Exciting Changes Ahead: T.W. Josey High School Set to Launch New College and Career Academy

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Board of Education has greenlit the transformation of T.W. Josey High School into a College and Career Academy, a project that includes partial demolition of the existing structures.

During their meeting on Tuesday, RCBOE officials decided to preserve the name T.W. Josey, honoring the institution’s rich legacy.

“As the second public high school for African Americans in Augusta, Georgia, following Laney, it holds significant historical value,” remarked T.C. Edwards of the naming committee. “We felt it was crucial to maintain the name T.W. Josey High School to ensure its historical significance endures at its current site.”

In addition to retaining the name, the new T.W. Josey High School College and Career Academy will continue to use the existing mascot and school colors. Meanwhile, Barton Chapel Elementary and Glenn Hills Elementary will merge to form the newly named “Chapel Hills Elementary.”

This modernized elementary school will be constructed on the grounds where Barton Chapel Elementary currently stands.

Illini’s Green Sees Bright Future for Program: Optimism Fuels Growth and Success

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – The Illinois women’s basketball team concluded its season on Monday with a tough defeat at the hands of second-seeded Vanderbilt. Despite the loss, the Illini wrapped up an impressive season with a 22-12 record, marking consecutive NCAA Tournament victories for the first time since the late ’90s.

While the season’s end was undoubtedly disheartening, head coach Shauna Green urged her team to focus on the broader successes achieved. During her four-year tenure, Illinois has made the NCAA Tournament three times, a testament to the program’s growth, even after bidding farewell to a remarkable senior class in 2025.

Reflecting on the team’s journey, Green expressed her excitement about the future. “I’ve never been more thrilled at this moment to look forward to next year,” Green said, highlighting the youth and experience gained by her squad. “Listening to our team in that locker room, hearing the tears and their conversations, it makes me even more optimistic. They’re ready, committed, and eager to improve.”

The Illini’s lineup for the 2025-26 season was notably youthful, featuring two freshmen, four sophomores, and two juniors as key players. This blend of young talent and developing experience promises a bright future for Illinois women’s basketball.

Illinois’ main rotation in the 2025-26 consisted of two freshmen, four sophomores and two juniors.

The Illini were the youngest team, by average roster age, in the 2026 NCAA women’s basketball tournament.

Open Heaven 25 March 2026 – Take Care Of Your Wife

Open Heaven 25 March 2026 Wednesday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Take Care Of Your Wife

Open Heaven 25 March 2026 TOPIC – Take Care Of Your Wife

MEMORISE: Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. – Colossians 3:19 (KJV)

READ: Ephesians 5:25-29 (KJV)

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Samuel 13-14

Open Heaven 25 March 2026 MESSAGE

One of the most important tasks for a husband is to take care of his wife because God has given her to him to nurture and protect her. Today’s Bible reading encourages husbands to love their wives just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. One of the ways a husband can show his wife that he loves her is by showering her with his attention and affection. If a husband loves his wife, he will not starve her sexually or neglect her needs.

In today’s memory verse, the Bible urges husbands to love their wives and not be bitter against them. This means that some situations will arise that will tempt husbands to become bitter against their wives. However, they must not fall for such temptations.

After some men have gotten married, they stop being intentional about their relationships with their wives. One of the ways a husband can take care of his wife is to keep the romance alive in their relationship. He should always tell her that he loves her, buy her gifts regularly, shower her with compliments privately and publicly, and thank her for the things she does for him. Isaac carried the same blessing as his father, Abraham, and was also a successful businessman. Yet, in Genesis 26:8, we read about him being romantic with his wife:

…Abimelech, king of the Philistines, looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

It is important for husbands to know that they must treat their wives well. If a husband is not treating his wife well, his prayers can become hindered. (1 Peter 3:7) says, “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” If a husband takes care of his wife and makes her happy, it will also do him good. When a wife is happy with her husband, she will support him, and this can push him to achieve his goals faster. However, when the one who should be supporting her husband is not happy with him because he is neglecting or hurting her, his prayers will be hindered. A wise husband takes good care of his wife so he can obtain favour from God and live a blessed and peaceful life.

Pentagon Mobilizes 2,000 Troops from 82nd Airborne: Strategic Move in Middle East Tensions

0

The Pentagon is gearing up to send approximately 2,000 troops from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, enhancing the U.S. military’s presence in the region. This move aims to provide President Trump with more strategic options, according to a source who shared these insights with The Hill under the condition of anonymity, due to the sensitive nature of internal military discussions.

