David Foster’s Surprising Inheritance Plans for His Children Revealed

David Foster stands as a towering figure in the music industry, yet financial windfalls don’t seem to be in the cards for his children. Sara Foster, one of Foster’s six children, clarified on an episode of “The Morgan Stewart Podcast” that despite her father’s success, she and her siblings haven’t been the beneficiaries of significant financial support.

Foster, known for composing timeless ballads such as “All By Myself,” “My Heart Will Go On,” “You Raise Me Up,” and “Never Enough,” has certainly amassed considerable wealth over his career. With a net worth estimated at $150 million by Celebrity Net Worth, one might expect an opulent lifestyle for his family. However, as Sara mentioned during the podcast, her father has a substantial number of obligations, including multiple children and former spouses.

Clearing up misconceptions, Sara remarked, “People think my dad is a billionaire… he is very successful. But my dad has had many wives, he has many children, and we don’t have a trust fund.” Indeed, David Foster’s life has included five marriages, with Yolanda Hadid, one of his notable ex-wives, reportedly receiving nothing in their divorce. Public details about his other separations are scarce. When the time comes to distribute his assets, his children and his much younger wife, Katharine McPhee, will all receive limited portions.

David Foster raised his kids to make their own money

However, regardless of any future inheritance, David Foster’s children are well-prepared to stand on their own. Sara explained on “The Morgan Stewart Podcast” that their upbringing emphasized independence over financial reliance. She expressed gratitude for having a safety net that ensured her basic needs were always met, stating, “It is an absolute privilege to know that you have a safety net which would never put you on the streets.” She proudly attributed her successes to her personal efforts rather than her father’s fortune.

Before her appearance on “The Morgan Stewart Podcast,” Sara, along with her sister Erin, discussed their upbringing on the “Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson” podcast. They acknowledged having a safety net yet revealed that their relationship with their father was sometimes strained, particularly during his time with then-stepsons Brandon and Brody Jenner. The sisters faced criticism for their perceived affluence despite not benefiting directly from their father’s wealth. Erin noted, “We get all sorts of, like, backlash for it, but we don’t actually, like, get the benefits.”

Ultimately, it seems things worked out for the best, because both Sara and Erin are now successful independently of their dad and even have a good relationship with him. That said, let it be known: the Fosters are no nepo babies.

Top Eight Teams Compete in Thrilling World Cup Quarter-Finals

0

An exciting weekend of football is on the horizon with the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Here’s your guide to what’s ahead in these thrilling matches.

Make sure to catch all the action live, completely free, via SBS On Demand.

France v Morocco

This is a moment to savor for future generations.

Making its mark on football history, the last African team standing in the tournament, Morocco, advanced to the quarter-finals with a stunning 3-0 victory over co-hosts Canada. Steering the team with exemplary leadership is captain and elite right back Achraf Hakimi as they prepare to face their former colonizers, France.

Adding another layer of drama, this encounter is a re-match. Morocco first etched their name in history by reaching the quarter-finals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar, marking the first time an Arab country hosted the event. They became the first Arab-speaking nation to reach this stage of the competition.

However, they did one better and advanced to the semi-finals, where they went down 2-0 against France, ultimately finishing fourth in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Les Bleus came achingly close to glory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, coming second to Argentina. This time, France won’t settle until they’ve lifted the Cup.

Star striker and captain Kylian Mbappé has scored seven goals so far this tournament.

His 70th-minute penalty against Paraguay in the Round of 16 sealed France’s spot in the quarter-finals, and put him one goal behind Lionel Messi’s all-time 20-goal record.

France v Morocco: Kick-off 6am AEST Friday 10 July. Watch it live and free on SBS or stream on SBS On Demand.

Spain v Belgium

Spain took down neighbour Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16, sending one of the world’s most decorated footballers, 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo, home from a World Cup for the final time.

La Roja won the Cup in South Africa in 2010, but they scraped through against Portugal with a goal at 90+1 minutes. Can Spain go all the way?

They’ll be taking on an in-form Belgium, fresh from their domination of the USA in their Round of 16 clash.

Their 4-1 win over the World Cup hosts will fill the team with confidence as they prepare for Spain.

But Belgium have never bested their third-place result in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Spain v Belgium: Kick-off 5am AEST Saturday 11 July. Watch it live and for free on SBS or stream it on SBS On Demand.

