NY Woman Charged with Financing Palestinian Terrorism After Celebrating Hamas Attack Day

0

A woman from New York has been apprehended after allegedly channeling significant sums of money to a Palestinian militant group. Accused of spearheading a radical extremist organization and being photographed holding hand grenades in front of a Hamas flag, she is now facing serious charges.

Catherine Beth Washburn, aged 37 and hailing from Irondequoit, near Rochester, has been indicted on charges of attempting to supply material assistance to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which is recognized as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. A conviction could lead to a maximum of 20 years in a federal penitentiary, along with a $250,000 penalty.

According to the Justice Department, Washburn is identified as the leader of the Direct Action Movement for Palestinian Liberation (DAMPL), a radical group established following Hamas’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The federal complaint highlights that DAMPL dismisses peaceful demonstrations in favor of “direct action,” which encompasses acts such as property destruction and sabotage targeting entities they consider linked to Israel.

Communications recovered by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force revealed messages to a person claiming to be an active PIJ fighter in Gaza, where Washburn allegedly said she hated Jewish people “very much” and wished Israel “would disappear.”

“I wish every day were October 7th,” Washburn is accused of writing in one exchange. “If I lived in Gaza, I would fight alongside the resistance.”

Later, she allegedly said she felt “excited every time I see news of the killing of an occupation soldier.”

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo said Washburn went to “great lengths” to finance violence, driven by “her self-described hate of Israel and Jewish people.”

Financial records show she sent roughly 80 cryptocurrency transfers totaling more than $30,000 to an account used by the PIJ fighter.

In a November 2025 message, she allegedly joked about the illicit activities, writing, “Based on my passed [sic] fundraising and posting Im [sic] gonna get put away for a few life times,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

FBI Counterterrorism Division Acting Assistant Director Coult Markovsky said anyone who provides assistance to violent organizations will be held responsible.

“This individual, as alleged in the criminal complaint, provided money to a foreign terrorist organization engaged in acts of violence,” Markovsky said. “The FBI is committed to cutting off funding to terrorist groups and will continue to work side-by-side with our Justice Department partners to make sure anyone who engages in terrorism or provides assistance to such organizations is held fully accountable in our justice system.”

Suspended WNBA Star Speaks Out Against Racial Abuse After Controversial Foul

0

Following an incident involving Indiana Fever’s standout player Caitlin Clark, Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas has reported receiving racial abuse and threats directed at her family.

The controversy erupted during Phoenix’s victory in Indianapolis last Wednesday. Clark found herself on the floor beneath a pile of players during a tussle for a loose ball. During this scuffle, Thomas’s closed fist inadvertently struck Clark, causing her visible discomfort. Despite continuing to play for some time, Clark ultimately left the game due to a flare-up of a pre-existing back injury.

Although officials did not call a foul on Thomas during the game, the aftermath saw her suspended as public outcry over the incident grew. Returning to practice after missing Saturday’s matchup in Toronto, Thomas addressed the media, expressing her distress over being subjected to racial slurs over what she described as an accidental play.

“Our families are being threatened,” Thomas, who is Black, told journalists on Tuesday. “Children are receiving threats, and people are sending racial slurs and all sorts of offensive messages.”

“There’s a distinction between trolling and outright hatred,” she elaborated. “The hatred we are facing due to a play that was genuinely accidental, where no one even knew what happened until later, is truly unfortunate.”

She also directed frustration at the WNBA and its commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, whom she criticized for being silent on the issue.

‘The league has to do better in this instance,’ Thomas said. ‘Honestly, I didn’t even know I was being suspended until 10 minutes before it was being put on social media. We still have yet to hear anything from Cathy.

‘It’s no surprise. You can see what’s being said on social media. It’s unfortunate, but as usual, she remains silent. That’s unfortunate when our lives are being threatened.

‘Just the whole narrative that’s being painted out there,’ she continued. ‘It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this over basketball.

