Trump Announces Progress on Iran Deal Negotiations, While Iran Challenges Hormuz Statements

0

IN BRIEF

  • Deal would include reopening Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, but Iran said his assertion is “inconsistent with reality”.
  • Iran is seeking an end to US blockade, sanctions relief and and supervision of strait.

On Sunday, former US President Donald Trump announced that a significant agreement with Iran was nearing completion. This potential deal would involve reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, although he noted that the agreement still required final touches.

Trump shared on his Truth Social platform, “An Agreement has been largely negotiated, subject to finalization between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the various other Countries.” He mentioned several Middle Eastern nations alongside Türkiye and Pakistan, which acted as a mediator.

He added that among the key elements of the agreement, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened, a crucial passage for global oil shipments.

However, shortly after Trump’s statement, Iran’s Fars news agency reported a different perspective. It stated that the Strait of Hormuz would continue to be managed by Iran, reflecting the latest communication between Tehran and Washington.

The Iranian agency labeled Trump’s claim of reopening the strait as part of the “largely negotiated” deal as “incomplete and inconsistent with reality.”

Among the Middle East countries whose leaders joined a call on Sunday to discuss the deal were Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain, Trump said.

He added that he had a separate call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying it “likewise, went very well”.

“Final aspects and details of the Deal are currently being discussed, and will be announced shortly,” Trump said.

His optimistic post came after Iranian officials said gaps remained between the parties, and that the dispute over its nuclear program would not be part of the initial talks. Iran said it was finalising a 14-point framework for a deal.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei noted what he called “a trend towards rapprochement”, but said “it does not necessarily mean that we and the United States will reach an agreement on the important issues”.

“Our intention was first to draft a memorandum of understanding, a kind of framework agreement composed of 14 clauses,” he said on state television.

Baqaei added that he hoped the details of a final agreement could be worked out “within a reasonable timeframe between 30 to 60 days” after the framework is finalised.

‘Another act of folly’

Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had warned earlier that Washington would face a tough response if it resumed hostilities, after US media reports raised the prospect of new strikes and Iranian officials accused the US side of making “excessive demands”.

“Our armed forces have rebuilt themselves during the ceasefire period in such a way that if Trump commits another act of folly and restarts the war, it will certainly be more crushing and bitter for the United States than on the first day of the war,” Ghalibaf said.

He issued the warning after meeting in Tehran with Pakistan’s army chief field marshal Asim Munir, a leading figure in international efforts to negotiate an end to the war, which broke out after the United States and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February.

Weeks of negotiations, including historic face-to-face talks hosted by Islamabad, have still not produced a permanent resolution or restored full access to the Strait of Hormuz, choking vast quantities of global oil supply.

White House Lockdown: Gunman Opens Fire, Escalating Security Alert in Washington D.C.

0

The White House was placed on lockdown following a dramatic incident on Saturday afternoon, as confirmed by Fox News. A gunman, wielding a pistol, unleashed chaos near the iconic residence in Washington, D.C., resulting in an intense confrontation with the U.S. Secret Service.

According to Chad Pergram, Fox News’ Chief Congressional Correspondent, the incident began around 6 p.m. local time when the assailant fired approximately three shots toward the executive mansion. In response, Secret Service agents engaged the shooter, returning fire in the process.

The tense exchange of gunfire took place in the vicinity of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, as detailed by the Secret Service. Amid the chaos, a civilian passing by was caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries. The current condition of this individual remains unclear.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing as many as 30 shots ring out near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, painting a vivid picture of the alarming situation that unfolded near one of the nation’s most secure locations.

As many as 30 shots were reportedly heard in the direction of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The suspect never got inside the general perimeter of the White House grounds, Pergram said.

FBI Director Kash Patel said his agency’s agents are at the scene and “supporting Secret Service responding to shots fired near White House grounds.”

Secret Service agents were heard telling reporters to “get down,” before the press were ushered into the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room in the West Wing.