Norway v England

Norway stunned five-time world champions Brazil with a 2-1 win in the Round of 16, thanks in part to striker Erling Haaland, whose aloof presence on and off the field has turned him into a breakout celebrity of the World Cup.

Or maybe it’s a switch in Norway’s approach to youth sports that’s spurred the Nordic nation into its first-ever World Cup quarter-final.

Norway will face England in the quarter-final, a country they famously once invaded. England have had a shakier run this World Cup, coming from behind to see off Congo DR in the Round of 32.

But their hard-won 3-2 victory against Mexico at the high-altitude Estadio Azteca was a win for the ages and the confidence boost they were looking for.

England v Norway: Kick-off 7am AEST Sunday 12 July. Watch it live and free on SBS or SBS On Demand.

Argentina v Switzerland

Our final quarter-final match-up will see legend Lionel Messi lead Argentina as they chase back-to-back World Cup titles. They’re one of the World Cup’s most successful teams, having won the trophy three times.

The South American side beat Egypt 3-2 in the Round of 16, but their path hasn’t been easy. They struggled against Cape Verde, and again looked down and out when two Egypt goals put the Pharoahs in touching distance of victory.

Switzerland, meanwhile, saw off Colombia in a nail-biting penalty shootout after neither side scored a goal in regular time during their Round of 16 match.

Switzerland have a lot to play for. Their last quarter-final was in 1954, and the side have never won a World Cup. Can they beat Argentina and Messi, the World Cup’s frontrunner for the Golden Boot (awarded to the tournament’s top scorer)?

Argentina v Switzerland: Kick-off 11am AEST Sunday 12 July. Watch it live on SBS or SBS On Demand.

You can watch all 104 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ live, free and exclusive on SBS, SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand.

Tragic Triple Homicide: Alabama Student, Companion, and Dog Found Dead, Motive Still Unclear

0

A tragic incident unfolded at a Brookwood, Alabama home where a University of Alabama student, a friend, and a dog were discovered dead. The bodies were found following a disturbing sight on security cameras, which showed a suspicious individual in the homeowner’s yard.

Jazmine Alexis Bates, aged 22, and her friend, Jose Felix Alvarez-Duenas, 31, became victims of an alleged fatal attack by De’Kendrick Crawford, 24, according to reports from WIAT.

The tragic discovery was made during a police welfare check at the residence, located east of Tuscaloosa. Concerns were raised when Alvarez-Duenas, who worked in a restaurant, failed to respond to repeated phone calls and text messages.

Alvarez-Duenas, a devoted single father to three young children, was taking care of a colleague’s dog while she was traveling outside the United States. Worry set in when the homeowner could no longer reach him, prompting her to review the security footage.

The homeowner’s suspicions were triggered after checking her security cameras, where she observed a suspect loitering on her back porch. This unsettling discovery led to the subsequent call to law enforcement and the grim revelation of the incident.

Brookville police discovered Bates, Alvarez-Duenas and the pooch’s bodies when they arrived at the home.

“Immediately upon opening the front door, there was a deceased male lying on the floor that was identified as the person that was house-sitting for her,” Jack Kennedy, of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told reporters Tuesday, according to the outlet.

Investigators combed through the home, where they found Chicago-native Bates – who worked with Alvarez-Duenas at the restaurant Buffalo Phil’s Wings.

“Upon clearing the residence, they were able to find a second deceased individual, a female,” Kennedy said.  “She was in the back bedroom in a closet.”

Bates, a business administration and management student, was just five months away from graduating.

Crawford bolted to a relative’s apartment in Northport – around 22 miles from Brookwood – and was arrested 10 hours after the restaurant staffers’ bodies were found.

Crawford was caught hiding in the home’s attic.

“After four hours of tactical operations including drones, tear gas, walls and doors being breached and attics being searched with K-9s, yeah, he never gave up. He cared more about himself than the victims,” Kennedy blasted.

Cops were mystified why the two restaurant workers were targeted as the motive behind the shooting is unknown.

“We don’t know why he targeted them,” Kennedy said.

“They were not doing anything wrong. They had done nothing wrong to him. None of his acquaintances know why this occurred.

“Nothing in our investigation has found that these victims in any way contributed to this; the motive is unknown.”

But the homeowner knew the victims as well as Crawford through work, Kennedy said.

