Trump Unveils Bold Strategy to Slash Soaring Beef Prices, Offering Families Relief

President Donald Trump announced a promising initiative aimed at reducing the price of ground beef by 25%, addressing consumer concerns over rising meat costs.

WASHINGTON — President Trump unveiled a strategic plan designed to cut ground beef prices, a move he claims will benefit American households across the nation.

In a post shared on Truth Social on Friday, Aug. 21, Trump detailed his administration’s new policy allowing greater imports of beef into the U.S. while avoiding the hikes in tariff rates that typically apply.

According to Trump, this agreement could lead to up to 300,000 metric tons of ground beef entering the United States over the next three months without triggering the usual “out of quota” tariff increases.

The president emphasized that this import strategy aims to sell this beef at a 25% discount compared to current market prices, promising significant savings for American consumers.

Trump did not say who the deal was with or what countries the beef would be imported from. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for more details.

An out-of-quota tariff is a higher tax that goes into effect once a certain quantity of that product enters the U.S.

Trump said the agreement would help rebuild the U.S. beef herd and ultimately help American ranchers. But the American cattle industry has in the past balked at Trump’s plans to import more foreign beef, such as his effort in 2025 to bring in more beef from Argentina.
