A heated dispute in Idaho took a violent turn when Melvin Blackburn, frustrated about having to walk home from the hospital, attacked a woman with nunchucks. The woman, who Blackburn lived with, had refused to pick him up, sparking the altercation, according to local authorities.

Blackburn, a 67-year-old resident of Blackfoot, allegedly confronted the woman upon his return, as reported by the East Idaho News. Citing court documents, the report reveals that Blackburn had visited the hospital the previous evening, claiming he had been punched by the woman during an altercation.

After receiving medical attention, Blackburn walked back home, where he soon found himself embroiled in an argument with the woman. Police reports indicate that during the heated exchange, Blackburn retrieved a pair of nunchucks and allegedly assaulted the woman with them.

The woman called 911 and officers were dispatched to the home, where they found the woman with bruises on her arm and back. Blackburn allegedly claimed he used the nunchucks to defend himself from the woman after she attacked him upon arriving home from the hospital. He said he swung the martial arts weapon at the woman but never actually hit her, according to the court documents obtained by East Idaho News.

Blackburn claims that the woman was upset that he went to the hospital, East Idaho News reports.

Police say Blackburn, whose story allegedly changed several times, had no injuries despite saying he was attacked.

The woman told police Blackburn was sitting on a stool when he started swinging the nunchucks at her. She allegedly knocked him off the stool and ran away, then called police.

Blackburn was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery with an enhancement because of the use of a deadly weapon. He could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted, East Idaho News reports.

Supreme Court Halts Roy Moore’s $8.2 Million Defamation Award Claim from 2017 Campaign Ad

0

On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore’s attempt to secure an $8.2 million defamation payout related to a Democratic ad run during his failed 2017 Senate attempt.

Moore, now 79, petitioned the justices to halt a decision made in April by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. This ruling overturned a 2022 federal jury verdict against the Senate Majority PAC, which is linked to the Democrats.

Justice Clarence Thomas rejected Moore’s urgent request without offering any rationale, which is a standard procedure in similar situations.

Moore, recognized for his staunch opposition to same-sex marriage and advocacy for displaying the Ten Commandments on federal land, had been the GOP candidate in a special election intended to fill the vacancy left by Jeff Sessions. Sessions had stepped down to assume the role of President Trump’s first attorney general.

Even with President Trump’s endorsement in a state he won by 28 points, Moore narrowly lost to Democrat Doug Jones. The defeat came after allegations from three women accusing Moore of sexual assault, with two claiming they were minors at the time of the incidents.

Homeowners Face HOA Backlash Over Flying American Flags Ahead of 250th Birthday Celebrations

0

As the United States gears up for the momentous occasion of its 250th birthday, a community in Southern California finds itself embroiled in controversy over a patriotic symbol. Homeowners in this affluent San Marcos townhome enclave claim they are being threatened with fines by their homeowners association for daring to fly the American flag proudly outside their residences.

In the heart of San Marcos, a community governed by the Ambiance Owners Association is at a crossroads. Residents are standing firm, refusing to take down the Stars and Stripes despite receiving official notices from the association. The determination to display the flag has sparked a standoff that transcends neighborhood borders, questioning how residents can express national pride in their own homes.

San Marcos townhomes, nestled in this complex, are assessed to be valued slightly below a million dollars, according to real estate listings. The community’s affluence, however, does not shield it from rules that have come under scrutiny as potentially curbing the expression of patriotism.

Amy and Chris Cooke

Documentation obtained by News Media brings to light that this impasse stretches back at least three years. A significant moment came in May 2023 when the association sent out notices clarifying their anti-sports flag policy but stating definitively that “the American flag is the only approved flag to be hung on and within common property.” This declaration has only fueled the ongoing debate over decorum and patriotism within the community.

By May 2026, however, the HOA issued Amy and Christopher Cooke a violation notice alleging the American flag mounted outside their home violated the association’s flag policy and directing them to remove the flag mount within 15 days or face enforcement action.

