Moana’s Canoe Set to Arrive on the Jersey Shore

0

Anticipation is on the rise for Disney’s live-action rendition of ‘Moana,’ as enthusiasts of the beloved story will soon have the opportunity to connect more closely with the daring voyager and explorer without leaving American shores.

Moana first captured our hearts in 2016 with Disney’s animated feature. Now, this captivating tale is set to make a dramatic live-action debut, bringing with it one of its most memorable elements—her distinctive canoe.

Fans will be thrilled to know that the very canoe used in the movie is making its way to the Jersey shore this Friday.

The skilled captain who played a part in crafting this iconic vessel for the movie will be docking at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, ready to offer an exciting experience for fans.

Captain Nakoa Prejean teamed up with stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, portraying Maui, and Catherine Laga’aia as Moana, to instruct them on the arts of sailing and traditional wayfinding techniques.

Every textile, every voice, every face of this film belongs to Polynesia. That includes Laga’aia, a 19-year-old Samoan Australian who is making her feature film debut.

She’s been a fan of the courageous daughter of the village chief since she was 9 years old.

From the music to the dance, to the dress, all of this is a full-circle moment for Laga’aia.

She recalls the moment she stepped into the costume.

“I did a try-on in Aotearoa New Zealand, which was really fun,” says Laga’aia. “I got to stand with our costume designer, Liz McGregor, and getting to put it on for the very first time was very surreal. You’re seeing and feeling these things for the first time, and they’re all made out of the authentic material that they would have been made out of, which is so fun. It’s such a beautiful thing to get to wear and don these outfits as a representation of where we all come from.”

That, she says, is the beauty of this film: the commitment to authenticity and the culture of the Pacific Islands.

Crystal Palace Targets Three Key Signings for Europa League Ambitions, Updates on New Contracts, and Mateta’s Future Secure

Crystal Palace plans to restart contract discussions with Chris Richards following the conclusion of the World Cup.

Richards is entering what could be his last season on his current deal, though there is an option for an extra year. Daily Mail Sport reports that the involved parties had made progress in negotiations prior to the World Cup but decided to halt discussions to allow the U.S. international to concentrate on the tournament hosted in his home country.

Both sides are keen to finalize a new contract, as the 26-year-old is happy at Palace, having achieved significant success by securing the FA Cup, Community Shield, and UEFA Conference League titles within a year. Richards, who moved to Palace in 2022 from Bayern Munich, has become a staple for the Eagles with 122 appearances.

The strength of Palace’s defensive trio has been pivotal to their achievements over the last two years, with Richards being a fundamental part of that strategy. This season, Pierre Sage, who succeeded Oliver Glasner, continues to employ the three-man defense effectively.

Chris Richards remains pleased at Palace, having claimed the FA Cup, Community Shield, and UEFA Conference League in just one year.

What’s happening with Lacroix?

Maxence Lacroix is admired by Chelsea, who are assessing four options to improve their defence.

The France international, who is open to leaving this summer, still has three years remaining on his contract – allowing Palace to demand top whack for the defender. But Palace sources insist there has yet to be any contact from their London rivals.

Palace will ask for more than the £52million that Brighton secured from Tottenham for Jan Paul van Hecke last month. Lacroix is also currently at the World Cup, with runaway favourites France.

Why Palace are holding firm on Mateta

Attempting to leave Palace this summer may be difficult for Jean-Philippe Mateta. Palace are relaxed about his situation and are prepared to let his contract run down.

The club’s stance is that the 29-year-old will not be sold on the cheap simply because he has a year remaining on his deal. His £55,000-a-week salary represents exceptional value for a striker who has registered three consecutive seasons of more than 10 goals.

His talismanic performances have more than justified the £9m investment Palace made in 2022, and they would rather retain his services for the upcoming Europa League campaign.

Mateta’s camp remain keen to move him after his winter transfer to AC Milan collapsed because of a failed medical. Mateta turned down several contract offers of at least £100,000 a week from Palace, believing it would strengthen his position to push for a move elsewhere.

What areas are they targeting?

Palace have indicated that they have learnt from last summer’s mistakes. Their squad was under-equipped to compete in both the Premier League and Conference League, with the latter eventually prioritised.