Crawford was charged with capital murder of two or more persons – an offense that carries a sentence of death or life imprisonment in Alabama.

Tributes were paid to the two restaurant workers after the tragedy.

“He was the best dad to those babies, always putting their needs first and making sure they felt loved and safe,” Alvarez-Duenas’ friends and family said in a fundraiser.

“He was also the best friend to many, a wonderful son, and a caring brother to his six sisters.

“Felix never met a stranger and would help anyone in any way he could, always offering a hand or a kind word to those in need.”

Juana Gutierrez Salas, Alvarez-Duenas’ sister, told WBMA, “He was always there for anyone however he could be. He was a charismatic light. He was so full of life and love.”

“To know Felix was to love him! He wasn’t easily forgettable. He had a passion for life. He was dependable, responsible, thoughtful and fun to be around.”

The restaurant said Alvarez-Duenas was “one of the hardest-working people you could ever meet” and said Bates “had a bubbly personality that could light up a room.”

“She had so much life ahead of her and her loss is truly heartbreaking,” it said.

Trump’s NATO Speech Gaffes Ignite Dementia Speculation

0

During a NATO summit on Wednesday, Donald Trump made two surprising verbal blunders while speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, sparking renewed concerns over his health.

One notable misstep involved Trump’s incorrect reference to Iran as he discussed America’s anti-missile defense capabilities.

“We had 111 missiles shot by the Islamic Republic of Japan,” he remarked. Without pausing to acknowledge the mistake, Trump continued his speech, focusing on how all of these missiles had been intercepted.

This slip did not go unnoticed, as a pro-Ukraine X account criticized the 80-year-old Trump, suggesting he might be experiencing cognitive decline. Michael MacKay, who holds a PhD from the London School of Economics, took to social media, asserting, “Trump’s dementia is profound.”

Adding to these concerns, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker recently expressed to CNN his belief that Trump might be suffering from a mental disease.

Later, Trump appeared to cross up the presidents of Russia and Ukraine.

While gesturing at Zelensky, Trump directed a question to a reporter at the meeting: ‘Do you have a question for President Putin?’

After a brief moment, Trump seemed to recognize his mistake, but then he appeared to made light of the gaffe.

When a reporter appeared to try to ask Zelensky a question, Trump spoke over him with a slight smile.

‘Do you have a question for President Putin?’ Trump asked again. ‘Yeah, what would you like to ask [Putin]? Because I’m gonna ask him that question.’

Trump said he was making a call with Putin later in the day and continued to insist on a question for the Russian strongman until he got one a few seconds later.

The White House touted Trump’s stamina and fitness when contacted by the Daily Mail.

‘President Trump delivered a marathon, high-energy performance at the NATO summit, holding four separate press availabilities plus a solo press conference and taking unscripted questions from reporters on a wide range of topics,’ White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement.

‘The President commanded every room, gave our allies some much-needed tough love, and left the summit with a stronger NATO and more united free world.’

Trump has faced a slew of medical concerns during his second term after frequently calling into question the health of his predecessor ‘Sleepy’ Joe Biden.

There has been visible swelling in his legs, bruising on his hands, and several instances of appearing to briefly doze off in public.

The White House has attributed the bruising to frequent handshakes and regular aspirin usage (pictured in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22)

What do Trump’s recent public slips say about the qualities we should demand from world leaders?

The White House has said the swelling in Trump’s legs is due to a condition called chronic venous insufficiency, a relatively common circulatory problem in older patients.

The bruising on the President’s hands, which he has at times tried to conceal, has been attributed to regular aspirin usage and frequent handshakes, though bruising has appeared on both of the President’s hands.

Those in the President’s orbit have denied that he struggles to stay awake.

‘I’ve never seen him fall asleep,’ Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a congressional hearing in June, adding that the President often calls him in the wee hours of the morning.

Trump is the oldest person ever elected to the presidency, beating his predecessor Joe Biden by some five months.

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally Shine in ‘Iceboy!’ Musical at Chicago’s Goodman Theatre, Plus Japan House Benefit

0

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago’s own, Nick Offerman, has returned to the Windy City and is wowing audiences at the Goodman Theatre with his performance in “Iceboy!”

Widely celebrated for his comedic roles, Offerman takes on a more serious tone as he speaks to ABC7 about a fundraising event happening Monday. The cause is near and dear to him, benefiting a hidden gem at the University of Illinois.

ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

Taking on the role of the iconic playwright Eugene O’Neill, Offerman shares the stage with his wife, Megan Mullally, who stars alongside him in this musical production.

Originating from Minooka, a town close to Joliet, Offerman is an alumnus of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. It was here that he encountered a transformative experience that left a lasting impression on him.

“Our sensei, Shozo Sato, introduced us to Kabuki theatre and spearheaded the creation of Japan House,” Offerman recounted. “They offer classes in traditional arts like tea ceremonies, black ink painting, and flower arranging. Visiting the tea house is this extraordinary journey. It forces you to set aside life’s distractions, concentrating only on its beauty and simplicity. As you reach the door, you must bow to enter, a gesture that clears your mind, allowing you to embrace the experience afresh,” said Offerman.

Offerman is a master woodworker, learning his skills growing up. He and a team of volunteers created the gazebo at Japan House, honoring all he learned there.

He’s doing a benefit for Japan House this Monday night, July 13, at the Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport.

“I do an evening of songs on the guitar, a lot of laughter, and I talk a lot about my sensei and share some of the lessons,” Offerman said. “It was just wild in the middle of the cornfield of Illinois to have my curiosity and my empathy blown open. As this ignorant farm kid, it just blew me away and opened me up to Japanese culture, and the world, the world is available.”

Doors open at 6 p.m. Monday at the Ramova Theatre on South Halsted for the benefit.

It has even more meaning for Offerman, since his beloved teacher, Shozo Sato, died last year at 91 at his home in Champaign.

Isaac Fayose Criticizes Nigeria’s Justice System: “Petty Thieves Punished While Billion-Dollar Crooks Rewarded

In a provocative video that ignited discussions across social media platforms, well-known influencer Isaac Fayose voiced his strong criticism of corruption and what he sees as an uneven justice system in Nigeria.

Fayose’s video sparked conversation by alleging a stark contrast in how justice is meted out between those accused of minor thefts and individuals suspected of embezzling large amounts of public money. He argued that while the former often face brutal street justice, the latter are paradoxically rewarded with high-status roles.

“Nigeria is the only country where stealing a small item, like bread, Maggi, or rice, can result in immediate and lethal street justice,” he lamented.

Fayose highlighted the frequent instances where alleged minor thieves become victims of vigilante mobs, deprived of the chance to defend themselves in a court of law.

“In contrast, those who embezzle billions often gain celebrity status, gracing the front pages of newspapers,” he pointed out.

Fayose further claimed that influential individuals accused of large-scale corruption are often treated differently.

“They will now look at you and say, ‘Ah, this guy is a good thief, he’s a big thief.’ They will now give you a better, juicy appointment where you can even carry more,” he said sarcastically.

The social commentator also criticised Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts, alleging that enforcement agencies focus more on low-profile offenders than politically exposed persons.

“If you are still sitting down thinking this country will develop, you are deceiving yourself because of corruption,” he stated.

He also alleged that anti-corruption agencies pay more attention to internet fraud suspects than public officials accused of corruption, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

In a sarcastic conclusion, Fayose said, “Whatever you do, try not to be poor, and try not to steal small. Steal big so you can make the headlines and get a juicy position after. God bless Nigeria.”

Concerned Daughter Questions Safety as 82-Year-Old Father Plans Solo 2,000-Mile Drive

0

DEAR ABBY: At 82 years old, my father maintains an independent lifestyle, living alone without assistance. His health, thankfully, remains in relatively good shape, yet he’s beginning to confront the inevitable truth that this won’t be the case indefinitely. Determined to seize the moment, he’s decided that one thing he must do while he still can—at least in his mind—is embark on a solo road trip to visit his sister, who lives across the country.

His routine includes regular short drives lasting about two to three hours, and based on this, he believes a 2,000-mile expedition is achievable if approached in manageable segments spread over several days. In my view, it’s a monumentally poor decision. The risk of fatigue from extended hours on the road is concerning, as is the added pressure of navigating unfamiliar territories. These factors leave me worried about the potential for accidents or him losing his way.

I’ve shared my concerns with him and pointed out that there are safer alternatives. To ease his journey, I even offered to cover his airfare. However, he balks at the thought of handling an airport, which to me seems much simpler than enduring long drives. Additionally, the idea of navigating an unfamiliar rental car at his destination isn’t appealing to him. I proposed accompanying him, yet he plans for an extended stay, and there’s no room for me at my aunt’s place.