North Carolina Governor Directs Flags to Half-Staff in Tribute to Kyle Busch

The nation is in deep mourning as it honors the legacy of NASCAR icon Kyle Busch, following his unexpected and tragic passing.

In a heartfelt tribute, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein reflected on Busch’s dual legacy as both a record-breaking driver and a compassionate individual. In a statement released by the North Carolina Department of Transportation on Friday, May 22, the governor announced the lowering of all “U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff” to commemorate the beloved racer.

“Kyle Busch’s absence will resonate throughout NASCAR and far beyond,” he continued, offering sympathy to the Busch family. “Anna and I extend our sincerest condolences during this profoundly challenging time. May his legacy continue to inspire.”

Governor Stein ordered that flags be flown at half-mast from sunrise on Sunday until sunset on May 24 as a tribute to Busch, who passed away on Thursday, May 21, following a brief hospital stay due to a severe illness.

NASCAR CEO Steve ODonnell Makes First Comments Since Death of Kyle Busch

NASCAR CEO Steve O’Donnell has spoken publicly for the first time since Busch’s death on May 21. “Kyle Busch embodied the essence of an American badass,” he remarked to reporters. “He was the driver we all aspired to be, and reflecting on his career, [he was] […]”

“We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sports’ greatest and fiercest drivers,” the official NASCAR social media account announced via X at the time. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.”

On Saturday, a rep for the Busch family confirmed the late racer’s cause of death to NBC News, telling the network that the late athlete died of pneumonia that progressed “into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.” Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, and his two children: son Brexton and daughter Lennix.

The same day that Busch’s cause of death was confirmed, his racing team paid a silent tribute to the athlete at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“A silent garage pays its respect as the No. 22 @RCRacing Chevrolet unloads at @CLTMotorSpdway,” NASCAR wrote via X, alongside a video showing the late driver’s team unloading his vehicle.

The blue, white and red Chevrolet adorned with the Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen logo was unloaded in complete silence. The car’s number was changed from No. 8 to No. 33, though a small No. 8 decal was seen on the door of the vehicle.

More details about the circumstances of NASCAR driver Kyle Busch’s death have come to light. Hours before Busch died at age 41, a 911 call obtained by TMZ reveals that Busch suffered a medical emergency at a training facility in North Carolina. “I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot,” the caller said. […]

On Friday, NASCAR announced that the RCR team “opted to shelf the No. 8” that Busch last drove, switching to the car No. 33 for the foreseeable future. The team indicated it will reserve Busch’s No. 8 for his son “when he is ready.”

In Governor Stein’s Friday announcement, the politician urged others to honor the NASCAR driver by also lowering their flags.

“Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated,” the announcement read in part.

Martin O’Neill’s Triumph: Celtic Secures League and Scottish Cup Double with 3-1 Victory over Dunfermline

0

How a season that seemed destined for disaster turned into one celebrating a second trophy under the gleaming Hampden sun remains a mystery.

The question of what comes next after manager Martin O’Neill’s impressive feats is equally puzzling.

As time passes and O’Neill remains noncommittal about his future at the club, it seems increasingly likely that offering the 74-year-old another contract might be the simplest choice for the board.

Fans clearly adore him, as demonstrated by the enthusiastic chants of his name during the Scottish Cup presentation. The team has also thrived under his leadership during this remarkable third tenure as manager.

Even Neil Lennon, at the final whistle, acknowledged O’Neill by lifting his hand to the away fans, a gesture of deep respect for his former manager and mentor, who has revitalized a club that was in turmoil and struggling for the past four months.

Despite his background, the Northern Irishman faced a real battle when walking back into the wreckage left by Wilfried Nancy before his inevitable January departure after just 33 days in charge.

Yet, amid the celebratory atmosphere within the green-and-white legions when it was clear this final was done and dusted, there were still some firm signs that supporters of the champions want significant change over the summer.

On 65 minutes, a chant of Sack The Board rose, accompanied by banners featuring the crossed-out faces of major shareholder Dermot Desmond and prominent directors. Shortly afterwards, another banner with the words ‘Time For Change! Time’s Up Celtic Board! Time To Go!’.

