Bruce Springsteen Takes a Stand: The Rock Legend Halts Concert to Address Newark’s Delaney Hall Controversy

0

During a concert in Washington, D.C., music legend Bruce Springsteen took a moment to address a pressing social issue, denouncing Newark’s Delaney Hall immigration detention center. This came amidst ongoing tensions between activists and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The 76-year-old artist paused his performance at Nationals Park on Wednesday, part of his Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour, to speak out before singing “My City of Ruins.”

“Across the country, immigrants are detained in for-profit centers like Delaney Hall in New Jersey, my home state,” Springsteen stated, referencing a video circulating online. “Even our governor has been denied access to these facilities to discuss the conditions with the detainees.”

Springsteen’s remarks were met with mixed reactions from the audience, including some boos.

In a show of solidarity, Springsteen led the crowd in chanting “ICE out!” and urged them to ensure their voices were heard, saying, “Let ’em hear you at the White House.”

“We are living through troubles and troubling times,” he stressed.

Springsteen’s politically-charged track “Streets of Minneapolis” was among the songs he performed – which was created in response to the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti.

He claimed ICE agents had “brought death and terror” to the city but said locals “stood shoulder-to-shoulder for their neighbors,” the Hill reported.

“The Gestapo tactics of this president and this administration will not stand here,” Springsteen said, attacking Trump once again.

At the end of the track, pictures of Good and Pretti were projected above the stage.

Springsteen also critiqued the Supreme Court and Trump’s Department of Justice during his tirade.

Meanwhile, keffiyeh-clad and masked left-wing agitators continue to clash with immigration agents outside the facility, which has been the center of heated protests for the past week.

Video shared by Freedom News showed anti-ICE demonstrators blocking agents’ cars outside the facility.

At one point, the hood of an ICE vehicle almost touched a protester – before swarms of tooled-up agents charged toward the yobs.

Agitators tried to intimidate agents – with one rabble-rouser shouting, “Who are you gonna shoot b—h?” in a video shared by Freedom News journalist Oliya Scootercaster.

“Why don’t you go get your buddy with an AK47 to shoot me in the f—in face!” an agitator screamed.

Demonstrators continued to hurl sickening chants at ICE agents, including, “Take your gun and shoot yourself.”

Mobs also shouted, “Every cop, every fed, shoot yourself in the head.”

Major clashes erupted with ICE agents turning to pepper spray in a desperate bid to disperse protesters wearing gas masks – while others clobbered demonstrators with their batons.

During Thursday’s squirmishes, some anti-ICE protesters resorted to umbrellas to shield off the tooled up immigration agents.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin traded barbs on social media Thursday night over which access state officials had to the facility for inspections.

“If conditions are really as good as you’re claiming, then let my health inspectors do their jobs,” the Democratic governor wrote on X.

“Taxpayers are footing a billion-dollar bill for this facility. They deserve transparency.”

But Mullin shot back that four reps with the state’s health department checked out food services earlier in the day.

“@ICEgov is regularly audited and inspected by external agencies to ensure that all ICE facilities comply with performance based national detention standards,” he posted.

“All detainees are provided with proper meals, quality water, blankets, medical treatment, and have opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers.”

Earlier this week, Sherill claimed she was denied access to the center.

The White House has tried to downplay the clashes, which protesters say are in response to the supposedly inhumane conditions detainees inside are experiencing.

The DHS branded Sherill’s visit to the center “nothing more than a political stunt” while President Trump said the demonstrators were “all paid-for protesters” during a cabinet meeting.

“These aren’t protesters. These people are fake,” he said when asked about the ongoing protests outside the facility.

Tragic Shooting in Parking Lot: Woman Fatally Shot by Man with Rifle, Police Say

Inset left: Allen Prince (Cass County Sheriff”s Office). Inset right: Amy Coon (Selfie via Facebook). Background: The Price Chopper grocery store parking lot where Prince allegedly shot and killed Coon in Pleasant Hill, Mo. (Google Maps).

