Federal Agents Join Search for Missing California Grandpa Tied to Crypto Millions

0

The FBI has intensified efforts in the search for a missing Southern California grandfather, turning the case into a kidnapping investigation. This development is intertwined with a complex network of fraud, impersonation, and the suspected targeting of cryptocurrency assets.

Nai Ping Hou, aged 74, went missing in March 2025 from his home in Rancho Cucamonga, with his disappearance officially reported weeks later on May 4.

Federal authorities have raised suspicions of foul play, especially since Hou’s bank accounts were drained prior to the official notification of his disappearance.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department initially categorized the situation as a suspicious disappearance. However, new evidence has led detectives to believe it may involve an abduction.

Hou’s son, Wen Hou, recounted that the last time he saw his father was during a fishing trip in March, just days before he vanished.

“He was in a very good mood,” Wen Hou told KTLA. “He caught a lot of fish. His friends were there, too. He was very happy.”

But weeks later, subtle changes raised alarm.

“[Always saying] he’s tired or he’ll call me later, just reasons that were strange,” he said. “He had very short responses and didn’t share photos anymore.”

Wen Hou said the moment it truly set in came when his father stopped answering calls altogether and sent an unusually cold message on his birthday.

“It’s surreal to think someone could be impersonating my dad through text,” he previously told KABC.

The family said that’s when they realized something was seriously wrong and grew deeply concerned for his safety.

When friends went to check on Hou’s home in early May, they found it had been completely cleared out.

“Something really bizarre is going on,” Wen Hou said. “The place was completely cleared out. No people, no vehicles, not even garbage left behind.”

Investigators later confirmed “extensive fraudulent activity” in Hou’s bank accounts around the time of his disappearance. More than $1 million was drained through unauthorized transactions, including purchases of gold and cryptocurrency.

“His money was also gone,” Wen Hou said. “Funds were being transferred out to purchase gold online. He’s not tech-savvy at all, so I don’t know how he could’ve done any of that himself.”

Authorities say Hou’s vehicles were also sold and there was an apparent attempt to rent out his home.

Hou’s wife was out of the country visiting family in China at the time he vanished and received unusual messages from his phone, including one suggesting she delay returning home.

While investigators have not confirmed a motive, the family has told KABC they fear Hou may have been targeted because of their financial success in cryptocurrency. Wen Hou is a hedge fund executive who has invested heavily in the space.

“I miss him dearly,” Wen Hou said. “He’s always been a guiding presence in my life.”

“We’re really worried, and we really want my dad back,” he added.

Hou is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 170 pounds, with dark hair and a birthmark on his upper left shoulder. He also has a surgery scar on his lower back. He has not been seen or heard from since March 2025.

Investigators are also seeking information about a silver Toyota Yaris believed to be connected to the case.

The Hou family has launched a dedicated website to raise awareness, share photos and collect tips. The site includes a video message in which Wen Hou makes an emotional plea for his father’s safe return.

A reward of up to $250,000 is being offered for information leading to Hou’s safe return or the arrest of those responsible.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department or the FBI.

Fetterman Criticizes TDS Leadership While Supporting Trump’s Ballroom Decision

0

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Senator John Fetterman issued a striking critique of his own Democratic Party, urging members to abandon what he referred to as ‘TDS’ and support President Trump’s plan for a White House ballroom.

Fetterman’s comments emerged following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, an event he attended.

“The current leader of the Democratic Party is suffering from TDS,” remarked the Pennsylvania senator, as he spoke about the so-called ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’ He emphasized, “Our nation needs and deserves this ballroom.”

The term ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ has been popularized by Trump supporters to describe what they perceive as an overly intense and irrational opposition to the former president.

House Speaker Mike Johnson also weighed in, expressing agreement with Fetterman’s stance and calling for unity after the attack during a media appearance on Monday morning.

‘After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these,’ Fetterman advocated.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner is an annual Washington, DC event put on by the White House Correspondents’ Association, not by the White House itself.

The dinner has grown to over 2,600 attendees in the over 100 years since the first event in 1921. Moving the dinner to a venue other than the Hilton would have to be approved by the Association, and is not a decision made solely by the White House.

President Trump told NBC in a 2025 interview that the new ballroom currently under construction would have a capacity for approximately 900 guests.

document from the National Capital Planning Commission presented in March of this year notes that the approximately 22,000 square-foot ballroom ‘is designed to accommodate approximately a thousand seated guests at a formal dinner.’

Speaking with the Daily Mail on Monday, Fetterman added that ‘we just need to put our respective biases away, and for me this, this is before the country’s interest not even the party’s interest,’ he said of the ballroom.

‘Trump won’t even be President to use the facility,’ he noted, referencing current projected construction timelines, before adding that ‘it’s about the facility that will be used for countless presidents after that.’

