Trump Teases Upcoming Revelations with Hints of New UFO File Releases

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has announced that the Pentagon is set to unveil some “very interesting” UFO files, discovered during his administration. This revelation has sparked both excitement and skepticism as Trump suggests potential new insights into the longstanding mysteries of alien life.

In February, Trump heightened public curiosity about possible extraterrestrial encounters by instructing federal agencies to disclose their records on UFOs and alien life forms. Since then, he has continued to build anticipation, hinting at the forthcoming release of documents previously undisclosed by the U.S. government.

“We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t,” Trump remarked on Wednesday during a White House event honoring NASA astronauts. “I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people,” he added, fueling speculation about what these documents might reveal.

Throughout his presidency, Trump has enjoyed the role of the leader who unveils secrets. Early in his tenure, he authorized the release of files related to the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr. Those releases, however, offered little new information beyond existing public knowledge.

As the president shifts his focus to the skies, he echoes a familiar theme, asserting that the American public deserves “transparency and truth.” His directive from February emphasized openness regarding “alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs).” This move suggests that answers to long-standing questions might finally be forthcoming.

“The first releases will begin very, very soon,” he told supporters in April at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix. “So you can go out and see if that phenomena is correct. You’ll figure it out.”

An expert cautions against raising expectations

Even before Trump’s directive, the Pentagon was years into a process to declassify and release government documents related to UFOs, now often referred to as unexplained anomalous phenomena, or UAP.

Citing concerns over national security, Congress created an office in 2022 to investigate UAP and declassify as much material as possible. The office’s 2024 debut report revealed hundreds of new UAP incidents but found no evidence that the U.S. government had ever confirmed a sighting of alien technology. A second report covering more recent sightings is expected to come soon.

That agency, the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, is now working with the White House to release “never-before-seen UAP information,” according to a Pentagon statement.

The office’s previous director, however, said Trump’s promises were bluster, a “shiny object” to distract Americans from the war with Iran. Sean Kirkpatrick, a physicist and former career intelligence officer who led the office until 2023, said he has seen the government’s records and believes there are no bombshell revelations to be found.

“Readers should not get their hopes up that there’s going to be some document with photos, interviewing the aliens when they came down,” he said. “Because that just doesn’t exist.”

Videos purporting to show alien technology tend to have mundane explanations, he said. Modern infrared cameras used by the U.S. military often capture jet engines and other hot objects in a long thermal bloom, which, Kirkpatrick said, explains viral videos of speedy, pill-shaped objects.

Pentagon not forthcoming on UAP reports, GOP-led panel says

On Capitol Hill, those types of videos have caught the attention of a small group of Trump-aligned Republicans who insist the Pentagon is holding back secrets.

The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets has been conducting its own investigation into reports of mysterious aircraft near U.S. military installations, which the panel says pose a threat to national security and the armed forces.

Last fall, the task force heard testimony from current and former service members who described UAP encounters. In one case, a senior Navy officer said he was off the coast of California in 2023 when he saw a glowing “Tic Tac” shaped object emerge from the ocean and link up with three similar objects. They sped away in an instant, he said.

Trump’s interest in the subject has energized congressional Republicans, including Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, an Air Force veteran who co-chairs the task force. Luna has criticized what she calls “less than adequate” transparency from the Pentagon.

In a March letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Luna demanded dozens of UAP videos identified by whistleblowers and labeled with names such as “Spherical UAP in clouds.” Her deadline for Hegseth came and went, and no videos were produced.

Trump’s entry to the UFO fray drew applause from Luna, who last year told podcaster Joe Rogan that she has seen evidence of “interdimensional beings.” The Pentagon “can’t hide from our docs request anymore!” Luna said on social media after Trump’s directive.

Vance professes to be ‘obsessed’ with UFO files

Trump appears skeptical about the existence of extraterrestrial life. Addressing the Turning Point USA crowd in Phoenix, he said, “I figured this was a good crowd because I know you people, you’re really into that. I don’t know if I am.”

Why he made the revelation at that event, held at a megachurch, is unclear. A day earlier, Trump had spoken in Las Vegas, not far from Area 51, a top-secret Cold War test site that has fueled UFO conspiracy theories.

Vice President JD Vance has described himself as “obsessed” with UFO files. In March, he said he has been trying to find time to investigate Area 51 since he took office.

