fort Myers. Recently, investigators have received fresh leads originating from Tacoma, Washington, which could prove crucial in this nearly 20-year-old mystery.

The incident dates back to December 1, 2006, when Maria Ramos Dos Santos and a friend were leaving a doctor’s appointment with their infants in tow. They were reportedly approached by a woman driving a black SUV, who initially requested assistance.
According to detectives, this encounter took a sinister turn when the woman, armed with a knife, forced Maria out of the SUV and sped away with her baby. Despite extensive searches and investigations, the child has remained missing ever since.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) reports that the case is seeing renewed attention and efforts, bringing hope that these new developments from Washington might finally provide answers.
DNA evidence collected at the time, and a cellphone used by the suspect during the abduction, have been submitted for renewed testing.

Police have also created a sketch of the suspect and the vehicle she was driving.
Additionally, NCMEC has released a new age-progression image showing what Bryan might look like today at 18-years-old.
“The Fort Myers Police Department is certain that someone knows where Baby Bryan is,” said detective Rich Harasym. “We ask anyone who may have information that they please contact NCMEC or the Fort Myers Police Department. If you know something, say something. Let’s bring closure to the family of Baby Bryan.”
Anyone with information about this disappearance or the whereabouts of Bryan Dos Santos Gomes should contact NCMEC directly at 1-800-843-5678 or the Fort Myers Police Department at 239-321-7700.
