Rhapsody Of Realities 13 March 2026: Beware Of Unscriptural Ordinances

Rhapsody Of Realities 13 March 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Beware Of Unscriptural Ordinances

TOPIC: Beware Of Unscriptural Ordinances (Rhapsody of Realities 13 March 2026)

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances (Colossians 2:20).

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

There’re those in the Church today who, prior to being born again, were exposed to occult practices, idol worship, and rituals. Sadly, because some of them haven’t been properly taught the Word of God, such practices from their background have continued to affect their Christian life. Many of them still believe in and use material mediums like oil, handkerchiefs, mantles, charms, “holy water,” and other objects for spiritual power or contact.

In time, some of these people rose to become pastors and leaders of churches and introduced those same practices into the body of Christ. They made God’s people dependent on material things for their faith, saying, “Carry this, drink this, and bathe with this.” But the Bible doesn’t teach this. Christianity is not about objects; it’s a relationship with the living God through Jesus Christ.

The same thing happened with music and worship. Some introduced dances from idol worship into the Church, dances that were once offered to demons. But thank God all that is changing now through the right teaching of God’s Word on true worship. Real spiritual worship is not fleshly excitement and entertainment but a spiritual sacrifice offered through the Spirit.

True worship is not about physical objects or carnal displays; it is the outflow of your heart to God, inspired by the Holy Ghost. You don’t need holy water, oil, or any other physical medium to connect with God. He lives in you by His Spirit.

So, stay in the Word. Your words of faith, the lifting of your hands, your songs of praise from the heart, according to His Word, are what minister to Him. Refuse to be carried away by unscriptural traditions of men that make the Word of God of none effect.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I worship you from my heart, in spirit and in truth. I refuse to be subject to the senses, for my faith is anchored in your Word. Thank you for the privilege of being your dwelling place and for the fellowship of the Holy Spirit who guides me always in truth, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Colossians 2:8 (KJV) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Colossians 2:20-23 (KJV) 20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, 21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Philippians 3:3 (KJV) For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Unveiling Perez Hilton’s Health Scare: The Unexpected Illness Behind His Hospital Visit

0

Perez Hilton has unveiled the health crisis that kept him hospitalized for an extended period of three weeks.

The 47-year-old blogger turned to social media on Monday morning to disclose the details to his followers following several days of hints.

His video on YouTube said his very own ‘stupidity’ led to his illness.

“My own foolishness landed me in the hospital for 21 days… It was simultaneously the worst and best experience of my life,” he shared.

Perez explained that after suffering from the flu for a week, he took his prescribed medication but neglected to consume it with food. “This oversight led to the development of an ulcer, which then perforated, culminating in Sepsis. It’s a condition that can be fatal,” he elaborated.

He recounted enduring severe abdominal pain and eventually losing the ability to walk, necessitating an emergency room visit via ambulance.

Hilton thanked the hospital that took care of him – Southern Hills Hospital – as he added he had ultrasounds before they could figure out the problem. ‘Finally after five days I ended up having laparoscopic surgery,’ he added.

He also said the infection was very serious and he had fluid in his lungs which led to another major procedure. At that point he developed a heart problem.

But the surgery was complicated as he developed another infection in the hospital, which he said was common.

The star also broke down in tears several times as he detailed he had many accidents after he started eating food following weeks on a feeding tube.

And the worst part was a tube that was placed in him to suck up the infection and a Foley catheter. ‘That was intense,’ he added, as he said he lost ‘a lot of weight.’

‘Now that I am home, I am not 100 percent,’ he also shared as he showed a pick line into his arm. ‘It’s like a scary IV with two lines, and one goes to my heart.’

Before his reveal he said: ‘One of the best experiences about this was God presented himself to me… then He did something, something that I can only call miraculous, it was real,’ he said adding he grew up Catholic but was never a believer until now and he is ‘grateful’ for the experience.

This meeting with God has led to him wanting to take his children to church and enroll them in a Catholic school, added Perez.

The star went on to talk about growing up in Cuba and not coming out to his father before his death. He broke down in tears when he talked about how his father was his ‘everything.’

Also in the video Hilton said that he will not be working as hard as he used to and will make sure he sleeps at least eight hours a night. In the past, he relied on ‘four to five hours a night of sleep.’