“I’ve still got three more years as vice president,” Vance told conservative podcaster Benny Johnson. “I will get to the bottom of the UFO files.” Invoking his Christian faith, Vance said he believes sightings reported to be aliens are actually the work of spiritual demons.

Even before Trump tackled the topic, alien buzz was already in the air.

It’s back in Hollywood with an upcoming Steven Spielberg movie, “Disclosure Day.” Former President Barack Obama made a splash in February when he declared on a podcast that aliens are real. He later clarified that he had seen no evidence but that “the odds are good there’s life out there.”

Trump is hardly the first president drawn to UFO mysteries. President Bill Clinton has said he once ordered a review of the Roswell Incident — something had crashed in 1947 at a New Mexico ranch and officials later said the debris was the remnants of a high-altitude weather balloon — around its 50th anniversary in 1997. Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan claimed to have seen UFOs before their time in the White House.

The U.S. government has been investigating UFO reports since the 1940s, in part to determine if they represent advanced technology from competing nations or “evidence of off-world technology,” according to the Defense Department’s 2024 report.

In online communities devoted to UFOs, some see Trump’s promise as a step in the right direction; others believe it will come to nothing. For people who follow the topic closely, promises of big revelations have never lived up to the hype, said Greg Eghigian, a Pennsylvania State University professor who wrote a book on the history of UFO sightings.

“There is almost no satisfaction that is possible for many of the really die-hard folks,” he said. “So in a sense, I think disappointment can almost be guaranteed to be expected no matter what comes out of this.”

Tragic Incident: Husband Allegedly Kills Former Miss Switzerland Finalist

0

To those looking in from the outside, Marc Rieben and Kristina Joksimovic seemed to embody the ideal family life. Their friends often referred to them as the ‘perfect family’ due to their apparent blissful existence.

Kristina, a former Miss Switzerland finalist and a catwalk coach, exuded elegance and poise. Marc, the son of a prominent lawyer, maintained a respectable career, boasted a large home, and was well-regarded as a dedicated father.

Their lives, as depicted on Kristina’s social media, were filled with smiling snapshots alongside their two young daughters. These carefully curated posts, however, concealed a much darker truth beneath the surface.

A mere four weeks before her untimely death, Kristina posted images of a couple’s getaway to social media. The photos captured the snowy landscapes surrounding a luxury hotel perched above Lake Lucerne, painting a picture of serene success.

From an outsider’s perspective, they seemed to have it all: success, stability, and happiness. But then, the unimaginable unfolded, shattering the illusion.

In February 2024, Rieben killed his wife in a violent rage before dismembering her body and putting body parts in a blender – ‘pureeing’ them, as the autopsy described it.

The horrific nature of what happened sent shockwaves far beyond Switzerland.

The couple, who married in 2017, lived in a spacious semi-detached home overlooking the affluent hills of Binningen, near Basel.

To neighbours and acquaintances, Rieben appeared the model husband. He was a devoted father and volunteered with a scout group in his free time.

Former Miss Switzerland Nadine Vinzens, a friend of Kristina, told Nau.ch: ‘She always made a happy impression on me. I would never have thought that her husband would do something like that.’

‘To me, they seemed like the perfect family,’ another one of Kristina’s friends told local outlet Blick at the time.

As Rieben’s trial is set to begin on Monday, prosecutors say the motive behind the killing has come into focus for the first time, Swiss paper Tages-Anzeiger reported.

According to an indictment filed by the Baselland Public Prosecutor’s Office, the violence ensued during an argument over the couple’s separation.

On February 13, the pair are said to have discussed the terms of an impending split over lunch.

Rieben allegedly refused to accept the divorce, wanted full-time custody of the children, and denied financial support to his wife, the paper reported.

What followed was the fatal escalation, far removed from the arguments they were known to have had during their marriage.

During the altercation, prosecutors say Rieben grabbed his wife by the throat and pressed her against the wall.

He then reportedly wrapped a ‘ribbon-like object’ around her neck and strangled her, before mutilating and pureeing her body.

The full details of what happened on that tragic day in February are laid out in harrowing detail in court documents obtained by the Daily Mail.

An autopsy found that Kristina’s body showed signs of blunt force trauma, including cuts to her face and bruising to her leg, foot, shoulder blades and the back of her head. Some of her hair had been torn out.