When the joy of the present is overtaken by the process of looking towards the longer-term future, the question is whether O’Neill, so heavily aligned with Desmond, fits in with the kind of modernising approach desired by a fanbase that spent much of this term in a state of mutiny. And is likely to go back there again.

In many ways, this shaped up as a day of glorious farewells. Daizen Maeda, almost as big a saviour as the boss himself, opened the scoring with his ninth goal in seven games ahead of what will surely be a summer departure. The ‘Arigato Daizen’ sign after time-up recognised that.

Arne Engels scored the second and could be on his way too if another offer in the region of the £25million Nottingham Forest put on the table in January emerges.

Kelechi Iheanacho, who netted the third before Pars sub Josh Cooper’s late consolation, might be offski too. No one quite knows what the future holds for skipper Callum McGregor either.

As O’Neill himself admits, a major reset is needed at Parkhead. Whether he’s going to be there remains a major focus. His body language after this victory was low-key. His reaction at time-up was to embrace Lennon and speak in his ear.

After that, he spoke with coach Mark Fotheringham and looked into the stand to wave to wellwishers. As the celebrations went on at the on-field podium, he chatted to assistant Shaun Maloney. Later on, they gathered for a special photo on the pitch with all the backroom staff.

Maloney’s real job, of course, is Professional Pathways Manager. Rumours have been going round of late, though, that he might be in the hunt for a more important role behind the scenes going forward. Now the season’s over, the time for clarity on Celtic’s path forward is upon us.

No matter what has happened in recent weeks, it feels like now *would* be an apposite time for O’Neill to walk away, on top of the world, legendary status assured, calls for statues out the front of the stadium continuing unabated.

He wants his future cleared up. He has already called for the managerial situation to be sorted out ASAP. That has surely got to happen this week. As a mark of respect to him and everything he’s done, as much as anything else.

Kelechi Iheanacho wheels away after scoring the killer third goal for Celtic

For his old captain Lennon, there will be plenty to reflect upon too. He will no doubt have hoped for more from his youthful squad, particularly in the first 45. They made it to Hampden the hard way, beating Premiership opposition in Hibs, Aberdeen and Falkirk on the journey.

The manager has always admitted they have a tendency to blow hot and cold, though, and they never really did themselves justice here until it was all too late.

You could argue Celtic didn’t let them. After a strength-sapping end to the league campaign that required seven straight victories, it would have been understandable if the champions looked a little leggy.

They didn’t. They were on it.

The reality is that Dunfermline’s hopes evaporated just nine minutes in. Had a poked effort from Callumn Morrison crossed the goal-line after a mix-up in communication between Alistair Johnston and goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo crossed the goal-line, things could have been different. They would have had something to hold onto and fight for.

The chance came about through a long ball that Johnston didn’t deal with. Sinisalo was off his line and Morrison got a foot in to send it trundling towards goal. Liam Scales, a strong performer this term, reacted superbly, though, and did so well to hack the ball off the line.

Nine minutes later, the die was cast. Maeda had already caused some serious issues for John Tod, who ended up hooked at the break, in the early part of the encounter when getting in behind him to latch onto a forward pass from Callum McGregor and going down in the area under the central defender’s challenge.

There were some shouts for a spot-kick. Referee Steven McLean and his team saw no reason to take action. It was an early indication, however, that Celtic were open to using direct means to capitalise on Maeda’s pace in behind and that’s how the opener arrived.

Johnston played a ball over the top from well inside his own half, Tod missed his attempt to boot it clear and Maeda was in like Flint to leave himself one-on-one with the keeper. Not always the calmest of characters in such situations, his chipped finish over the advancing Aston Oxborough was sublime.

Where the youngest of the Tod brothers – older sibling Andy was employed further up the field – has to take his share of the blame for the opener, questions had to be asked of Oxborough at the second.

With nine minutes of the opening 45 remaining, McGregor picked up the ball 25 yards or so out and played a square ball to Engels.