A Missouri resident finds himself in custody after a tragic Memorial Day incident where he fatally shot a mother and grandmother in a supermarket parking lot.

Allen Prince, aged 27, faces charges including first-degree murder, two counts of assault, and three counts of armed criminal actions, as filed by the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The violent episode claimed the life of 45-year-old Amy Coon and left a 16-year-old grocery store employee injured.

This unfortunate event unfolded at Cosentino’s Price Chopper, situated on Missouri Route 7, commonly known as MO-7, in Pleasant Hill, a quaint suburb approximately 30 miles southeast of Kansas City.

“Amy was far more than a victim,” stated Pleasant Hill Police Chief Tommy Wright during a press briefing. “She was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and someone who was profoundly cherished by her family.”

The teenage victim, who has since been identified by his first name, Ayden, is currently recuperating in the ICU at Children’s Mercy Hospital and in stable condition, according to The Kansas City Star.

“This was his first job,” the teen’s mother told Kansas City-based CBS affiliate KCTV. “He just started working there in March. I’m hoping that it’s not going to traumatize him from wanting to go back to work.”

The surviving victim was shot twice while retrieving shopping carts from the parking lot, according to a GoFundMe.

Coon hailed from Pleasant Hill and was shopping at Price Chopper just moments before the shooting. She was shot while standing next to her own vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The slain woman was remembered fondly, the Star reports.

“Aunt Amy believed in me and my future,” her niece wrote in a Facebook post. “She truly was a light in this evil and cruel world we live in. I never saw her without a smile on her face. She was a daughter, a mother, grandmother, and friend.”

The shooting began just before 4:30 p.m., police said. Soon after the first few shots rang out, two armed citizens began to approach Prince — prompting the defendant to shoot himself in the head with a bolt-action Winchester .243-caliber rifle, according to law enforcement.

“Two gentlemen from the Pleasant Hill area, who were armed, had the courage to approach this suspect, who then turned the gun on himself,” the police chief said. “I applaud them. I appreciate people like that being in our community. This is a community that truly exists for each other and these two men stepped forward… to prevent further violence.”

The defendant is currently being treated for his injuries.

The defendant was already in legal trouble at the time of the shooting. He was due in court in Cass County on June 3, for a hearing over a harassment charge filed against him in September 2025, according to court records obtained by local Fox affiliate WDAF.

In that case, a family member alleges Prince told her: “If she doesn’t shut up, he will blow her f— head off.” The witness also claims the defendant often wakes in the middle of the night “yelling non-sensible ideations [and] banging on the walls,” court records show.

In that case, Prince was taken into custody without incident, denied making any threats, and said he was “unsure as to why deputies were contacting him on this day.” In October, he was released on a recognizance bond with conditions that included not possessing firearms, having no harmful contact with anyone, and obeying all laws.

Coon’s death marks the first homicide in Pleasant Hill in at least 20 years.

“This is not an everyday occurrence in Pleasant Hill,” Wright said on Tuesday. “In fact, it looks like it’s every 20 years or so. And we hope that we can even make that last a little longer this time.”

Rescue Operation Underway for Stranded Miners Discovered in Cave, Facing Perilous Conditions

0

In a dramatic turn of events, five gold miners who became trapped in a cave in Laos last week have been located, but remain underground, facing a daunting and potentially perilous rescue operation that could span several days.

On Wednesday, specialist divers discovered the miners alive, nestled together in a narrow passage approximately 980 feet from the cave’s entrance. Despite this promising development, extracting them has proven challenging due to the cave’s flooding, the risk of collapses, and other lurking subterranean dangers.

The fate of two additional miners who entered the cave alongside the five remains uncertain, adding an element of urgency to the rescue efforts.

The group became stranded on May 20 in a cave situated in the central Xaysomboun province, northeast of the capital city, Vientiane. Their search for gold turned dire when torrential rains triggered flash floods, effectively sealing their escape route and leaving them isolated underground.

They were searching for gold but got trapped after heavy rain triggered flash flooding, blocking their exit.