After her death, Rieben dismembered her body using a jigsaw, a knife and garden shears.

Investigators say he ‘carefully removed’ her womb, the only organ taken from her torso, in what experts described as a ‘deliberate mutilation or ritualised degradation of the body’ that may indicate a mental disorder.

Some body parts were placed into an industrial blender, while others were dissolved in a chemical solution.

Investigators also found that he played YouTube videos on his phone while carrying out the dismemberment.

Inside the basement laundry room of the family home, described as an ‘isolated bunker with thick concrete walls’, investigators later discovered ‘a large number’ of skin flaps, ‘some with attached muscles’, along with pieces of muscle and bone.

The grim discovery of Kristina’s dismembered body was first made not by police, but by her father.

After she failed to collect her daughters from kindergarten, her parents grew concerned.

When her father went to the house, Rieben reportedly claimed he did not know where she was.

For hours, he behaved as though nothing was wrong, cooking dinner and talking with his father-in-law before putting the children to bed.

‘Rieben kept insisting he didn’t know where Kristina was and claimed she would just leave sometimes,’ a friend told the Daily Mail.

While Rieben spoke with Kristina’s mother on the phone, her father searched the house room by room.

In the basement, he noticed a black bin bag with strands of blonde hair protruding.

‘When he opened the black bin bag, he saw her cut off head with the hair still attached,’ the family friend said.

He ran outside screaming, urging a passerby to call the police, before returning to confront his son-in-law.

According to reports, Rieben, who did not expect the body to be found so soon, showed complete indifference and a lack of emotion upon his arrest.

Rieben later admitted to dismembering his wife, citing ‘self defence’ and claiming he dismembered her ‘in a panic’.

Describing what happened before the killing, Rieben said that the couple had a ‘positive’ conversation before Kristina ‘suddenly attacked him with a knife’.

Although Kristina’s family have not made a public statement, local media has reported that her parents both received intensive psychiatric support following the discovery of their daughter’s dead body.

In the wake of the incident, testimonies from friends emerged, detailing a starkly different private reality marked by violence and abuse prior to her killing.

One of Kristina’s closest friends alleged that Rieben was controlling and increasingly withdrawn.

‘She was really in love at the beginning, but I was a bit surprised when she got into a relationship with him as he didn’t suit her at all. He came across as really introverted, very critical and sometimes quite arrogant,’ she told the Daily Mail.

‘He was really derogatory with her, with gestures, words and even his tone… he wanted Kristina to disappear.’

She added that the relationship had deteriorated after the birth of their children.

‘Kristina often told me that their relationship, especially since their children were born, was going badly.

‘He turned in on himself more and didn’t let anyone get close. She tried to talk to him and to save the relationship. They attended couple’s counselling together, where he always left or refused to attend. She didn’t really know what to do as it got worse.

‘She told me that she had to [call the] police once, but wouldn’t tell me details about this, only that he was violent and threatened her that if she called the police, he would turn it around on her and she would see what would happen to her then.’

A long-time friend of Kristina described Rieben as increasingly obsessive, particularly when it came to their children.

‘They were his perfect project and Kristina was in the way,’ she said.

She added that he controlled many aspects of their upbringing, from strict bedtimes to banning screen time and limiting what they could listen to.

He reportedly insisted they avoid ‘feminine clothing’ and placed importance on them growing up multilingual.

‘He hates femininity,’ she added, referring to the removal of Kristina’s womb.

Prosecutors say Rieben had a history of violence, and had in the past choked his wife, which investigators were able to prove based on older photos of the victim.

Other allegations include that he had previously grabbed a former partner by the neck, hit her and pushed her against a wall.

According to the indictment, Rieben committed the murder in a deliberate and intentional manner, with full awareness, and out of ‘a selfish attitude and mindset characterized by a need for control, hurt feelings, revenge, and intense rage’.

The 42-year-old was diagnosed with narcissistic and obsessive compulsive traits by a forensic psychologist, who described him as a ‘highly rational thinker with a pronounced cognitive-technical perspective’.

Investigators said Rieben showed a ‘lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness after killing his wife’ and displayed ‘sadistic-sociopathic traits’.

His risk characteristics were found to include ‘increased rigidity,’ a heightened need for control, egocentricity, anger-driven reactivity, and a tendency toward manipulation.