Neighbor Terri Collins also received a violation notice over the American flag displayed outside her home and said she’s prepared to fight the HOA alongside the Cookes.

“The journey has been long and hard, and we are ready to put an end to it once and for all,” Collins told News Media.

Amy Cooke told News Media the controversy began after another resident attempted to fly a San Diego Padres flag, prompting the HOA to revisit its flag rules.

“Both American flags had been flying around here for decades without issue,” Cooke said. “The fact is it’s about the American flag, distinctly.”

Cooke said she laughed when she first received notice that the HOA considered her American flag to be in violation.

“My first reaction was, ‘No,'” she said. “‘Wait a minute, this isn’t legal.'”

According to Cooke, the flag has flown from her garage door frame for more than 20 years in honor of her husband’s grandfather, who was killed in World War II while rescuing fellow sailors. He was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart.

Christopher and Amy Cooke

Cooke contends the HOA has repeatedly failed to explain why it considers her garage door frame to be common area rather than exclusive-use common area under the association’s governing documents.

In a June 19 letter to the HOA obtained by News Media, the Cookes requested board meeting minutes adopting the flag policy, records supporting the HOA’s interpretation of the property’s common areas and the authority it relied upon in issuing the violation. They also asked that their disciplinary hearing be postponed until those records were produced, writing that the same questions “remain unanswered.”

Cooke said she and her husband have spent nearly two years researching federal and California law, gathering HOA records, corresponding with the HOA and preparing for what they believe could become a lengthy legal battle.

The couple has since launched an online fundraiser to help cover attorney fees, court costs and other legal expenses if the dispute heads to court.

“This isn’t about refusing to follow reasonable rules,” Cooke wrote on the fundraising page. “We believe this is about preserving the right to display the American flag in our own community and ensuring that HOA rules are enforced fairly and consistently.”

Cooke said any money remaining after legal expenses would be donated to patriotic organizations or causes supporting Gold Star military families.

The homeowners’ fight has also attracted attention from legal advocates.

“California law is clear. While homeowners associations may adopt reasonable rules governing the manner, placement, or safety of flag displays, they cannot prohibit homeowners from flying the American flag on their own property,” Courtney Corbello, counsel at the Center for American Liberty, told News Media.

“No homeowner should be threatened with fines for respectfully displaying the flag of the country they love, especially on the eve of America’s 250th birthday. A blanket policy that sweeps in longstanding flag displays and punishes residents instead of pursuing reasonable solutions is likely to face serious legal scrutiny. HOAs cannot bully homeowners into taking down the Stars and Stripes.”

WATCH: Poll shows 27% of Democrats won’t fly flag for July 4

The controversy has also reached the political arena.

“What is wrong with these people? We are just about to celebrate the 250th birthday of our country,” California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton told the California Post.

“One of the most beautiful and magnificent things about America is the way we show our love of our country together all the time. … And now these tin-pot bureaucrats at some ridiculous HOA want to trample on our flag and stifle national pride at this of all moments? What a bunch of anti-American losers.”

Hilton urged residents to ignore the HOA’s demands and respond by displaying even more American flags in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.

Cooke said the dispute has already had a ripple effect throughout the neighborhood.

“We have flags going up and down emotionally, which is really sad,” she said. “Just fly the flag. It shouldn’t be an emotional decision.”

She said she hopes the case encourages other homeowners not to be intimidated by their HOAs.

“Stand up for what you believe in. Show some pride in your country and appreciate what America gives you,” Cooke said.

News Media has reached out to the Ambiance Owners Association and the San Marcos mayor’s office for comment.

Spotlight on Distinguished Attendees: An Inside Look at the Royal Box at Wimbledon

0

The highly anticipated 2026 Wimbledon Championships kicked off today, attracting a wave of celebrities to SW19 to witness the electrifying tennis matches.

