Ken Jennings Reveals Top ‘Jeopardy!’ Prep Secret and the Challenging Category That Tested His Nerves

Ken Jennings advises aspiring “Jeopardy!” contestants not to overcomplicate their preparation process.

“The best way to get ready for the show is simply by watching it,” Jennings shared with Fox News Digital during the TCM Classic Film Festival’s red carpet event.

“By regularly viewing ‘Jeopardy!,’ you naturally absorb the rhythm of the host’s voice and become familiar with the types of questions and topics that are featured. This is key to becoming a skilled ‘Jeopardy!’ player.”

For those looking to intensively prepare, Jennings recommends focusing on memorizing the U.S. presidents and first ladies in order, as well as world capitals.

“These areas offer the most efficient use of study time if you’re cramming for ‘Jeopardy!’,” Jennings noted, recalling his own extensive study sessions prior to his historic 74-game winning streak on the show in 2004.

And as a former contestant, Jennings admits he has “so much empathy” for players.

“EverybodyI think a lot of viewers don’t realize we do a full week at a time,” Jennings explained. “Like, we do five ‘Jeopardy!’s in one day. So, when a player wins, they have to rush off stage, put on a new outfit. I put on a new suit.

“We come back out 10 minutes later, and then I tell the great lie, which is like yesterday on ‘Jeopardy!’ but it was not yesterday! It was 10 minutes ago. We’re just fooling you.”

He explained that that means, “when players win for weeks at a time, like Jamie Ding has been doing in recent weeks, it’s an endurance contest. That’s a real marathon for them. They’ve got to play and then go back and play again.”

And for Jennings, a love of trivia goes a lot deeper than a memorable run on the show.

“I guess I remember being a kid and running home from school every day to watch Alex host ‘Jeopardy!’ and just thinking, you know, in real life, this makes me a little bit weird that I like knowing all this stuff,” he explained.

“Like, I’m very aware that this distinguishes me from other people. But for Alex, that was like a safe space. You know? ‘Jeopardy’ was a safe place for that.”

He added, “There’s certain kind of person where like, they need that safe space, you know, because curiosity is so important.”

Always humble, Jennings, admitted that he never thought in “a million years” that he would host the show.

“People would ask me, ‘Hey, like, if Alex were — you’ve been on Jeopardy for months — if Alex were to retire, would you like to be a host?’ And I said, ‘That will never happen in a million years. They’ll get a real broadcaster for this job.

“Everybody with a good TV resume is going to want this job, I’m not even going to get a tryout. Nobody is more surprised than me that I’m hosting ‘Jeopardy!’ but I just love this show so much. I feel very lucky.”

Opera Star Wynne Evans Triumphs as 2023 Celebrity MasterChef Champion

Wynne Evans has triumphed as the champion of Celebrity MasterChef 2023, yet the show’s audience shared a notable grievance regarding the final episode’s brief 30-minute duration.

The 51-year-old opera singer and broadcaster outshone fellow contestants Luca Bish and Amy Walsh with his daring culinary creations, winning the favor of judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace. In the climactic showdown, the finalists were challenged to deliver a flawless three-course meal within a two-hour time frame, vying for the prestigious title of the 18th Celebrity MasterChef champion.

Wynne distinguished himself by crafting a remarkable feast, featuring a Japanese-inspired tuna tartare and a perfectly executed cannon of lamb, proving his culinary prowess and earning the top spot.

Despite the excitement surrounding Wynne’s victory, many viewers expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, noting that while they were thrilled with the outcome, they felt the final episode’s short length left much to be desired.

However, viewers took to social media to complain about the final, as although they were pleased with the result, they were left disappointed by the short running time.

Writing on Twitter, now known as X, fans complained that the MasterChef final is always too short as they described it as an ‘anti-climax’.

One wrote: ‘Unfortunately didn’t listen last time, the final is always too short – can easily make it an hours show, disappointed.’

While another added: ‘Surely we deserve an hour long final show? Highlights of everyone’s best bits and end with bringing them all back together. I feel robbed by 30 little minutes of a final!’

However, viewers were still pleased to see Wynne crowned the MasterChef champion, after he won fans over during his time on the show.