The psychiatrist disputed the self-defence claim, arguing that victims of sudden, life-threatening attacks usually contact the police right away to report the trauma without hesitation or ‘filtering’ the details.

In addition, the expert said that his behaviour after the incident consisted of a series of ‘prompt, purposeful, and methodically executed actions’, which contradicts Rieben’s claim of ‘panic’.

His actions only make psychological sense if his interest lay in ‘eliminating as many traces as possible, including the body, in order to conceal what actually happened,’ added the expert in comments reported by Tages-Anzeiger.

Rieben’s trial will begin on May 4 at the Basel-Landschaft Criminal Court in Muttenz and is scheduled to last five and a half days. The verdict is expected on May 13.

Iran’s $800 Million Oil Smuggling Operation Unveiled: Tankers Disguised as Iraqi Ships Evade Blockade

0

Under the cover of darkened waters, tankers masquerading as Iraqi ships are clandestinely transporting vast quantities of Iranian crude oil—a move that defies U.S. sanctions and highlights the ongoing geopolitical struggle between Washington and Tehran. This stealthy operation comes as former President Donald Trump intensifies efforts to choke off Iran’s vital oil revenues through a stringent port blockade.

According to maritime intelligence from Windward AI, a network of tankers under U.S. sanctions are manipulating their navigational data. These ships appear to be stationary in Iraqi waters but are, in fact, secretly loading oil from Iranian ports. This deceptive practice aims to bypass the economic restrictions imposed by the U.S.

Windward AI disclosed to Fox News Digital that among these elusive vessels are four very large crude carriers (VLCCs): Alicia (IMO 9281695), RHN (IMO 9208215), Star Forest (9237632), and Aqua (IMO 9248473). These tankers are operating under various flags, some of which are fraudulent, including those from Curacao and Malawi. This subterfuge allows them to continue their operations under the radar.

Each of these mammoth carriers is capable of holding approximately 2 million barrels of oil. Combined, the four VLCCs are transporting around 8 million barrels, with an estimated market value of $800 million, assuming a price of $100 per barrel. This operation not only challenges U.S. sanctions but also underscores the intricate measures employed to sustain Iran’s oil exports.

A cargo ship sailing in the Persian Gulf toward the Strait of Hormuz

This came as Trump said Wednesday he will keep Iran under a naval blockade until it agrees to a deal addressing U.S. concerns about its nuclear program.

The U.S. administration has demanded that Iran dismantle its uranium enrichment program, while Tehran maintains that enrichment is a sovereign right and nonnegotiable, leaving little room for compromise.

Windward AI noted a “cluster” of sanctioned tankers spoofing locations and seen to the West of the Strait of Hormuz.

“A cluster of 10 Iran-trading, U.S.-sanctioned tankers is now spoofing its AIS location to falsely appear at anchorages off Basrah, Iraq, as the blockade continues to constrict Iranian ports,” Windward explained.

“The vessels identified by Windward Multi-Source Intelligence are manipulating their signals to create a digital alibi,” the intelligence firm claimed.

“By broadcasting fake destination messages to Iraqi ports, the tankers appear to be in Iraqi waters while covertly sailing to Iran to load sanctioned oil.

“Once loaded, the vessels re-emerge on AIS to suggest a legitimate Iraqi origin for the cargo.”

The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports began April 13 as part of a broader effort to pressure Iran into renegotiating limits on its nuclear program.

The blockade has unfolded in stages, starting with naval deployments and restricted maritime enforcement to limit Iran’s oil exports and economic activity.

Windward said more than two dozen tankers are confined west of Hormuz as of Wednesday, with the blockade cutting Iranian oil loadings and exports by more than half.

“This deceptive practice is under intensified scrutiny as the vessels are part of a larger group of more than two dozen tankers currently confined west of Hormuz,” the firm said.

“The handysize tanker Paola and Long Range One tanker Adena, both signaling ‘Iraqi owner’ but linked to a sanctioned network.”

The firm claimed three medium-range tankers, including Aqualis, Kush and Charminar, and the LPG carrier Royal H (IMO 9155341), which was newly sanctioned in February, are displaying “erratic voyage trails to suggest a loading at the Iraqi port of Khor Al Zubair.”

“The tell-tale spoofing signs, including erratic patterns and fake port signals, highlight the shifting tactics used by the dark fleet as the blockade more than halves Iranian oil loadings and exports,” the firm said.