Glasner’s view was that Palace did not do enough business last summer, which forced them into the winter market, where they spent over £70m on Brennan Johnson and Jorgen Strand Larsen.

But Palace accept they need a deeper squad for the Europa League, with a centre back, central midfielder and No 10 targeted regardless of outgoings. Should Lacroix leave, Palace would look to sign another centre back. Otherwise, they believe five options, along with the ability of midfielder Jefferson Lerma to fill in, provide sufficient depth.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs will execute the summer business, alongside negotiator Iain Moody, while chairman Steve Parish signs off on every deal. New manager Sage will also have input in the recruitment process.

Palace have recently expanded their scouting department, while assistant sporting director Ben Stevens is set to leave for Swansea City.

Henderson’s new deal

Fan favourite Dean Henderson is set for talks over a new contract as a reward for his stellar performances.

Salary talks will centre on his increased role as captain and pivotal contributions during Palace’s golden era. He is currently tied down until summer 2028.

The England goalkeeper has made 116 appearances for Palace since joining from Manchester United for £14m in 2023.

Kamada set to stay

Daichi Kamada is set to remain at Palace. The midfielder is out of contract, but an agreement over a new deal is close.

Kamada communicated his desire to remain at Palace to the Japanese press after their World Cup exit to Brazil earlier this week.

‘When you consider that I can play in the Premier League, play in a European league, play in London, and have my family in a familiar environment, there aren’t many clubs better than Palace,’ Kamada said.

The 29-year-old, who joined Palace two seasons ago, has formed a formidable midfield partnership with Adam Wharton in SE25, and securing his future is a significant boost.

Rak-Sakyi heading for the exit

Academy product Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is likely to leave this summer.

Rak-Sakyi, 23, was the academy’s golden boy after an impressive loan spell at Charlton Athletic, where he won Player of the Year in the 2022-23 season. However, he has struggled to reach the same levels since.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Turkish top-flight side Caykur Rizespor, scoring four goals in 11 appearances, before returning to England for a spell at Stoke City.

Last summer, Palace put a £15m asking price on the player, but that figure has since dropped now that he has only one year left on his contract. He is prioritising a move to a top-flight club, with a move to Europe the most likely outcome.

Both Palace and Rak-Sakyi believe finding a new club is the best course of action

Pre-season plans

The Eagles will begin their preparations against Swindon Town on July 18th – the day before the World Cup final – in Sage’s first game in charge.

They will then face League One side Bromley, before travelling to Lake Como for the Como Cup, where they will play two 45-minute matches and a 90-minute match.

There will be no Selhurst Park friendly due to ongoing stadium works. Palace will travel to Freiburg on the weekend before the start of the season.

Complicating matters is the fact Palace had 12 players at the World Cup – a tally bettered by only three Premier League clubs – leaving Sage with precious little time to get his ideas across to the majority of the regular starters.

Deciphering Australia’s Price Gouging Laws: Can They Reduce Grocery Costs?

0

A new set of anti-price gouging laws takes effect in Australia today, prohibiting supermarkets earning more than $30 billion in revenue from charging prices considered excessively high relative to the cost of supply.

In essence, this legislation primarily targets Coles and Woolworths, the only two supermarket giants meeting this revenue benchmark. They could face penalties of up to $10 million if accused and convicted of imposing prices deemed excessively high compared to the product’s supply cost.

According to Treasurer Jim Chalmers, this initiative aims to ensure a fairer shopping experience for Australians. However, some experts are questioning its potential effectiveness.

Will the new price gouging laws help lower your grocery bill?

Although these new regulations are designed to curb price gouging by Australia’s two largest supermarkets, they might not necessarily lead to lower prices at the checkout counter.

“These laws won’t necessarily translate to cheaper grocery bills,” explained Lisa Asher, a retail expert with the University of Sydney Business School, during an interview with SBS News.

“It will prevent [groceries] from getting more expensive due to price gouging from Coles and Woolworths only. The issue is, I don’t actually think they were.”

In a report last year, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) found the near-duopoly of Coles and Woolworths gave them little incentive to compete vigorously, noting that they were among the most profitable supermarkets in the world.

