In St. Petersburg, Florida, the Tampa Bay Rays secured a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday, with Shane McClanahan delivering an impressive pitching performance. Over five innings, McClanahan allowed just one run, scattered four hits, struck out three batters, and issued no walks, improving his season record to 6-2.

The game commenced with a strong start for the Rays as Jonathan Aranda launched a solo homer in the first inning. The Angels responded in the second inning when Jose Siri singled with two outs. He advanced to third on Logan O’Hoppe’s double and later scored on a wild pitch by McClanahan, leveling the score at 1-1.

The Rays reclaimed the lead in the third inning. Aranda and Richie Palacios drew back-to-back walks to start the inning, and Junior Camerino followed with a single to load the bases. Victor Mesa Jr. then stepped up with an RBI single, and Cedric Mullins drew a walk to bring in another run, putting the Rays ahead 3-1.

Despite a solo home run from O’Hoppe in the seventh inning that trimmed the Angels’ deficit to one, Tampa Bay’s bullpen held firm. Bryan Baker closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning, earning his 16th save of the season in 19 opportunities.

O’Hoppe hit a solo homer in the seventh that pulled LA within a run.

Pinch-hitter Ben Williamson singled to drive in a run in the bottom of the inning and stole second base. Taylor Walls walked to load the bases and Yandy Díaz drew an eight-pitch walk that scored Chandler Simpson and made it 5-2.

Camerino and Walls had two hits apiece for the Rays.

Jack Kochanowicz (2-4) allowed three runs and five hits and walked four in 2 1/3 innings.