Meanwhile. Iran’s Mohammad Ghalibaf slammed U.S. policymakers Wednesday, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, over the impact of the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports.

The parliamentary speaker cited “junk advice” and blamed the Treasury for pushing up oil prices.

“Three days in, no well exploded,” Ghalibaf said in a post shared on X.

Melbourne Restaurant Arson: Suspects Remain Behind Bars After Bail Rejection

Two individuals have been refused bail following charges related to the suspected firebombing incident at a restaurant in Docklands.

Police allege Barry Hsikia, 22, and a 16-year-old boy who can’t be named for legal reasons smashed through glass doors at the Almina restaurant on Docklands Drive at about 3.30am yesterday.

According to allegations, the pair poured an accelerant inside the establishment, ignited it, and subsequently fled the scene.

The restaurant was set on fire yesterday morning.

While the restaurant sustained minimal damage, its glass doors remain covered with boards as a precautionary measure.

The pair allegedly attempted to get into a stolen car but were disturbed by police who were patrolling the area.

The suspects reportedly attempted to escape but were discovered hiding beneath the Bolte Bridge in Ron Barassi Snr Park.

Police arrested the duo along with a third man who was located in a vehicle on Docklands Drive.

It is not known if the fire is linked to several recent attacks on Melbourne hospitality venues.

Inside the car, police seized jerry cans.

A boy, 16, and a 22-year-old man were each charged with criminal damage by fire, reckless conduct endangering life and burglary.

The boy appeared before a children’s court today and was denied bail.

The 22-year-old man, named by the court as Hsikia, appeared before Melbourne Magistrates Court today and was denied bail.

Police allege Hsikia threw three mobile phones into the Yarra River as he attempted to run from police.

When he was eventually arrested, police said he gave a “no comment” interview.

A third man was released on summons.

The scars from the attack are still seen at the restaurant, with glass doors being smashed in.

Police are now investigating whether this attack is linked to a spate of recent firebombings and shootings on Melbourne hospitality venues.

Any motive for the attacks is not known but police believe they are being coordinated by an organised crime syndicate, which is using encrypted apps to recruit people, sometimes children.

Trailblazer Cherie DeVaux Makes History as First Female Trainer of Kentucky Derby Champion

0

Golden Tempo clinched victory at the Kentucky Derby this past Saturday, etching its name into the annals of horse racing history.

In an exhilarating display at the 152nd Kentucky Derby, held in Louisville, Ky., Golden Tempo emerged triumphant. The horse, expertly guided by jockey Jose Ortiz and under the skilled training of Cherie DeVaux, captured the coveted first-place finish.

Cherie DeVaux’s accomplishment marks a significant milestone in the sport. According to the Associated Press, she becomes only the second female trainer to secure a win in any Triple Crown race, following Jena Antonucci’s success with Arcangelo at the 2023 Belmont Stakes. Remarkably, DeVaux achieved this feat at her very first Derby, merely eight years after founding her own stable.

Reflecting on the victory, DeVaux expressed her overwhelming joy with heartfelt simplicity: “I don’t even have any words right now. I just can’t. Just so, so, so happy for Golden Tempo. Jose did a wonderful job, a masterful job of getting him there. He was so far out of it.”

“I don’t even have any words right now,” DeVaux said. “I just can’t. Just so, so, so happy for Golden Tempo. Jose did a wonderful job, a masterful job of getting him there. He was so far out of it.”

During the week, DeVaux shifted from downplaying what it would mean to be the first woman to train a Derby winner to understanding she’s a role model to girls who might want to follow in her footsteps someday, the AP reported.

She’s just the 18th woman to saddle a horse in the Kentucky Derby.

She started as a stable worker for trainer Chuck Simon at Saratoga and was there for six years before becoming an assistant to trainer Chad Brown, according to Keeneland.

The New York-native then got her trainer’s license in 2018 and won her first race March 29, 2019 at Gulfstream Park with Traveling.

Ortiz showed off the riding prowess that has made him so successful at Churchill Downs in recent days to win the Derby for the first time in his 11th try, according to the AP.

Ortiz also rode the winner of the Kentucky Oaks on Friday, Always a Runner.

‘Carpets to go down, little wall lights to add, then the final touches.’