President Donald Trump’s $400 million White House ballroom project was temporarily halted at the start of April by a federal judge.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation sued the Trump administration following the destruction last autumn of the White House’s East Wing, arguing that Trump required Congressional approval before making such sweeping changes to the building.

Fetterman also noted that he has voted multiple times to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees the Secret Service.

The House has passed a comprehensive DHS funding package, but the Senate has repeatedly failed to follow suit despite Republican efforts – the bill requires a 60-vote threshold to pass. Fetterman also joined New Mexico’s Martin Heinrich in crossing party lines to back the nomination of DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, confirmed 54-45 in March.

On the wider security failings laid bare on Saturday night, Fetterman told the Daily Mail: ‘Imagine if it was Iran, imagine if this was some organization with some resources,’ rather than the seemingly lone gunman who struck that evening.

Cole Tomas Allen, 31, a teacher from Torrance, California, was caught on camera attempting to bolt past a security checkpoint armed with a shotgun, a handgun and several knives.

He exchanged fire with Secret Service agents before being tackled and arrested. One agent was struck in his bulletproof vest and is expected to recover. Nobody else was hurt.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner – the annual black-tie gala uniting politicians and journalists – had barely begun when shots rang out and the Secret Service sprang into action.

Trump later released surveillance footage showing Allen, dressed in black, sprinting through the hotel gun in hand before being rushed by armed guards.

Journalists inside the room photographed top administration officials being hurried to safety.

Video showed Vice President JD Vance being frantically escorted off stage, while Trump and Melania ducked for cover before agents pulled the President away. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr and his wife Cheryl Hines were pictured running in a crouch, with Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and his wife Katie Miller close behind. Speaker Johnson was also briskly escorted out.

Within an hour, Trump addressed reporters at a West Wing briefing. ‘It’s always shocking when something like this happens,’ he said.

‘I heard a noise and kinda thought it was a tray going down.’ He added that Melania had immediately recognised it as a ‘bad noise’ and that it had been ‘a rather traumatic experience for her.’ ‘Melania was very cognizant,’ he said – and shared her fear for his safety given the multiple assassination attempts he has survived.

Federal prosecutors charged Allen with three federal crimes on Monday, including the attempted assassination of the President.

He faces up to 20 years on the assault charge; the firearm counts carry a mandatory minimum of ten years and could extend to life imprisonment, depending on whether the weapon was discharged and the severity of the underlying offence.

Tragic Forewarning: NYC Deli Worker Predicted Rising Violence Before Fatal Shooting

0

A New York City deli worker, who had previously voiced concerns about the surge in violence impacting small businesses, was tragically shot and killed while on the job. Abdul Saleh, 28, became the latest casualty over the weekend during a late-night altercation that extended beyond the confines of his family’s store in Alphabet City.

Saleh’s untimely death occurred nearly a year after he spoke with WABC-TV News about the implementation of “panic buttons” designed to safeguard bodega workers from armed criminals. During the May 2025 interview, Saleh poignantly expressed his concerns, stating, “People get shot, killed. Sometimes you get robbed and the police never respond quick, come three or four hours late.”

This interview coincided with the United Bodega Association’s announcement of a $1.6 million initiative to equip 500 city stores with panic buttons, a response to a surge of violent crimes at delis and bodegas, including a series of deadly incidents in The Bronx earlier that year.

“People get shot, killed,” Saleh told the local station in May 2025. “Sometimes you get robbed and the police never respond quick, come three or four hours late.”

The interview came as the United Bodega Association business group announced a $1.6 million program to install panic buttons at 500 city stores amid a spate of violent crimes at delis and bodegas, including a series of fatal incidents in The Bronx earlier that year.

The buttons would bypass the traditional 911 system and alert NYPD central command directly.

It is not known if there was a panic button at Sal’s Deli and Grocery, at East 13th Street and Avenue B, where Saleh — a father of two young children — was working when a dispute erupted shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and spilled out onto the sidewalk.

The scuffle turned deadly when someone fired off shots, striking the bodega clerk in the torso and mortally wounding him.

Law enforcement sources told The Post that the alleged gunman, also 28, was wounded when one of the bullets ricocheted and struck him.

He was taken to a hospital with non-fatal injuries.

Police have not filed charges in the case.

Gainesville Resident Faces Federal Indictment for Drug Trafficking: Latest Updates

0

Official Statement from the U.S. Attorney, Northern District of Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A federal indictment has been issued against 27-year-old Trai Williams of Gainesville for allegedly possessing controlled substances with the intent to distribute. This announcement was made by John P. Heekin, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Williams recently stood before the United States Magistrate Judge Midori A. Lowry in Gainesville for his arraignment. His jury trial is slated for May 27, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and will be presided over by Chief District Court Judge Allen C. Winsor in Gainesville.