Finnish diver Mikko Paasi, who found the men alongside his Thai diving partner Norrased Palasing, said on Wednesday that rescuers were ‘racing against time’ inside the cave, which he called an ‘abandoned gold mine’.

He said: ‘The five survivors are still in the terminal chamber, all healthy and in good spirits, but the extraction is still ahead and it ain’t going to be easy.’

Paasi added: ‘We need to dive straight back and bring the miners more supplies to gain strength and get ready for the way out.’

With more rainfall expected, Thai rescuer Kengkad Bongkawong said Thursday that teams were racing to remove water from the cave.

‘If we are able to pump out a lot of water tonight, we will begin the extraction tonight,’ he wrote on social media.

‘But if it is deemed too risky after an assessment, we will reconsider.’

Even getting to the site will be a challenge, Paasi said: ‘The environment is extremely remote and hostile that starts with [a] 4km jungle track to the site.

‘When inside the mine you have to navigate hundreds of metres of constant restrictions, flood waters, collapse hazards and high risk of contaminated air quality.’

So far, rescuers have cut an access road, installed air flow and water pumps and even a WiFi connection to the first chamber of the cave complex.

Foreign rescuers – including two divers involved in the dramatic 2018 retrieval of a youth football team from a flooded cave in Thailand – joined Laotian volunteers this week after local groups requested specialist personnel and equipment to aid efforts.

Kengkad said a Malaysian cave diver was one of the latest foreigners to join the rescue operation.

Additional divers from Japan, France, Indonesia and Thailand were expected to arrive on Friday ‘to prevent emergencies, including the risk from additional rainwater expected to flow in tomorrow’.

The cave system, located in a remote mountainous area, extends deep underground, with multiple levels and tight tunnels.

On Thursday morning, rain sent more soil and water into the cave, according to a Laotian logistics staffer for a firm supplying vehicles to support the rescue operation.

‘If there isn’t too much more rain, they may be able to bring them out today. But if heavier rain comes, it could take a few more days,’ said the man, who requested anonymity due to fears of reprisal from his employer.

Local villagers, rescue groups and logistics workers were also supporting the operation, with more than 20 people standing by at the cave entrance, he said.

‘Morale improved yesterday. People are happy and hopeful today after the five people were found.’

Unprecedented Drone Strike Hits Romanian Apartment Amid Russia-Ukraine Conflict: NATO Tensions Rise

0

A NATO member, Romania, faced an alarming incident on Friday when a drone collided with an apartment complex, leading to a subsequent explosion and fire. Local officials reported that the event resulted in several injuries.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense revealed that the drone incident was part of a broader overnight attack by Russia targeting areas in neighboring Ukraine, close to the Romanian border.

According to the ministry, the drone breached Romanian airspace and was monitored by radar systems until it reached the southern part of Galați municipality. It eventually crashed onto the roof of a residential apartment building, causing the damage and injuries.

Romania, which holds membership in both NATO and the European Union, has documented over two dozen instances of Russian drones violating its airspace since the start of Moscow’s offensive against Ukraine.

The situation escalated to the point where NATO had to scramble warplanes as Russian military actions neared the Romanian border in Ukraine.

Friday’s incident marked the first time a drone struck a populated area in Romania, resulting in injuries.

Romania’s state news agency reported that a woman and her child were hospitalized with minor injuries, while two other people were treated at the scene for panic attacks.

Following the incident, Romania requested additional anti-drone capabilities from NATO and described the drone’s flight path as a serious violation of international law, according to The Associated Press.

Romania’s emergency response agency said the drone struck the apartment building and exploded, sparking a fire on the 10th floor.

The agency said the drone’s entire explosive payload detonated upon impact.

Seventy people were evacuated from the building, authorities said. The fire has since been brought under control.

The defense ministry said two F-16 fighter jets and a military helicopter were deployed to monitor the Russian attack. The pilots were authorized to shoot down any drones that posed a threat.

The incident came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said earlier this week that he was pressing the United States to provide additional Patriot air defense missiles to help counter Russian attacks.