It comes as the star recently discussed her second pregnancy and shared the ‘irritating’ symptoms she’s experiencing in her first vlog since announcing the happy news.

She told viewers: ‘I don’t really know how we got here, but I’m pregnant, legitimately the worst kept secret.

‘But that’s honestly my own fault because towards the end, I got really lazy trying to hide it. We weren’t even trying to hide it.

‘We were at a spa over the weekend and I was openly saying to people that ‘I’m pregnant’, to the staff.’

She added: ‘Having a toddler is savage, if you want to keep a secret don’t tell them. Bambi is telling everyone, she told all the air hostesses on the way home from the Maldives, she’s told all her teachers at nursery.

‘The people who have known through Bambi have been really great to me and just pretended that they didn’t hear.’

Over the last month, followers had spotted the influencer sipping on peppermint tea and even accidentally flashed her ‘bump’ in the reflection of a darkened window during one YouTube vlog.

She said: ‘We still in this current moment, we don’t have anything filmed, I felt like posting a black statement on my Instagram saying ‘Yes, I am pregnant’, we don’t even have anything to post.

‘I haven’t really been documenting anything, it’s been so different this time, it just feels really chilled and I feel really at peace weirdly.’

After struggling with her last pregnancy, the influencer said she was suffering again with similar problems, which also made it ‘hard to hide’.

She explained: ‘One of my symptoms is my skin, my eczema, my skin is so so irritated and flared. It was the same in my last pregnancy, I’m just struggling with little things to hide it.

‘I’m constantly out of breath as you guys have noticed in my videos. I’ve got quite a full-on bump which you guys have seen in my last video in all the reflections.’

She continued: ‘I am pregnant and yeah my body is changing and there are differences visibly emotionally, mentally, physically.

‘It sounds like I’ve got a rotten cold and one of my symptoms has been congestion. I woke up this morning to an empty bed and Tommy wasn’t there and I came into the spare room and said I was snoring so loudly.

‘I’m so lucky to say that I’ve had a really amazing pregnancy, I’m so beyond blessed that I’ve had a very smooth experience.

‘I don’t get sick, I’ve not had symptoms that are debilitating, I can kind of pretty much crack on as usual, which is amazing for me because I’m not one of those women, you amazing women out there that have horrendous morning sickness and still get up and get your things done.’

She added: ‘Best believe if I felt like that, I’d be done for, the whole world would hear about it.’

Man Allegedly Strangles Girlfriend in Front of Her Mother, Police Report

Inset: Jesus Arturo Guerrero-Martinez appears in court (KOLD). Background: The Pima County Adult Detention Center in Tucson, Ariz. (Google Maps).

In Arizona, a man is now in custody following multiple incidents of strangling his girlfriend, including an episode when he was witnessed by others, as reported by authorities in the state.

Jesus Arturo Guerrero-Martinez, aged 30, faces charges involving two counts of domestic violence for aggravated assault, along with charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault using a simulated weapon, as outlined by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Members of the Tucson Police Department apprehended Guerrero-Martinez on April 30, with an initial court appearance occurring later that evening.

The situation unfolded after the accused alleged his girlfriend was attempting to damage his laptop, according to a temporary complaint sourced by Tucson’s CBS affiliate KOLD and NBC affiliate KVOA.

The woman acknowledged having the laptop, as she intended to watch a film, according to police reports. She returned the laptop to the defendant in an effort to prevent any further confrontation, as noted in the complaint.

Still the confrontation came, authorities say.

On the way back to the living room, Guerrero-Martinez allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat and dragged her into the bedroom.

In the bedroom, the defendant threw his girlfriend on the bed, got on top of her, and then used his hands and forearm to strangle her a second time, according to the charging document.

At some point, amid the strangulation, however, the woman was able to call her mother on FaceTime, police said. The woman’s mother later told police she saw Guerrero-Martinez strangling her daughter on the screen, which prompted her to drive over to the apartment.

The alleged victim also told police that the defendant hit her multiple times in the face, according to the interim complaint.

Eventually, after various efforts to extricate herself from the situation, the woman was able to break free and get out of the bedroom, police said. When the woman escaped, Guerrero-Martinez pulled out what she thought was a gun and allegedly threatened her.

As it turned out, the purported firearm was actually just a metal flashlight that simulated a gun, according to the complaint, citing the results of a search warrant executed by law enforcement.