The specifics of the deployment remain fluid, with the source noting that the number of troops could shift, as the decision was made only in the last 24 hours. It appears unlikely that the entire brigade will be dispatched to the U.S. Central Command (Centcom) area, the source added.

Inquiries about the deployment were directed to the White House by both the Army and the Pentagon, declining to offer further details themselves.

This troop movement aligns with the arrival of thousands of Marines already stationed in the Centcom region, where roughly 50,000 U.S. service members are currently positioned. Their mission is to support Operation Epic Fury, now in its fourth week.

Renowned for their rapid response capabilities, the 82nd Airborne Division can mobilize within 18 hours of receiving orders. They are trained to conduct forcible entry parachute assaults and secure critical objectives to facilitate subsequent military operations, all in the interest of U.S. national objectives.

The 82nd Airborne Division is based at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The New York Times first reported on the Pentagon considering deployment of a combat brigade from the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

For now, the U.S. military has relied on bombers, fighter planes, drones and missiles to hit more than 9,000 targets inside Iran, which included ballistic missile sites, drone manufacturing sites, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps headquarters and other outposts, according to Centcom. The military has also gone after Iran’s navy, damaging or destroying more than 140 Iranian vessels.

Since the start of the war with Iran, 290 U.S. service members have been wounded, a Centcom spokesperson, Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins, said in a statement to The Hill on Tuesday.

The vast majority of the injuries were “minor” and over 255 troops have already returned to duty, Hawkins said.

DCLM Daily Manna 8 March 2026 — Averting Divine Retribution

DCLM Daily Manna 8 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Averting Divine Retribution

TOPIC: Averting Divine Retribution (DCLM Daily Manna 8 March 2026)

KEY VERSE: Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger. – Zephaniah 2:3

TEXT: Zephaniah 2:1-6 (KJV)

1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord come upon you, before the day of the Lord’s anger come upon you.

3 Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.

4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the Lord is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Retribution is nature’s law. Emperor Babur (1483-1530), founder of the Mugbal dynasty of northern India, remarked that “if you have done ill, keep not an easy mind, for retribution is nature’s law”. This quote is a powerful reminder that doing harm will eventually result in a consequence, a form of natural justice or retribution.

In the passage today, we have a clear reflection of God’s righteous ways. He calls His people to gather to repent of apostasy before judgment. He also warns the enemy of His people of imminent retribution. The patriarch Abraham painted this perspective of God’s righteousness while pleading for Sodom and Gomorrah because of Lot, his nephew. He referred to God as the righteous Judge of the earth, who will not punish the righteous with the wicked. Speaking through Prophet Zephaniah, He warned Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ekron, principal cities of the Philistines, of His impending judgment coming upon them for their protracted disobedience. Canaan and the surrounding suburbs around the sea coast were equally not spared in this very direct prophecy of God’s judgement.

Generally, God warns men through various means before descending on them. He employs prophets, teachers, evangelists, and other tools to warn people of impending doom for contravening His laws. He forgives those who heed the warnings and turn from their wicked ways but punishes those who rebel and continue in their sins, because they heard but refused to turn unto Him.

God is no respecter of persons or nations. All who breach His covenant must repent without delay to avert His judgment. Every individual must turn to God from idols and evil, live righteously ,resist oppressing the poor, and do justly. The righteous must not fail to cry aloud, warn sinners and backsliders to depart from sin and admonish the people of God to continue in godliness.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Upcoming Sewer Service Updates Set to Impact Whitemarsh Island Residents

On Whitemarsh Island, Georgia, a significant conversation took place this week as Chatham County officials finally convened with local residents to explore the possibility of installing a new sewer system. This discussion comes after years of deliberation and was held on Tuesday, aiming to address both persistent wastewater issues and the flooding that plagues the area.

The proposed sewer system would impact 910 properties situated north of Highway 80 and the Islands Expressway. County leaders emphasize that this initiative is crucial in tackling the growing challenges posed by wastewater management and the frequent flooding that residents face.

“The properties are located on marshland, and with the groundwater table rising, climate change is adversely affecting the performance of septic systems, some of which are now failing,” explained Nick Milionis, a Senior Engineer from Chatham County.

To ensure community involvement, a meeting was held on Tuesday night where county officials presented the project and fielded questions from the residents. Surveys were distributed to gauge public opinion on the proposed development.

