Authorities in California have reported that two teenagers allegedly misused a Waymo robotaxi for more than just a ride. The teens engaged in target practice while consuming alcohol, but their antics were cut short thanks to the automated vehicle’s intervention.
While traversing San Mateo on Monday afternoon, the self-driving vehicle company noticed that the teens were possibly drinking and shooting from inside the car. Police were soon alerted, according to a report by NBC.
The robotaxi eventually halted, which allowed police to determine that the teens had been drinking and firing Orbeez water beads from within the vehicle.
The San Mateo Police Department shared on social media, “Though inventive, using toy guns, water guns, and BB guns can be quite dangerous, particularly to those who might not recognize them right away.”
They continued, “Handling these items can incite fear in onlookers or those without a clear view. Rapidly releasing projectiles can cause significant harm. Additionally, underage drinking compounds the poor decisions. Although, choosing the Waymo was likely the only prudent choice, as driving under the influence could have turned out far worse.”
In another bizarre Waymo-related crime, San Francisco cops are still hunting a yoga pants thief who allegedly used a driverless Jaguar as a getaway car after swiping merchandise from a Marina District yoga studio in January.
Despite obtaining a search warrant for Waymo footage, investigators have been unable to identify the suspect because interior video had already been deleted and exterior footage blurred faces for privacy.
“It’s highly unusual in the first place that a Waymo is even used by a suspect,” Sgt. Tim Faye said. “It was disappointing that the internal video was not able to lead to the recognition of a suspect.”
Last month another Waymo mishap made headlines when a San Francisco passenger found himself in an unintended police chase after his driverless taxi barreled through a freeway construction zone.
“It went through the cones and then sped up straight away,” rider Elliot Slade said after the robotaxi ignored barriers and drew the attention of patrol officers.
The incident was one of more than a dozen similar construction-zone blunders that prompted Waymo to recall more than 3,800 vehicles and temporarily limit freeway service.
Inset: Jermaine Carol Grant (Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation). Background: The Miami, Fla., neighborhood where Jermaine Grant allegedly shot his roommate (Google Maps).
In a tragic confrontation in a Miami neighborhood, a Florida man, Jermaine Carol Grant, 32, attempted to persuade authorities that he was defending himself when he allegedly shot his roommate multiple times.
Following the incident, Grant is being held without bond. He faced a judge for the first time on Tuesday, two days after the fatal shooting of Xavier Pringle, 38. Details from an arrest affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime revealed that police were alerted to a shooting on Saturday night. When officers arrived at the Miami home in response to the call, they found Pringle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. As emergency responders administered aid, they noticed a weapon in Pringle’s waistband.
Upon further inspection, police confirmed the item was a BB gun and noted the presence of three spent shell casings at the scene.
Pringle was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately did not survive his injuries, adding another layer of tragedy to an already grim situation.
According to the affidavit, police spoke to two witnesses who were inside the house at the time, one of whom was Pringle’s girlfriend. The male witness reportedly told police, “Jermaine shot Xavier,” and said he heard about six “pops.” He then ran into the room where Pringle was and found him lying on the floor in a fetal position. The witness told police he began chest compressions.
Police said the witness told them that things had been “boiling up” in the household between Grant and Pringle.
When police spoke to Pringle’s girlfriend, she told them she saw Pringle go into the kitchen. From another room, she heard Grant tell Pringle, “You splashed water on me.” She explained that Pringle would break up ice to chew on, and he possibly splashed Grant while he was breaking up ice.
Pringle’s girlfriend told police that things became heated and she tried to talk Pringle down when they left the house to smoke. But Pringle went back inside, she said. Pringle’s girlfriend said the male witness approached the two other men, and Grant told him to get out. The male witness joined Pringle’s girlfriend outside, but the two ran back inside after hearing “five to six gunshots.” That was when she found Pringle “unresponsive” on the kitchen floor. According to the affidavit, she believed Grant fled the house through his bedroom.