A graphic showing three points from the new price gouging rules.

But its report never directly accused the supermarkets of gouging customers, and it’s something both Coles and Woolworths have denied.

Asher said rising grocery bills are more due to a structural lack of competition in the Australian market.

“Until there is meaningful competition in the Australian market which forces our retailers to actually compete for us, then we will continue to see higher prices,” she said.

Hard to prove

Proving price gouging isn’t easy.

Experts say the laws will be difficult to enforce in practice and even harder to use to win back customers’ trust.

“The law’s real test won’t be in court; it’ll be in the public’s gut. Shoppers don’t compare prices to a retailer’s costs, they compare them to what they remember paying last time,” associate professor Meg Elkins, a behavioural economist at RMIT University, said.

“The law’s test is cost-based, asking whether the price is excessive relative to the cost of supply. But the public’s test is memory-based, asking whether this price is higher than expected.

“A retailer can clear the legal bar easily, for entirely legitimate reasons like a bad harvest or rising freight costs, and it will still feel like gouging at the checkout.”

The laws also don’t define what “excessive” means or what counts as a reasonable margin — and with supermarkets selling thousands of products under shared costs, isolating any single item’s true margin is difficult.

That difficulty lands at an already tense moment for supermarket trust.

Coles and Woolworths remain two of Australia’s least trusted brands, according to Roy Morgan research.

In May, Coles were penalised over its ‘Down Down’ promotion for “misleading representation”, temporarily increasing the prices of products before placing them on sale. Woolworths is being investigated for a similar practice.

“The biggest impact on supermarkets may be psychological; making them feel watched, rather than actually catching them out legally,” Elkins said.

Asher said the biggest issue with the laws lies in who they don’t cover.

Companies like Amazon and Wesfarmers — which owns Bunnings Warehouse, Kmart, Officeworks and Priceline, among others — sit outside the laws’ parameters and get off “scot-free”, she said.

“I want to see these price gouging changes applied to large retail or big retail,” she said. “I think it’s a little bit cheeky and a little bit sly that Coles and Woolworths got the beating.”

What can shoppers actually do?

With prices unlikely to move because of the new laws, Asher said the best lever shoppers have is their own behaviour.

“Be promiscuous in your relationship until you get the right amount of value. They need to win you,” she said. “When there’s greater cross-shopping, stores can see that a shopper is spending less and it forces them to improve their value offer to win you back.”

She also recommends shopping in-store over online, as “you’re seeing a curated version online of what they want you to see”.

Should shoppers notice any suspicious price rises, they should keep receipts and take photos to report to the ACCC.

Blac Chyna Reveals Detailed Insights on Her Cosmetic Surgery and Implant Sizes

Blac Chyna is candid about her experiences with cosmetic procedures and isn’t shy about sharing her journey.

“I had all those booty shots removed, and all the silicone is gone; I have never had a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL),” the 38-year-old disclosed on Instagram on Saturday, June 27, as she opened up about her aesthetic enhancements. “I carried no body fat for a BBL. It’s just the truth, no disrespect.”

Continuing her account, she said, “My first breast implants were 300 cc. I upgraded from 300 to 700 cc, then down to 500, 300, and now I’m at 100 cc. I believe it’s around 120 cc now, considering I was naturally flat-chested. Once they’re stretched out, they need something to fill the space so it’s not just hollow inside.”

Chyna further mentioned that she has “removed all fillers from my cheeks, along with fillers in my chin and jawline.”

“Anything else?” she pondered aloud, ticking off her cosmetic changes mentally. “I don’t use Botox, so from now on, if I’m upset with you, you’ll be able to tell. That’s really it!”

Chyna previously opened up about going under the knife back in 2023 while chatting with Tamron Hall. “I’m done with it y’all. No more,” she said at the time, noting that she originally got work done because of “insecurities.”

Blac Chyna Dissolving Fillers

Blac Chyna is changing her life. The reality star is on a journey of self-discovery, which started with removing cosmetic enhancements.  Chyna, 34, revealed to her followers via an Instagram video on Monday, March 20, that she is in the process of dissolving all of her facial fillers. In the clip, the TV personality headed […]

“Honestly, what was kind of in at that moment,” Chyna explained. “Being in the industry, you want to have this image of yourself to look perfect,” she shared. “And there’s no such thing as that. There’s no such thing.”