A lot of us, myself included, didn’t even know the play took place until after the game. And now we’re being painted as thugs. And [there are] death threats out on us, so it’s really unacceptable. It’s something that needs to change in this league, and I’m just really sick and tired of it.’

WNBA spokespeople did not immediately respond to The Daily Mail’s request for comment on Monday evening.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has not responded to the uproar over the foul

Since Wednesday’s controversial foul, Clark’s Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham has accused the Mercury players of being disliked throughout the league, and even within their own organization.

‘You know what’s funny, though? I know people in [the Mercury’s] organization that [say], like, nobody likes their team this year,’ Cunningham said on her podcast. ‘They say that they’re the unfriendliest group. So, we’re not the only ones who feel that way. Internal people feel that way, too.’

Meanwhile, many fans felt Clark was on the receiving end of a cheap shot. Social media was in uproar over the incident, particularly among conservatives, who believe Clark is facing racist discrimination for being white.

‘This is our George Floyd,’ podcaster and fired Buzz Feed reporter Benny Johnson wrote on X, referring to the African-American man whose 2020 murder by Minneapolis police sparked nationwide protests.

One of Johnson’s followers responded: ‘Charge that girl with assault, attempted murder and hate crime.’

Conservative blogger David Burke shared an AI-doctored clip of the foul, which exaggerated the violence and distorted Thomas’ appearance. He also linked the incident on the fatal neck compression Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin performed by kneeling on Floyd’s throat.

‘I seem to recall 1000’s of hours of media focus about the pressure applied to George Floyd’s neck and how vulnerable the human neck is to injury,’ Burke wrote.

Others linked the foul to Thomas’ fiancée and teammate, DeWanna Bonner.

‘Alyssa Thomas and her lesbian lover DeWanna Bonner hate Clark,’ Outkick.com’s Jon Root wrote on X.

Many others followed similar attacks.

‘They hate her because she’s white and straight,’ one X user wrote of Clark.

Hilton Head Upgrades Surveillance with Advanced Cameras at Coligny Beach and Parks

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Hilton Head Island is set to bolster surveillance measures by installing upgraded cameras at Coligny Beach, Coligny Beach Park, and Lowcountry Celebration Park.

“The new cameras will be equipped with artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology,” said Bob Bromage, the public safety director for Hilton Head Island.

Bromage mentioned that the decision resulted from a comprehensive security review conducted in collaboration with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

“The sheriff’s office provided insights and suggested that we enhance our technology,” Bromage explained, indicating that these recommendations played a key role in the island’s decision to upgrade its surveillance capabilities.

For several years, cameras have been a fixture in these areas. However, a series of incidents, particularly along the beach and at its entrance, prompted a reassessment of security needs, Bromage noted.

“Over the past several years, we’ve had increased complaints of juveniles and young adults and large groups gathering, fighting, bringing handguns to the beach, doing drugs, alcohol and underage drinking. So that’s what kind of led to where we’re at right now,” Bromage said.

That study showed the need to add better visibility and take away potential blind spots in a very busy area, especially during the summer.

“People are a little less comfortable when they know they’re being monitored. And we’re talking about people doing something wrong. So we’re looking to not just displace the problem but dissipate the problem,” said Bromage.

Some people have brought up privacy concerns that come with those new cameras.

Bromage says the footage will only be available to authorized members of town staff and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. It will be kept for two weeks, and only when a crime is committed or safety is compromised.

“We have better things to do than monitor families on vacation,” said Bromage. “We, of course, love tourism. We love our residents enjoying the beach, but we want to improve their safety as well. So we’re not watching them. We’re not watching the people who are doing nothing wrong. We’re watching people who are out there at midnight drinking, brandishing handguns.”

Recently, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office moved its portable camera onto Coligny Beach in response to recent incidents.

The new and improved cameras cost $190,000 from the town’s capital improvement projects budget. They are being installed starting this week. The project will be finished in the next 90 days.