The Royal Box at the All England Club—renowned for hosting eminent personalities from the worlds of sports, entertainment, and high society—was brimming with notable figures eager to enjoy the day’s events.

Among the distinguished guests was Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent, celebrated as the oldest living blood relative of the British Royals.

He shared the spotlight with football legend David Beckham, who delighted his mother, Sandra, with a special outing to the prestigious club.

The lineup of famous faces didn’t stop there, as other sought-after attendees included Great British Bake Off icon Mary Berry, along with TV personalities Tess Daly and Ronan Keating.

More than 9,000 fans queued this morning for tickets, with 45,000 spectators expected in the All England Club grounds today. Half a million fans are expected over the course of the two-week tournament.

Emma Raducanu, 23, had been set to play Croatian Antonia Ruzic on Court One today but withdrew because of a leg injury which was revealed to be a stress fracture.

But there was still plenty of appetite for strawberries and cream in the SW19 queue, with pictures showing bleary-eyed fans emerging from their tents, wrapping up in blankets and even shaving.

90-year-old Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, was among the famous faces in the Royal Box on day one of the 2026 Wimbledon Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London

While Queen Elizabeth may have been the longest ever reigning British monarch, the Duke of Kent is currently the oldest living relative by blood of the British Royal Family.

Prince Edward, 90, who was a cousin to both the late Queen and Prince Philip, has been among the hardest working and most loyal of Royal servants.

He previously said of the Queen and his commitment to duty: ‘I always felt I wanted to support her. That’s by far the most important thing in life.’

An Army veteran, dare-devil driver and tennis enthusiast, the Duke is certainly multi-faceted and he continues to astonish royal watchers, even to this day.

Born in his parents’ first home in London’s Belgravia in 1935, the Duke was named after Prince George’s elder brother, Edward, the future King.

His father was the younger brother of both King George and the former King Edward VIII, whilst his mother, Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, was the niece of the Duke of Edinburgh’s father, Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark.

The Duke lost his beloved wife, Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, last year at the age of 92.

British former tennis player Deborah Jevans CBE has been at the hallowed location numerous times, as a former junior Wimbledon champion.

She also played 10 times in the women’s singles (between 1979 and 1983). Her best result was reaching the fourth round, when she lost to fifth-seeded Virginia Wade.

Ms Jevans also played in the doubles event, reaching the quarter finals of the mixed doubles event in 1978, playing with her future husband and Wimbledon referee Andrew Jarrett.

She became the first chairwoman of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club Board in 2023, succeeding Ian Hewitt.

In 2013, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the New Year Honours due to her services to Sport and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games’, when she served as director of sports for the event.

Looking dapper in a grey suit, David, 51, and Sandra took their VIP seats alongside Mary Berry and former tennis player Debbie Jevans, with Mark Rylance, Alexandra Armstrong and Katherine Jenkins in the row behind.

The Beckhams’ invite to the Royal Box wasn’t extended to David’s son Romeo and his girlfriend Kim Turnbull though.

Tennis superfan Romeo and his girlfriend were also spotted making their SW19 arrival, but had to settle for the cheaper seats.

BAFTA winner for Best Actor Robert Aramayo attended today alongside his mother, Lisa Dawson.

Indeed, no one had predicted that the working class Yorkshire native would topple the Hollywood heavyweights he was up against, having beat hot favourite Timothee Chalamet and esteemed actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke to the win earlier this year.

No one was more shocked than Robert’s parents, who leapt up from their seats to celebrate his win, having previously described his acting success as ‘bonkers’, given he is from a ‘humble little family in Hull’.

It was undoubtedly a gratifying moment for Lisa Dawson and Mike Aramayo, who had sacrificed so much to help him achieve his dreams.

Growing up in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire alongside sisters Laura, 35, and Charleigh, 27, Robert, 33, realised his talents at the age of seven when he bagged the role of Bugsy Malone in a primary school production.

