Unseen Chaos: Inmates Riot in Jail Over Mounting Access Frustrations

0

Missouri authorities have unveiled video footage along with a comprehensive 100-page report detailing a riot that broke out in February at a county jail. During the disturbance, 34 inmates managed to seize control of a housing unit temporarily, causing damage in response to issues with phone and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The incident, recorded by surveillance cameras on February 7, began when inmates at the St. Louis County Justice Center voiced their dissatisfaction over limited phone access, poor Wi-Fi connections, and restricted time outside their cells. The inmates refused to return to their cells, as reported by FOX 2 Now.

Initially a peaceful protest, the situation escalated as inmates’ frustration led to more disruptive behavior, according to the report. Officials attributed the chaos primarily to a serious shortage of staff.

“This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of jail environments and underscores the crucial role played by corrections officers,” stated Captain Tim Ware, acting director of the St. Louis County Department of Justice Services. “The unrest can be directly linked to our staffing deficiencies, which forced us to impose restrictions on inmate movements.”

The surveillance footage captured the uproar within the Missouri-based St. Louis County jail, where inmates expressed anger over the lack of phone service, Wi-Fi issues, and limited time outside their cells, according to officials.

As corrections officers tried to de-escalate the situation, inmates barricaded the entrance of the housing unit with common area furniture.

“They tried to de-escalate with the residents and that was not working; the residents moved some furniture and barricaded the door,” Ware said.

At one point, an inmate used a basketball to knock down a mounted security camera. The inmates also broke televisions, a commissary kiosk, and parts of the ceiling, Spectrum News reported.

Total damages climbed past $30,800, according to St. Louis County records.

Authorities eventually deployed chemical agents to safely secure the area. Out of the 34 inmates involved, criminal charges for four “main actors” have been turned over to the Clayton Police Department and the county prosecutor for review, Ware noted.

In response to the incident, county leaders approved $3 million in emergency funding for medical services to better support the nearly 1,200 inmates housed in the facility.

In addition, officials are actively looking to fill approximately 80 correctional officer vacancies.

To prevent future disturbances, the jail is shifting its operational approach. “We have started extra training… tabletop exercises and physical exercises… so the officers will be prepared to make decisions when something similar happens,” Ware said.

Lawmakers Call for Consumer Protections Against AI Agent Risks

0

As artificial intelligence becomes more prevalent within the U.S. economy, Senator Mark Warner is aiming to regulate AI agents, the autonomous bots that assist consumers with tasks like booking travel arrangements and online shopping.

The Virginia senator, a Democrat, is backing a pioneering draft of legislation known as the Artificial Intelligence Access, Gatekeeper Exchange and Nondiscriminatory Transfer Act, or AI Agent Act. This proposed law includes privacy and security elements designed to safeguard both consumers and businesses against the potential hazards of AI utilization.

“As agentic AI reshapes how Americans engage with technology, it’s essential that consumers have authentic choices in the market, and that AI agents are held accountable to those they serve,” Warner stated on Monday. “This discussion draft marks a significant step towards creating a straightforward federal framework that fosters innovation, shields consumers, and ensures America’s leadership in emerging technologies.”

The AI Agent Act aims to lay down the rights and duties of AI agents accessing major online platforms, guaranteeing they operate in the user’s best interest. It also calls for the establishment of a Federal Trade Commission registry for trustworthy AI agents to prevent consumers from sharing personal data with potentially risky bots.

“An AI agent privileged with access to a user’s sensitive information and permissions—such as email, e-commerce profiles, and credit cards—must act in a manner akin to a fiduciary to safeguard users,” according to a summary of the draft proposal.

The measure would also require AI agents to protect users’ privacy and any data they collect, to act “in a user’s best interest,” and to protect businesses from being exploited by unauthorized AI agents.

Warner is releasing the draft bill to solicit feedback from stakeholders and the public before formally introducing it, he said.

The use of AI-powered shopping assistants could account for up to $385 billion of U.S. e-commerce sales by 2030, according to Morgan Stanley.