Should Williams be found guilty, he faces a potential sentence ranging from 10 years to life in prison.

The investigation was a collaborative effort involving the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and the Gainesville Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner is leading the prosecution.

An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.

Is America Truly United? Surprising New Poll Data Reveals Deep Divisions

0

Isn’t the United States meant to embody unity?

While our country’s name signifies the coalition of 50 states into one republic, it doesn’t automatically imply harmony among the people. However, shouldn’t it? Ideally, yes, but unfortunately, that isn’t the current reality.

Recent findings from an Issues & Insights (I&I)/TIPP poll reveal a growing divide, particularly noticeable on the political left.

Here’s what the data suggests:

When discussing unity through a political lens, the party in power seems to significantly influence perceptions of unity.

From this, I&I/TIPP creates a national Unity Index, which allows for comparisons over time.

What is it saying? Well, for one, Americans over the past five years or so have never been unified, even though there have been times the Unity Index has trended up.

Indeed, the Unity Index has never breached the neutral 50 level in the past half-decade. In August of last year, not too long after Donald Trump took office, it briefly touched 40.8, its all-time high. But since then, it has dropped back to April’s current reading of 32.1.

While that might seem dramatic, it’s in fact in keeping with the long-trend range for the index, as the chart below shows.

Here’s that chart:

Turns out that if you talk about unity on a partisan basis, it seems to make a big difference as to who’s in charge:

As the chart below plainly shows, Democrats and Republicans essentially swapped positions on unity as they swapped presidential parties.

During the Biden years, Democrats bounced between a reading of just over 30 to as high as 55; today, they’re at 23.5, and haven’t been above 35 during Trump’s second term.

Republicans reached a giddy high 57.2 in August of last year; today they’re at 44.4.

For independents, it’s very much a “un-unified” feel for the entire half-decade of unity readings.

They’ve been above 30 only twice, once in July 2024, following Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate with Trump, and again in June 2025, as fears of a U.S.-China trade war subsided. But today, indie and third-party voters are at 26.4, just barely higher than the Dems.

And here’s that chart:

So, the question becomes, “Why?” Well, in the light of current events, a more apt question about this increasing feeling of disunity might be “How could it not?”

Cole Allen Faces Charges in Trump Assassination Attempt Following WHCA Dinner Shooting: First Court Appearance Update

0

The individual accused of the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner made his first appearance in federal court on Monday. This appearance marked the initial occasion for the defendant to hear the charges that prosecutors have brought against him.

Cole Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California, allegedly entered the Washington Hilton armed with several weapons. His intent, according to the accusations, was to breach the ballroom where President Donald Trump was present, surrounded by Cabinet members and numerous journalists on Saturday night.

During his court appearance on Monday, Allen donned a blue prison jumpsuit as he faced serious charges. These include attempting to assassinate the President of the United States, discharging a firearm during a violent crime, and transporting a weapon across state lines, as stated by the Department of Justice.

As of now, Allen has not entered a plea, and he remains in custody.

Monday’s court appearance is separate from Cole’s arraignment, with the judge scheduling a detention hearing for April 30 and a preliminary hearing for May 11.

Allen is accused of traveling by train from California to Washington, D.C., while making one stop in Chicago, and checking into the hotel just one day before the planned event.

Shortly before the alleged shooting, authorities said Allen sent a written manifesto to members of his family, outlining his intent to target Trump and other Cabinet officials.

Within 30 minutes of the gala starting, Allen allegedly stormed the hotel lobby, equipped with a shotgun, handgun and knives, and breached security barricades that had been erected just one floor above the VIP-filled International Ballroom.

One Secret Service agent was struck by gunfire in a ballistic vest, and Allen was subsequently tackled by officers and taken into custody.

Allen was not injured, but was transported to a hospital to be evaluated. The Secret Service agent was also taken to receive medical treatment and is recovering.

The chaos was heard from inside the packed ballroom, with the 2,300 attendees taking cover under their tables as Trump and Vice President JD Vance were whisked away by security.

Approximately one hour later, Trump announced that law enforcement had asked attendees to evacuate the building, which was consistent with protocol, adding the event would be rescheduled within 30 days.

After the shooting, Allen’s brother contacted the New London Police Department in Connecticut to report receiving his brother’s alleged manifesto.

The police said in a statement they were contacted at 10:49 p.m. by someone who wanted to share information related to it, and the department said it then immediately alerted federal law enforcement, the Associated Press reported.

Allen faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted on the attempted assassination charge, with the two firearms charges carrying a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison.

Fox News Digital reached out to Allen’s defense team and federal prosecutors for comment.