From there, he realised he had a talent for impersonations and at the age of 10 he joined the Hull Truck Youth Theatre, where he developed a real passion for his craft.

Lady Susan Hussey, who was forced to stand down from Royal duties after finding herself at the centre of a racism row, was in the Royal Box.

The presence of Prince William’s godmother at event has perhaps confirmed that she and the Royal Family have managed to put 2022’s controversy behind them.

Lady Hussey, 87, found herself in hot water in November that year over remarks she made to Ngozi Fulani at a Buckingham Palace reception for domestic violence charities.

The British-born founder of Sistah Space, who was wearing colourful African national dress at the occasion, tweeted that Lady Susan had repeatedly asked her where she came from.

Ms Fulani and her supporters claimed it was motivated by ‘prolonged racism’ and that the royal aide was incapable of grasping she was from Britain and not Africa.

Lady Susan, who served as lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II for more than 60 years, has since made a gradual return to the Royal fold.

A Royal Box veteran, the Boyzone star, 49, seemingly coordinated outfits with Storm, 44, as she opted for a high-waisted cream skirt with a crisp white shirt.

Storm looked typically elegant as she accessorised her match day ensemble with a gold watch, bracelets, and a pair of dark sunglasses.

Tess Daly was among the famous faces spotted in the Royal Box at Wimbledon today as the newly-single Strictly star arrived at the sporting event alongside her business partner, Gayle Lawton.

Tess, 57, looked sensational in a white lace dress, cinched at the waist with a bow, as the TV presenter kept her accessories to a minimum.

However, she continued to wear her wedding ring despite announcing she was splitting from Vernon Kay last month.

18. David Haggerty

David Haggerty – who has been the President of the International Tennis Federation since 2015 – attended Wimbledon with his wife Liz today.

He has also been a member of the International Olympic Committee for four years, as well as being a board member for the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.

It’s not the first time the pair have been spotted at the event – as they are, for obvious reasons, tennis fans!

19. Carol Kirkwood

Revitalize Your Day: Top 5 Chair Exercises to Boost Energy for Seniors Over 60

0

Feeling sluggish after turning 60? Try these chair exercises to quickly recharge your energy levels.

>

For many people over the age of 60, the tendency is to grab another cup of coffee when their energy starts to decline. However, the underlying issue often stems more from inactivity than a lack of caffeine. Prolonged sitting can impair circulation and lead to muscle stiffness, contributing to the tiredness that builds as the day progresses. As a fitness trainer, I’ve seen numerous clients regain their vitality by simply incorporating a few purposeful movements into their daily routines. The body thrives on motion, and even a simple chair can serve as an excellent aid in boosting your energy levels.

A common misconception surrounding exercise is that it must lead to heavy sweating and exhaustion to be beneficial. On the contrary, gentle movements can significantly enhance your energy by improving circulation, activating muscle groups, and stimulating the nervous system. This is especially advantageous for older adults seeking an energy lift without the risk of joint strain. Often, just a few minutes of targeted movement can be as invigorating as heading to the coffee machine yet again.

Throughout my years of coaching those in their 60s, 70s, and beyond, the most lively individuals seldom sit idle for extended periods. They integrate brief movement intervals into their day, keeping their bodies active from dawn till dusk. These seated exercises are designed to engage major muscles while being suitable for nearly all levels of fitness. When your energy wanes, try these chair movements to likely experience a refreshed sense of alertness and agility.

Seated Marches

Whenever a client tells me they feel sluggish during the afternoon, seated marches often become my first recommendation. The movement elevates the heart rate gently while activating the hip flexors, core, and legs without requiring anyone to leave their chair. Many people underestimate how quickly the body responds when large muscle groups begin working together. After just a minute or two, circulation improves, breathing deepens, and that heavy feeling of inactivity often starts to disappear. I like this option because it feels approachable, yet it provides a surprisingly effective energy boost for adults who spend significant time sitting throughout the day.