Exposed: Woman Illegally Livestreams 700 Hours from Ex-Husband’s Ring Camera

In an eyebrow-raising case out of California, Rayna Bell has come forward, admitting her role in a shocking invasion of privacy. Court documents reveal that she commandeered her ex-husband’s Ring cameras, turning them into a tool to conduct over 700 hours of unauthorized surveillance on him and his family within their own home.

Last week, Bell entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of eavesdropping using an electronic device, as recorded in official court proceedings. As part of a plea agreement, she has been ordered to make financial amends and must spend a day in custody, for which she was granted credit for time already served, in addition to observing a one-year probation period.

Her ex-husband, in response, sought a “domestic violence restraining order,” the details of which were obtained by local NBC affiliate KNSD. This document accused Bell of the unlawful breach of his private security system last year, highlighting how she audaciously linked his Ring camera account to six Amazon Alexa devices that were registered in her own name.

The restraining order filing underscored the extent of the privacy breach, stating, “[Bell] viewed video footage for approximately 44,640 minutes — an average of 12 hours per day — over the span of two months.” It detailed disturbing intrusions, including cameras placed inside children’s rooms, flagging her actions as a grave violation of both the familial privacy and the household’s security.

The ex-husband and his family told KNSD they first noticed something was wrong after hearing a voice coming from one of the cameras.

“It was his ex-wife’s voice,” recounted the man’s fiancee, Acacia Young. “We tried so hard to try to restore the peace, the security, the privacy. Once you are robbed of that, it’s almost impossible to try to restore that in your home.”

According to the restraining order request, the footage that Bell “live viewed” and recorded included “deeply personal and private moments, such as my fiancee breastfeeding our newborn, nudity and partially undressed footage of our children … in vulnerable settings.”

The recordings were “deeply invasive” and deemed as possible child exploitation by the ex-husband, according to KNSD.

“[Bell] also accessed and recorded confidential household conversations, including private discussions between my fiancée and me regarding our finances, credit card numbers, banking details, Social Security information, medical records, medical health history, and other protected health and identity-related data,” the request charged. “Her conduct constitutes a serious invasion of privacy and potential identity theft.”

Bell did not respond to KNSD’s requests for comment. Her ex-husband plans to take legal action against her in civil court.

“You’re always going to feel like they can do it again,” Young said. “Or if they had the opportunity, they would do it again.”

Homeless Woman Charged in Broken Bottle Stabbing Incident

0

Report by Staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the early hours today, Sierra Janae Reynolds, 25, found herself under arrest. She’s accused of assaulting a woman with a broken glass bottle at Campus Walk Apartments.

Around 10:50 p.m. on June 29, officers from the Gainesville Police Department arrived at Campus Walk Apartments located at 914 SW 8th Avenue. When they arrived, the victim explained she had been visiting her sister and got involved in an argument with another woman over a past incident. During this exchange, she noticed Reynolds smashing a liquor bottle against the building and holding the jagged end.

Although the argument with the witness was unrelated to Reynolds, it spiraled into a physical altercation. At that moment, the victim felt blood beginning to drip down her face, prompting her to quickly seek refuge in her sister’s apartment.

Witnesses on the scene confirmed to officers that they observed Reynolds breaking a bottle before advancing toward the victim.

The witness who was involved in the fight told an officer that she saw Reynolds break a bottle and swing the broken neck at the victim two or three times. She said that after Reynolds hit the victim, she took the broken bottle neck from Reynolds and threw it on the ground. She said Reynolds was not provoked by anyone, and she did not know why Reynolds attacked the victim. She also said she knows Reynolds well, and earlier in the day, she had heard Reynolds talking about cutting someone.

GPD’s Forensic Crime Unit reportedly found a shattered vodka bottle in the walkway, with the broken bottle neck about 10 feet away; blood was spattered throughout two apartments.

Post Miranda, Reynolds reportedly said she didn’t remember anything except that she was going to a friend’s house and then saw blood everywhere. However, she later changed her story and said she had drunk an entire bottle of vodka that evening, and after finishing the bottle, she kept it for protection. The officer noted that she did not specify what she was protecting herself from, but she stated repeatedly that she kept the bottle for protection.