DCLM Daily Manna 1 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Genuine Burden

TOPIC: Genuine Burden (DCLM Daily Manna 1 July 2026)

KEY VERSE: Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved – Romans 10:1

TEXT: Romans 10:1-4 (KJV)

1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Augustine of Hippo, one of Christianity’s most influential theologians, lived a wild and dissolute life in his youth. He embraced Manichaeism, a dualistic religion, and lived a life far from God. His mother, Monica, was a devout Christian. For over seventeen years, she unceasingly prayed for his salvation. She followed him, wept over him, and sought out bishops and spiritual leaders to intercede. Wary of her persistence, one bishop finally told her, “Go, your son will be saved; the son of so many tears cannot perish.” Monica’s burden for her son was so profound that it drove her to relentless prayer and tears. She didn’t give up, even when Augustine seemed furthest from God. Her burden for his salvation ultimately led to his dramatic conversion, a testament to the power of a heart burdened in prayer.

Before the 4th century, when the prayer and burden of Augustine’s mother eventually led to his conversion, Paul the apostle had shown us what it means to demonstrate that heartfelt desire and burden for the salvation of our people. The fervour was unmistakable, his zeal knew no bounds, and his passion was infectious. Israel’s lack of understanding led them to establish their own standards of righteousness and remain in darkness. Israel was doubtlessly religious but ignorant of God’s provision for salvation. Yet, Paul the apostle never gave up on them. Today, many still demonstrate zeal for God without true knowledge, which leads to a futile pursuit of righteousness.

As believers, our passion should align with Paul’s—praying fervently and working tirelessly to save those still wallowing in self-righteousness. We must share the gospel with love, guiding seekers, including our relatives and fellow citizens, away from the path of destruction. We must lovingly point them to Christ, the Saviour of the world. Do not write them off. The provision of Christ on the cross at Calvary is also available for their redemption today. Supplicate, intercede, and go after them with genuine concern and love; the Lord will have mercy on them. The time to start is now.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Burden begets salvation breakthroughs

Tim Hardaway Jr. Signs with Miami Heat to Boost Giannis Antetokounmpo Partnership

0

The Miami Heat continue to make bold moves this offseason.

Barely over a week since their major trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Heat have struck another deal by signing Tim Hardaway Jr. to a one-year contract worth $6.5 million, according to a report by ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday.

Hardaway was previously identified by NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer as a top priority for the Heat during the offseason player acquisitions.

At 34 years old, the veteran guard comes to Miami after playing last season with the Denver Nuggets. Throughout his career, Hardaway has also been part of the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, and Detroit Pistons.

Hardaway initially made his mark in college basketball, excelling over three years at the University of Michigan. He consistently scored over 13 points per game, leading to his selection by the Knicks in the 2013 NBA Draft.

Hardaway’s first stint in New York was a mixed bag, as he displayed brilliance from beyond the arc but struggled to be consistent. He averaged nearly 11 points per game over his first two seasons with the Knicks.

He then joined the Hawks for two years before returning to the Knicks for a second stint from 2017-19, where he saw increased minutes despite poor efficiency.

In the Knicks’ woeful 17-65 season in 2018-19, Hardaway averaged a career-high 19.1 points per game despite shooting just 38.8 percent from the field.

Hardaway then spent the next five years with the Mavericks and Luka Doncic from 2019-24, and he averaged between 14 and 17 points per game each season while becoming a solid 3-point shooter.

Following one season with the Pistons, Hardaway averaged 13.5 points per game with the Nuggets last season, though he started just six games.

Hardaway brings much-needed shooting to a forward-heavy team with Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Bobby Portis and Andrew Wiggins.

After losing to the Hornets in the play-in round, the Heat continue to make moves this offseason in hopes of competing with the Eastern Conference’s best.

NY Woman Charged with Financing Palestinian Terrorism After Celebrating Hamas Attack Day

0

A woman from New York has been apprehended after allegedly channeling significant sums of money to a Palestinian militant group. Accused of spearheading a radical extremist organization and being photographed holding hand grenades in front of a Hamas flag, she is now facing serious charges.

Catherine Beth Washburn, aged 37 and hailing from Irondequoit, near Rochester, has been indicted on charges of attempting to supply material assistance to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which is recognized as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. A conviction could lead to a maximum of 20 years in a federal penitentiary, along with a $250,000 penalty.

