A South Carolina man, aged 24, finds himself embroiled in serious legal trouble following an alleged domestic incident in Watertown, New York, this past April. The Watertown Police Department has taken Jovan Rhodes of Pinewood, S.C., into custody, laying multiple felony charges against him. These charges include second-degree burglary, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and second-degree harassment.
The allegations are tied to a disturbing event that reportedly unfolded in an apartment on Washington Street on the morning of April 11, shortly before 8:30 a.m. Police reports suggest that Rhodes engaged in a violent altercation involving a 19-year-old woman. According to authorities, Rhodes allegedly donned a ski mask and forcibly removed the woman from her bed.
As the situation escalated, Rhodes is accused of gripping the woman by the shoulders, attempting to restrain her movements. Legal documents further allege that Rhodes threatened the victim’s life, as well as that of her unborn child, compounding the severity of the situation.
In addition, Rhodes is suspected of repeatedly pushing the woman against a wall, actions that purportedly left her with visible scratches and bruises on her neck. These distressing details paint a grim picture of the incident, underscoring the serious nature of the charges he faces.
Rhodes is also of pushing the alleged victim against the wall multiple times, which caused scratches and bruises on her neck.
He was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday night and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail while awaiting arraignment in Jefferson County CAP Court.