A search warrant was executed a few hours after the alleged shooting. Police said they found blood on the floor of the home’s entryway and a BB gun on the kitchen counter. They also found a black Smith & Wesson M&P Shield in another room, as well as 11 9 mm shell casings and “three projectiles.”
Police said the owner of the property provided Ring camera footage taken inside that house, which allegedly showed Grant firing his weapon toward the location where Pringle was found on the floor. Grant was allegedly captured on audio yelling, “He got a gun on him.”
When police interviewed Grant, he claimed that he feared for his life because Pringle was holding what Grant believed was a real gun. Grant told police that while he and Pringle had a “heated exchange of words” in the kitchen, Pringle continued to hold his gun in his hand. According to the affidavit, Grant said Pringle eventually put his gun in his waistband, but was still afraid because “he still had a gun.”
Police said Grant claimed that at the culmination of their confrontation, he thought, “It’s me or him, I guess,” even though he also told police that Pringle “never pointed a firearm at him.” Grant reportedly stated that the situation inside the home was “fine” until Pringle started living with them. He told police, “You can’t come in and dominate the house.”
At the end of the interview, Grant asked an officer, “I over-killed him, right?”
Grant was charged with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon. He is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His next court date was not available.
SAN MATEO, Calif. — In an unusual incident, two 15-year-olds were apprehended after being found consuming alcohol and firing gel ball blasters from a self-driving vehicle in San Mateo, California, according to police reports.
The San Mateo Police Department shared on social media, “Once we received the call and halted the vehicle, we safely extracted the individuals. It was revealed they were shooting Orbeez (water beads) while sipping drinks, using the autonomous car as their mobile lounge around the city.”
Waymo, the autonomous vehicle company, alerted the authorities, who promptly intercepted the vehicle.

Egypt’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, has vehemently accused FIFA of manipulating World Cup outcomes following several controversial refereeing calls that adversely affected his team in their match against Argentina in Atlanta on Tuesday.
Argentina, trailing 2-0 with only 12 minutes remaining in regulation and additional stoppage time, appeared set for an early exit from the tournament. However, a stunning turnaround led by late goals from Cristian Romero, Lionel Messi, and Enzo Fernandez secured Argentina a 3-2 victory in a dramatic comeback.
The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when Fernandez scored the winning header in the 93rd minute. This triggered chaos on the Egypt touchline, as livid team officials fiercely protested against referee Francois Letexier. The situation escalated with the expulsion of goalkeeper coach Saafan El-Sagheer, while manager Hassan was forcibly restrained from further confrontations with the official.
The Egyptian team was particularly incensed by the lack of a penalty call from both the referee and VAR, following an incident where Mohamed Salah was tripped by Julian Alvarez inside the box just moments before Argentina’s decisive goal.
Adding to their grievances, Egypt had previously seen a second-half goal annulled by VAR due to a foul in the lead-up. The series of decisions throughout the match seemed to favor Argentina, who have now advanced to the quarter-finals as they continue their quest to defend their title in North America.
After the match, Hassan could not contain his outrage and furiously accused world football’s governing body FIFA of rigging the tournament so that all-time great Messi could remain in the competition for ‘marketing reasons’.
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan has furiously accused FIFA of rigging the World Cup
An Egypt coach was sent off after the bench reacted furiously to Enzo Fernandez’s winning goal for Argentina, clearly upset with the number of decisions that went against them
‘We were better, but football is unfair,’ the heartbroken coach said in his post-match interview.
‘It could be a matter of marketing, they could want to make a World Cup with the champion of the last World Cup, they want Messi to exist (in the tournament).
‘I thank my players very much. To all the Egyptians, the Arabs, the Africans, you can work hard, it’s what you have to do, but sometimes there are other factors that make you struggle.
‘I wish we could be happier with the loss, but with a severe loss like today I say to them (my players) be upset. We wish we could be happier. Thank God for everything but football is different from what happens in the stadium when we are playing against the world champions.
