Brazen Bronx Heist: Thief Snatches Motorized Wheelchair for Unusual Slow-Speed Getaway in NYC

That was quite the wheelie misjudgment.

A brazen thief made off with an expensive motorized wheelchair from a New York City building, casually taking the seat and cruising away in a slow-motion escape, as revealed by astonishing surveillance footage.

The police are currently on the lookout for this audacious individual, who is accused of entering an apartment complex at 888 Grand Concourse in the Bronx around 2:11 a.m. on April 21, and absconding with a $5,000 wheelchair that had been parked near the lobby, as reported by the NYPD.

The brazen bandit who allegedly wandered into an apartment building at 888 Grand Concourse in the Bronx around 2:11 a.m. on April 21 and rode off on a $5,000 wheelchair.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect, dressed in black pants, a blue sweatshirt, a black vest, carrying a black backpack, and donning a blue and white winter hat, entering the building and pulling the motorized wheelchair out from under a staircase.

The video then captures him settling into the wheelchair and steering it towards the lobby, making his unconventional getaway.

Police said the alleged thief fled on the power chair and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him.