He also talked at length about the joy of coming home to his children: ‘They were so worried about their dad,’ he added.

WHAT IS SEPSIS?

Sepsis is a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection.

The infection-fighting processes turn on the body, causing the organs to work poorly.

Sepsis may progress to septic shock. This is a dramatic drop in blood pressure that can damage the lungs, kidneys, liver and other organs. When the damage is severe, it can lead to death.

Early treatment of sepsis improves chances for survival.

The star said he was ‘ashamed’ to work so hard to provide for his children but now he will slow down to have dinner with his kids every night.

And he thanked his sister, who flew from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to help take care of him, and his mother.

Hilton also said he watched a lot of TV while in the hospital as he mentioned Britney Spears’ arrest, Chuck Norris’ death and the video of Taylor Frankie Paul which he found ‘disturbing.’

He ended with, ‘I am back and I send you all love.’

Last week the star, who is known for launching his celebrity gossip blog in 2004,appeared frail as he revealed to fans that he was recently hospitalized for a mysterious health crisis.

The photos show Hilton with scars on his stomach, a plastic tube in his nose and an oxygen mask on as he wore a hospital gown.

Catastrophic Error: LaGuardia Plane Collides with Firetruck Following Air Traffic Control Blunder

0

Recently uncovered air traffic recordings have unveiled a tense exchange just moments before an Air Canada aircraft tragically collided with a firetruck at LaGuardia Airport on March 22nd, resulting in the deaths of two pilots.

In the audio, an air traffic controller urgently shouts, “Stop, stop, stop!” as another voice warns of a vehicle dangerously close to the runway.

Following the devastating incident in New York, a controller admits, “I messed up,” according to reports from NBC News, which referenced LiveATC.net.

Flight 8646, arriving just before midnight, was carrying 72 passengers alongside four crew members.

An official statement from Air Canada confirmed that the aircraft was operated by Jazz Aviation LP, an Air Canada Express carrier, and had departed from Montréal.

During landing, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Kathryn Garcia said, the aircraft collided with a rescue-and-firefighting truck that had been cleared to enter the runway in response to a separate incident involving an odor on a United flight.

“Initial numbers indicate that 41 passengers and crew were transported to the hospital,” said Garcia. “At this time, we understand that 32 have been released but there are also serious injuries. Sadly, the two pilots are confirmed deceased.”

Garcia added that the two occupants of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Families were directed to the Air Canada ticket counter to meet those who were on board, said Garcia, which included one unaccompanied minor. At press time, LaGuardia Airport is temporarily closed amid an investigation that, according to Garcia, will also determine who was in the controller tower at the time of the crash.

Air Canada expressed condolences to those impacted by the tragedy.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of two Jazz employees,” Air Canada said in a press release, “and our deepest condolences go out to the entire Jazz community and their families.”

Former Girlfriend and Three Others Arrested in Connection to Alleged Murder-for-Hire Scheme, Police Report

0

What initially seemed like a grim discovery within a Southern California apartment has swiftly evolved into a sprawling investigation stretching across the nation. Murrieta police describe it as an “unusual” situation for their typically quiet community, alleging a murder-for-hire conspiracy involving a victim’s former girlfriend and three other individuals.

On the morning of January 13, 2026, just after 9 a.m., officers from the Murrieta Police Department responded to a call at The Arbors at California Oaks apartments. Inside one of the units, they encountered a tragic scene: a man was found deceased, prompting investigators to immediately suspect foul play and label the case as a homicide.

The victim was later identified as Aaron “AJ” Parr, a 30-year-old man cherished by his family as a son, brother, and father. His untimely death has left his loved ones in profound shock and mourning.

In a development that occurred a little more than two weeks after the initial discovery, police apprehended Ignacia Perkins, the victim’s ex-girlfriend, and James Petri, whom authorities described as an acquaintance of Perkins.

However, the investigation’s scope quickly expanded beyond the borders of California, turning into a case with national implications.

As detectives dug through physical and digital evidence, they began working with law enforcement agencies across the country, ultimately identifying two more suspects believed to be involved.