The Belgian made clean contact with his effort, but there was something puzzling about the way it whizzed low into the net with the Dunfermline No 1 appearing almost rooted to the spot.

He just didn’t seem set and prepared. It has to go down as another painfully easy concession.

From that point, there was never going to be any realistic way back. Lennon made a triple substitution at half time – introducing Shea Kearney, Chris Kane and Zak Rudden for Tod, Tashan Oakley-Boothe and Morrison – and there was a very definite rally that saw Charlie Gilmour head wide from a corner before Alfons Amade, on for Nurudeen Abdullai, sent an effort from distance just off target after the hour.

Kelechi Iheanacho replaced James Forrest for Celtic and had the ball in the net on 66 minutes, but linesman Frank Connor was correct in identifying that Yang Hyun-jun had strayed offside before setting him up.

Undeterred, the Nigerian made it 3-0 17 minutes from time, moving onto a ball from Benjamin Nygren inside the area and showing great footwork to jink past Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen before evading Oxborough and converting.

Fair play to the Pars for not allowing it to become a procession after that, though. With 10 minutes to play, Cooper, only just on the park, moved onto a deflected Gilmour effort in an unmarked position and stroked the ball home at the near post.

Of course, no one was going to take the spotlight away from O’Neill and this most unlikely double. Football moves quickly, though. And from this morning, the need for Celtic to spell out what now follows becomes imperative.

Livvy Dunne’s Candid Reaction to Paul Skenes’ Error Caught on Video

0

Even celebrities have their relatable moments, and Olivia “Livvy” Dunne recently reminded baseball fans of this fact.

The former LSU gymnastics standout was spotted supporting her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, during his start for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on Saturday.

Dunne was fully engaged in the action as cameras captured her cheering, snapping photos and videos of Skenes, and even letting slip some colorful language.

When a Blue Jays player hit a ball that brought the crowd to their feet, Dunne was visibly frustrated, mouthing “f–k” twice before leaning back in her seat.

The commentators were quick to catch the moment.

“Paul Skenes is on the mound today and his girlfriend — the equally famous, maybe more famous — Livvy Dunne is here,” the SportsNet TV commentator said. “She was a gymnast at LSU. They met in college and she has eight zillion on social media right now. I believe she attends almost every single game of his and she is invested.

“She is not just sitting around and looking around. She is into the game. Emotional and occasionally profane. But she is invested in the successes and rare failures of her Cy Young award winning boyfriend Paul Skenes.”

The reaction came from early on in Skenes’ start in the Pirates’ eventual 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

To open the game, Skenes gave up a leadoff home run to George Springer, who ripped the ball 396 feet to left field for an early Toronto lead.

Dunne certainly wasn’t a fan of the moment.

Nor likely as more trouble came in the sixth inning when the Blue Jays found an offensive spark and scored three runs to earn a 4-1 lead.

After five-plus innings, the two-time All-Star and the 2024 Rookie of the Year allowed nine hits for four runs (all earned). He also logged two strikeouts and one walk.

It was Skenes’ lowest strikeout tally since recording just one in Pittsburgh’s season opening 11-7 loss to the Mets. Skenes only lasted 2/3 innings as he gave up four hits and five earned runs at Citi Field.

Skenes has returned the support, including when he shared a positive reaction to her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2023.

“I texted him. I was like, ‘Hey, the SI photos are out.’ And he’s like, ‘Where can I see them?’” Dunne told People recently.

“He loved it. Yeah, he loved it. He always does,” she added.

The couple has been together since 2023.

Bettina Anderson, Newlywed to Donald Trump Jr., Unveils Elegant Wedding Rings

Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson have unveiled heartwarming snapshots from their wedding celebration in the Caribbean, marking their new life together.

The newlyweds journeyed to the Bahamas following their Palm Beach nuptials, hosting an intimate gathering under the sun with only their nearest and dearest, including Ivanka Trump.