Seated Arm Circles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFSxyj2X9AQ

The shoulders and upper back often become tight and inactive during long periods of sitting. Seated arm circles encourage blood flow through the upper body while helping improve posture and shoulder mobility. I frequently use this movement with clients who spend hours reading, working at a computer, or watching television. The continuous motion wakes up muscles that often remain dormant throughout the day and helps reduce the feeling of physical fatigue that accompanies prolonged sitting. Many people finish a set feeling more upright, alert, and ready to tackle the next part of their day.

How to Do It

 • Sit tall with your feet flat.
 • Extend both arms out to your sides.
 • Make small forward circles.
 • Continue for 15 seconds.
 • Reverse direction.
 • Repeat for another 15 seconds.

Sit-to-Stand

Few chair-based exercises deliver a bigger return than repeatedly standing up and sitting back down. I often describe it as one of the most practical movements for maintaining independence because it strengthens the legs, hips, and core while also increasing heart rate. Clients frequently notice an immediate boost in energy because several major muscle groups work together during each repetition. The movement mimics a daily activity, making it both functional and effective. When performed with good control, it quickly reminds the body that it was designed to move rather than remain seated for hours.

How to Do It

 • Sit near the front edge of a chair.
 • Place your feet shoulder-width apart.
 • Lean slightly forward.
 • Stand fully upright.
 • Lower yourself back to the chair slowly.
 • Complete 10 to 15 repetitions.

If You Can Stand on One Leg This Long After 60, Your Stability Is Top-Tier

Seated Knee Extensions

Energy levels often improve when circulation reaches the lower body, especially after extended sitting. Seated knee extensions help activate the quadriceps while encouraging movement around the knees and hips. I regularly prescribe this exercise for older clients because it strengthens important muscles without requiring balance or coordination challenges. The repetitive motion helps reduce stiffness while increasing awareness of the legs and lower body. Many people report feeling more stable and energized after completing a few controlled sets.

How to Do It

 • Sit tall with both feet on the floor.
 • Extend one leg until it becomes straight.
 • Pause briefly at the top.
 • Lower the leg slowly.
 • Complete 10 repetitions.
 • Repeat on the opposite side.

Seated Reach and Pull

One of the fastest ways to wake up the upper body involves combining reaching and pulling movements. This exercise encourages mobility through the shoulders, chest, and upper back while activating muscles responsible for better posture. I often finish chair routines with this movement because it leaves clients feeling open, energized, and more engaged. The combination of reaching forward and pulling backward creates a natural rhythm that promotes circulation and movement throughout the torso. It’s simple, effective, and ideal for breaking up long periods of inactivity.

How to Do It

 • Sit tall with your feet planted firmly.
 • Reach both arms forward.
 • Pull your elbows back as if rowing.
 • Squeeze your shoulder blades together.
 • Extend forward again.
 • Perform 15 to 20 repetitions.

Iran Vows Compliance with Nuclear Deal Pending U.S. Adherence to Commitments

On Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that Tehran is committed to fulfilling its obligations under the memorandum of understanding with the United States, provided that Washington reciprocates. His statement sets the stage for anticipated high-level talks in Doha, following a weekend incident in the Strait of Hormuz that momentarily endangered the ceasefire.

“Mutual understanding is a two-way street. If the American side adheres to the agreement, we will also fulfill our commitments,” Pezeshkian wrote on X, adding that Iran’s response to what he described as “unreasonable saber-rattling and baseless threats” would be guided by “rationality and human dignity in decision-making,” while remaining prepared to “defend decisively and fearlessly when it comes time to act.”

Pezeshkian’s comments aligned with efforts from both Washington and Tehran to rekindle diplomatic discussions after the brief turmoil threatened diplomatic progress. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump confirmed on Monday that Iran had called for another meeting, prompting U.S. officials to plan a Tuesday trip to Doha.