‘There is support from all directions for the world champions. Support and marketing.’
He added later: ‘Why isn’t there any fairness in sport? In football? I do not want to try to put it nicely here with beautiful wording. We have been treated unfairly today. We have suffered injustice.’
Hassan went on to claim that the result was influenced by ‘internal’ and ‘external’ factors and that Egypt had objected to the selection of Letexier as referee.
Egypt were furious at having a goal disallowed when leading 1-0 during the game, and later showed similar expressions of anger and disbelief after Salah was penalised for a soft foul that would otherwise have seen him charge through on goal for a one-on-one opportunity.
As the touchline bust-up at the end of the game broke out following Fernandez’s winner, Hassan made a gesture that is typically used to draw a referee’s attention to an accusation of racism, holding his hands aloft in an X shape.
It is unclear if Hassan was alleging a specific incident had occurred or whether he was protesting more generally against injustice and the controversial decisions that had gone in favour of Argentina.
Lionel Messi inspired Argentina to a dramatic late comeback as the World Cup holders won 3-2
Egypt’s star man Mohamed Salah cut a miserable figure as he arrived back at Egypt’s hotel
Messi, who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer to have graced the game and steered Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar in 2022, is spending the last years of his glittering career in the USA as a veteran for David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who has already drawn controversy over the World Cup’s integrity after his institution agreed to suspend USA forward Folarin Balogun’s red card following a phone call with Donald Trump, has been targeted with accusations of bias by fans amid Argentina’s World Cup success during his tenure.
The Swiss football chief, who has struck a friendship with Trump after awarding the President with FIFA’s inaugural peace prize in 2025, raised eyebrows when he joyfully congratulated Argentina following their narrow last-32 win over Cape Verde – and immediately backpedalled by insisting he is neutral.
Ahead of Switzerland’s round of 16 clash with Colombia in Vancouver, Infantino raised an Egyptian flag aloft in a possible attempt to rubbish accusations of favouritism towards Argentina after their late comeback.
It is important to note that, despite claims online, no evidence has emerged to support allegations or corruption or match manipulation against FIFA or Infantino.
The first big decision made by referee Letexier during Egypt’s defeat was to award Argentina a penalty during the first half, although the Pharaohs should have few complaints about the spot-kick, which was ultimately missed by Messi.
In what was another thrilling round of 16 clash at the World Cup, Yasser Ibrahim put Egypt ahead after just 15 minutes, before Mostafa Ziko doubled their advantage midway through the second half.
Ziko added fuel to the fire after the game by describing Letexier as an ‘unjust’ referee.
‘Referee, not fair,’ he said in tears during his post-match interview. ‘Unjust, unjust referee. An unjust person. An injustice that is so clear.
‘He’s wasting the effort of an entire nation. Since the beginning of the game, we were leaving the game winning 2-0 against Argentina. But the cup has already been given.’
Gianni Infantino lifted an Egyptian flag aloft in Vancouver shortly after the country’s elimination
Ziko, who netted Egypt’s second goal, congratulated Argentina on already winning the World Cup, claiming that the holders have been shown favouritism by ‘unjust’ referees
‘I apologise to (the Egypt fans). We wanted to make them happy today. We didn’t know how to do that. But, by God, it’s not in our hands; it’s in the hands of the referee. The cup has already been decided.
‘Congratulations to Argentina on the World Cup. Congratulations. You don’t need anything else.’
Shortly after the game in Atlanta, FIFA confirmed that all officials for France’s quarter-final against Morocco will be Argentinian – the first time this tournament that all match referees will be from the same country, sparking more allegations of favouritism.
Some fans noted in the fallout of Egypt’s defeat that Argentina have been awarded a remarkable eight penalties in their last 12 World Cup matches, with spot-kicks proving crucial to their triumph in Qatar in 2022.