Chyna continued, “I was an exotic dancer for six years, from the ages of 18 to 24 years old. And being inside the strip club or the gentleman’s club … I’m looking at the [other] women, I’m looking at myself like, ‘OK, that’s not it. This is not gonna make the money. This is not gonna do it.’ So I felt the pressures of trying to hurry up and build my body when I should’ve just waited until I was older.”

Chyna noted that her body was still not fully “developed” at the time, but she wasn’t “thinking about that.”

“Nobody was telling me, you know, right from wrong. It was the golden ticket. I was not worried about [the health risks] at all,” she said.

WHOOP Wearable Insights Unveil Emerging Mental Health Trends Among Users

0

If June felt like an emotional rollercoaster, you weren’t alone, according to findings from a leading human performance company.

Insights from WHOOP, the company known for its health-tracking wearable device, have shed new light on mental health patterns among its member base. This health optimization platform, which requires a yearly subscription starting at $199, delivers continuous biometric data to help users enhance their physical and mental well-being.

According to national statistics from 2022, almost one in four adults in the United States faces a mental health challenge.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, WHOOP took a closer look at anonymized data from hundreds of thousands of its users across the U.S. This analysis aimed to gain a deeper understanding of how individuals experience and document their mental well-being on a daily basis.

The findings were striking. Anxiety and stress stood out as the most frequently documented mental health concerns among WHOOP users. In 2025 alone, over 160,000 members recorded these experiences in the WHOOP Journal, surpassing other symptoms such as mood fluctuations, irritability, and depression.

The timing of these logs also suggests a seasonal pattern.

According to WHOOP’s data, the first week of May saw the highest spike in mental health journaling activity of the year. An additional 7,000 members logged mental health entries in that week-long period.

Beyond the self-reported data, the company says these findings could also reveal a physiological correlation between mental and physical health outcomes.

Whoop

WHOOP

WHOOP tracks a variety of important health metrics such as heart rate variability (HRV), sleep performance, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen, using them to predict a daily recovery score that reflects a person’s physical readiness.

Based on analysis across roughly 30,000 WHOOP users, on days when members reported elevated stress or anxiety levels, their recovery scores and sleep duration were significantly lower compared to days when those symptoms were not reported.

Fortunately, WHOOP also offers resources and tools for users experiencing stress or anxiety.

The company’s AI feature, WHOOP Coach, provides real-time insights into cognitive and emotional stress, helping identify patterns and potential triggers. It also offers science-backed breathing exercises designed to calm the nervous system and support recovery.

WHOOP’s latest data highlights how wearable technology can do more than track performance — it can also help users identify trends and implement changes that support both mental and physical health.

Toddler Miraculously Rescued Alive Six Days After Venezuela’s Twin Earthquakes

0

In a miraculous turn of events, emergency teams in Venezuela achieved a remarkable rescue on Tuesday. A 2-year-old boy was pulled alive from the debris, six days after a series of devastating earthquakes shook the nation. This heartwarming rescue of the young boy marks the only survivor found on the sixth day of relentless search and rescue operations.

La Guaira, the area hardest hit by the seismic activity, became the center of attention when emergency workers from Jordan made the breakthrough discovery. As reported by Venezuela’s acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, in a Telegram update, the rescuers managed to extract the child from a collapsed structure, offering a glimmer of hope amid the tragedy that had unfolded.

The boy, identified by Venezuelan authorities as Klieber Moran, spent nearly a week ensnared within the wreckage before his dramatic rescue. Once freed, the young survivor was swiftly transported to a hospital to receive necessary medical care, ensuring his safe recovery.

The story of young Moran’s rescue underscores the resilience and dedication of the emergency teams on the ground, who continue their efforts despite overwhelming odds. Meanwhile, in response to the crisis, international aid efforts have ramped up to support Venezuela’s recovery. The Trump Administration has announced a pledge of $150 million in aid and has begun deploying Navy warships to assist in the aftermath of the catastrophic earthquakes.