The defendant spoke up once during the investigation to say the incident described by the woman did not, in fact, happen, police claim.

In court on Thursday night, a prosecutor alleged the defendant “has previously tried to kill the victim, has previously threatened to kill the victim, and has previously strangled the victim.”

Guerrero-Martinez, for his part, kept mum while his attorney did the talking, according to footage of the hearing obtained by KOLD.

The defendant is currently detained in the Pima County Adult Detention Center on $150,000 bond, jail records show.

Viral Hits Spark Curiosity Over Their Surprising Similarities

In brief

  • Catchy dance tracks about national teams competing in the upcoming FIFA World Cup have taken off on social media.
  • Each follows a similar formula, sharing near-identical beat, but different languages, team names and players.

From the echoing sound of the vuvuzela during South Africa’s 2010 World Cup to the electrifying chants of Seven Nation Army by Italian fans in 2006, each FIFA World Cup brings its unique unofficial anthem.

This year, however, the buzz is all about infectious fan-created dance tracks for various teams that are taking social media by storm, garnering millions of views.

It all started with France’s Imbattables, meaning “unbeatable,” which paved the way for a flurry of similar tunes dedicated to teams like Portugal, Brazil, Türkiye, Argentina, and Spain, among others.

But there’s an intriguing twist — these tracks are the product of artificial intelligence.

Each song follows a similar template with a consistent beat, while the language, team names, and players are interchanged to suit different national teams.

Aside from Imbattables, which is credited to French AI artist Crystalo, the songs viewed by SBS News did not explicitly state they were AI-generated and were posted by anonymous accounts with small followings.

Listeners appear none the wiser with the songs well-received, aside from occasional comments describing them as “AI slop”.

SBS News spoke with the broadcaster’s foreign language audio teams, some of whom said the songs translated well and could pass as human-made.

But SBS Portuguese noted Portugal Invictos (Portuguese for “undefeated”) featured a Brazilian accent, while SBS Spain said their team’s song referenced injured or lesser-known players whose World Cup participation is uncertain.

‘Telltale markers’

Oliver Bown, a professor at the University of New South Wales School of Art and Design, said it was becoming increasingly difficult to determine if music was AI-generated or not.

“There are some telltale markers, but of course those markers also can correlate to people’s production techniques anyway,” he told SBS News.

“Most quality AI music production involves some, usually quite complex, process of human intervention … so there’s always a bit of a human hand in anything that people claim is pure AI.”

Bown said AI often fell short when it came to recognising cultural nuances, such as accents, which may not be picked up unless the producer is a native speaker.

“It’s just increasingly common that people will go ahead and put content out that doesn’t have that really basic quality control,” he said.

“That can be just amusing, but it can also be seriously offensive in certain cultural contexts.”

He said the trend also blurred the ethical lines around AI-generated art.

“I think this is such a significant example because there’s this clear response and you get a lot of commentators saying, ‘I hate the idea of AI, but wow, this is a banging tune’,” he said.

“I think we’re going to see this more and more, that the sort of fault lines between loving it and hating it get confused by the fact that sometimes AI is perfectly capable of producing something that’s quite remarkable.”

Brent Keogh, a music and sound design lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney, also analysed the songs and said they appeared to be AI-generated.

“[It seems] like it’s a similar person generating each of those songs for that particular country because they’re all in a very similar style,” he told SBS News.

While he had reservations about AI-generated music, Keogh said AI tools could play a role in “democratising” football songs, particularly if fans were disappointed with official releases.

But he warned there was also a darker side.

“The threat is certainly there in terms of replacing musicians’ jobs or graphic designers’ jobs or voiceover work,” he said.

“The end consequence of that is this dehumanising of the media that we consume, of the work that we do and in the end, I think we are all just going to end up very bored.”

LeBron James Shines as Lakers Dominate Rockets in Thrilling Matchup

0

HOUSTON — Seated at his locker, LeBron James exuded a mix of reflection and humor.

He spoke about embracing the present, remarking that he was “living in the moment a lot more.”

In a light-hearted exchange, he quipped about his son, Bronny, sharing a striking likeness with NFL star Will Anderson Jr., humorously dubbing him “my fourth child.”

At first glance, the scene seemed ordinary.

Yet, it was anything but.

What just happened was monumental.