Reacting to his win, Wynne said: ‘This is a brilliant feeling. The kids will love this, they’ll be like “Dad! I can’t believe you did it when all you cook for us is beans on toast!”.

‘The experience has totally changed my life. It has just been beautiful and I can’t thank Gregg and John and everybody here at MasterChef enough.

‘When you start to believe in yourself, that’s when good things start to happen. I don’t know how a MasterChef winner celebrates but I know how a bloke from Carmarthen celebrates!’

In typical Wynne style, the entertainer celebrated his win by balancing the trophy on his head and bursting into song.

And viewers at home were equally chuffed with Wynne’s win as they soon took to Twitter to share their reactions over his triumph.

One person shared: ‘Massive congratulations to Wynne, what a lovely man he is and a fabulous cook, a well deserved winner.’

A second tweeted: ‘Fantastic! Very well deserved. Thoroughly lovely bloke and some fantastic dishes!’

‘Absolutely amazing win, @wynneevans!! You’ve done yourself and Wales proud! It all looks so lush. Da iawn!’ shared an excited third fan.

‘Reckon the BBC should get @wynneevans doing a cooking show while he sings. It’s quite superb’ wrote a fourth watcher.

‘It’s a win for Wynne! Congratulations @wynneevans #CelebrityMasterChef champion. Well deserved’ remarked a fifth.

With another adding: ‘The Absolutely FAB-U-LOUS @wynneevans wins #CelebrityMasterChef so well deserved. Best celebrity ’Wynner’ ever by a country mile.’

After six gruelling weeks in which he beat off stiff competition from several aspiring cooks, Wynne saved his best for last as he whipped up a menu which initially had Gregg unsure of his unusual combination.

The star of the Go Compare adverts cooked up a starter of Carmarthen-Japanese sumo tuna tartare with avocado, edamame beans and wasabi, served with deep-fried cockle popcorn and a mango egg.

This was then followed by a main of bread of Evans cannon of lamb, served on samphire with wild garlic, porcini mushrooms and lamb rendered fried bread, with pomme dauphine and a fondant leek, finished with a red wine and red currant jus.

Finally for dessert, the Welshman served Bara Brith with Caerphilly cheese and fig jam, served with brie ice cream on crumbled Bara Brith and poached figs.

Gregg Wallace said of the win: ‘Wynne gives us theatre. I have never seen a celebrity like him ever before and I’m not sure we ever will again.’

While John Torode added: ‘Every single dish tells a story. His food, it’s exciting, it’s ambitious, and it’s got a little bit of artistic flare. He’s a proud Welshman with a big heart.’

Discover Mindy Kaling’s Inspiring Body Transformation Journey and the Secrets Behind Her Success

In a heartfelt moment on Good Morning America back in 2021, she revealed, “This is my greatest insecurity and someone just called it out. It’s really devastating.”

Criticism has also followed her for shedding pounds, with some fans feeling let down as if she had changed from the person they initially admired.

Speaking to Bustle, Kaling reflected, “It’s sometimes disappointing when one of your favorite actors loses weight. You remember them a certain way, and that image is part of why they became so beloved to you.”

Being at the receiving end of such sentiments isn’t easy, but she noted, “I truly get it, as someone who avidly follows pop culture.”

So, why not apply that understanding to herself as well? Despite the chatter, Kaling has been deeply committed to her personal wellness journey, choosing to focus more on feeling great. If she happens to enjoy how she looks along the way, then that’s an added bonus:

Shocking Moment: Brad Fittler Sparks Outrage with Controversial Comment on NRL Star

Brad Fittler has found himself in hot water after making an inappropriate comment during Channel Nine’s broadcast of the NRL game between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the North Queensland Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.

Fittler, a notable figure in rugby league, made the controversial remark when Cowboys player Tom Chester made a significant run in the 50th minute of the match. Unfortunately, Chester failed to convert the opportunity into a try by not passing the ball to a teammate.

“Chester the molester, he’s blown it,” Fittler commented in the aftermath of the 25-year-old player’s error.

