Florida Woman Arrested Following Fatal Dog Attack Amid Allegations of Negligence

0

In Brevard County, Florida, a tragic incident led to an arrest on Wednesday, following a deadly dog attack that occurred on May 19. The arrest was announced by the local sheriff’s office.

The suspect, 29-year-old Linda Cutler, faces manslaughter charges after her two dogs fatally attacked Jodi Cowan, aged 50, during her walk with her dog. Sheriff Wayne Ivey reported that Cowan succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, four hours following the attack.

Brevard Co Sheriff’s Office.

Footage captured by a nearby home’s security camera reveals the distressing moment when the dogs charged at Cowan, attacking as she attempted to shield her pet.

According to Sheriff Ivey’s Facebook update, the dogs, named Max and Mako, managed to escape their owner’s fenced yard and launched a vicious assault on Cowan. They knocked her to the ground, mercilessly mauling her before dragging her across the yard.

Brevard Co Sheriff’s Office.

In response to Cowan’s cries for help, her spouse rushed outside, using a knife to fend off the aggressive animals, as detailed by Ivey.

Agents took a sworn statement from Cutler during an investigation, and she said she was aware her dogs would routinely escape from the yard, had bitten another person in a past incident and were becoming “more aggressive,” Ivey said.

She said she put up another fence but knew it had holes in it, through which her dogs frequently escaped, according to BSO.

During the time of the attack, she was at a Hilton hotel on a beach, and Melbourne police were called to the hotel for a separate “disturbance” connected to Cutler.

Agents obtained an arrest warrant for Cutler, and Melbourne police assisted in the arrest. Ivey said she “feigned having a heart attack” while being taken into custody and was transported to the hospital.

Max and Mako are set to be euthanized, according to Ivey.

“Because of her, a family is trying to deal with the aftermath of a horrific attack on their loved one, and she’s soaking up rays and living it up,” Ivey said.

BSO shared a video of Ivey walking Cutler into the Brevard County Jail.

“Hope you enjoyed your time at the beach because you’re not going to be going back,” Ivey said.

“What is the purpose of that?” Cutler said.

“A woman is dead and two dogs are about to be euthanized because of your uselessness,” Ivey said.

Brevard Co Sheriff’s Office.

Neighbors reported previous incidents in which the dogs roamed the neighborhood. The sheriff’s office said it also received calls dating back to 2024 in reference to other dogs at Cutler’s residence.

The dogs bit one of the neighbors, but Ivey said the victim in the incident did not cooperate with law enforcement.

Chrisean Rock Offers Insight into Her Son’s Daily Therapy Routine: ‘A Regular Practice

Chrisean Rock is offering a glimpse into the often unseen aspects of motherhood.

On Thursday, the reality TV personality shared a video on her Instagram stories, where she was seen aiding her son, Chrisean Jesus Jr., during a therapy session at their home.

“My son and I are constantly at it, day in and day out, doing what needs to be done. You know what I mean? This is our reality,” Chrisean expressed in the video.

She continued, “I adore him. He’s picking things up and being cooperative,” before planting a kiss on her son.

In addition to the video, Chrisean highlighted the dedication she and her son have shown toward his therapy and their at-home exercises.

“Me and my son do this daily. We’ve been staying consistent with therapy and his at-home exercises, including using his treadmill to support his journey,” she wrote.

She also told followers that she plans to continue sharing updates through her docu-series and livestreams.

“I’ll continue keeping everyone updated on his progress through my docu-series and streams. We’re healing and truly thriving,” Chrisean wrote.

The post comes after years of online discussions about Chrisean Jr.’s development. While she has largely stayed quiet about much of the commentary, Rock addressed the topic earlier this year during an appearance on The Danza Project podcast.

At the time, she pushed back against claims that her son has a disability and said she believes he is developing at his own pace.

“My son does not have a disability. He is developing at his own pace and hitting his milestones in his own timing. Every child is different and I’m confident in his growth,” she said.

She later explained why she does not allow outside opinions to shape how she views her son’s future.

“It’s like saying if someone [is] a doctor, anybody speak against your kid or yourself, then you should not accept it, bro,” Rock said. “If they’re guessing or whatever: no. The word said what the word said. God says what God says. I don’t have to accept what you [say]. So, it’s really me protecting a revelation that I heard from the Lord over my son.”