The future of the sanitary sewer project hinges on community approval, as it will only proceed if the majority of residents are in favor. To date, the county has received feedback from approximately 142 out of the 910 surveys distributed to residents.

“Right now, it is literally, are you interested,” Chatham County Resilience Program Administrator Jackie Jackson said. “That what we are need to know tonight, this is step one.”

During Tuesday night’s meeting some residents spoke out in support of the project. They shared their issues with their current septic systems and said they would opt-in to a sewer system.

“I live in one of the houses where every late summer and fall, I have to leave the area and get an Airbnb,” one Whitemarsh resident said. “I can’t do anything, I can’t flush.”

Some residents also expressed support even though they have no current problems with their septic system now. They said they like the option of connect to a sewer service in the future.

If the project is approved, residents would be responsible for connection fees, plumbing upgrades and monthly utility costs.

However, many residents raised concerns about the total price. Officials said it was too early to provide exact costs.

Residents also asked what percentage of support would be needed for the project to move forward. Officials said that percentage has not been determined.

Milionis said they want all surveys by the beginning of April. If this project is approved, it could take one or two years before construction begins.

Rhapsody Of Realities 9 March 2026: The Christian Can’t Be Cursed

Rhapsody Of Realities 9 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): The Christian Can’t Be Cursed

TOPIC: The Christian Can’t Be Cursed (Rhapsody of Realities 9 March 2026)

Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Some people gripe about the circumstances of their lives, thinking the reason things aren’t working out is that they’re perhaps under a curse. But if you’re a Christian, the Word of God is clear: you can’t be cursed. No family curse, ancestral curse, or a curse from the enemy can work against you. Only blessings are permitted to work and prevail in your life.

Ponder again what we read in our opening scripture: you were called to inherit a blessing. Moreover, the Bible says, “…If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…” (2 Corinthians 5:17). You’re a new creature, superior to Satan and all his works. Therefore, it makes no difference that you were threatened by a witch doctor or voodoo priest; there’s no enchantment or divination that can work against you, for the Bible says, “Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel…” (Numbers 23:23).

Understand this: truth unknown is powerless, but truth known puts you over. If you don’t know what God has said about you, you could walk in fear and bondage. But the accurate knowledge of the Word makes you free: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).

You don’t need anyone to “lift” a curse off you. Christ already blessed you, and in Him, you’ve been born anew and into the glorious liberty of the sons of God; you’re free forever! Think about it: if you were cursed, who would enforce it? The devil? You have more power than he and all his demons put together.

How about God? He would never supervise a curse against His own children. The only Christian who can live as though under a curse is the one who ignores or disdains the Word of God. To neglect, reject, or despise the Word is to step out from the covering of divine truth, and that, in itself, becomes a curse for, the Bible says, “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed…” (Proverbs 13:13).

But as long as you’re in Christ, yielded to His Word and guided by the Spirit, you’re untouchable and walk in blessings only. You live in victory and walk in the boldness of your inheritance in Christ, blessed and empowered to reign. Glory to God!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the life of blessing you’ve given me in Christ. I live far above the influence of darkness, walking in the liberty of your Word. I walk in victory and in the dominion of my righteousness in Christ, blessed and empowered to reign, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

Numbers 23:19-23 (KJV) God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? [20] Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it. [21] He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. [22] God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. [23] Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

Ephesians 1:3 (KJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

Galatians 3:13-14 (KJV) Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: [14] That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the power to tread over all the abilities of the enemy. Satan and his demons have no right to run things in my life because I have been vested with all power and authority in heaven and on earth to subdue, dominate, and take charge of my world.

Tragic Blaze: Man Threatens Residents Before Fatal Fire Claims Heroic Firefighter’s Life

0

Inset, left to right: Sheaves Slate (CPD) and Michael Altman (CFD). Background: The area in Chicago where Slate allegedly started the fire that killed Altman (WLS).

An unsettling incident has surfaced in Illinois, where a 27-year-old man stands accused of the tragic death of a veteran firefighter from Chicago. The individual, identified as Sheaves Slate, allegedly set a mattress ablaze in the basement boiler room of an apartment building he once called home, subsequently obstructing access to the fire and leaving without alerting any of the occupants inside.

Slate now faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated arson, and residential arson, all linked to the fire that claimed the life of firefighter Michael Altman. This incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the motivations behind such a devastating act.

The blaze, as reported by local Fox affiliate WFLD, occurred mere hours following a heated altercation between Slate and some of the building’s residents. During this confrontation, Slate allegedly issued ominous threats, declaring that the residents would “pay.” This chilling exchange adds a troubling layer to the narrative, suggesting premeditation.