According to the Justice Department, Washburn is identified as the leader of the Direct Action Movement for Palestinian Liberation (DAMPL), a radical group established following Hamas’s attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023.

The federal complaint highlights that DAMPL dismisses peaceful demonstrations in favor of “direct action,” which encompasses acts such as property destruction and sabotage targeting entities they consider linked to Israel.

Communications recovered by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force revealed messages to a person claiming to be an active PIJ fighter in Gaza, where Washburn allegedly said she hated Jewish people “very much” and wished Israel “would disappear.”

“I wish every day were October 7th,” Washburn is accused of writing in one exchange. “If I lived in Gaza, I would fight alongside the resistance.”

Later, she allegedly said she felt “excited every time I see news of the killing of an occupation soldier.”

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo said Washburn went to “great lengths” to finance violence, driven by “her self-described hate of Israel and Jewish people.”

Financial records show she sent roughly 80 cryptocurrency transfers totaling more than $30,000 to an account used by the PIJ fighter.

In a November 2025 message, she allegedly joked about the illicit activities, writing, “Based on my passed [sic] fundraising and posting Im [sic] gonna get put away for a few life times,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.

FBI Counterterrorism Division Acting Assistant Director Coult Markovsky said anyone who provides assistance to violent organizations will be held responsible.

“This individual, as alleged in the criminal complaint, provided money to a foreign terrorist organization engaged in acts of violence,” Markovsky said. “The FBI is committed to cutting off funding to terrorist groups and will continue to work side-by-side with our Justice Department partners to make sure anyone who engages in terrorism or provides assistance to such organizations is held fully accountable in our justice system.”

Suspended WNBA Star Speaks Out Against Racial Abuse After Controversial Foul

0

Following an incident involving Indiana Fever’s standout player Caitlin Clark, Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas has reported receiving racial abuse and threats directed at her family.

The controversy erupted during Phoenix’s victory in Indianapolis last Wednesday. Clark found herself on the floor beneath a pile of players during a tussle for a loose ball. During this scuffle, Thomas’s closed fist inadvertently struck Clark, causing her visible discomfort. Despite continuing to play for some time, Clark ultimately left the game due to a flare-up of a pre-existing back injury.

Although officials did not call a foul on Thomas during the game, the aftermath saw her suspended as public outcry over the incident grew. Returning to practice after missing Saturday’s matchup in Toronto, Thomas addressed the media, expressing her distress over being subjected to racial slurs over what she described as an accidental play.

“Our families are being threatened,” Thomas, who is Black, told journalists on Tuesday. “Children are receiving threats, and people are sending racial slurs and all sorts of offensive messages.”

“There’s a distinction between trolling and outright hatred,” she elaborated. “The hatred we are facing due to a play that was genuinely accidental, where no one even knew what happened until later, is truly unfortunate.”

She also directed frustration at the WNBA and its commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, whom she criticized for being silent on the issue.

‘The league has to do better in this instance,’ Thomas said. ‘Honestly, I didn’t even know I was being suspended until 10 minutes before it was being put on social media. We still have yet to hear anything from Cathy.

‘It’s no surprise. You can see what’s being said on social media. It’s unfortunate, but as usual, she remains silent. That’s unfortunate when our lives are being threatened.

‘Just the whole narrative that’s being painted out there,’ she continued. ‘It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this over basketball.

A lot of us, myself included, didn’t even know the play took place until after the game. And now we’re being painted as thugs. And [there are] death threats out on us, so it’s really unacceptable. It’s something that needs to change in this league, and I’m just really sick and tired of it.’

WNBA spokespeople did not immediately respond to The Daily Mail’s request for comment on Monday evening.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has not responded to the uproar over the foul

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has not responded to the uproar over the foul

Since Wednesday’s controversial foul, Clark’s Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham has accused the Mercury players of being disliked throughout the league, and even within their own organization.