Reynolds also reportedly said that she broke the vodka bottle while the victim and the witness were arguing, and then she swung it several times in an attempt to get everyone’s attention and stop the argument. She said someone grabbed the broken bottle neck from her, but she could not say who it was.

When she was asked whether she had hit the victim with the broken bottle neck, Reynolds reportedly said she did not remember hitting anyone because she may have “blacked out.” She said she takes medication for a mental health diagnosis, but she was unable to identify the medication. She said she did not intend to hurt anyone and was just trying to stop the fight.

The victim sustained injuries to her forehead and chest and required 11 stitches.

Reynolds, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She has no local criminal history; more information about her criminal history and her bail amount will be available on Wednesday.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

FBI Arrests USPS Employee for Threatening Mass Shooting at Texas Pride Event

A United States Postal Service (USPS) employee was apprehended on Sunday following a social media threat to carry out a mass shooting at a Pride parade in Texas, as per an announcement from the FBI on Monday.

Michael Thompson, a resident of Clovis, New Mexico, was detained after a tip-off alerted authorities to a potential mass casualty incident planned for a Pride event in Lubbock, Texas.

“This weekend’s arrest in Lubbock, Texas, exemplifies the exemplary teamwork between the FBI and our law enforcement partners, effectively averting a potentially lethal attack,” stated FBI Director Kash Patel. “Our agents, intelligence teams, and state and local partners in Texas acted promptly and thwarted the plan before any harm could occur.”

Authorities reported that Thompson confessed to posting and later deleting the threatening messages on social media. He also confirmed his employment with the USPS. News outlets have contacted the USPS seeking a statement.

Authorities said they recovered four firearms from Thompson’s residence. He is legally prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior felony domestic violence conviction, according to the FBI.

Thompson is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm as well as transmitting threatening interstate communications.

“More lives saved thanks to good cops being cops,” Patel added.

Investigators continued to interview Thompson on Monday, and he was expected to make his initial court appearance later that day.

Lubbock hosted its LubbockPRIDE festival over the weekend without incident, according to local reports.

“Yesterday was filled with so much love, fun, and community, and we couldn’t have asked for a better celebration,” organizers wrote on Facebook following the event. “Thank you to everyone who came out and made it so special!”

In a separate incident in Brunswick, Georgia, a man was arrested earlier this month after police said he threatened to attack attendees at a local LGBTQ+ Pride event. Christopher Waller, 25, was charged with making terroristic threats stemming from comments posted in a local Facebook group on June 9.

Transgender Palestine Flag Creates Stir at Seattle Pride Parade

0

Seattle’s Pride Parade, celebrating its 50th anniversary, has found itself at the center of a heated debate after a participant was seen with a flag that merged elements from the transgender and Palestinian flags.

The parade saw nearly 300,000 people gathering in downtown Seattle, commemorating decades of activism and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Washington state.

On Sunday, conservative outlet TPUSA Frontlines posted a video on X appearing to show a woman marching with the Seattle Mariners’ official Pride contingent, igniting fierce debate online.

A video captured during the event reveals the woman alongside others as she marched with the distinctive hybrid flag, intermingling with those who were carrying traditional, smaller Pride flags.

This footage quickly amassed over half a million views and attracted hundreds of comments. Many criticized the flag, calling it ‘stupid,’ and highlighted the treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals in Gaza as a point of contention.

In Gaza, homosexuality is still criminalized under a law dating back to the British Mandate in 1936, according to The Human Dignity Trust, and reports indicate that this regulation remains enforced.

The offense carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, though it applies only to sexual activity between men.

But the long-running event featured strong expressions of support for the Palestinian cause, with Seattle Pride issuing a statement backing Palestinians and calling for a ceasefire.

In a statement shared Tuesday, the organization wrote: ‘Seattle Pride stands in unwavering solidarity with Palestinian people, who are undergoing a genocide.’