Atletico Madrid’s Hilarious Social Media Takedown of Barcelona Over Julian Alvarez Saga: A New Chapter in LaLiga Rivalry

Atletico Madrid has launched a pointed critique at Barcelona following the latter’s interest in Julian Alvarez, utilizing social media to accuse their rivals of orchestrating a ‘smear campaign’ against them.

Spanish media on Thursday revealed Atletico’s strong warning to Arsenal and Barcelona, advising them to steer clear of Alvarez. Despite this, reports claim a bid of £130 million might suffice to secure the player’s transfer.

Alvarez, who previously played for Manchester City, is rumored to be eager to depart from Atletico, expressing a particular preference for joining Barcelona and refusing to extend his current contract with his club.

The first post showed Barca’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal wearing an Atletico kit in an edited image. The caption read: ‘HERE WE GO! We have sent a fax to @FCBarcelona_es with our transfer offer: 4 tickets for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny concert, an annual subscription to ABC, and a bag of sunflower seeds. We eagerly await the response to prepare the “announce (sic)”.’

A second post, shared just a minute later, featured the same theme, but this time with midfielder Pedri. The caption read: ‘HERE WE GO! For this second offer we’ve had a problem, we’ve run out of tickets for tomorrow’s concert, so we improve the previous proposal with 6 for the one on Sunday.’

One of the posts, featuring a doctored image of Raphinha, stated: ‘HERE WE GO! In a surprising twist, we’re contemplating a bold move: loaning the player for a season while simultaneously sending Tom Ford and Smith on loan with no purchase option. It’s an offer that’s hard to turn down.’

The prolific striker, who has netted 49 goals in 106 appearances for Atletico, is believed to view Barcelona as offering a more promising path to trophies compared to both Arsenal and Atletico.

The 26-year-old currently has four years left to run on his contract, which contains a €500million (£430m) release clause – other reports have suggested that Atletico would in fact sell for £130m.

Alvarez’s agent Fernando Hidalgo increased speculation over his client’s possible move to Barcelona after sharing a post on social media of him travelling into the city.

A further post from Atletico read: ‘Finally, we want to take this opportunity to categorically deny that we have made an offer to the sporting director of FC Barcelona to join our scouting team in the Brazilian market,’ in reference to Deco.

They continued: ‘No, Atletico de Madrid would never do something like that. However, in recent months, we’ve been suffering a smear campaign against one of our players. Leaked information with ulterior motives, “fake news”, constant disrespect, the cule version of the propaganda machine inventing little stories, calls before direct matchups.

‘But of course, it wouldn’t occur to us either to have the referees’ vice president on our payroll or to resort to political favors to register players. RESPECT and VALUES.’

They had initially said they were going to ‘publish a statement about a relevant matter that is generating numerous pieces of disinformation,’ and shared a video of a lion chasing a group of people, before it was revealed to be a dog. The caption read: ‘Barca trying to sign one of your players.’

Spanish publication Marca reported on Thursday that Atletico Madrid has said they were ‘tired of months of lies, half-truths, harassment of our players in mixed zones, and absurd questions that are all part of a pre-arranged campaign’.

They added that Alvarez was ‘not for sale’.

The outcry came as Barcelona were readying to officially announce Anthony Gordon as their player in a £70million move.

Gordon was initially set to be announced at midday, but, as of 8pm BST, he had still not been unveiled.

It is understood that Barca still want to sign Marcus Rashford this season, but on another loan, as well as Gordon and Alvarez.

Leon Brown of ‘Sister Wives’ Breaks Silence: Inside Life in a Polygamist Cult

Key art for 'Sister Wives' season 20

Reality TV News

“I grew up in a cult, a polygamist cult. And when I was 14, my parents began filming a TV show for a very popular network,” Leon recently revealed on TikTok.

Leon Brown is opening up about their experiences growing up in a fundamentalist Mormon family.

Leon, the only child of Meri Brown and Kody Brown, spent their formative years on TLC’s widely watched series Sister Wives. The show chronicled the lives of Leon’s parents, Kody’s three other wives, and their collective 17 children. As one of the older siblings, 30-year-old Leon played a significant role in the series, most memorably in a season 11 episode where they came out as gay.