‘You know what’s funny, though? I know people in [the Mercury’s] organization that [say], like, nobody likes their team this year,’ Cunningham said on her podcast. ‘They say that they’re the unfriendliest group. So, we’re not the only ones who feel that way. Internal people feel that way, too.’

Meanwhile, many fans felt Clark was on the receiving end of a cheap shot. Social media was in uproar over the incident, particularly among conservatives, who believe Clark is facing racist discrimination for being white.

‘This is our George Floyd,’ podcaster and fired Buzz Feed reporter Benny Johnson wrote on X, referring to the African-American man whose 2020 murder by Minneapolis police sparked nationwide protests.

One of Johnson’s followers responded: ‘Charge that girl with assault, attempted murder and hate crime.’

Conservative blogger David Burke shared an AI-doctored clip of the foul, which exaggerated the violence and distorted Thomas’ appearance. He also linked the incident on the fatal neck compression Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin performed by kneeling on Floyd’s throat.

‘I seem to recall 1000’s of hours of media focus about the pressure applied to George Floyd’s neck and how vulnerable the human neck is to injury,’ Burke wrote.

Others linked the foul to Thomas’ fiancée and teammate, DeWanna Bonner.

‘Alyssa Thomas and her lesbian lover DeWanna Bonner hate Clark,’ Outkick.com’s Jon Root wrote on X.

Many others followed similar attacks.

‘They hate her because she’s white and straight,’ one X user wrote of Clark.

Hilton Head Upgrades Surveillance with Advanced Cameras at Coligny Beach and Parks

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Hilton Head Island is set to bolster surveillance measures by installing upgraded cameras at Coligny Beach, Coligny Beach Park, and Lowcountry Celebration Park.

“The new cameras will be equipped with artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology,” said Bob Bromage, the public safety director for Hilton Head Island.

Bromage mentioned that the decision resulted from a comprehensive security review conducted in collaboration with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

“The sheriff’s office provided insights and suggested that we enhance our technology,” Bromage explained, indicating that these recommendations played a key role in the island’s decision to upgrade its surveillance capabilities.

For several years, cameras have been a fixture in these areas. However, a series of incidents, particularly along the beach and at its entrance, prompted a reassessment of security needs, Bromage noted.

“Over the past several years, we’ve had increased complaints of juveniles and young adults and large groups gathering, fighting, bringing handguns to the beach, doing drugs, alcohol and underage drinking. So that’s what kind of led to where we’re at right now,” Bromage said.

That study showed the need to add better visibility and take away potential blind spots in a very busy area, especially during the summer.

“People are a little less comfortable when they know they’re being monitored. And we’re talking about people doing something wrong. So we’re looking to not just displace the problem but dissipate the problem,” said Bromage.

Some people have brought up privacy concerns that come with those new cameras.

Bromage says the footage will only be available to authorized members of town staff and the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office. It will be kept for two weeks, and only when a crime is committed or safety is compromised.

“We have better things to do than monitor families on vacation,” said Bromage. “We, of course, love tourism. We love our residents enjoying the beach, but we want to improve their safety as well. So we’re not watching them. We’re not watching the people who are doing nothing wrong. We’re watching people who are out there at midnight drinking, brandishing handguns.”

Recently, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office moved its portable camera onto Coligny Beach in response to recent incidents.

The new and improved cameras cost $190,000 from the town’s capital improvement projects budget. They are being installed starting this week. The project will be finished in the next 90 days.

Exposed: Woman Illegally Livestreams 700 Hours from Ex-Husband’s Ring Camera

In an eyebrow-raising case out of California, Rayna Bell has come forward, admitting her role in a shocking invasion of privacy. Court documents reveal that she commandeered her ex-husband’s Ring cameras, turning them into a tool to conduct over 700 hours of unauthorized surveillance on him and his family within their own home.

Last week, Bell entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of eavesdropping using an electronic device, as recorded in official court proceedings. As part of a plea agreement, she has been ordered to make financial amends and must spend a day in custody, for which she was granted credit for time already served, in addition to observing a one-year probation period.

Her ex-husband, in response, sought a “domestic violence restraining order,” the details of which were obtained by local NBC affiliate KNSD. This document accused Bell of the unlawful breach of his private security system last year, highlighting how she audaciously linked his Ring camera account to six Amazon Alexa devices that were registered in her own name.