‘Since October, more than 37,000 Palestinians have been killed, and thousands are lying underneath the rubble, following more than 70 years of systemic oppression, occupation and apartheid,’ it added.

‘Criticizing the actions of the state of Israel is not tantamount to discrimination against Jewish people, as Jewish people are not synonymous with the Israeli government.’

Several pro-Palestinian and Jewish advocacy groups took part in the march, but the short clip still triggered intense controversy, with critics highlighting conditions for LGBTQ+ people in Palestinian territories.

The law remains in force in Gaza, but is not enforced elsewhere in Palestine, with little evidence of it being actively applied and appearing largely obsolete in practice.

Same-sex sexual activity between men was decriminalized in the West Bank in 1951, with several LGBTQ civil society organizations later emerging in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, according to a report published by Outright International.

Registering as openly LGBTQ, however, remains challenging.

Enforcement has been rare, though it has been reported on a few occasions. In a 2017 case, an author was allegedly threatened with prosecution over a novel containing LGBT themes, according to The Human Dignity Trust.

The video quickly drew more than half a million views and hundreds of comments, with many labeling the display as 'stupid' and pointing to how LGBTQ+ people are treated in Gaza

In February 2017, the Palestinian Attorney General reportedly attempted to prosecute writer Abbad Yahya while also banning his novel, Crime in Ramallah.

Yahya was accused of threatening morality and public decency through his work, which explored themes of politics, religion and homosexuality through its protagonists, according to the outlet.

In 2019, Palestinian police banned LGBTQ groups from holding events and activities in the West Bank, a move later reversed after intense backlash.

According to Outright International, Palestinian-led organizations have also faced challenges registering in Israel.

The UK FCDO Human Rights and Democracy Report from 2022 found that attacks on people perceived to have links to the LGBT+ community increased in the West Bank.

In June of that year, members of a Fatah-affiliated movement stormed a concert organized by an LGBT+ Palestinian artist.

The following month, a theater festival with British, Swedish and Irish nationals was attacked after a street parade was mistaken for a Pride event, according to the report.

In one of the most violent reported cases in Palestine, police arrested a man suspected of murdering and beheading a 25-year-old gay man, according to the BBC.

According to the outlet, LGBT activists in Israel, where Ahmed Abu Murkhiya had sought refuge, said the young man had received threats over his sexuality.

Activists said Murkhiya had spent the past two years in Israel waiting for a decision on his asylum application after receiving a number of death threats from his community.

Friends of the victim said he was kidnapped and taken to the West Bank, while his family said he regularly visited the area for work and described the motive as ‘rumors.’

Murkhiya’s decapitated body was later found in the West Bank, with police arresting an unnamed suspect.

Despite scrutiny after the now-viral clip from Seattle’s Pride Parade earlier this week, some supporters rallied behind the decision to display the blended flag.

Many, including the organization, said the display was meant to show solidarity with Palestinians amid ongoing violence in the region and to denounce ‘pinkwashing.’

‘We strongly denounce pinkwashing and homonationalism – propaganda tactics that attempt to justify or distract from state violence and oppression by promoting a facade of LGBTQIA2S+ tolerance,’ the group said in their statement.

‘We reject any attempt to exploit LGBTQIA2S+ rights as a cover for human rights abuses,’ they added.

Seattle Pride’s explanation for the hybrid flag was included in a statement echoing the United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry’s latest report, released on Tuesday.

The report confirmed that Israeli authorities and security forces have ‘deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide and atrocity crimes in the Gaza Strip and war crimes in the West Bank.’

Seattle Pride shared statistics, including that one million Palestinians have fled Rafah since Israel issued ‘evacuation orders’ there on May 6.

‘We echo the United Nations Security Council’s demand for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza,’ the statement read.

‘We also stand against the ongoing genocides happening in Sudan, Myanmar, Congo, Turtle Island, China, Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria and to all Indigenous peoples worldwide.’

The organization also reiterated that they ‘unequivocally’ stand against antisemitism, adding that they ‘firmly reject the notion that supporting the people of Palestine equates to antisemitism.’