He warned that deliveries to Ukraine were falling dangerously short as the conflict with Iran strains U.S. military resources and stockpiles.

“I believe [the U.S.] must act quicker. We are being very persistent,” Zelenskyy told reporters during a visit to Sweden.

Drone Smuggling Attempt Foiled: Drugs and Phone Seized at Queensland Prison

0
Authorities have intercepted a drone carrying more than $1 million of contraband into Townsville Correctional Complex in North Queensland

On May 17, sharp-eyed officers at the Townsville Correctional Complex discovered a crashed drone that had been loaded with drugs, syringes, and a mobile phone. This incident underscores the ongoing challenge of maintaining security within correctional facilities.

Police and the Corrective Services Investigation Unit are now investigating and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Flying a drone over such facilities is not only a breach of security but also a criminal offense, carrying a potential sentence of up to two years in prison. The risks associated with contraband are significant, threatening both the safety of the facility and the effective rehabilitation of inmates.

Acting Chief Superintendent Silvi Baretta praised the officers for their vigilance and strict adherence to security protocols. “Contraband seriously endangers the safety of our correctional environments and undermines our efforts to provide targeted rehabilitation aimed at reducing reoffending,” Baretta stated. She further commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication to maintaining the safety and order of the facility.

“Not only does contraband pose a substantial safety risk, it threatens our ability to deliver meaningful and targeted rehabilitation to prevent reoffending and keep communities safe,” Baretta said.

“I commend our officers for their professionalism and commitment to the good order and safety of Townsville Correctional Complex.”

Blue Origin Rocket, Owned by Jeff Bezos, Experiences Launch Pad Explosion

0

In Brief

  • Jeff Bezos has committed to rebuilding the rocket, but says the cause of failure is not yet known.
  • Elon Musk, CEO of Blue Origin competitor SpaceX, responded to the failed launch in a post on X, writing: “Rockets are hard.”

Jeff Bezos expressed that Blue Origin encountered a “very rough day” following the explosion of its New Glenn rocket on the launch pad.

The New Glenn rocket from Blue Origin suffered a dramatic explosion during a test on Friday, marking a challenging moment for Bezos’ space company as it strives to compete closely with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Footage shared by NASASpaceflight, a YouTube channel that broadcasts live launches from Florida, captured the New Glenn igniting before it burst into a colossal fireball. The explosion sent a vast plume of flames and smoke towering into the sky.

Blue Origin described the incident as an “anomaly,” a term typically used by rocket companies to denote a failure or explosion during launch.

“During today’s hotfire test, an anomaly occurred. All personnel are safe and accounted for. We will share more information as it becomes available,” the company reported on X.

A hotfire test is where a rocket engine is fired up while anchored to the ground.

In a separate X post, Bezos said ‌it was “too early to know the root cause” of the incident.

“Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and ‌get back to flying. It’s worth it,” he said.

Earlier this week, Blue Origin said it was preparing the New Glenn rocket to launch 48 Amazon Leo satellites into low Earth orbit, as part of efforts to build a broadband constellation to rival Musk’s Starlink network. It did not provide a launch date.

Blue Origin has spent billions of dollars and about a decade developing New Glenn, a 29-storey-high rocket with a reusable first stage meant to compete with SpaceX’s Falcon fleet and its more powerful Starship.

Musk responded on X to a video of the New Glenn explosion, saying: “Most unfortunate. Rockets are hard.”

The US Federal Aviation Administration did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Suspect in Taylor Swift Concert Attack Plot in Vienna Receives 15-Year Sentence

0

An Austrian court handed down a 15-year prison sentence to a man on Thursday for scheming to target a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna almost two years ago.

The court in Wiener Neustadt, located just south of Vienna, convicted the 21-year-old Austrian, referred to as Beran A. due to privacy regulations in Austria. He faced several charges, including those connected to the concert plot.

Although the planned attack was foiled, Austrian officials decided to cancel Swift’s trio of performances scheduled for August 2024.