According to the State Department, the three USAR teams include 312 personnel and 18 canine teams, made up of firefighters, physicians, structural engineers and canine search specialists, and deployed with more than 200,000 pounds of specialized rescue equipment.

Astrological Shake-Up: Four Zodiac Signs Face Past Revelations During Mercury Retrograde

0

For those who follow the stars, be on high alert, as a significant planetary transition is poised to bring long-buried secrets and unresolved issues to light for people born under four different zodiac signs.

On Monday, Mercury entered its retrograde phase, and astrologers forewarned of its potential to disrupt communication, cause technology malfunctions, and lead to travel mishaps.

This retrograde, which extends until July 23, is expected to notably affect Aries, Cancer, Gemini, and Taurus.

Individuals with these signs may find their emotions front and center in the coming weeks. There’s a likelihood that suppressed feelings will re-emerge, conversations can become challenging, and previously resolved home or family situations may resurface.

Putting astrology into perspective, Mercury in retrograde describes an optical illusion from Earth’s viewpoint, where Mercury appears to slow down, halt, and move backward in the sky over a span of approximately three weeks.

This optical illusion occurs because Earth sometimes moves faster in its orbit around the sun than Mercury. As we ‘lap’ the smaller planet, it appears to reverse direction, even though Mercury is still moving along its orbit normally.

However, astrology associates the planets with themes in human life. Mercury is linked to communication, thinking, learning, travel, technology, contracts and daily details.

When the planet closest to the sun appears to be moving backwards, which happens three to four times a year, astrologists claim the flow of Mercury’s energy is disrupted, throwing everything associated with this planet into chaos.

Mercury is moving into the star sign of Cancer, which is considered the home of emotions, family, home, roots, security and nostalgia (Stock Image)

Mercury is moving into the star sign of Cancer, which is considered the home of emotions, family, home, roots, security and nostalgia (Stock Image)

Right now, this backward movement is taking place while Mercury is in the star sign of Cancer, which is linked to emotions, home life, family, memories and feeling safe and secure.

Because of this, the usual Mercury in retrograde mix-ups, such as having trouble communicating your point to someone, feel more emotionally intense and personal during this cycle.

First up to feel this planetary impact is Aries, the first sign in the zodiac. The retrograde is expected to have a strong impact on home and family life for all Aries.

Old secrets and tense issues with a relative’s living situation may resurface in July. Also, words an Aries thinks are meant as criticism may be misinterpreted during the retrograde. An Aries should double-check what someone said before judging.

All of this is taking place because Cancer rules Aries’s ‘fourth house,’ which governs home matters, family issues and emotional foundations.

A ‘house’ in astrology refers to a specific sector of someone’s birth chart that governs different areas of their life, such as career, relationships or money.

Also feeling the weight of Mercury in retrograde is Cancer, the star sign this energy shift is taking place from our perspective on Earth.

This means Cancer’s first house, tied to self-identity, personal style and how you present yourself to the world, will be affected by Mercury’s slowdown.

From Earth's perspective, Mercury (Pictured) has entered retrograde, where it appears to be moving backwards through the sky

From Earth’s perspective, Mercury (Pictured) has entered retrograde, where it appears to be moving backwards through the sky

For Cancers, retrograde could make you feel more introspective or sensitive about how you present yourself to the world.

Old conversations or decisions you have made will likely come back up and give you a chance to take another look at how you handled certain situations.

Another sign doing some serious thinking about their personal life is Gemini. However, the retrograde will impact the second house of Gemini, tied to money, possessions, self-esteem and values.

Geminis will feel themselves reflecting heavily on their finances over the next month, regretting purchases, catching up on old and forgotten bills and potentially questioning their own self-worth.

Valerie Mesa, an astrologer and writer for People, said: ‘Be careful not to spend for comfort or agree to something just because you feel guilty.’

One sign sure to be involved in several frustrating mix-ups and potential travel delays because of poor communication is Taurus.

Since Cancer rules the third house of Taurus, which governs communication, transportation and relationships with siblings, anyone born under the sign of Taurus may find themselves struggling to find their words until July 23.

This will lead to misread texts, saying something before thinking it through, scheduling disasters related to short trips, like on the Fourth of July, and frustrating conversations with brothers or sisters being brought back up.