The remark sparked immediate backlash, with one viewer expressing outrage on social media: “Seriously @NRLonNine, it’s disgraceful to allow someone like Brad Fittler to hold a microphone. @nthqldcowboys should file a complaint about what Fittler said. @NRL needs to address this as well.”

Another critic added, “Brad Fittler calling Tom Chester ‘Chester The Molester’ on live national TV is just another example of why being skilled at playing rugby doesn’t automatically qualify someone for a media role with significant influence. It’s disgraceful, but the old saying ‘boys will be boys’ seems to prevail.”

‘Freddy was an amazing player (and I’m a Queenslander) but he sucks as a commentator,’ added a third.

Other comments included ‘Brad Fittler be better’ and ‘Disgusting’.

Fittler reportedly contacted Cowboys officials after the match to apologise, and the club will not be pursuing the matter.

Chester was one of the best players on the ground as the Cowboys ran out 30-18 winners, scoring a try in the 34th minute.

It’s not the first time the league icon known as ‘Freddy’ has got into trouble while commentating for Nine.

In August 2024 he was slammed for an inappropriate remark made while interviewing Paris Olympics gold medallists Jess and Noemie Fox on the sideline at an NRL match.

The 54-year-old was standing between the sisters when he said, ‘I’m waiting for the kiss cam to come on for me.’

The cringeworthy moment included a mortified reaction from the Foxes as Fittler persisted by asking, ‘Not happening?’

After the grand final later that year, Fittler ran into Jess Fox again in the sheds, awkwardly offering her a limited-edition Tooheys beer that celebrated the Panthers’ fourth straight premiership.

Fittler offered Jess Fox the drink and said: ‘Four in a row. Says it on the beer. They’ve earned it. Jess, can you take that? You can have that.’

Fox looked shocked and taken aback before refusing the offer by saying, ‘Um, nah, nah.’

Channel Nine has been contacted for comment.

Fittler has been a long-standing member of the Nine commentary team since calling time on his playing career at the end of the 2004 season.

He played 336 matches for the Panthers and Roosters, starred for NSW in 31 State of Origin games, captaining the side for many of those, and represented his country 38 times, also rising to become skipper of the Kangaroos side.

Fitter won the 1991 grand final with Penrith and the 2002 premiership with the Tricolours, before also turning to coaching.

He led the Roosters from 2007 to 2009, and coached the Blues in Origin in 18 games from 2018 to 2023.

Unveiling the Alarming Red Flags: Inside the Shooter’s Path to the White House Tragedy

0

In a tragic confrontation near the White House, a 21-year-old man, identified as Nasire Best, was fatally shot after engaging in a gunfight with Secret Service agents. Law enforcement sources have revealed that Best believed himself to be Jesus Christ.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Washington, DC, when Best, who hailed from Maryland, was seen pacing along 17th Street Northwest. According to reports from the New York Post, this peculiar behavior preceded the moment he drew a revolver.

Best, who reportedly had a history of mental health issues, had prior interactions with security personnel at the White House, as mentioned by NBC. This background painted a concerning picture leading up to the events of that evening.

Witnesses described a tense scene as Best approached the Secret Service checkpoint. It was there that he retrieved a firearm from his bag and began firing, prompting agents to respond with deadly force.

He approached the Secret Service booth and pulled out a weapon from his bag before unleashing a hail of bullets.

The White House was immediately placed on lockdown as President Donald Trump was inside, although he was unharmed.

An adult civilian was injured during the shooting, although authorities said they were unclear if they were wounded by the suspect or during crossfire.

Journalists gathered at the White House reported hearing up to 30 shots which left them scrambling for cover.

It has since emerged Best previously come to the attention of the Secret Service and had violated an earlier court order requiring him to stay away from the White House grounds, NBC reports.

He was detained by Secret Service on June 26, 2025, for flagging down agents and making threats, and two weeks later on July 10, 2025, for entering a restricted area.

During the June incident, Best blocked an entry lane at the White House. He was detained by the Secret Service after claiming he was ‘God’ then committed to the Psychiatric Institute of Washington for a mental evaluation.

The following month he was arrested once again after he attempted to enter a driveway at the White House. Afterward, a judge issued an order demanding he stay away from the White House grounds.