‘We are actively in conversation with local queer Palestinian and Jewish organizers to best understand the desired response on a local level,’ they wrote.

‘We have donated to organizations that lead direct relief initiatives for Palestinian people to help ensure that immediate needs are met and essential services are provided to those most affected by the crisis.’

The same figures were included in the UN’s latest report, which covered the period following Hamas’ October 2023 attack on Israel that killed about 1,200 people and resulted in around 250 hostages.

Meanwhile, Israel’s subsequent war in Gaza has killed more than 70,000 Palestinians in the territory, according to the data.

‘Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured, with continued disregard by Israel for the ceasefire and for the protection owed to Palestinian children under international law,’ Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said.

More than 20,000 Palestinian children have been killed and around 44,000 injured since October 7. Reports also described arrests, torture, starvation and severe abuse in Israeli prisons.

Five Essential Tests to Assess Strength, Balance, and Control for Those Over 50

>

As we age, maintaining core strength becomes pivotal in ensuring our bodies function smoothly through daily activities. A robust core not only improves posture and enhances balance but also enables us to move confidently, whether carrying groceries or rising from a seated position. It plays a critical role in spinal support and provides a stable foundation for the movement of hips and shoulders.

Defining “good core strength” can often seem elusive. Having defined abs isn’t the sole indicator, and doing numerous crunches doesn’t always equate to adequate support for your body. Key indicators of core strength include how long you can maintain a position, your ability to resist unnecessary movements, and keeping your core engaged while moving your limbs.

To simplify the assessment of core strength, the following five exercises offer quantifiable measures: front plank, side plank, dead bug, glute bridge hold, and bird dog. Each exercise provides unique insight into your core’s functionality. Successfully executing all five with proper technique signifies a strong core for individuals over 50.

4 Wall Exercises That Restore Leg Strength Faster Than Yoga After 60

Forearm Plank

The forearm plank gives you a clean look at core endurance. Your abs have to brace, your glutes help control your hips, and your shoulders support your upper body. It’s simple, but the clock makes it honest. A strong plank shows you can create tension and hold alignment without needing movement to reset.

How to Do It:

  1. Place your forearms on the floor with your elbows under your shoulders.
  2. Extend your legs behind you with your feet about hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
  4. Hold a straight line from your head to your heels.
  5. Breathe steadily while keeping your hips level.
  6. Stop when your hips drop, your back arches, or your shoulders lose position.

Movement Standard: Your plank counts when your body stays in a straight line, your hips remain level, and your lower back stays neutral.

Goal After 50: Hold for 60 seconds with clean form.

Best Variations: Incline Plank, High Plank, RKC Plank, Stability Ball Plank.

Side Plank

The side plank tests lateral core strength, which helps you stay stable side-to-side. Your obliques, hips, and shoulders all work together to keep your body stacked. This move also challenges each side on its own, which makes it useful for spotting strength gaps between sides.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your side with your legs straight and your feet stacked.
  2. Place your elbow directly under your shoulder.
  3. Brace your core before lifting your hips.
  4. Lift your hips until your body forms a straight line.
  5. Keep your shoulders stacked and your hips level.
  6. Hold the position, then switch sides.

Movement Standard: Your side plank counts when your hips stay lifted, your body stays in a straight line, and your torso doesn’t rotate.

Goal After 50: Hold for 30 seconds per side with clean form.

Best Variations: Bent-Knee Side Plank, Side Plank from Feet, Side Plank with Reach, Elevated Side Plank.

4 Simple Exercises That Strengthen Your Muscles More Than Lunges After 50

Dead Bug

The dead bug looks easy until you slow it down and do it well. It trains your core to hold your ribs and pelvis in position while your arms and legs move. This carries over well to walking, lifting, and any movement where your limbs move while your trunk stays steady.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your arms reaching toward the ceiling.
  2. Lift your knees over your hips with your legs bent at 90 degrees.
  3. Press your lower back gently toward the floor.
  4. Extend one arm and the opposite leg away from your body.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Alternate sides until you complete all reps.