Leon Brown plans to open up about being ‘raised on TV’

A few years after opening up about their sexuality, Leon stepped away from Sister Wives. In 2022, they came out as transgender. Since then, Leon has kept a relatively low-key profile. While they post periodically on Instagram about their life in Colorado with their wife, Audrey, they have mostly kept quiet about recent Sister Wives drama (though they did recently refute Kody’s claims that he’d attempted to mend fences with his estranged kids.)

But now, Leon is ready to start talking about their experience on Sister Wives.

“I was raised on TV,” Leon said in a video shared on TikTok on May 29. “I grew up in a cult, a polygamist cult. And when I was 14, my parents started filming a TV show on a very popular network.”

“I haven’t ever really talked about my own story publicly before, and that feels increasingly inauthentic,” they continued. “I think it’s time that I start talking about it. I love stories. I’m a storyteller; I’m a story listener. Stories really enrich my life and help me find parts of myself that I need. And I think it’s probably time I start sharing my own story. It’s been told for me.”

‘Sister Wives’ was a ‘formative’ part of Leon’s life

Leon went on to say they previously didn’t feel “ready” to share their story. However, by speaking out now, they hope to help others, and perhaps themselves as well. Before, they’d tried to speak about their journey without talking about Sister Wives and their experience in a polygamist family, but that was difficult.

“This was my foundation. This was my childhood, this was my formative years. I think to tell my story at all, I have to tell you this,” Leon said. “Follow along for the ride. We’ll see what happens.”

Leon’s followers praised them for taking control of their own narrative. Many said they were eager to hear their side of the Sister Wives experience. While Leon has not yet shared specific stories, they made it clear that they didn’t see their time on the show as a positive.

“Did u like growing up on tv?” one person asked.

“No,” Leon replied.

Unbelievable Act: Teen Launches 30-Pound Couch from Mall’s Upper Floor in Startling Incident

0

Recently released surveillance footage captures a terrifying moment at a bustling shopping mall in Stratford, East London, where a teenager hurled a hefty 33-pound chair from the top floor railing, narrowly missing unsuspecting pedestrians below. This reckless incident took place at a Westfield mall in March of last year. However, it is only now, following the prosecution of the involved teenagers, that the dramatic CCTV footage has been made public, highlighting just how close a disaster was averted, as reported by SWNS.

The footage reveals a 16-year-old boy hoisting a round, dark-blue chair from the floor before launching it over the railing as his 15-year-old companion captured the dangerous stunt on video. At the time, the clip quickly went viral on social media, captioned with the alarming phrase, “no way bro almost killed someone.”

In the heart-stopping footage, a group of shoppers can be seen strolling by, blissfully unaware of the substantial piece of furniture plummeting towards them from above. The incident underscores the potential for tragedy in what was a thoughtless and dangerous prank.

At the time, the video went wiral on social media alongside the caption “no way bro almost killed someone.”

In the footage, a group of shoppers can be seen walking along, completely unaware that there was a large sofa falling above them.

A moment later, the blue chair can be seen slamming down onto the tiled-floor, narrowly missing the group of people.

Other passersby can be seen freezing in fear after the couch landed nearby, before hurrying off in a different direction.

The teen and his buddy were nabbed by police soon after.

Last September, the 16-year-old teen who chucked the chair over the railing was slapped with a $55 fine and a 8-month Detention and Training Order, where he’ll serve half his sentence in a secure training facility.

The 15-year-old boy was hit with a $331 fine and a 12-month referral order, a community service sentence for young, first-time offenders on May 20.

Both teens pleaded guilty to criminal damage and recklessly causing a public nuisance.

Heartfelt Tribute: BBC Honors Legacy of Beloved Gardeners’ World Star

A beloved BBC personality has honored a renowned television gardener with a heartfelt social media post. Brenton West, known for his role on The Repair Shop, paid his respects to the late Geoff Hamilton, an icon from Gardeners’ World, by cultivating an enchanting outdoor space inspired by Hamilton’s legacy.

On Instagram, Brenton uploaded a video showcasing his garden, which boasted an array of potted plants, including vibrant geraniums for a splash of color, alongside lush foliage in the flower beds. The camera then drifted towards a sweetpea pergola, which he humorously acknowledged was “not going so well at the moment,” before highlighting a selection of delicate white and blue wildflowers. The footage continued with glimpses of two olive trees surrounded by “lots of roses,” complemented by peonies and fragrant lavender.

