Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and a prominent Republican figure, has been admitted to the hospital, according to a statement from his spokesperson on Sunday. His condition is critical but stable, as reported by The Hill.
“Mayor Rudy Giuliani is currently hospitalized, remaining in a critical yet stable state. Known for his resilience, Mayor Giuliani has confronted all life challenges with incredible strength, and he is applying that same determination now. We ask for your prayers for America’s Mayor, Rudy Giuliani,” stated Ted Goodman, who represents Giuliani.
Details on the specific cause of Giuliani’s hospitalization have not been disclosed.
Former President Donald Trump expressed his support for Giuliani, who played a key role as an adviser and personal lawyer during Trump’s presidency.
“Our incredible Rudy Giuliani, a true champion and undoubtedly the best mayor New York City has ever had, is in the hospital in critical condition,” Trump shared. “It’s tragic that he has been so mistreated by the radical left, all Democrats—AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They rigged the elections, concocted countless stories, did everything to undermine our nation, and now, look at Rudy. So sad!” wrote President Donald J. Trump.
Guiliani’s lawyer, Joe Cammarata, posted a message of support for the former mayor on the social platform X.
“Pray for @RudyGiuliani. America’s Mayor needs our prayers,” Cammarata said. “Rudy is tough and resilient. He is in critical condition; if anyone can pull through this it’s Rudy. Having the honor of representing him during one of his most difficult times, I saw how strong he really is. Save Rudy!!!”
Giuliani, 81, was disbarred from practicing law in Washington, D.C., and New York for making false claims about the 2020 presidential election. He was also forced to give up his assets to pay the election workers he defamed.
Trump pardoned him last year.