The 41-year-old James had just led a depleted Lakers team without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves (for all but two games) past the Rockets in their first-round playoff series, winning Game 6 in Houston on Friday, 98-78.

This was no ordinary first-round win for James, who has carried 10 NBA teams to the Finals, winning four championships.

This was one of the most stunning accomplishments of his career.

It’s time to stop questioning whether James is the greatest player of all time.

Six games before the regular season ended, Doncic suffered a hamstring strain and Reaves sustained an oblique strain in the same game April 2, deflating the Lakers like a nail in a tire.

They were counted out in the playoffs.

No one believed James could carry this team past the Rockets, not at this stage of his career.

He’s the first NBA player to play in his 23rd season. He was too old to put a bunch of role players on his back and pull off a miracle. Even in his prime, that would’ve been a huge ask.

The thing is, James is used to being told what he can’t do.

He thrives off proving people wrong. That’s his drug, his fix.

He has been under the brightest of spotlights since he was in middle school. When he entered the NBA as an 18-year-old, he had the highest expectation of any prospect ever. Everyone was waiting for him to fail.

James sprinted past the pressure, shattering every ceiling. He’s the league’s all-time leading scorer, he has the most All-Star selections (22) and has played the most minutes.

But still, no one believed James could do this.

Lead a Lakers team without its top-two scorers, who left behind a 60-point hole? At his age? No chance. No way.

When are we going to stop doubting him?

James responded by averaging 23.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.3 assists over 38.5 minutes per game. Those are stunning numbers for anyone but unheard-of numbers for a 41-year-old playing against younger guys.

He carried the team to a 3-0 series lead.

Then after the Rockets won two straight games, stealing the series momentum, James catapulted the Lakers to a second-round date with the reigning champion Thunder.

Said Austin Reaves: “I just went over to him and was like, ‘You’re insane.’ The stuff that you’re doing is not normal.”

Added Lakers coach JJ Redick: “To me, he’s had the greatest career of any NBA player.”

The oldest NBA player in the league was the best player in the series.

In Game 1, he unraveled the Rockets with his passing, finishing with 19 points and 13 assists. In Game 2, he led all scorers with 28 points. In Game 3, he made a game-tying 3-pointer that forced overtime, and he went on to play 45 minutes. In Game 5, he orchestrated an 11-1 fourth-quarter run, cutting the Lakers’ 13-point deficit to three points and giving them a chance to win.

In Game 6, he was everywhere, doing everything, finishing with game highs in points (28) and assists (eight), as well as grabbing seven rebounds. He had the highest plus-minus (+26) of anyone on the court.

James didn’t just perform. He shined. He stunned.

He made a dejected-and-hapless group of role players believe in themselves. He brought out the best in them. He led them out of the abyss.

He reinvigorated their careers.

Marcus Smart was falling out of the league. Deandre Ayton was considered immature and unreliable. Luke Kennard was pigeonholed. Each of them looked like stars at times this series.

It was because of James.

If James was pouring every ounce of himself onto the court, how could they not? If someone who understood winning on such a deep level believed in his teammates, how could they not believe in themselves?

What James did was extraordinary.

As the Lakers huddled after Game 6, a loud chant broke out.

“Literally every single guy was going, ‘Baahhhh, baahhhhh,’” Redick said.

The team was making goat sounds to honor the greatest player of all time, a convenient acronym that could be celebrated with a bleat.

It’s time to stop playing devil’s advocate. To stop the debate. To stop questioning him.

James is the best ever.

What we just witnessed was nothing short of breathtaking.

Despite huge interest in the film, Don recently claimed the film will be a mere footnote on his 24-year-old daughter’s career.

He told The Times: ‘(It will be) a blip on her career, because she’s going to be a significant actress for many years to come.’

Dakota travelled to South West England for the Glastonbury Festival as she continues to enjoy time off after shooting her latest movie, Black Mass, on location in Boston with Johnny Depp.

Meanwhile Rita, who wore a bizarre Friesian cow inspired ensemble at the festival on Saturday, recently confessed to Flare Magazine that she’s an Instagram addict.

‘I’m on it as soon as I wake up. I scroll with one eye open. It’s like a drug,’ Rita admitted.

Speaking about why she likes to photograph details of her day she explained: ‘For me, it’s like, look forward. You don’t have to look side to side.

‘If you start looking from side to side, you get confused.’