Following this current three-week stretch, the next and final Mercury retrograde for 2026 is expected to begin on October 24 and run until November 13.

Elle: The Must-Watch ‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Turning Critics into Believers

If the buoyant intellect of Elle Woods in the 2001 blockbuster Legally Blonde taught us anything, it’s that appearances can be deceiving, particularly when wrapped in glittery pink. Fans should keep this in mind as they prepare for Elle, an eight-episode spinoff debuting Wednesday, July 1 on Prime Video. This candy-hued series explores the high school adventures of Woods, portrayed by promising newcomer Lexi Minetree, set in 1995.

This reimagining of Elle’s beginnings follows the delightful tension that arises when the Woods family uproots their lives from the sun-drenched streets of Southern California to the grungier vibe of Seattle. Here, Elle encounters a world of Nirvana music, persistent rain, and an absence of her signature pink.

The series, a creation of Laura Kittrell of Insecure and Black Monday fame, and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon, the original Elle, strikes a balance between nostalgia and novelty. It gives a nod to the films — yes, even beloved Bruiser the dog makes an appearance — while crafting a fresh narrative for Elle to illuminate with her boundless optimism.

Elle

Reese Witherspoon shared some unexpected advice with Lexi Minetree for her portrayal of Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde prequel series. “She advised me, ‘Always choose kindness and never stoop low, even if others do,’” Minetree, 25, revealed to Us Weekly exclusively during the series premiere event in New York City on Tuesday, June […].

Minetree successfully captures the spirit of Witherspoon’s beloved character, not through imitation, but by embodying the essence of Elle Woods. Her depiction of this optimistic adolescent hints at a future where her determination and unique knowledge in beauty care lead her to shine in the legal arena.

Cast Elle Review

Jessica Brooks/Prime Video

Elle’s new world includes her supportive parents, played by Tom Everett Scott and a characteristically wonderful June Diane Raphael (the confessional scenes between mother and daughter are some of the show’s strongest). There are high school friends and frenemies and duh, even a love interest or two. To keep things moving, the season also introduces a central mystery for Elle and her friends to solve — a fitting nod to our protagonist’s future legal career.

It’s surprising that producers resisted the urge to turn this thing into a cameofest — not even Witherspoon appears — but their restraint is a model for all studios in our IP-driven era. Take away the film inspiration, and Elle would still be a warm coming-of-age TV show about the importance of having faith in yourself. Elle Woods is famous for proving doubters wrong, and here, she does it again.

Elle Star Lexi Minetree Reveals How She Prepared for Legally Blonde Prequel Role Reese Witherspoons Advice

Lexi Minetree is grateful she has Reese Witherspoon in her corner while filming the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series Elle. “She’s just the best. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s 10-Hour MSG Wedding Schedule Unveiled

Page Six has the inside scoop on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding at Madison Square Garden, set to span more than 10 hours.

According to insider information, the festivities will begin with a rehearsal dinner on Thursday night at the arena’s Infosys Theater, attended by 100 guests from 6:00 to 10:30 p.m. ET.

On the big day, the schedule kicks off as guests arrive at 3:30 p.m. Cocktails will be served from 4 p.m. on the 6th floor concourse, with the ceremony slated for 5:30 p.m. on the arena floor.

The evening escalates with a reception commencing at 6:30 p.m. and winding down at 2:00 a.m.

Friday’s event is expected to draw a crowd of 1,000 guests.

Page Six confirmed Swift and Kelce, both 36, are set to tie the knot at the New York City-based arena on July 3.

A source revealed that for the couple’s rehearsal dinner at Infosys Theater, the estimated 100 guests will arrive through 4 Penn entrance.

The theater, which holds over 5,000, is a secure location that will help avoid any attention from paparazzi, insiders said.

Ahead of the wedding, various deliveries have made to MSG, with some boxes being labeled “Garden Party,” while workers have been draping the arena with fabric hanging from the ceiling and covering the floors.

Additionally, a red carpet was rolled out on the arena’s entrance steps — and then removed — by workers on Tuesday.

Swift and Kelce are building a massive castle inside the Garden for the wedding, as well, we heard.