While investigators have not formally established a motive, multiple law enforcement sources said Best was believed to be suffering from severe mental health issues and had claimed at times to be Jesus Christ.

A preliminary investigation indicates that as the individual approached, he removed a weapon from his bag and began firing at posted officers,’ the Secret Service said in a statement, which confirmed no agents were harmed.

Journalists at the scene were left shaken following the incident. Many of those present were also at last month’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting,

The press pool had been dismissed about an hour earlier before the shots rang out, with just a few broadcast journalists and photographers remaining on site.

Reporters who were already inside the White House were told to shelter in place while Secret Service agents shouted ‘get down’ and warned of ‘shots fired.’

They have since been released from the briefing room and the lockdown has been lifted.

The president was inside the White House at the time as he was working on an Iran peace deal with Middle Eastern leaders inside the Oval Office.

Trump aides Steven Cheung, Natalie Harp, Margo Martin, and others were all present with the president when shooting occurred.

The gunfire came from the 17th Street side of the White House, closer to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

Evidence of the shooting was visible on a sidewalk just outside the White House complex, where yellow crime scene tape snaked across the pavement and officers with the Secret Service placed dozens of orange evidence markers on the ground.

Medical material, including what appeared to be purple surgical gloves and kits typically used by emergency medical personnel, were also seen.

***Please see end of article for updates***

On Saturday evening, a series of gunshots echoed near the White House, prompting the U.S. Secret Service to initiate a lockdown. The alarming incident unfolded as gunfire was clearly audible outside the presidential residence.

ABC News White House Correspondent Selina Wang managed to capture the tense moment on camera. She shared the footage on X, formerly known as Twitter, at 6:20 p.m. EST on the same day.

Watch Below:

Wang recounted the experience, saying, “I was in the midst of filming a social media video on my iPhone from the North Lawn of the White House when the sound of gunfire erupted. It appeared to be multiple shots fired in rapid succession.”

“I was in the middle of taping on my iPhone for a social video from the White House North Lawn when we heard the shots. It sounded like dozens of gunshots,” Wang said.

The White House correspondent added that the media was then “told to sprint to the press briefing room where we are holding now.”

“Shots fired at the white house,” DC News Now anchor Chris Flanagan wrote on X 11 minutes earlier. “I heard about 30 shots. Secret service rushed us into press briefing room.”

NBC News Correspondent Julie Tsirkin also posted to X, declaring, “GUNSHOTS heard outside of the White House.”

“Approximately 20-30,” she added. “Secret service told those of us gathered on the north lawn to run inside the press briefing room.”

In a follow-up post, Tsirkin shared a photo of her view from lockdown, writing, “Outside the press briefing doors right now… USSS officers, gun drawn, told us to run inside. White House now on lockdown.”

“FBI is on the scene and supporting Secret Service responding to shots fired near White House grounds – we will update the public as we’re able,” FBI Director Kash Patel said.

Law enforcement, meanwhile, said the Secret Service shot two men outside the White House on 17th and Pennsylvania NW, according to attorney Mike Davis.

The gunshots “appeared outside of the grounds, closer to the EEOB building, which is on the west side of the White House,” CNN reported.

Rumer Willis Unveils the Surprising Reason Behind Her Dramatic Facial Transformation

Rumer Willis is reveling in the joy of her current life chapter, and it seems her happiness is radiating through her physical appearance as well.

During her appearance on the “The Inside Edit” podcast on Monday, May 18, Willis, 37, shared her perspective, saying, “Interestingly, I believe the way I look now is a reflection of the inner work I’ve done.” She added with confidence, “I’m feeling more attractive than ever before.”

The star of Reasonable Doubt was quick to clarify that her enhanced looks aren’t the result of cosmetic surgery.

“It’s not because I’ve undergone a lot of plastic surgery. I don’t even use Botox anymore, though I wish I could,” Willis admitted with a laugh. “That’s why you see all these lines on my forehead when I talk.”