Despite my efforts, Dad is determined to make this trip, and my fear is that he may slip away without informing anyone. Given that we live far apart and I lack any legal authority to confiscate his car keys, I’m at a loss. This seems absurd, doesn’t it? — A DISASTER IN OHIO

DEAR SEES: Regardless of our opinions on your father’s plan, the reality is that he intends to proceed. However, this does not preclude you from seeking a role in his journey to provide some comfort and assurances.

Help your father plan and map out his trip. Note what hotels or motels there are along the way and help him make reservations. Then get his promise to call you every evening when he checks in so you can know he is all right. It may take some work on your part, but the reassurance of being able to track his progress would be priceless.

DEAR ABBY: My youngest child (early teens) has a hard time making and keeping friends, but he made a new friend three weeks ago. I have met the mom once, briefly, and mostly texted to discuss timing for plans with my kid and hers.

The mom keeps asking me for money. Our stories are similar, and I’ve filled her in — divorced, single mom, no contact with ex, no support. Most recently, she texted me asking for gas money and additional money to help fund a trip out of state for a funeral. I may live in a nice house, but I have no help in paying for it plus all the other life expenses. I’ve told her as much, but I still get these requests.

I don’t want to be rude to her, but I feel like my next step is to be blunt. However, I don’t want to risk hurting the friendship between the kids. How do I make it clear without doing damage? — DOLLARS AND SENSE

DEAR D & S: Resist the urge to be blunt. Simply tell the woman nicely that you don’t have funds to give her at this time. When she asks again, repeat as necessary.

Maximize Lower-Body Strength at 50+: Hold a Wall Sit This Long to Outperform 90% of Your Peers

Challenge your lower-body strength and endurance with wall sits.

>

Daily walks are a fantastic way to tick the box for cardiovascular exercise and maintain healthy blood pressure. If incorporating regular steps into your day suits your lifestyle, continue doing so. However, research has shown that isometric exercises, such as wall sits, can be almost twice as effective at reducing blood pressure. In addition to managing blood pressure, wall sits offer an array of advantages, including core strengthening, posture enhancement, and fat burning. They’re a comprehensive workout solution!

Ready to take on the challenge? Locate a sturdy wall and hold the wall sit position. If, after reaching your 50s, you can maintain this pose for an extended period, your lower-body strength surpasses 90% of others in your age group.

Why Is the Wall Sit Considered a Useful Benchmark for Evaluating Lower-Body Fitness?

Casey Lee, the owner of Purposeful Strength, LLC, a personalized training facility in Vermont, explains that wall sits fall under “relative strength” exercises. They are a practical measure of lower-body strength.

“Relative strength is when a strength movement is impacted by the size of your body. Shorter vs longer legs…overall height…limb ratio…total body weight…all of these unique body factors play a role in relative strength. Being strong for your body is incredibly important, especially after the age of 50,” Lee tells us.

If You Can Pass These 4 Strength Tests After 45, Your Body Is Ahead of Its Time

What Does a Wall Sit Primarily Measure?

The wall sit is a solid measure of muscular endurance. Because it’s a bodyweight exercise, it gets woven into workouts for time and duration.

“You can absolutely load a wall sit by adding a weight to your lap, but no one is trying to set a one-rep max wall sit; it’s just not a movement that is counted by reps or is safe to load maximally,” points out.

The 6-Minute Chair Routine That Builds Leg Muscle Faster Than Squats After 60

How Strong Wall Sit Performance Translates to Real-World Activities

This exercise translates to many facets of everyday life. Holding a wall sit with proper form means you have strong knees, quads, hips, and glutes.

“These are primary muscles that contribute to balance as well as repetitive movements like going up and down stairs. Having a strong lower body, hands down, is the key success factor in maintaining balance skills as we age,” Lee says.

If You Can Do These 8 Lower-Body Moves, Your Leg Strength Is Elite

What Wall Sit Hold Time Signals “Elite” Lower-Body Power?

Lee breaks down wall sit hold times into the following categories:

  • Less than 30 seconds means you should work on improving total-body strength.
  • 30 to 45 seconds is “a respectable start, but it’s just a start.”
  • 45 to 60 seconds means you have a “solid base of relative strength.”
  • 60 seconds or longer signals you are stronger than 90% of your peers.