Argentina will face either Switzerland or Colombia in the World Cup quarter-finals before a potential showdown with England in the semi-finals, should Harry Kane and Co prevail against Erling Haaland’s Norway on Saturday.

Experiencing stiffness in your shoulders after hitting 55? Discover these five chair exercises designed to enhance mobility and ease of movement.
>
The initial indicators that your shoulder mobility might need some attention often aren’t severe injuries. Instead, they manifest in smaller struggles: reaching for a mug on a high shelf, putting on a coat, buckling a seatbelt, or settling in with your arms overhead. These common activities depend on the harmonious movement of the shoulder joint, shoulder blade, upper back, and rotator cuff.
Yoga proves beneficial for enhancing posture, breathing, and overall flexibility. However, when advising those over 55 eager to increase ease with overhead and behind-the-back movements, incorporating exercises that focus on pulling, external rotation, and controlled arm pathways is crucial. Such movements help fortify the shoulder area while allowing you to practice maintaining your desired range of motion.
Utilizing a chair simplifies these exercises by removing balance from the focus, allowing you to concentrate on positioning. Begin with light resistance, ensuring your movements are smooth, and keep your upper back engaged as your arms transition through the exercises. These five activities provide targeted shoulder workouts without the need to lie on the floor or transform your home into a gym.
5 Daily Exercises to Tone Your Waistline More Effectively Than the Gym at 55+
Seated Band Pull-Aparts
Seated band pull-aparts train the upper back, rear shoulders, and smaller muscles that help guide the shoulder blades. As your hands move apart, your shoulders practice opening without your chest lifting or your neck taking over. That combination can make reaching overhead and maintaining upright posture feel more comfortable over time. Use a light band so you can finish each rep with control.
Hold a light resistance band with both hands at shoulder height.
Start with your arms straight and your hands about shoulder-width apart.
Brace your core and keep your ribs stacked over your hips.
Pull the band apart until your hands move out to your sides.
Pause briefly, then return to the starting position with control.
Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.
Best Variations: Underhand pull-aparts, diagonal pull-aparts, slow-tempo pull-aparts.
Form Tip: Keep your shoulders relaxed away from your ears as the band opens.
Seated Arm Circles
Seated arm circles help your shoulders move through a controlled range while your upper back stays active. They warm up the joint, challenge the muscles around the shoulder, and give you a simple way to practice smoother overhead motion. Start with small circles and gradually make them larger as your shoulders loosen up. This is a strong first movement before adding bands or weights.
Raise your arms out to your sides at shoulder height.
Make small circles forward with both arms.
Gradually increase the size of the circles as long as the movement feels smooth.
Continue for the full interval.
Reverse direction and repeat.
Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 20 to 30 seconds in each direction. Rest for 20 to 30 seconds between sets.
Best Variations: Smaller arm circles, alternating arm circles, slow-tempo arm circles.
Form Tip: Keep your chest tall and let your shoulder blades move naturally as your arms circle.
6 Home Exercises That Restore Muscle Tone Faster Than Gym Classes After 60
Seated Band Face Pulls
Seated band face pulls strengthen the upper back, rear shoulders, and rotator cuff while teaching your shoulder blades to move into a stronger position. The pull toward your face combines rowing and external rotation, two actions that support healthier overhead motion. It also counteracts the rounded posture that can develop after long periods of sitting. Use a secure anchor point and a band that lets you control the full range.
Secure a light resistance band to a stable anchor at eye level.
Sit tall in a chair facing the anchor point.
Hold the ends of the band with your palms facing down.
Pull the band toward your forehead or the bridge of your nose.
Draw your elbows wide and gently separate your hands as you pull.
Pause briefly, then return to the start with control.
Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 12 reps. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.
Best Variations: Standing face pulls, half-kneeling face pulls, slow-tempo face pulls.
Form Tip: Keep your neck long and avoid shrugging your shoulders toward your ears.