In addition to embracing her newfound confidence, Rumer Willis is also candid about the realities of parenting. She recently addressed criticisms of her parenting style, specifically regarding breastfeeding her toddler. On Saturday, April 4, Willis took to Instagram to share a video of herself breastfeeding her nearly 3-year-old daughter, Louetta Isley Thomas Willis, accompanied by a message: “When someone starts judging my parenting…”

Willis revealed, “My face, literally, has physically changed from spiritual work I have done. Which has been crazy.”

She acknowledged that her face is thinner than it was before she had her daughter, Lou, in April 2023, but it’s all because of the mental changes she’s made.

“I’ve literally not done anything other than [spiritual work]. I think I had this layer of hiding,” Willis shared. “I had this layer of, ‘Don’t see me. I’m not pretty.’ I kept repeating that to myself.”

The actress confessed, “I feel like once I had Lou, all of a sudden I was like, ‘I can f***ing do anything.’”

Willis welcomed her and then-boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas’ first baby, Louetta “Lou” Isley, in April 2023 following a home birth. “You are pure magic 🌱,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “You are more than we ever dreamed of ✨.”

The couple, however, called it quits the following year after two years of dating.

She added, “I’m forever grateful I was able to have the time in that relationship for her to come into my life.”

As Rumer, who is the eldest daughter of exes Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, has leaned into single parenthood, she hasn’t shied away from telling it like it is.

“Just had a good cry in the woods. Some days being a single mom is hard,” she wrote via her Instagram Story in November 2025. “[My daughter] is not hard (ever) but some days doing everything alone can be.”

Louetta, 2, appeared eager […]

Rumer got real about her evolution as a mother and a woman during her appearance on “The Inside Edit” podcast, telling her friend and the host, Maeve Reilly, that she is “just starting to feel back in my power.”

“I work really hard, and I show up for my kid. It’s such a privilege to be a mom. It makes me so happy,” Rumer explained on Monday’s episode, noting over the past eight months she has been “feeling kind of confident and feeling back into myself” following her split.

Now, Rumer is ready to date, but only when the right man comes along.

“If I meet a dude that is not interested in having kids, sorry, got to go,” she revealed. “Or someone who is not willing to grow and has an interest in self-reflection and that kind of thing. Sorry, buddy.”

Family of Shooting Survivor Criticizes True-Crime Documentary for Allegedly Misrepresenting Olympic Equestrian Shooter as the Victim

The relatives of a New Jersey woman, who gained widespread attention after an Olympic equestrian coach shot her, are voicing their disapproval over how two true crime documentaries have depicted the case. They argue the narratives unfairly favor the shooter.

The Netflix documentary “Untold: The Shooting at Hawthorne Hill,” set for release in 2026, alongside a 2022 episode of CBS News’ “48 Hours,” delve into the chilling ordeal of Lauren Kanarek. Kanarek, a dressage competitor, endured two gunshot wounds to her chest by Michael Barisone, an Olympic athlete, at his Long Valley farm back in 2019.

Kanarek miraculously survived the attack, leading to Barisone’s arrest on multiple serious charges, including first-degree attempted murder.

In a dramatic 2022 trial, a jury in Morris County acquitted Barisone on the grounds of insanity, resulting in his release from a psychiatric institution after a year.

The shooting quickly became a popular topic within true crime media, with “48 Hours” and Netflix both releasing shows retelling Kanarek’s story. But shortly after Netflix’s release earlier this year, her family began disputing filmmakers’ version of events, alleging both documentaries put a larger emphasis on Barisone’s side of the story while portraying him as the victim.

“It’s horrible. In the case of ‘48 Hours’, we were just flabbergasted at the time,” Jonathan Kanarek, Lauren’s father, told Fox News Digital. “It was so defamatory about Lauren.”

The release of both shows opened the door to a public harassment against Kanarek, including endless social media comments and ostracism within the equestrian community, according to her father.

“CBS has a big audience of true crime fans,” Jonathan Kanarek said. “These true crime people, this is what they do. Lauren’s getting all this hate mail, [saying], ‘You should be dead, you miserable b—-. He should have shot you in the head.’”

Steven Beer, the Kanarek family attorney, echoed the father’s sentiments surrounding the case’s portrayal in mainstream media.