Initially, rumors suggested the celebration would take place on the opulent private island of Little Pipe Cay, a favorite spot from a previous vacation, especially after their original White House wedding plans were curtailed due to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

However, according to insider information from the Daily Mail, Anderson was also considering Norman’s Cay in the Exumas. Her cherished memories from a past visit with close friend Hope Smith made it a strong candidate for the venue.

In a YouTube video from that trip, Bettina and Hope, a former Playmate of the Year with a keen sense of fashion, can be seen enjoying the pristine white sands and breathtaking mansion views on the private island.

Norman’s Cay, in the isolated Bahamian island chain of Exuma, is an exclusive and lush paradise beloved of 39-year-old Bettina – who previously spent time there with her close pal.

It has a private airstrip with its own customs clearance for the private jet crowd and is described as a ‘members only sanctuary’ for visitors enjoying the villa estates and private yacht facilities.

Personalized butler services are another hallmark, along with the pristine and uncrowded beaches.

The newest member of the Trump clan thought it would be the perfect place for a wedding with seclusion and privacy being the key requirements.

And who would argue?

The only way to get there is by a chartered plane or boat. Once there, accommodation is at least $1,400 a night per person, ensuring maximum discretion.

Although one distinguishing factor may not be to the couple’s taste, especially considering the war on drug cartels being waged by Don Jr’s president father, Donald Trump.

The tiny island once served as the headquarters of drug warlord Pablo Escobar’s Medellin cartel, with his kingpin Carlos Lehder using it as a smuggling base between 1978 and 1982.

However that was of little consequence as 48-year-old Don Jr and his new bride celebrated with his siblings Eric, 42, and Ivanka, 44 – who posted a tantalizing picture of her journey there on her social media.

The couple’s marriage certificate, obtained by the Daily Mail, shows that president Donald Trump’s eldest son and the glamorous socialite officially became husband and wife in a secret ceremony held at the West Palm Beach home of Anderson’s sister, Kristina McPherson, on Thursday.

On Saturday, the new bride took to her Instagram Stories to share a look at their wedding bands along with a gushing message to Don Jr.

She posted a black-and-white shot of their hands, with their understated silver rings on full display.

‘Forever yours, forever mind,’ she wrote with a white heart.

She followed it up with a message that said: ‘The whole point is to marry your best friend.’

The couple’s wedding festivities have been kept pretty under wraps, however, Tiffany Trump may have given fans the first glimpse into the event when she showed off her stunning outfit on Saturday.

The mother-of-one, 32, took to her Instagram Stories to post a photo of herself standing outside in a figure-hugging brown and white patterned gown.

The dress had a low-cut neckline and a thigh-high slit, leaving her long legs and toned physique on full display.

She styled her long blonde tresses in loose, beach-like waves and accessorized with some strappy heels and a tan clutch.

Tiffany posed on a path surrounded by lush greenery in the photo, as she smiled towards the camera.

While it’s not confirmed where Tiffany was headed in the formal look, it’s likely she was attending a festivity related to Don Jr’s nuptials.

On Friday, President Trump confirmed he will not attend the island wedding party over the holiday weekend in a statement in which he referred to the new bride as his son’s ‘soon-to-be-wife.’

It’s unclear if the President was unaware his son had already officially married or if he was playing along to maintain the couple’s privacy. The White House was reached out to for comment.

‘While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr, and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so,’ he wrote.

‘I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time. Congratulations to Don and Bettina!’

The private nuptials come after the couple had initially pushed their wedding date to the fall, fearing a blowout wedding bash during the Iran conflict would hand critics an easy shot at Don Jr’s father.

But with no end to the war in sight, the couple opted not to keep waiting, instead holding a smaller wedding in Palm Beach followed by an island celebration for close family and friends over Memorial Day weekend.

A source previously said at the time: ‘They’re waiting for the right moment because of what’s happening in the world.’

But clearly they believe that’s in the past.

Another insider revealed just before the Caribbean ceremony: ‘Bettina and Don Jr are very anxious to maintain secrecy over this. They had the engagement at Camp David, which was really controlled. And they want to maintain that level of control with the wedding.