“I look at these times from two angles. The first being that the wall sit is a bilateral exercise—both legs are working at the same time—because of this you should be in a position to produce force. The second angle is that when you perform the wall sit you are literally between a rock and a hard spot. The wall being the rock and the floor your feet are pushing into being the hard spot. These two points of contact allow you to wedge tight and push hard,” Lee explains.

Shocking Video Evidence Causes Erika to Exit Charlie Kirk’s Trial

0

The scene unfolded with all the hallmarks of a contemporary drama: a widow, subtly wiping away her tears with a pristine tissue, the unexpected arrival of the president’s son alongside his dazzling new wife, and at the center, a petite figure accused of murder.

However, the second day of the preliminary hearing for Charlie Kirk’s murder in 2025 had its share of absurdity. The proceedings turned so monotonous that four women, who had waited overnight to secure seats in the courtroom, quietly left after just an hour.

The day kicked off with a swarm of cameras encircling the entrance to capture key figures: Donald Trump Jr. and his new wife, Bettina Anderson, Kirk’s widow Erika, his heartbroken parents, and the parents of the accused, Robinson, all trying to evade the relentless lenses as they hurried into the Provo District Courthouse.

Inside, security was tight. The fourth floor had been transformed into a virtual fortress, with floor-to-ceiling windows covered with fabric to ensure privacy for those entering the courtroom.

Snipers were positioned on the rooftop, while teams of heavily armed police officers filled both the lobby and the courtroom, maintaining a tense atmosphere.

Erika herself was flanked by a posse of three heavies, looking small and fragile at their sides.

Reporters covering the hearing were swept into the courtroom first, where, from their perch in the jury box, they were positioned directly next to the defense team and the accused killer Tyler Robinson himself.

Not that the seating arrangements appeared to bother the 23-year-old, who maintained a mask of stony indifference throughout the day as he sat, hunched over the defense desk, in a crumpled gray suit.

Yet there were the odd signs of emotion: rolling his pen through his fingers as a picture purporting to show him positioning himself to strike, his left thumb tracing circles on his thigh as his trans former lover’s name got its first mention, and a quick scratch of his left eye.

As reporters filed out at the end of the day, he offered a brief smirk – the most visible and discernible facial expression he managed in eight hours of testimony.

The real emotion was to be found further back where Erika, dressed in a black satin blouse and matching wide-leg pants, sat in the third row next to Kirk’s visibly distraught parents.

Occasionally dabbing her eyes as she watched frame by frame footage of Robinson’s movements on the day her husband died, it proved all too much at times – with both Erika and his parents fleeing the court room twice in the morning.

Sitting just in front of them, just a few seats away, were Robinson’s parents Matthew and Amber who, like their son, didn’t give much away – stoically facing Judge Tony Graf while chewing gum throughout.

Behind them and to their right was Don Jr, solemn in a navy suit, and new wife Bettina who added a shot of glamour to proceedings in a cream pinstriped suit and black t-shirt.

Although the newlyweds spent the whole of Monday in court, neither made it back after Tuesday’s lunch break – for which both should breathe a sigh of relief.

Although Robinson’s sharp-tongued lead attorney Kathy Nester – last seen mounting an unsuccessful defense of grief author Kouri Richins – took center stage in the morning, the afternoon saw the floor handed to Michael Burt.

Burt, no stranger to a famous case himself having represented parent killer Lyle Menendez during his first trial, took the later hours of the day from high drama to crashing bore.

For more than three painstaking hours, Burt attempted to prove flaws in the DNA testing that identified Robinson, subjecting FBI scientist Amanda Bakker to a tedious barrage of questions and waving best practice manuals written in 1996 at the witness box.

The courtroom, already mostly marked by a hushed silence, descended into a stupor before dapper prosecutor Ryan McBride rapidly wrapped proceedings up with a few quick questions of his own.

Tuesday marked the second day of a week-long preliminary hearing in the murder case.

Robinson faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted, with his defense attorney Nester, 59, attempting to prevent key evidence from being admitted at his pre-trial hearings this week.

Nester is a veteran trial attorney with a number of infamous defendants on her resume, including former polygamous religious leader Lyle Jeffs, synagogue shooter John Earnest and Michael Kirk Moore, who was accused of issuing false Covid vaccine certificates and destroying $28,000 worth of COVID-19 vaccines. The charges against Moore were eventually dropped.