“I don’t think anyone who viewed ‘48 Hours’ or ‘Untold’ on Netflix could view that as a slice of victim advocacy,” Beer told Fox News Digital.

Beer added that upon watching Netflix’s trailer for the show, they grew suspicious that the documentary was not giving air to Kanarek’s side of the story and approached Netflix and Propagate, the film’s production company, to request a screener ahead of its release.

“We asked Netflix and Propagate for a copy of the screener of the film beforehand so we could help Lauren manage her anxiety,” Beer said. “And they turned us down, [which was] just shocking. So that certainly was a confirmation of what we could expect.”

According to Beer, Kanarek and her family were especially disheartened by what they believe was an attempt by Netflix and “48 Hours” to reframe her story for the sake of profits and popularity.

“After all the things that have happened in the world of sports and in the world in general, where powerful people have victimized or intimidated young women, that in this particular environment where we feel we are shining a light on this and talking about support and holding powerful people accountable,” Beer said. “It’s just a head-scratcher that Propagate and Netflix would disregard that conversation and the opportunity to do well.”

“All they had to do was be responsible and tell a story that wasn’t solely geared at giving the audience the impression that maybe [Lauren] could have driven [Barisone] to that point,” Beer continued. “As if anything Lauren could have done would have merited Michael Barisone from getting a gun and attempting to kill her.”

Kanarek began training under Barisone in 2018 and eventually moved into an on-site apartment with her fiancé at his training farm, Hawthorne Hill. However, the pair’s working relationship quickly turned sour, with the Netflix documentary revealing both individuals blamed each other for the fallout.

Posts made by Kanarek to Facebook at the time played a large role in both the criminal trial and subsequent documentary, with Barisone telling “48 Hours” the fallout was substantial.

“There were things coming out on social media that were horrific,” Barisone said in an episode of “48 Hours” about the shooting. “I remember complete and total panic. Everybody says I was unglued. I was unglued.”

However, both Kanarek and her family have vehemently denied that the posts were intended to make Barisone feel uncomfortable, with Kanarek telling Netflix the posts were made in response to Barisone’s girlfriend trying to keep her from riding at the farm.

Months of tension came to a head on Aug. 7, 2019, when Barisone confronted Kanarek and her fiancé, Rob Goodwin, while the pair were staying on his property, and shot her twice in the chest.

“I’m walking over to him, and he is just staring at me,” Kanarek said in the Netflix documentary. “There was just something not right. And immediately, Michael pulls out a gun, shoots at me, bang, bang.”

She was subsequently transported to a hospital and placed in a medically induced coma for several days as doctors raced to save her life.

“After a month in the hospital, she was able to leave and they spent the last several years going through her recovery, which – at least the physical parts – will never end,” Jonathan Kanarek told Fox News Digital.

Kanarek ultimately walked away with a damaged left lung and required several reconstructive surgeries stemming from the shooting.

In 2025, Barisone was permanently banned from riding in events sanctioned by the U.S. Equestrian Foundation by SafeSport on the grounds of “sexual harassment; emotional misconduct; violated NGB policies/bylaws,” according to its website. The decision is eligible for appeal.

Additionally, Kanarek was paid an unspecified amount for her appearance in the documentary, according to NJ.com. Barisone, however, was not paid, according to a GoFundMe created on his behalf.

“Despite wild claims of us being paid upwards of six figures for our interviews, we did not ask for nor receive a dime,” a March 4 update to the fundraiser read. “We were told the show has a small budget to pay for some documents, which we declined, as we did not want to give them exclusive rights to certain documents.”

The fundraiser has received more than $85,000 in donations for Barisone.

In light of the show’s release, Kanarek is hoping her story of survival and victim advocacy will inspire change within institutions that have a responsibility to protect women.

“[Lauren] has a purpose as she moves forward. She is not a professional victim,” Beer told Fox News Digital. “She wants people to learn from her experience and to help spark that constructive conversation.”

“She is healing, and that is paramount,” Beer added. “Part of her healing is trying to bring light from darkness, and trying to bring good from her tragic circumstances so that fewer women have to endure this kind of toxic environment – where they are vulnerable to intimidation, harassment and worse from powerful gatekeepers.”