Movement Standard: Each rep counts when your lower back stays down, your ribs stay controlled, and your arm and leg move without rushing.

Goal After 50: Complete 10 controlled reps per side.

Best Variations: Heel Tap Dead Bug, Wall Press Dead Bug, Banded Dead Bug, Weighted Dead Bug.

Glute Bridge Hold

A strong core needs strong hips behind it. The glute bridge hold trains your glutes, hamstrings, and deep core to keep your pelvis steady. It also gives you a simple way to check whether your hips can hold position without shifting the work into your lower back.

How to Do It:

  1. Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat.
  2. Place your feet about hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core before lifting your hips.
  4. Press through your heels and lift your hips.
  5. Squeeze your glutes at the top.
  6. Hold the position while keeping your hips level.

Movement Standard: Your bridge counts when your shoulders, hips, and knees form a straight line and your glutes stay engaged.

Goal After 50: Hold for 60 seconds with steady hips.

Best Variations: Marching Bridge, Single-Leg Bridge, Banded Bridge Hold, Elevated Bridge.

5 Chair Exercises That Restore Knee Strength Faster Than Gym Sessions After 60

Bird Dog

The bird dog tests coordination, balance, and trunk control. Your core has to stay steady while one arm and the opposite leg move. It’s basic, joint-friendly, and useful for training the body to stay organized without a lot of load.

How to Do It:

  1. Start on your hands and knees with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Brace your core and keep your back flat.
  3. Reach one arm forward and the opposite leg back.
  4. Pause briefly with your hips square to the floor.
  5. Return to the starting position with control.
  6. Alternate sides until you complete all reps.

Movement Standard: Each rep counts when your hips stay square, your back stays flat, and your arm and leg move without twisting your torso.

Goal After 50: Complete 10 controlled reps per side.

Best Variations: Bird Dog Hold, Bird Dog Row, Mini-Band Bird Dog, Elbow-to-Knee Bird Dog.

How to Build Core Strength After 50

Core training works best when it stays consistent and clean. You don’t need to turn every session into a long ab circuit. A few focused exercises done well can improve how your midsection supports your spine, hips, and shoulders. The goal is to build control you can use during regular movement, not just during a workout. Start with the versions you can perform well, then add time, reps, or difficulty as your form improves.

  • Train your core three to four times per week: Short sessions work well when the reps stay controlled.
  • Prioritize position first: Good alignment makes each move more useful and keeps the test honest.
  • Use measurable goals: Track hold times, reps per side, and how clean each rep feels.
  • Build both front and side strength: Planks and side planks train different parts of your core.
  • Include hip-focused work: Bridges help your glutes support your pelvis and lower back.
  • Slow the reps down: Controlled movement builds better coordination and tension.
  • Retest every few weeks: Use the same standards so you can see real progress.

If you can complete these five core moves with the listed standards, you’ve built a strong foundation after 50. Your core can brace, stabilize, resist movement, and support the rest of your body through everyday activity.

The much-anticipated transfer window has officially kicked off, remaining open until September 1. This period promises to be bustling with clubs eager to secure marquee signings for the upcoming season. Here’s a rundown of today’s key stories from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

German giants in talks over Burnley defender

RB Leipzig has initiated discussions with Burnley regarding a potential acquisition of their center back, Maxime Esteve.

The Bundesliga club is prepared to make an offer in the region of £21 million for the talented 24-year-old, who has experience playing for France at the Olympic level.

Pandur seals move north of the border

In a completed transfer, Rangers have secured Hull’s goalkeeper Ivor Pandur for £6 million.

Ivor Pandur has left newly-promoted Hull to join Rangers

Following the recent promotion, Ivor Pandur has departed from Hull to take on a new challenge with Rangers.

The 26-year-old, who is at the World Cup with Croatia, has signed a four-year deal.

Pandur kept clean sheets in every play-off game as Hull won promotion to the Premier League.

Jack Butland is close to sealing his £3m switch in the opposite direction.