On March 18, authorities arrested Jerry Wheeler, 34, in Brookhaven, Georgia, and Kenneth Maxwell, 39, in Midfield, Alabama. Both men are now awaiting extradition to California.

Police say the case centers on an alleged murder carried out for financial gain, along with a broader conspiracy to make it happen.

Wheeler and Maxwell each face charges including murder, conspiracy to commit murder and a special circumstance allegation that the killing was done for financial gain, police said.

The arrests were carried out with help from multiple agencies, including Brookhaven Police and North Metro SWAT in Georgia, as well as FBI teams in Alabama.

Murrieta is generally considered a relatively safe city, with a crime rate about 2.2 times lower than the national average, according to City-Data.

For Parr’s family, the arrests have brought a complicated mix of grief and relief.

“The world kept moving, but ours stopped the day we lost you,” a woman identifying herself as Parr’s sister wrote in a social media post weeks after his death. “Not a moment goes by that you aren’t on our minds… in our tears, and in our prayers.”

She said the arrests have offered “a small sense of relief” as the case moves forward, though the pain remains.

“There is no celebration in it, because nothing will ever bring you back,” she wrote.

A fundraiser created for the family describes Parr as a beloved son and brother, and says his parents are “salt-of-the-earth people” who have spent their lives serving others. The funds are intended to help cover funeral costs and other unexpected expenses following his death.

Authorities say the latest arrests mark a major turning point in the case, effectively wrapping up the active phase of the investigation as detectives shift focus toward preparing for a potential trial.

Investigators have not released details about how the alleged plot unfolded or the specific roles each suspect may have played, citing the ongoing nature of the case.

Golders Green Ambulance Firebombing: Iran-Backed Sleeper Cell Claims Responsibility as Counter-Terror Police Pursue Three Suspects

0

Allegations have surfaced that an Iranian-backed sleeper cell is behind the firebombing of an ambulance in Golders Green, which occurred last night. The group, known as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia—translating to the ‘Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right’—released unverified footage purportedly showing the burning ambulances. Their logo prominently features in the video, which was circulated hours after the incident.

The attack, which many are condemning as anti-Semitic, unfolded in the quiet of night outside a synagogue in north London. CCTV captured three individuals, their faces obscured by hoods, approaching a parked ambulance with petrol cans. Moments later, the vehicle was set ablaze.

The suspects swiftly fled the scene as the fire spread to four Jewish community ambulances. The blaze triggered a series of loud explosions, presumably from oxygen cylinders, which shattered nearby windows around 1:45 am on Monday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

CCTV footage shows three hooded suspects approaching a parked Hatzola with patrol cans before it ignites into flames.

They then flee the area as the four Jewish community ambulances were engulfed by fire, with several loud bangs heard as oxygen cannisters exploded, shattering nearby windows at 1.45am on Monday. There were no injuries.

The last post Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, which can also be called Ashab al-Yamin, shared on Telegram before seemingly attacking the ambulances said: ‘In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

‘This is the Final Warning To all the peoples of the world, especially in the European Union.

‘Immediately distance yourselves from all American and Zionist interests, facilities, and what is affiliated with them.’

Israeli embassy sources told The Telegraph today that the attack has ‘all the hallmarks’ of an Iranian-backed attack.

The style of the attack appears to follow the same pattern as the terrorist linked group’s other alleged targetings: taking place in a Jewish community, property focused, overnight and then shared online with their insignia.

The Telegraph reported that the group also follows previous examples of Iranian backed terror groups, a technique implemented by Tehran to pursue overseas activities which does not imply direct affiliation with the regime.

Ashab al-Yamin’s insignia, bearing a raised arm with a rifle pointing right with a globe slightly faded in the background, is very similar to the IRGC’s, Lebanese Hezbollah and Kata’ib Hezbollah in Iraq.

The right hand is typically associated with divine favour, honour and righteousness in Islamic culture.

Featuring the right hand will lend the group’s imagery to a spiritual mission, rather than an ideological pursuit, according to experts.

Although the group have not established their own Telegram channel – which is usually to be expected when a new terror group has been announced – their posts are being widely shared by channels tied to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Hezbollah.

Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, which is reported to have links to Iran’s network of proxies, has seemingly taken responsibility for other attacks in Europe over the past few weeks.