Seated I, Y, Ts
Seated I, Y, Ts train the upper back and smaller shoulder muscles through three useful arm positions. Each shape asks your shoulder blades to move with control while your arms reach in a different direction. That makes the exercise useful for building strength around the positions you use for reaching, lifting, and carrying. Begin without weight, then add very light dumbbells once the movement feels steady.
Sit near the front edge of a chair and hinge slightly forward from your hips.
Let your arms hang toward the floor with your thumbs facing up.
Raise your arms forward and slightly upward to form an I shape, then lower them.
Raise your arms diagonally out to form a Y shape, then lower them.
Raise your arms straight out to the sides to form a T shape, then lower them.
Complete all three positions before starting the next rep.
Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 5 to 8 reps in each position. Rest for 45 seconds between sets.
Best Variations: Bodyweight I, Y, Ts, light dumbbell I, Y, Ts, slow-tempo I, Y, Ts.
Form Tip: Keep your shoulders away from your ears and move only through a range you can control.
The Daily 10-Minute Routine Doctors Recommend to Restore Knee Strength After 60
Seated Band External Rotations
6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e
Seated band external rotations give direct attention to the rotator cuff, a group of smaller muscles that help keep the shoulder joint stable as your arm moves. Stronger external rotators can make pressing, reaching, pulling, and overhead work feel more organized. The seated position keeps the setup simple, while the band provides enough resistance to make the movement meaningful. Keep the band light and prioritize smooth motion over a big range.
Sit tall with your elbows bent to 90 degrees and tucked close to your ribs.
Hold a light resistance band with both hands, palms facing each other.
Start with your forearms parallel in front of you.
Pull your hands apart while keeping your elbows close to your sides.
Pause once you feel your upper back and the back of your shoulders engage.
Return to the starting position with control.
Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 3 sets of 10 to 15 reps. Rest for 30 to 45 seconds between each set.
Best Variations: Single-arm band external rotations, wall-supported external rotations, slow-tempo external rotations.
Form Tip: Keep your elbows pinned close to your ribs rather than letting them flare outward.
How to Improve Shoulder Mobility With Chair Exercises After 55
Shutterstock
Shoulder mobility improves when you give the joint frequent practice in comfortable ranges while building enough strength to control those positions. These exercises work well two to four times per week, especially when you start light and progress gradually.
Begin with circles: Arm circles prepare the shoulders before you move into band resistance.
Train pulling and rotation together: Pull-aparts, face pulls, and external rotations give the upper back and rotator cuff the work they need to support shoulder movement.
Use small progressions: Add a few reps, increase the size of your circles, or move to a slightly stronger band once your current version feels smooth.
Keep your posture organized: Sit tall, keep your ribs stacked, and let your shoulder blades move without lifting your shoulders toward your ears.
Stay consistent: A short, focused chair routine repeated a few days each week can add up to meaningful improvements in how your shoulders feel during daily tasks.
Your shoulders respond well to regular movement that combines mobility with strength. Give them a few focused minutes in the chair, keep the reps controlled, and every day, reaching and movement can start to feel smoother and more confident.
A troubling incident in Gainesville, Florida, has led to Daryl James Fowler, age 33, facing three charges of sexual battery. Authorities allege that he raped a 14-year-old girl who had run away from home, after meeting her at a local bus stop.
According to the victim’s account to a detective from the Gainesville Police Department, the encounter began near the Rosa Parks Transfer Station located at 700 SE 3rd Street. The girl, who informed Fowler that she was 14 and without a home, said he offered her refuge at his tent, and she accepted the invitation.
As she recounted to the detective, the duo walked past a series of car dealerships before turning into a local neighborhood. Their walk ended at a campsite, which the victim was able to describe in great detail, including directions to reach it.
Investigators confirmed the existence of the campsite in a wooded area close to Pine Forest, particularly the 4200 block of NE 2nd Way. The site closely matched the victim’s description, and police found a bicycle at the location bearing Fowler’s name, corroborating her report.