During the trial’s opening last month, Beran A.’s lawyer confirmed that his client confessed to the charges regarding the concert attack.

Offering a brief final statement before the court deliberated on its decision, Beran A. expressed remorse, stating, “I would just like to say that I am sorry.”

Beran A. allegedly planned to target people outside the Ernst Happel Stadium with knives or homemade explosives.

Tens of thousands of Taylor Swift fans, known as Swifties, had traveled to Austria to attend the performances of the American singer’s record-setting Eras Tour.

Devastated by the cancellations, many gathered in central Vienna to trade friendship bracelets and commiserate.

Beran A. also allegedly networked with members of the Islamic State group ahead of the planned attack.

Prosecutors have said they discussed purchasing weapons and making bombs, and that the defendant also sought to illegally buy weapons in the days ahead of the performance, as well as swearing allegiance to the militant group.

Authorities searched his apartment on Aug. 7, 2024, and found bomb-making materials. The concerts were scheduled to begin the next day.

“Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating,” Swift wrote in a statement posted to Instagram two weeks later. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.”

He was tried alongside Arda K., another 21-year-old whose full name also has not been made public. They, along with a third man, Hasan E., who was arrested and remains in pretrial detention in Saudi Arabia, allegedly planned to carry out simultaneous attacks in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates during Ramadan 2024 in the name of IS.

Only Beran A. was charged in connection with the concert plot. The two defendants were found guilty of charges including traveling and training for terrorist purposes, and being part of a terrorist organization, the Austria Press Agency reported.

The court also found the pair guilty of contributing to attempted murder, a charge linked to Hasan E.’s alleged stabbing of a security officer in Mecca in March 2024. Hasan E. also attacked and wounded three other officers and a woman before he was arrested, according to prosecutors.

Beran A. and Arda K. did not carry out their alleged plans in the UAE and Turkey. Beran A. returned to Vienna and later allegedly began plotting to attack the Swift concert there.

Arda K. was given a 12-year sentence. The two men listened stoically to the verdict and the sentencing, APA reported.

Beran A.’s lawyer, Anna Mair, said after the verdict that she would discuss with her client in the coming days whether to accept the verdict.

Unveiling Marie Osmond’s Makeup Secret: The True Story Behind Her Flawless Public Appearances

It’s not your imagination if you’ve never caught a glimpse of Marie Osmond without her signature full glam. The former panelist of “The Talk” is seldom seen without her makeup, a choice rooted in advice from her mother years ago. Marie shared this personal tidbit in a 2016 Facebook post.

Don’t think you’ve ever seen Marie Osmond with full glam? You’re not imagining it: the former “The Talk” panelist is rarely, if ever, seen with a bare face, and as she explained in a 2016 Facebook post, that was because of something her mom told her years ago.

“My mother told me at a young age ‘Marie never leave the house without lipstick!’” the singer penned, alongside a meme of a monkey with the caption, “On a bad hair day there is always lipstick.” Slightly antiquated advice? Maybe, but it’s safe to say the former child star didn’t have a problem with it. After all, in an Instagram post several years later, she shared a makeup transformation of herself into Marilyn Monroe. That came with the caption, “I love the art of makeup and how it can transform your face. Well … I took it even further to become another face.” Marie even has an Instagram Stories Highlight on some of those transformations, and as she gushed in a caption of one of the videos saved to it (which saw her use glam to channel her inner Dolly Parton), “Makeup is my hobby.”

Marie has also gushed about playing around with makeup with none other than Cher. “She taught me some makeup tips,” she recalled in an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” sharing that she’d learned to pop glitter on her lipstick from the music icon. The same day, she took to Instagram to share snaps of one of their hangouts. “I mentioned I’d post photos of Cher with me after our shows in Vegas, having fun with both of our loves … makeup!!!” she captioned the carousel. Marie has gone through some serious tragedy in her life, but it’s safe to say her mom telling her to always wear lipstick doesn’t fall into that category!