Zoe Kravitz Unveils Stunning $1 Million Diamond Ring Gifted by Harry Styles

0

Zoe Kravitz was spotted in New York City on Monday, showcasing a dazzling new diamond engagement ring gifted to her by Harry Styles.

The 37-year-old actress proudly displayed the stunning ring on her left hand as she checked her phone, sporting a cap emblazoned with the words “Boy Next Door.” There was no mistaking the impressive piece of jewelry for anything but an engagement ring.

The Daily Mail has discovered that this exquisite piece comes with a hefty price tag for the former One Direction star.

“Zoe’s ring features a 10-carat oval diamond set in yellow gold,” revealed Chris from The Diamond Bank in Los Angeles to the Daily Mail. “It appears to be custom-made, likely costing around $1 million. The bezel setting is particularly trendy right now.”

This public appearance coincides with the Daily Mail uncovering intriguing new details about the unexpected proposal.

Kravitz has told friends that she said yes right away to Styles’ ‘old-fashioned, romantic’ proposal because she is ‘madly in love with him.’ The insider added she appreciates that the rock star ‘supports her in a beautiful, kind way.’

PageSix reported last week that the lovebirds are set to tie the knot with a source sharing that Styles ‘is completely smitten’ with her.

‘He would jump off a cliff for her,’ the insider said. Meanwhile, Kravitz is said to be ‘on cloud nine.’

The source added that ‘no one in their circle is surprised’ about the engagement.

The pair recently fueled rumors of an engagement after Kravitz was pictured flashing a large diamond ring on her finger last week.

This marks Styles’ first engagement. Kravitz was previously married to actor Karl Glusman, 38. The pair wed in 2019 before divorcing in 2021.

She was also engaged to actor Channing Tatum, 45, but they split in October 2024 after three years together.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Styles and Kravitz for comment.

In December last year, Kravitz wore the same ring on her left hand, first sparking speculation they had taken their relationship to the next level.

In snaps taken on Tuesday, Styles visited Kravitz at her hotel in Hampstead in the capital, and the pair held hands on their coffee date.

Styles and Kravitz were first spotted holding hands last August, then a month later they were pictured out with her father Lenny Kravitz, suggesting their relationship was getting serious.

Despite their best attempts to keep the relationship out of the spotlight, the couple have since been observed on a number of date nights from London and Rome to Brooklyn.

Styles recently said he had to have a ‘real, honest conversation’ with himself as to where he saw himself in five years after watching three of his closest friends get married.

The singer spoke about the ‘loneliness’ of fame and how he took a three-year hiatus from music to establish what he really wanted in life.

In an interview on Apple Music’s The Zane Lowe Show, Styles revealed he wants to get married and start a family.

He said: ‘I stop everything, then I get to decide what I want to bring back in. Like what are really the things that I want in my life?

‘If you’re like touring all the time and you’re doing this all the time and all these things, there’s no space to really choose.

‘I think I had a real honest conversation with myself about, okay, in five years, what do I want my life to look like? And then how do I make changes to aim at that? I don’t want to be the guy who’s on his own but was like, oh, I really did it.

‘I want to be fulfilled and I want to be in great relationships with people. I want to have great friendships with people. I want a family. I want these things. It just allowed me to go like, okay, what do I have to do to create space to allow these things to happen? I can’t just expect them to just happen to me.’

Styles went on to talk the importance of building a future with the ‘right person’.

‘They hold you accountable to the person that they know you want to be. I think accepting flaws and stuff is like, yes, having understanding is wonderful, but you know that I want to be better than that.

This marks Styles' first engagement. Kravitz, meanwhile, was previously married to actor Karl Glusman, 38. The pair wed in 2019 before divorcing in 2021

‘So when you challenge me on something. It’s a gift to me, actually,’ he said.

After the couple spent the holidays together, including Christmas in his hometown of Cheshire, England, an insider told Page Six that the actress believed the pop superstar was her ‘soulmate.’

The source added that Kravitz, whose mother is actress Lisa Bonet, ‘feels different’ about Styles than her former partners, including ex husband Glusman and ex fiance Tatum.

Previously, an insider told the outlet that ‘Harry wouldn’t have gone public with Zoe if it wasn’t anything.’

In 2024, Kravitz called off her engagement from Tatum after three years of dating. At the time, a source told People, ‘The split is amicable. They realized they’re at different stages in life.’ Another said they ‘haven’t been on the same page and grew apart’.

Meanwhile, Styles was previously linked to Olivia Wilde, 42, from January 2021 until November 2022 after they met on the set of her film Don’t Worry Darling. He has also been linked to Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner and Taylor Russell.

Two months prior to his romance with Kravitz, Styles made headlines when he was photographed sharing a steamy kiss with producer Ella Kenny at Glastonbury Festival and, just weeks later, appeared in Rome spending time with Belgian-Congolese interior architect and designer Kim Mupangilai.