The victim said that after they arrived at the campsite, Fowler told her someone had been murdered recently in the woods and that nobody would hear her if she screamed. She said she became uncomfortable and tried to leave, but Fowler grabbed her hair and told her she was not going anywhere, and then he raped her three times.
The victim said she left the campsite after Fowler went to work, and he told her he worked at Taco Bell near Arby’s; she provided Fowler’s first name and his age.
Officers went to Taco Bell (1515 SW 13th Street) and asked the manager if anyone named Daryl worked there; the manager reportedly showed them a picture of Fowler. The victim identified Fowler in a photo lineup.
Fowler, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with false imprisonment and three counts of sexual battery of a victim under the age of 18. His full criminal history is unavailable, but court documents state that his history includes grand theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of cocaine. Judge Jonathan Ramsey ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
According to Fox News, a truck driver from Uzbekistan, who entered the U.S. through a diversity visa lottery, tragically ended the life of a prominent college soccer goalie in Ohio this past weekend. The driver had to rely on Google Translate to communicate with state troopers at the accident site.
Sources revealed that Bekhzod Asrarov, 42, crashed into the rear of a vehicle on Interstate 71 in Madison County. This collision resulted in the death of 21-year-old Tobias “Toby” Forsythe, a goalkeeper for the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
When officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived, Asrarov, who possesses an Ohio commercial driver’s license, attempted to remove the dash camera from his truck and conceal it in his pocket, as per sources.

Asrarov immigrated to the United States through the diversity visa lottery program during the Biden administration in 2024.
“We cannot let truckers like Asrarov, who can’t read our road signs or speak to law enforcement, drive 80,000-pound rigs on America’s highways,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy wrote on X.
News Media has reached out to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Forsythe, an economics major, joined the UMass Lowell River Hawks in 2026 after playing for Ashland University for two seasons and Shawnee State, where he started all 17 games in 2025, the university said in a news release announcing his death.
“Our entire athletics department is heartbroken by Toby’s passing,” said UMass Lowell athletic director Lynn Coutts. “Although Toby’s time as a River Hawk was cut far too short, he left a meaningful impact and will always be remembered as a cherished member of our UMass Lowell family.”
UMass Lowell head coach Kyle Zenoni said Forsythe showed up to the pitch every day to compete and improve as a player.
“He never looked for shortcuts and never expected anything to be given to him – he simply wanted the opportunity to earn it,” Zenoni said. “Our hearts are with Toby’s family, friends, teammates and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever be grateful that Toby was part of our River Hawk family and we will honor his memory by carrying forward the example he set.”
The Trump administration has intensified efforts to revoke the CDLs of immigrant truck drivers who are not proficient in English, calling them a danger to the road.
Most recently, a Haitian national who authorities said remained in the U.S. despite being ordered to leave was charged in the death of a Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection along Interstate 81 last week.
Think your AI-powered travel guide is giving you the whole truth? It might be seeing the world through rose-colored lenses.
TripAdvisor’s AI-generated review summaries are facing criticism following an investigation that revealed the chatbot might be downplaying serious guest complaints.
These complaints include reports of food poisoning, poor sanitation, and even allegations of sexual misconduct—yet the AI tends to depict a much rosier picture of certain vacation destinations.
A particularly concerning instance was highlighted at the Riu Palace Santa Maria in Cape Verde, as initially detailed by The Guardian.
The AI described the hotel as having “spotless” accommodations, spacious rooms, and restaurants that consistently receive “rave reviews.”
The glowing summary stood in stark contrast to numerous guest accounts describing raw chicken, birds and flies around buffet food and one traveler who warned: “This place will destroy holidays.”
The resort’s operator, RIU Hotels & Resorts, defended its practices, as per the outlet, saying: “We operate with the highest standards of professionalism and service, placing hygienic-sanitary safety as our top priority.”
Another AI-generated summary praised a resort in Turkey for its “friendly” service despite guest reviews alleging repeated sexual harassment by male staff.