Marie’s fans love her makeup looks

While not everyone opts for a full face of makeup daily, Marie embraces her mother’s guidance of never stepping out without lipstick and her complete glam look. It reflects a choice and comfort in her style, and it’s a testament to her individuality and personal tradition, something we can certainly appreciate.

Of course, it’s worth noting that the vast majority of Marie’s Instagram followers aren’t making demands about how she chooses to present herself. In fact, just about every one of her makeup-related posts have requests from people asking her to do tutorials. One even suggested the mom of eight publish a coffee table book of all her iconic looks over the years. Fellow artists have gushed over Marie’s makeup chops, too, like singer Kelly Lang who commented under Marie’s throwback pictures with Cher, “I fondly remember the day you did my makeup. What a great memory. I think of you and everything you taught me every time I put my makeup on. You are loved sister.”

Not everyone wants to rock a full face of glam every day, and that’s their prerogative. However, it seems safe to say Marie is happy to stick with her mom’s rule of never leaving her own home without lipstick (or the rest of her glam repertoire), and we love that for her.

Texas Man Arrested for Alleged Threat Against Erika Kirk at TPUSA Event: Safety Concerns Rise

0

A man from Texas has been arrested for allegedly threatening the life of Erika Kirk while working as her ‘valet’ at an upcoming event organized by Turning Point USA.

Jacob Wenske, 26, was apprehended on Wednesday by the San Antonio Police Department. He faces accusations of making death threats against Kirk last month, as reported by KENS5.

The allegations stem from an April 12 Facebook post that promoted Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit, scheduled for June 5 to 7 at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter hotel. Details from an affidavit obtained by the news outlet indicate Wenske’s involvement.

The post highlighted that Kirk, who assumed the role of CEO for Turning Point USA following the assassination of her husband, Charlie Kirk, last September, would be attending the summit.

In the comments section of the post, Wenske allegedly wrote, “I know exactly where to bomb,” threatening Kirk’s safety.

He then cryptically added: ‘I can’t wait to be the valet for her escort.’

An investigation revealed that Wenske had worked for a parking management company that provided valet services to hotels and special events.

He was charged with two felony counts of making a terroristic threat involving public fear or serious bodily injury or public disruption.

Authorities said Wenske’s comments were ‘commonly interpreted as threats of mass–casualty violence.’

His remarks could allegedly be interpreted as surveillance of the event and its entry points.

Wenske was also accused of having sent an email on January 26 in which he wrote, ‘Death to Erika Kirk and every single speaker there!!’

According to the affidavit, he added: ‘America will live on without those scum on this earth. Every Christian nationalist shall perish in the bombing that will take place at every single Turning Point rally and event.’

In addition to Kirk, other speakers at Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit include US Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders and former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

Investigators also allegedly found several threatening public posts or comments related to Turning Point USA.

Wenske was also accused of having directly told Turning Point USA that he was threatening death towards Kirk.

His Facebook profile was confirmed through subscriber records, a registered email address, a linked phone number and IP address information.

Wenske was arrested by the San Antonio Police Department on Wednesday and booked into jail at 4.24am on Thursday, according to Bexar County records viewed by the Daily Mail.

As of Friday night, he remained at the Bexar Adult Detention Center with a total bond set at $120,000.

Records showed that Wenske’s next court appearance will be on August 25 for a pre–indictment.

Turning Point USA said it was grateful to the San Antonio police and the FBI for arresting Wenske.

‘We refuse to let threats silence us,’ the conservative organization posted on X. ‘We look forward to a successful and inspiring gathering June 5–7 in San Antonio for 2,500+ ladies attending the Women’s Leadership Summit!’

The message was reposted by Erika Kirk.

Last month, she canceled a planned appearance at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Georgia over safety concerns.

She was set to appear with Vice President JD Vance, who said Kirk had received ‘some threats.’

‘After all our family has been through, I take my security team’s recommendations extremely seriously,’ Kirk wrote then on X.

Her husband Charlie was assassinated while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Wenske’s court–appointed attorney, Ninfa Carrillo, the San Antonio Police Department and Turning Point USA for comment.