‘I think this is something they just want to get through, get it done. So they can get on with their lives, move on to the next chapters for all the things they want to achieve.’

The couple got engaged in December 2025 at the Camp David presidential retreat – exactly a year after the Daily Mail’s explosive photos of them coming out of a Palm Beach restaurant holding hands before they went public.

This was incontrovertible proof of our earlier exclusive revelation that they were indeed a newly-minted item, despite Don Jr still being officially engaged to fiancée Kimberley Guilfoyle.

For months, the now newlyweds had kept their relationship largely under wraps as Don Jr still officially lived in a $17.5 million waterfront mansion with Guilfoyle, the 57-year-old former wife of California governor Gavin Newsom.

However, the Daily Mail spotted him and Anderson in August, 2024, canoodling during an intimate brunch date at The Honor Bar, located in Palm Beach’s swanky Royal Poinciana Plaza.

In what was clearly no business meeting, the society ‘it girl’ was seen reaching over three times to plant a sexy kiss on her new beau’s lips.

‘She seemed totally smitten with Don Jr – and he with her,’ a witness told us at the time.

‘They were definitely on a date. They weren’t exactly making out, but the kisses were romantic and you could tell they were intimate with each other.’

Fast forward four months and our exclusive photos showed Don Jr flaunting his new relationship as the couple walked hand in hand from exclusive downtown Palm Beach eatery Buccan as part of her 38th birthday celebrations.

Unprecedented Surge: Record-Breaking Climbers Conquer Mount Everest Amid Overcrowding Warnings

0

A remarkable 274 adventurers managed to reach the pinnacle of Mount Everest in just one day this week, sparking concerns about the increasing congestion on the iconic mountain. With many willing to invest $15,000 for the chance to ascend the world’s highest summit, there are growing worries about the risks of overcrowding.

This surge in climbers far exceeds the previous record of 223 set in 2019, as confirmed by Rishi Bhandari, the secretary general of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal, during an interview with Reuters on Thursday.

“This marks the greatest number of climbers achieving the summit in a single day to date,” Bhandari stated, noting that the count could potentially rise as some climbers have yet to officially confirm their successful climbs.

This season, Nepal has already granted 494 permits for Everest expeditions, each carrying a price tag of $15,000.

Climbers this year are ascending only from the Nepal side of Everest because China reportedly did not issue permits for expeditions from the Tibetan side.

Mountaineering experts have long criticized Nepal for allowing large numbers of climbers on Everest, warning that overcrowding can create life-threatening bottlenecks high on the mountain in Everest’s deadly “death zone,” where oxygen levels plunge to dangerously low levels.

Nepal has attempted to respond to safety concerns in recent years by tightening rules and increasing fees for climbers, though some expedition leaders have defended the high number of climbers.

“If teams carry enough oxygen it is not a big problem,” expedition organizer Lukas Furtenbach of the Austria-based Furtenbach Adventures told the outlet. “We have mountains in the Alps like the Zugspitze where we have 4,000 persons on top per day. So 274 is actually not a big number, considering this mountain is 10 times bigger.”

Trump Unveils Groundbreaking Iran Peace Deal: A New Era in Middle East Diplomacy

0
US President Donald Trump says a peace agreement with Iran is close to fruition, after a call with Middle Eastern and other regional leaders.

This morning, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce his recent discussions with leaders and representatives from several key nations, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain.

Trump shared that significant progress had been made on a new agreement involving the United States, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the mentioned countries. “The deal is largely negotiated and just needs finalization,” he stated.

He added, “The remaining details are under discussion and will be revealed soon. Among the many components of the agreement, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is included.”

In addition, Trump mentioned a separate conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing the interaction as very positive.

Recently, Trump decided once again to halt the potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East, citing advancements in diplomatic talks.

The US Navy continues to blockade Iranian ports, while Iran maintains it will keep control of the crucial trade channel in the Strait of Hormuz.

In Trump’s post, there was no mention of Iran’s nuclear program and highly enriched uranium, which Iran has sought to discuss later.