Rather than highlighting those complaints, the AI referred only to “lapses [in service] noted by a few.”
“The platform has a responsibility to revisit the accuracy of its AI summaries and AI chatbot,” Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, told The Guardian.
“In the meantime, users should scroll past these summaries and look at guest reviews, particularly one-star ratings, and at reviews on other sites, to make sure their next stay is a safe one.”
TripAdvisor said it is reviewing the examples highlighted in the investigation and continues refining the feature.
The company said it is “looking into the examples where reviews did not match the intended property,” adding that it remains “confident these features are delivering exactly what they were designed to do: help travellers quickly understand the breadth of feedback while making it easy to explore the underlying reviews in full.”
TripAdvisor also noted that AI summaries are designed to complement and work alongside — not fully replace — the site’s user reviews, and said its systems automatically suppress AI summaries for listings involving reports of the most serious safety incidents, including death, drugging and sexual assault.
The findings come as more Americans — particularly younger travelers — are increasingly letting artificial intelligence play travel agent.
A Talker Research survey of 2,000 Americans last year found millennials and Gen Z are far more likely than older generations to use AI to plan vacations, from comparing airfare and picking destinations to building entire itineraries complete with sightseeing recommendations.
Only 29% of millennials and 33% of Gen Z respondents said they’d never used AI to help plan a trip, compared to seven in 10 baby boomers who said they’ve never turned to the technology for vacation advice.
But AI hasn’t always been the world’s most reliable travel companion.
The Post previously reported on an influencer couple whose dream trip to Puerto Rico unraveled after they said ChatGPT incorrectly told them they didn’t need any additional travel documents.
After arriving at the airport, they learned they still needed an ESTA travel authorization, causing them to miss their flight.
The couple later went viral on TikTok after documenting the ordeal, with some viewers sympathizing while others argued the chatbot wasn’t entirely to blame because they had asked about visas — not the separate ESTA requirement.
Taken together, the incidents serve as another reminder that while AI can be a helpful starting point, travelers should still double-check important details — whether it’s entry requirements or hotel reviews — before hitting “book now.”
Finn Russell is gearing up for a return to action against South Africa as Scotland prepares to challenge the reigning world champions in Pretoria this weekend.
However, head coach Gregor Townsend acknowledges that selecting his final team could present a significant challenge, particularly after strong performances by Tom Jordan and Fergus Burke in their recent victory over Argentina.
Russell was absent during Scotland’s thrilling 47-38 triumph in Cordoba, which marked a sensational start to their Nations Championship campaign.
With Russell away, Jordan took the starting position at fly-half against Los Pumas, while Burke made a notable impact coming off the bench.
Townsend’s squad dazzled by scoring seven tries, clinching a bonus-point victory that propelled Scotland back to fifth place in the world rankings.
Russell missed the win over Argentina but is back in the frame for the South Africa clash
The assumption was that Russell would come straight back into the team, but Townsend feels there is now genuine competition in the most important position in the team.
Asked whether Russell is 100 per cent, the Scotland head coach replied: ‘Yeah, he should be. He has been training well, both at the end of last week and now here in South Africa.
‘The guys who weren’t involved did a session on Saturday after the team run and he’s trained fine again since then.
‘I think he’s definitely over the calf injury. He may have been fit at the weekend had we really needed him.
‘We just felt that he needed more training to really be available for the tough test matches ahead of us, especially this one this weekend.
‘The depth at 10 is very, very good. We’ve got players who have played for us on a number of occasions.
‘I think of Adam Hastings, who’s not on this tour, and Dan Lancaster, who started for Glasgow over the last few weeks of the season.
‘Then you’ve got Fergus, who showed his class again last weekend. He was arguably the form 10 in England towards the end of last season with Saracen.
Tom Jordan deputised against Los Pumas and staked his claim for the No10 jersey
‘He came off the bench twice against Argentina and really added to our attack. Tom showed what a competitive Test player he is. That competition is important.