The restraining order filing underscored the extent of the privacy breach, stating, “[Bell] viewed video footage for approximately 44,640 minutes — an average of 12 hours per day — over the span of two months.” It detailed disturbing intrusions, including cameras placed inside children’s rooms, flagging her actions as a grave violation of both the familial privacy and the household’s security.

The ex-husband and his family told KNSD they first noticed something was wrong after hearing a voice coming from one of the cameras.

“It was his ex-wife’s voice,” recounted the man’s fiancee, Acacia Young. “We tried so hard to try to restore the peace, the security, the privacy. Once you are robbed of that, it’s almost impossible to try to restore that in your home.”

According to the restraining order request, the footage that Bell “live viewed” and recorded included “deeply personal and private moments, such as my fiancee breastfeeding our newborn, nudity and partially undressed footage of our children … in vulnerable settings.”

The recordings were “deeply invasive” and deemed as possible child exploitation by the ex-husband, according to KNSD.

“[Bell] also accessed and recorded confidential household conversations, including private discussions between my fiancée and me regarding our finances, credit card numbers, banking details, Social Security information, medical records, medical health history, and other protected health and identity-related data,” the request charged. “Her conduct constitutes a serious invasion of privacy and potential identity theft.”

Bell did not respond to KNSD’s requests for comment. Her ex-husband plans to take legal action against her in civil court.

“You’re always going to feel like they can do it again,” Young said. “Or if they had the opportunity, they would do it again.”

Homeless Woman Charged in Broken Bottle Stabbing Incident

0

Report by Staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In the early hours today, Sierra Janae Reynolds, 25, found herself under arrest. She’s accused of assaulting a woman with a broken glass bottle at Campus Walk Apartments.

Around 10:50 p.m. on June 29, officers from the Gainesville Police Department arrived at Campus Walk Apartments located at 914 SW 8th Avenue. When they arrived, the victim explained she had been visiting her sister and got involved in an argument with another woman over a past incident. During this exchange, she noticed Reynolds smashing a liquor bottle against the building and holding the jagged end.

Although the argument with the witness was unrelated to Reynolds, it spiraled into a physical altercation. At that moment, the victim felt blood beginning to drip down her face, prompting her to quickly seek refuge in her sister’s apartment.

Witnesses on the scene confirmed to officers that they observed Reynolds breaking a bottle before advancing toward the victim.

The witness who was involved in the fight told an officer that she saw Reynolds break a bottle and swing the broken neck at the victim two or three times. She said that after Reynolds hit the victim, she took the broken bottle neck from Reynolds and threw it on the ground. She said Reynolds was not provoked by anyone, and she did not know why Reynolds attacked the victim. She also said she knows Reynolds well, and earlier in the day, she had heard Reynolds talking about cutting someone.

GPD’s Forensic Crime Unit reportedly found a shattered vodka bottle in the walkway, with the broken bottle neck about 10 feet away; blood was spattered throughout two apartments.

Post Miranda, Reynolds reportedly said she didn’t remember anything except that she was going to a friend’s house and then saw blood everywhere. However, she later changed her story and said she had drunk an entire bottle of vodka that evening, and after finishing the bottle, she kept it for protection. The officer noted that she did not specify what she was protecting herself from, but she stated repeatedly that she kept the bottle for protection.

Reynolds also reportedly said that she broke the vodka bottle while the victim and the witness were arguing, and then she swung it several times in an attempt to get everyone’s attention and stop the argument. She said someone grabbed the broken bottle neck from her, but she could not say who it was.

When she was asked whether she had hit the victim with the broken bottle neck, Reynolds reportedly said she did not remember hitting anyone because she may have “blacked out.” She said she takes medication for a mental health diagnosis, but she was unable to identify the medication. She said she did not intend to hurt anyone and was just trying to stop the fight.

The victim sustained injuries to her forehead and chest and required 11 stitches.

Reynolds, whose address is listed as GRACE Marketplace, has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She has no local criminal history; more information about her criminal history and her bail amount will be available on Wednesday.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