Butland has made over 150 appearances for Rangers, having previously been at Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

Pandur said: ‘I am honoured and privileged to sign for such a big club with so much history. This club knows how to win and that’s exactly why I am joining Rangers.

‘I can’t wait to hear the noise of Ibrox for the first time and I hope we will be successful together.’

Coventry close on Amenda

Coventry are close to agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for centre back Aurele Amenda.

As Daily Mail Sport reported yesterday, talks have been advancing and the fee is expected to be worth around £17.2million including add-ons.

The 22-year-old is finalising a long-term contract with Coventry ahead of linking up with Frank Lampard’s squad.

Gunners interested in ex-Leeds keeper

Arsenal are showing interest in Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

The 26-year-old is out of contract at Elland Road and expected to leave this summer.

Arsenal cover for David Raya should Kepa Arrizabalaga leave. The Spaniard is understood to have a £5m clause and wants to play more regularly.

Meanwhile, Leeds have confirmed the sale of centre-back Pascal Struijk to Brighton in a deal worth around £18m plus a sell-on clause.

Struijk, who signed on a free from Ajax, has agreed a five-year deal with the Seagulls.

Struijk, who was Leeds’ longest-serving player, was entering the final year of his deal at Elland Road and was offered a significantly improved contract to stay.

However, Leeds respected his desire for a new challenge and sanctioned his move to Brighton.

Leeds said in a statement: ‘Last summer, the decision was taken to keep all key players at Elland Road, to give the club the best possible chance of Premier League survival, with the expectation that player sales would be needed to remain PSR (Profit & Sustainability Rules) compliant over a three-year accounting window ending 30th June 2026.

‘The club’s higher than expected 14th place finish and run to the Emirates FA Cup semi-final vindicated this decision, with the increased income and single sale of Struijk ensuring the club remains within PSR limits.’

Liverpool youngster heading to Wanderers

Liverpool midfielder Luca Stephenson is poised to join Bolton Wanderers in a deal worth £800,000.

Blackburn Rovers had also shown interest but the 22-year-old is due to travel for a medical on Wednesday.

The deal will include a sell on, potentially around 17.5 per cent for the versatile midfielder who spent last two seasons on loan with Dundee United.

Robins consider bid for Orient star

Bristol City are considering a revised bid for Leyton Orient striker Dom Ballard after having an opening offer rejected.

The former Southampton striker enjoyed a sensational campaign for Richie Wellens’ side, winning the League One golden boot with 23 goals as the O’s survived on the final day of the season.

West Ham have also shown interest but their pursuit has been delayed while they await the appointment of Nils Koppen as their new head of recruitment.

Regardless, Bristol City are in pole position while Southampton retain a sell on clause of 22 per cent.

Spurs avoid Balogun after winning race for Fernandes

Tottenham are not pursuing a move for Monaco forward Folarin Balogun.

The former Arsenal striker has interest from a number of clubs in Europe and the Premier League following his performances last season and his continued form with USA at the World Cup. Arsenal also possess a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause.

However, Tottenham, who have been linked, are looking at other targets. Spurs appear to have won the £85million race for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes after outbidding Manchester United.

United pushed hard to sign Fernandes but there is a firm belief they will only buy players at the right valuation and players who really want to play for the club.

Tottenham have been aggressive in their pursuit of targets for Roberto de Zerbi and are intent on adding Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali also.

Juventus eye Tottenham goalkeeper Vicario

Juventus are showing an interest in Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Vicario is allowed to leave Spurs this summer after Roberto De Zerbi decided Antonin Kinsky – who recently signed a new five-year deal – would be his long-term No. 1.

Spurs have already acquired former Newcastle United and Burnley shot-stopper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer to play understudy to Kinsky, leaving Vicario surplus to requirements.

Speaking to the Italian press, Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali confirmed Vicario is one of several goalkeeper options they are assessing.

Meanwhile, World Cup winner and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is admired. Martinez is under contract at Aston Villa until 2029.