‘If Finn had been available for that game, I’m not sure whether we would have started him.
I think this tour is one that we would have wanted to give opportunities to the other 10s.
‘We’re really encouraged that both Tom and Fergus played at the weekend and played well. Now it makes it interesting for the next two games what we’re going to do in that position.’
Scotland flew to Pretoria immediately after their victory over Argentina on Saturday and have spent the last few days acclimatising.
The game will be played at the iconic Loftus Versfeld stadium, where the altitude invariably plays a big factor.
As they often do, the Springboks named their team early at the start of the week after kicking off with a dominant win over England last Saturday.
Although they are not at full strength, with head coach Rassie Erasmus making ten changes in total, they are still a hugely formidable outfit.
Former World Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit starts in the back row, with Jesse Kriel, Damian Willemse, Canan Moodie and Handre Pollard all in the starting XV.
Facing South Africa on their own patch will be a new experience for the vast majority of the Scotland camp, albeit Russell did it with the Lions in 2021.
Asked about the scale of the challenge, Townsend added: “Absolutely, this is as tough as it gets in world rugby.
‘South Africa are the No 1 team in the world, the back-to-back world champions, so it really doesn’t get any tougher. It’s an iconic stadium as well, which really adds to it.
‘From our perspective, no one in our group has played South Africa for Scotland away from home.
Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has a decision to make over his No10
‘It’s a unique opportunity for us, obviously the biggest challenge in world rugby.
‘Having seen how quickly they got into their game against England last weekend, they looked like they’d been playing together for months.
‘They’re a team that knows their identity. I think everybody in world rugby knows their identity and they’re very good at what they do.
‘It’s a great challenge, as you say, a great marker of where we are and where we need to go all in this game.
‘There’s going to be moments, or more than just moments, where the Springboks have the upper hand.
‘We’ve learned from previous experiences, but this is a new one. I can’t wait to see how our players react and how they come together.
‘We’re growing our identity of how we play as a team, but also how we react to incidents in the game, errors, even if things are going our way, so they get another opportunity to do this on Saturday.’
Reports indicate that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is in good spirits, engaging in conversations over the phone and touching on numerous subjects.
CNN’s Scott Jennings shared that he held a conversation with McConnell, whom he regards as an “old friend,” on Tuesday morning. Their chat spanned close to 20 minutes, addressing an array of topics.
Jennings elaborated, “This morning, I had a conversation with my old friend, Mitch McConnell, the senior Senator from Kentucky, who is still recuperating in the hospital. We conversed for just under 20 minutes, discussing topics such as IRAN, UKRAINE, the ongoing developments in MAINE, my visit to the TR Presidential Library, and even delved into some Senate history.”
Expressing anticipation for McConnell’s return, Jennings remarked, “I told him we’re eager to see him back at work as soon as possible.”
Furthermore, a spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) noted that Thune also engaged in a phone call with McConnell on Monday. The conversation was substantial and included discussions on national security among other significant issues.
These reports veer dramatically from claims made by conservative activist Laura Loomer and journalist Desiree Townsend, both of whom claimed Monday that McConnell had been declared “brain dead,” although they did not provide specific sources. His team responded and adamantly denied the allegations. A spokesperson for McConnell said that on the contrary, the 84-year-old senator continues to improve in the hospital and is working with his staff.
“Senator McConnell appreciates the outpouring of support he’s receiving while he continues his recovery in the hospital,” the spokesperson told – News. “The Senator continues to improve and is working closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters while the Senate is out of session.”
McConnell was admitted to the hospital on June 14, but his specific health condition remains largely a mystery. He has suffered from a concussion as well as falls over the past few years and, infamously, had two inexplicable freeze-ups at the podium.
Notably, McConnell’s wife, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who has ties to China, traveled to Beijing to meet with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng only three days after her husband was rushed to the hospital, her trip raising eyebrows.