“Iran asked for a meeting. It’s happening tomorrow in Doha!” Trump announced via Truth Social. Speaking later to reporters at the Oval Office, he described the forthcoming talks as “potentially significant—or maybe not,” expressing anticipation over what the discussions might yield.

Despite the latest tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump assured that the administration’s goals remain steadfast.

“Militarily, we are in a position of strength. It’s nearly a military victory, in my view,” Trump stated. “Our core objective is straightforward: to ensure the denuclearization of Iran. We cannot allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, and they’ve agreed to this, which deserves acknowledgment.”

Shortly after Trump’s announcement, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Doha for what she described as “high-level” meetings, with technical discussions scheduled to take place on the sidelines.

“Special Envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner will be flying to Doha for high-level meetings this week, as we continue to discuss the memorandum of understanding,” Leavitt said on Fox News. “On the sidelines of those high-level talks, there will be the technical talks.”

Leavitt said the administration believes it has upheld its commitments under the ceasefire and memorandum while making clear the United States would continue responding militarily to any further Iranian attacks.

“As far as we’re concerned, we’re holding up our end of the ceasefire. Violence will be met with violence,” she said, adding that while the United States had responded to attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, “the president obviously wants to see the peace process play out.”

Iran, for its part, continued to publicly maintain that no direct negotiations with U.S. officials are currently scheduled, despite Washington’s announcement.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said an Iranian expert delegation would travel to Doha to discuss implementation of the memorandum’s provisions but insisted Tehran has “not yet entered the stage of negotiating a final agreement” and that “over the coming days, we will not have any negotiation meetings with the U.S. side at any level.”

Senior Iranian negotiator Kazem Gharibabadi likewise said reports that Iranian and American technical teams would meet in Doha were “not confirmed,” while noting that consultations with Qatar regarding implementation of the memorandum remain ongoing.

On Sunday, however, Trump administration officials said Washington and Tehran had agreed to stand down following the weekend exchange of strikes, with another U.S. official confirming plans for renewed discussions in Doha after both sides moved to contain the latest escalation.

The renewed diplomatic push came after a weekend exchange of strikes that briefly threatened the memorandum after Iran launched attacks against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting two rounds of U.S. retaliatory strikes against Iranian military targets.

Trump later warned that continued Iranian violations of the ceasefire could ultimately force the United States to “militarily complete the job” it began, cautioning that the Islamic Republic “will no longer exist” if Washington is compelled to launch a broader military campaign.

Following the U.S. strikes, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S.-linked sites in Bahrain and Kuwait while accusing Washington of violating the memorandum.

The memorandum, signed earlier this month, established a 60-day framework for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, restoring commercial shipping through the strategic waterway, and beginning broader negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, frozen assets, and other outstanding issues.

Tuesday’s discussions are expected to focus primarily on implementation of the agreement, even as Washington and Tehran continue to publicly characterize the scope of the talks differently.

Ford announces recall of over 741,000 US vehicles to address parking system concerns, reports NHTSA

Ford has announced a major recall of 741,195 vehicles across the United States due to a transmission issue that may impair the park system. This flaw holds the potential to cause cars to roll unexpectedly, as reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Tuesday.

The recall specifically involves certain models from the years 2018 to 2021, including the Navigator, Expedition, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and the 2021 F-150, according to the regulatory body.

To resolve the problem, Ford dealerships will offer a complimentary update of the vehicle’s software. Technicians will also conduct inspections and replace any damaged parts of the transmission at no extra cost, as stated by the NHTSA.

In a separate issue, Ford is also recalling 36,046 Bronco models in the U.S. due to a problem with fender flares that might be inadequately secured. These parts could detach and pose a road hazard, potentially heightening the risk of accidents, according to the NHTSA.

Fender flares are the curved sections situated above the wheels, designed to contour around the wheel arches of the vehicle.

The recall affects certain 2018-2021 Navigator, Expedition, 2020-2021 Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and 2021 F-150 vehicles, the regulator said.