The US and Iran were closing in on a deal to end the war, a regional official with direct knowledge of the Pakistan-led mediation efforts said earlier this weekend.

Pakistani army chief Field Marshal General Asim Munir visited Tehran to speak with President Masoud Pezeshkian this weekend.

The anonymous official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss closed-door deliberations, cautioned that “last-minute disputes” could blow up the efforts. This is not the first time in recent weeks that a deal has been described as close.

He said the potential deal would include an official declaration of the war’s end, with two-month negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program. The Strait of Hormuz would be reopened and the US would end its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran, meanwhile, had signalled “narrowing differences” in negotiations with the US after Pakistan’s army chief held more talks in Tehran, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told journalists in India that “there’s been some progress made” and “there may be news later today”.

Both Iran and the US emphasised their key positions and have warned of the risks of resuming attacks and disrupting their ceasefire. Rubio repeated the US stance that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon and must turn over its highly enriched uranium, and the Strait of Hormuz must be open.

Iran state TV earlier quoted Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei as describing the draft as a “framework agreement” and adding: “We want this to include the main issues required for ending the imposed war and other issues of essential importance to us. Then, over a reasonable time span, between 30 to 60 days, details are discussed and ultimately a final agreement is reached.”

“Over the past week, the trend has been toward narrowing differences,” Baghaei told Iran’s official IRNA news agency, adding that nuclear issues are not part of current negotiations.

“Our focus at this stage is on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon,” Baghaei said, adding that lifting sanctions on Tehran “has explicitly been included in the text and remains our fixed position.”

Meet the Cast of ‘True Justice: Eye For An Eye’ – A Guide to the Faces Behind the Legal Drama Sequel

The Justice Warriors are returning with a fresh wave of family drama in tow.

Hallmark Channel’s latest release, True Justice: Eye For An Eye, continues the saga of the True Justice series, following a tight-knit group of friends who are also law students, as they tackle a new case. This time, they revisit their high school days to clear the name of Sharon Warner, the President of Penn Charter’s Parent School Coalition. She stands wrongfully accused of vehicular homicide involving a fellow coalition member.

Back in February 2025, Deadline announced the start of production for two sequels to the 2024 film, True Justice: Family Ties. The third installment in the series is tentatively titled True Justice: Lost Love, as reported by the outlet.

Fans of True Justice: Family Ties will be pleased to see familiar faces reprising their roles in this new installment. True Justice: Eye For An Eye debuts tonight at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel, with streaming available on Hallmark+ the following day. Before diving into this gripping legal drama, refresh your memory on the cast with our comprehensive guide below.

Note: Mild spoilers for True Justice: Eye For An Eye are ahead!

  1. Katherine McNamara in 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Casey Barlowe (Katherine McNamara) is a law student, who with the help of her friends, helped clear her brother Marcus’ (Sam Ashe Arnold) name after he was accused of murder in True Justice: Family Ties. Another case brought to her and the gang by Liam (see below) piques her interest in True Justice: Eye For An Eye. Hallmark Channel describes Casey as “passionate and resourceful.”

As mentioned above, McNamara is reprising her role as Casey from True Justice: Family Ties. She is known for her work on Shadowhunters, Arrow, and Walker: Independence, in addition to films like 2015’s Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and 2018’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

  2. Markian Tarasiuk and Katherine McNamara in 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Markian Tarasiuk plays Eli Flint, a law student and friend of Casey, Sarah, and Liam, who values the way Casey united them to become the Justice Warriors. They were initially adversaries in True Justice: Family Ties, as he believed her brother murdered his girlfriend. The network describes Eli as “bold and decisive.”

Tarasiuk is another returning cast member from True Justice: Family Ties. Other Hallmark movies of his include A Homecoming for the Holidays (2019), Christmas at the Golden Dragon (2022), and Nelly Knows Mysteries: All Manners of Murder (2024).

  3. 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Liam (Alexander Nuñez) is a private investigator and a friend of Casey, Eli, and Sarah, who brings them Sharon Warner’s case. As Hallmark notes, Liam is “cunning and creative.”