Much of the focus on Tuesday morning was on the testimony of Utah State Bureau of Investigation agent David Hull who said that hours before Kirk was killed, Robinson visited the amphitheater where the influencer was preparing to speak.

Hull claimed that Robinson made contact with several members of the conservative activist’s organization Turning Point USA.

The agent did not testify as to what Robinson said to the organization’s members, but Hull added that Robinson also bought food from Chick-fil-A roughly two hours before Kirk was killed.

Hull also noted that a police officer interacted with the suspect on campus the day after the shooting, amid an intense manhunt for Kirk’s killer.

He said Robinson returned to the UVU campus during the manhunt, but during his conversation with the police officer he set off alarm bells.

Hull said the officer had ‘cop intuition’ about Robinson and wrote down his license plate, which later helped investigators prove that the 23-year-old was on campus that day, he testified.

The bombshell testimony came after prosecutors shared never-before-seen footage allegedly showing Robinson prowling the UVU campus on the day of the shooting.

However, prosecutors hit a hurdle on the first day of the evidence hearings on Monday as Utah District Court Judge Tony Graf rejected surveillance footage put forward by the state, as he said he was ‘concerned’ it had been edited.

The footage had been altered with circles around items of interest and zooms at key moments, which prosecutors said were ‘only added to make it easier to view.’

The early ruling came as the first cop at the scene, Utah Valley University police officer Chris Bagley, also admitted in his testimony that he did not have bodycam footage from the day of Kirk’s assassination to back up his testimony, because his camera ‘ran out of batteries.’

Despite the early challenges in the evidence on Monday, prosecutors only need to convince Judge Graf of probable cause in taking Robinson to trial, a lower bar than the ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ standard needed to ultimately convict him.

Robinson has remained in custody in Utah ever since his arrest 33 hours after Kirk was killed.

Prosecutors say they have compiled a slew of evidence in that time, including DNA linking Robinson to the murder weapon, witness statements and further surveillance tying him to the scene.

They are also expected to cite messages Robinson allegedly sent his transgender partner Lance Twiggs on the day of the shooting, which said he ‘had enough of (Kirk’s) hatred’ and that ‘some hatred can’t be negotiated out.’

Robinson has not yet entered a plea in the case.

DCLM Daily Manna 9 July 2026 — Seek Reconciliation

DCLM Daily Manna 9 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Seek Reconciliation

TOPIC: Seek Reconciliation (DCLM Daily Manna 9 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought unto thee; because God hath graciously dealt with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it – Genesis 33:11

TEXT: Genesis 33:1-15 (KJV)

1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.

2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.

3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.

5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.

6 Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

7 And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.

8 And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.

9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.

10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.

12 And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.

13 And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

14 Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

15 And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

It is inevitable for us to co-exist with others. In so doing, very often, we offend one another. When this happens, we don’t hold on to the offences. It is imperative for us, as believers, to reconcile with those who offend us, or those who are hurt by our actions and conducts.

This was what Jacob set out to do as he embarked on the journey home in an imminent tense meeting with his twin brother, Esau. Esau was aggrieved by Jacob for using subterfuge to deprive him of the blessing of their father, Isaac. Fearing the danger of Esau’s wrath and his intention to kill him, Jacob had fled home to live with his uncle, Laban. Twenty years later, God appeared to Jacob and instructed him to return to his homeland. He began his homeward journey in obedience to God; but was haunted by the hatred of his brother. He was not sure that many years away from home had healed the wound. Going back home, Jacob must meet his brother with reconciliation, in order to restore their fractured relationship.

Intentionally, Jacob took practical steps toward restoring peace with Esau. Putting his family behind, Jacob went ahead and bowed himself seven times, as he got closer to Esau. This was a gesture of respect, an attempt to pacify his brother and deal with any revengeful thoughts. Additionally, Jacob sent gifts to Esau ahead of their meeting. While Jacob approached his brother with meekness and humility, Esau reciprocated with a hug and a kiss. This was a very refreshing moment! The past wounds had been healed.

As Christians, we are to follow peace with everyone. Where there are offences, let us seek reconciliation and forgiveness. Above all, where there is separation from God and enmity against Him because of sin, there must be reconciliation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
The sweet fragrance of reconciliation is inestimably soothing.