Transitioning to a more serene section of his garden, Brenton unveiled his “favorite part,” featuring a tranquil stream adorned with an abundance of lilies. He remarked on the “contrast of color” and the vibrancy of life in this area. His garden also boasted a well-tended vegetable patch, adding to its charm.

In his post’s caption, Brenton elaborated: “This English cottage garden is a tribute to the late Geoff Hamilton. And just a note, my home isn’t actually named Westacres.”

Fans joined in the tribute, leaving their own heartfelt comments about the late gardener. One admirer wrote, “Geoff Hamilton was a wonderful gardener,” accompanying the sentiment with a sad face emoji. Brenton replied with appreciation, confessing, “I learned it all from him.”

Geoff first started making guest appearances on Gardeners’ World in the 1970s, becoming its regular presenter in 1979. In 1985, he was responsible for moving the show’s venue to his own garden at Barnsdale, Oakham, Rutland.

As well as presenting Gardeners’ World, he made several series, including the highly successful Geoff Hamilton’s Cottage Gardens.

He once said: “I’ve been gardening for more than 50 years now and I still can’t get over that excitement every year, when you look over the trays of seedlings you planted out and wonder if they are going to come through – and they do.”

He died in 1996, aged just 59, after suffering a heart attack while taking part in a charity cycle run.

Top US Commander Engages with Cuban Military Amidst Heightened Trump Administration Pressure

0
The top US commander in Latin America met with Cuban military leaders on Friday in a “brief exchange on operational security matters” near the US Navy base in Guantanamo Bay, the latest official to visit the island nation as President Donald Trump ramps up pressure on its leaders.

In a stark warning, former President Donald Trump has suggested that Cuba could be the next target after U.S. military forces captured Venezuela’s authoritarian leader, Nicolás Maduro, during a raid in January. Following this operation, the Trump administration intensified its pressure on Cuba, implementing an oil blockade, stationing warships in the Caribbean, and bringing federal charges against former Cuban President Raúl Castro.

General Francis Donovan, who heads the U.S. Southern Command, recently engaged in discussions with Lieutenant General Roberto Legrá Sotolongo and other Cuban military officials.

The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba released a statement describing the meeting as constructive, noting that both parties appreciated the discussion on security concerns around the military zone. They also agreed to maintain open lines of communication between their military commands.

High-ranking officials from Trump’s administration, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, have been involved in dialogues with Cuban representatives to assess possibilities for improved relations.

However, the outcome of these talks left the U.S. officials dissatisfied, prompting the administration to levy additional sanctions against the Cuban government.

Besides the meeting, Donovan also assessed the security of the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay and discussed the “safety of service members and their families, and operational readiness with base officials,” US Southern Command said in a post on X.

The US maintains the base despite decades of friction with Cuba’s socialist leaders, whom Trump wants removed from power.

The US military has a handful of Navy ships, including at least one amphibious assault ship, in the Caribbean, a much smaller force than was present at the time of the Maduro raid.

On Friday, the Pentagon announced that a new unit of 1300 sailors and Marines would be replacing the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, which deployed to the region last summer.

Understanding the Impact of Fuel Prices, Inflation, and Stamp Costs: Key Insights

0

Fuel prices have seen a decline, inflation rates are easing, and the likelihood of another hike in interest rates seems to be diminishing. However, this does not necessarily mean that households and businesses are in the clear just yet.

Recent data reveals a cautious consumer base, with many opting to curtail their spending. At the same time, numerous businesses are choosing to absorb the increased costs rather than transferring them to customers, at least for the moment.

For those who still engage in sending letters, be prepared for an increase in your everyday expenses as postal rates are set to rise.

Are Australian businesses okay?

A recent survey conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), which included 1,900 businesses, highlighted that 72 percent have been adversely affected by fuel prices and supply chain issues.

Meanwhile, 48 per cent have absorbed the cost of higher fuel prices, with only 11 per cent increasing their prices and six per cent implementing a fuel surcharge or levy.

But business groups warn that many businesses are feeling the pressure and would only be able to absorb costs for so long, meaning prices could go up if the war in the Middle East and its impacts drag on.

What does cooler inflation mean for your mortgage?