Court documents reveal that Slate had previously resided in the building but vacated the premises approximately nine months prior to the incident. Despite his official departure, Slate was reportedly a frequent presence at the building, gaining unauthorized access through a broken window to squat in the basement near the boiler room, according to local ABC affiliate WLS.

In the days leading up to the fire, several tenants reported Slate’s unauthorized presence in restricted areas, despite repeated instructions to vacate the premises. These sightings underscore the tension and unease among residents, culminating in a tragedy that has left a community mourning the loss of a dedicated firefighter.

On March 15, Slate allegedly demanded to see a former roommate, but became angry when he was not allowed into the building. During the confrontation, Slate allegedly said the tenants “are going to pay” for crossing him.

One tenant even called 911 during the disturbance but quickly canceled any law enforcement response after believing Slate had left, local PBS affiliate WTTW reported. Surveillance footage and witness accounts indicate he remained in the building overnight, at one point sleeping in a hallway.

At about 4 a.m. on March 16, several hours after the canceled 911 call, another resident reportedly spotted Slate in the building and ordered him to leave. The defendant left, but soon reentered through the broken basement window, spending hours inside the boiler room. There, he allegedly used a lighter to set a mattress on fire. When the flames grew, he positioned a door in front of the room — a move investigators say concealed the fire and delayed discovery — before leaving without calling for help.

Smoke began spreading through the building shortly before 11:30 a.m., prompting multiple 911 calls.

Responding crews included Altman, a 32-year-old Chicago Fire Department firefighter assigned to Truck 47. Prosecutors say firefighters in the basement moved the door blocking the room, triggering a collapse of the first-floor structure above them.

Altman, who was operating on the first floor, fell into the basement and was engulfed in flames. He suffered burns to 90% of his body and died the following day.

After leaving the scene, Slate allegedly took public transit to the Harold Washington Library, where he changed clothes and dyed his hair. He later checked himself into a hospital for suicidal thoughts, where he was taken into custody.

Prosecutors say Slate ultimately admitted to starting the fire, telling investigators he acted while depressed and suicidal.

A judge described Slate as a threat to the community, citing allegations he has a “penchant for setting fires” while also noting his prior legal issues and an outstanding warrant at the time of the blaze, WLS reported. The judge ultimately ordered Slate to be held in custody without bond.

“We are all grieving the tragic loss of Michael Altman — a young father and dedicated firefighter who followed in his family’s footsteps to serve and protect others,” Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke said in a statement. “His death is a profound loss for the Chicago Fire Department, his family and loved ones, and communities across Cook County.”

Altman, a fourth-generation firefighter, is survived by his wife and a young child, with another child on the way. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called him “not just a public servant, but a true hero,” praising his “courage, bravery, and strength” in the line of duty.

Slate is currently due back in court April 8.

2.6 Million Australian Homes to Receive Free Power for Several Hours Daily

0
Victorians will be offered three hours of free electricity during the day from October under a state government plan to reduce household energy bills.

In an effort to ease the financial burden on households, a new initiative promises to cut the average family’s electricity bill by up to $300 annually. This scheme introduces free daytime power usage, available every day of the week, excluding peak hours in the evening and morning.

Solar panel and battery owners are expected to save more than $1000.

Approximately 2.6 million households are expected to benefit from this plan, contingent on opting in through their energy providers, according to the government. This initiative aims to eliminate additional costs for consumers when operating appliances such as washing machines or dishwashers during the day.

Energy retailers will play a crucial role by offering discounted daytime tariffs to participating households. This daily free power initiative is slated to launch on October 1, with specific timings for the free electricity periods to be disclosed in May.

Retailers will be required to offer a discounted tariff to households during the day.

The daily free power scheme will kick in from October 1, with the times of the free electricity to be announced in May.

“It’s another reason why working from home can save you time and money,” Premier Jacinta Allan said.

Energy providers previously called on the state government for more time to prepare for the scheme, which retailers argued could result in higher costs outside of the free period.

The plan has also been criticised for unfairly benefiting households who could afford to install solar panels or batteries.

Australians hoping for power bill relief will be waiting until mid-next year for the government's energy plan to take effect.

Around 850,000 Victorians use solar power for cheap or free power during daytime hours.

From July, energy retailers must make sure customers who have been on the same plan for more than four years are paying a “reasonable price”.

If not, the provider must move them to a cheaper plan.
