TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Duke Energy Florida customers will benefit from decreased bills until the end of September.
The company has introduced its third rate cut of the year, effective from June through September, resulting in a reduction of around $50, or 25%, in residential customer bills.
“We understand that expenses such as housing, groceries, and energy are on the rise, impacting family budgets. It’s crucial for us to deliver safe and reliable energy at the most affordable rates,” stated Melissa Seixas, state president of Duke Energy Florida. “This marks the third rate cut for our clients in 2026, highlighting our dedication to providing meaningful financial relief and positively impacting their daily lives.”
Throughout 2026, the cumulative rate reductions amount to approximately $50.
- Feb. 2026: around a $33 decrease from the early removal of the storm cost recovery charge associated with the response to hurricanes Debby, Helena, and Milton.
- March 2026: around a $11 decrease instituted by the company every March through November to help customers save money during times when energy use is typically higher.
- June 2026: around a $6 decrease reflecting the difference between the storm cost recovery amount collected and the actual amount incurred by the company.
The total rate reductions in 2026 are around $50.
The rate reduction lowers the bill for every 1,000 kilowatt-hours of energy used compared to January.