Falling fuel prices helped bring down inflation in April, with the headline rate moderating from 4.6 per cent a month earlier to 4.2 per cent.

That’s because automotive fuel prices fell by 7 per cent after rising 32.8 per cent in March — though the drop came as the federal government halved the fuel excise, which cut the price of petrol and diesel by 26.3 cents a litre.

However, trimmed mean inflation — the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) preferred measure that strips out volatile items — edged higher to 3.4 per cent.

The figures prompted economists and analysts to update their forecasts, with many now betting the RBA will leave interest rates on hold when it next meets on 15-16 June.

Households tighten their budgets

Bolstering that case was household spending data, which fell 1.1 per cent in April — the biggest decline in nearly three years.

Transport spending was the biggest driver, down 4.7 per cent, as the federal government’s temporary halving of the fuel excise kicked in.

That was followed by clothing and footwear, down 2.2 per cent — and along with other discretionary categories, which also fell, suggests households are pulling back on nice-to-have purchases.

Meanwhile, food also fell 1.3 per cent, which ABS head of business statistics Tom Lay said reflects a return to normal levels after some households engaged in precautionary stockpiling in March following the outbreak of the war.

“The shift towards generic brands and cheaper products in supermarkets continued into April, reflecting ongoing price consciousness among households,” he said.

Letter writers to pay more

How much does a stamp cost in Australia?

It sounds like a pub trivia question — and the answer could soon be $1.85.

Yes, you read that right. Who remembers when they used to be 70 cents?

Well, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission says it won’t oppose Australia Post’s proposal to increase stamp prices by 8.8 per cent.

This comes as the postal service deals with falling mail volumes and rising losses across its letters business.

Concession stamps and season greeting card stamps will remain unchanged at 60 cents and 65 cents, respectively.

US Researchers Warn: Global Humanitarian System Failing to Meet Current Demands

0

LONDON, England — A recent analysis in the Lancet medical journal highlights dire conditions from Sudan to Gaza, with civilians in urgent need and hospitals frequently targeted in attacks, while humanitarian efforts struggle to meet the demands.

“The current humanitarian aid model is inadequate for the scale and nature of today’s emergencies,” stated Dr. Paul Spiegel, a co-author of the report, in an interview with Fox News.

AS GLOBAL ATTENTION SHIFTS, SUDAN EXPERIENCES MASS DISPLACEMENT WITH 12 MILLION FORCED TO FLEE IN A DEVASTATING CONFLICT

Dr. Spiegel, a professor at Johns Hopkins University and co-director of its Center for Humanitarian Health, brings decades of on-ground experience in refugee camps and conflict zones globally. “I’ve been involved in this field for over 30 years,” he remarked. “We are facing some of the darkest times I’ve ever witnessed.”

Highlighting one of the world’s largest disasters, Sudan’s brutal civil war — where tens of millions of people are in need as hospitals close and famine spreads — the panel of experts behind the report says the world knows how to save lives, but that the system is failing to deliver. The experts’ report, titled ‘Health in a World of Crises and Impunity,’ argues that some agencies are too bureaucratic, and others too slow. The whole system, they say, needs revamping.

Paul Spiegel

The report argues the United Nations is in need of reform, while in the U.S. it highlights the Trump Administration’s shuttering of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) over suspected fraud and abuse.

During that restructuring, many of USAID’s most vital programs were folded into the State Department, but the report calls USAID’s closure a “shock” and “sudden,” and part of a chain of decisions in the U.S. and elsewhere which it condemns as “a political and moral failure.”

ANALYSTS SAY GAZA ‘CIVILIAN’ DEATHS INCLUDE HAMAS, OTHER TERROR MEMBERS WORKING AS MEDICS, MEDIA WORKERS

“USAID needed to be restructured,” Spiegel told Fox News. “The U.N. needs to be restructured in a very significant way. But it’s how you do that.

“It is the strategy to make sure that you do it in such a way that vulnerable populations across the globe are not going to be hurt, and that it wasn’t done like that.”

Paul Spiegel

The authors are pushing for major global reforms, including overhauling funding, sending aid directly to local communities, greater accountability if governments or armed groups block aid, and upholding healthcare as a basic human right.

“It’s really a complete rebalancing,” Spiegel said, “to make sure that the system actually works for the people it’s intended to help.”