Like his other five co-stars, Nuñez is reprising his role from True Justice: Family Ties. He recently appeared in an episode of Fox‘s Memory of A Killer, and has also made cameos on The Bold Type, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Umbrella Academy, and Private Eyes.

  4. Marisa McIntyre in 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Sarah Sharpe (played by Marisa McIntyre) is also a law student and friend of Casey’s since undergrad, who helps the Justice Warriors by testing prints and DNA in her lab. Per Hallmark’s recent post, Sarah is “observant and supportive.”

McIntyre is another True Justice: Family Ties alum. Among her TV credits are Chucky, PAW Patrol, Murdoch Mysteries, and The Last Frontier.

  5. Nikki DeLoach in 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Professor Ambrose (Nikki DeLoach) is a law professor at Pennbrooks, whose students include Casey, Eli, and Marisa (see below). She is a source of sage advice for her students, and is also in a relationship with D.A. Quinn (once again, see below). According to Hallmark’s description of Professor Ambrose, she is “insightful and through.”

Long before her tenure at Hallmark began, DeLoach starred on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club with fellow rising stars like Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and Ryan Gosling. DeLoach appeared in her first Hallmark movie in 2015, and has since become a network name, recently starring in last year’s A Grand Ole Opry Christmas alongside Kristoffer Polaha.

  6. Benjamin Ayres in 'True Justice: Eye For An Eye'

Benjamin Ayres returns to the True Justice film series as District Attorney Quinn. Like Professor Ambrose, Quinn is eager to help her students where he can as they pursue cases. D.A. Quinn is “helpful and determined,” per Hallmark’s description of the character.

Ayres is a Hallmark heartthrob, most recently starring in Hallmark+‘s When Calls the Heart prequel series Hope Valley: 1874, which landed a Season 2 renewal. Outside of Hallmark, he has worked on shows like Smallville, Saving Hope, and Suits.

Rising Stars in the Yankees’ Bullpen: The Secret Weapons Ready to Shine

Friday’s game against Tampa Bay proved to be another frustrating moment for the Yankees as they watched yet another lead slip away. This recurring issue underscores what might be the team’s most pressing concern as the trade deadline looms.

The bullpen, bolstered by three key signings last year, has unfortunately been a weak link this season.

Camilo Doval, for instance, has already matched last season’s home run tally, surrendering four in just 20 innings, compared to his total in 65 1/3 innings last year.

Meanwhile, Jake Bird has faced bouts of inconsistency, but there’s been a glimmer of improvement in his recent form. Over his last 10 outings, he has pitched 7 1/3 solid innings.

David Bednar, however, continues to struggle, grappling with preventing runners from reaching base and subsequently crossing home plate.

Of 200 qualified relievers, only 19 have a higher WHIP than Bednar, who’s pitched into some bad luck, but has also seen his strikeout rate dip from his career-best a year ago.

Last week, pitching coach Matt Blake said Bednar’s fastball command had been off, but he’d been impressed with the right-hander’s splitter and he’d look to use it more.

In Friday’s loss, marred by Tim Hill’s worst outing of the season out of the pen, Bednar did go to his split-fingered fastball with greater frequency and it helped him allow just one baserunner in a scoreless ninth.

They’ll target more prominent names as they get closer to the deadline — and also have some internal candidates.

In addition to Carlos Lagrange — still in the rotation at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre — and perhaps lefty Ryan Weathers if the rotation is healthy when Max Fried returns from a left elbow bone bruise, the Yankees could look at right-hander Eric Reyzelman, who tossed two scoreless innings in his first outing for SWB on Friday.

The 24-year-old was just promoted from Double-A Somerset.

And they signed right-hander Peter Strzelecki to a minor league contract Saturday, as first reported by The Post’s Jon Heyman.

Strzelecki, 31, last pitched in the majors with Cleveland in 2024, but was selected to Milwaukee’s active roster last week and designated for assignment without getting into a game.

He struck out 20 in 19 ¹/₃ innings over 16 appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season and will head to SWB.
