In Washington County, Tennessee, a recent development has stirred controversy within the educational community. The Board of Education received a formal request from students at David Crockett High School, urging board member Keith Ervin to refrain from attending any of their upcoming significant events. This plea follows an incident during an April 2 board meeting where Ervin made an inappropriate comment to a student.
During the meeting, Ervin was captured on video remarking to a student, “God, you’re hot, you know that? Where do you go to school at?” The student responded that she attended David Crockett High School, to which Ervin replied, “alright” and then appeared to reach over and touch her shoulder. This interaction quickly became a focal point of social media discussions, prompting a backlash that led to the school board formally censuring Ervin on April 8.
In a further response to the incident, the Washington County Commission voted to express no confidence in Ervin during their meeting on Monday night, reflecting the broader community’s concern over his conduct.
