CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Effective communication plays a pivotal role for the Parkland softball squad.
“We’re definitely a team you can hear from afar, even from the parking lot,” remarked shortstop Lindsey Muskopf.
This season, the team has strengthened their camaraderie on several extensive road trips, clocking in over 8,000 miles together.
“Our daily dedication is evident,” Muskopf expressed. “Our chemistry is crucial; we genuinely care for one another, which has fueled our achievements.”
Their travels included facing numerous ranked teams, ensuring the Cobras are well-prepared for the postseason challenges.
“Our girls batting averages might not be as high as some teams, but we’ve seen good pitches all year long, so our girls aren’t really afraid of any pitchers they see now because they’ve seen the good ones,” head coach Lenny Sementi said.
Parkland won’t have far to travel more than five or ten minutes from home this weekend as the Cobras get to host the DII Central District Tournament
“It’s nice knowing our fans can come out, our families. It’s not that far away,” freshman pitcher and infielder Lainey Klokkenga said. “People are able to make it, so having everyone backing us up as well as it being here, we know the field, so it’s nice.”
