PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A man found himself in handcuffs after allegedly driving under the influence, resulting in an accident that injured a 52-year-old man on Thursday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Honda Accord was heading north on I-275, occupying the inner lane just past 4th Street North.
Meanwhile, a clearly marked Road Ranger Ford F600 truck had come to a stop in the same inner lane of northbound I-275. Due to ongoing construction work, the other three northbound lanes were temporarily closed.
Troopers noted that traffic cones were set up in a visible manner to guide all northbound vehicles into the inside lane.
In addition, advanced warning signs and directional arrow boards were strategically placed to inform drivers about the lane closure ahead. Multiple law enforcement vehicles, with their emergency lights flashing, were stationed within the closed lane area to ensure safety and visibility.
While the Road Ranger was stopped in traffic, troopers said the Honda did not slow or stop upon approach and collided with the truck’s rear.
The Road Ranger’s driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Honda, Cedrick Travon Brown, 32, was arrested for DUI, refusal to submit, driving while license suspended or revoked, and an active felony warrant.