Three of the community ambulances were left in pieces and burned out after fires triggered explosions inside the vehicles

Three of the community ambulances were left in pieces and burned out after fires triggered explosions inside the vehicles

An explosion in Belgium at Synagogue of Liège is also linked to the group.

This is believed to be the start of the group’s campaign, taking place on March 9, which saw windows shattered across the street.

A second attack in Greece took place two days later at a Jewish site in Athens with footage seemingly showing two people fleeing the scene.

Hours later, a lengthy statement circulated on Telegram channels affiliated with Hezbollah which called on ‘the warriors of Islam, the knights of the shadows’.

The only Jewish school in the Netherlands was the next target, with the synagogue set on fire in Amsterdam on March 13 – four young men were arrested on suspected involvement.

UK authorities are yet to verify the claims by the group that they instigated the fire in London last night. The group is said not to have appeared in any databases three weeks ago, nor did it have a previous footprint online.

However, their Telegram post promised ‘targeting the most prominent Zionist centres in London’ – seemingly threatening more attacks.

Scotland Yard has said today they are hunting for three suspects and it is a ‘priority’ for them to verify if Ashab al-Yamin are involved, amid fears across Europe of Iranian sleeper cells awakened by America and Israel’s attacks on the country.

Counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation, Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said, but the arson is not yet being treated as a terror attack.

He said: ‘We believe we are looking for three suspects at this early stage. CCTV footage appears to show three people in hoods pouring an accelerant on to the vehicles before igniting them and fleeing.

‘While this has not been declared a terrorist incident at this stage, the investigation is now being led by counter terrorism policing with all the specialist expertise they bring, and all lines of enquiry remain open.

‘We are aware of an online claim from a group taking responsibility for this attack. Establishing the authenticity and accuracy of this claim will be a priority for the investigation team but it is not something we can confirm at this point.

‘There have been no arrests at this early stage, and we would urge anyone with information to please contact us as soon as possible – you can do so anonymously if you wish.’

Health Secretary Wes Streeting visited the scene on Monday and called it a ‘despicable act of evil’. He was briefly heckled with cries of ‘shame on Labour’ from the crowd.

He said: ‘The aim of these attackers is clear. They want Jewish people in this country to live smaller lives, to live less Jewish lives, to be less visible as Jewish people, to fear going about Jewish life.

Four vehicles will be in place ‘tomorrow morning at the latest’ to replace those that were destroyed, with work ongoing to get permanent replacements, the Health Secretary said.

Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook said of the potential Iran links: ‘I’m sure the security services will be looking into that, and the Met will be investigating. I’m very reluctant to get ahead of what is still a live investigation’.

Forensic officers are carrying out searches on a residential street near to Highfield Road.

A police cordon preventing people from entering a section of Brookside Road has been put in place this afternoon.

Six fire engines and 40 firefighters rushed to Highfield Road, near the Mchzike Hadath synagogue in Golders Green, at around 1.45am to put out the flames. No one was injured.

The force of the blasts, believed to be gas canisters onboard the Hatzola ambulances, caused windows to break in a nearby block of flats.

The synagogue, which is one of the oldest in Europe, has its roof damaged and stained glass windows smashed in the fire.

Condemning the ‘deeply shocking’ attack, Sir Keir Starmer said: ‘My thoughts are with the Jewish community who are waking up this morning to this horrific news.

‘Antisemitism has no place in our society. Anyone with any information must come forward to the police.’

Gideon Falter, chief executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: ‘We are absolutely heartbroken that this is how low Britain has sunk. This horrific act truly plumbs new depths.’

Tragic Discovery: Teen Found Dead in Orchard After Work as Ex-Boyfriend Linked to Disturbing Evidence

A California jury has delivered a guilty verdict for Vicente Jasso, the former boyfriend of a teenage girl who vanished after her shift at an AutoZone, only to be discovered dead in an orchard days later. Jasso, who was 23 when apprehended for the murder of Melanie Camacho in 2023, was convicted on Wednesday of murder with special circumstances, including kidnapping and robbery. This decision was confirmed by court records accessed by Law&Crime.

Jasso’s conviction, handed down by a Madera County jury, carries the grave consequence of life imprisonment. The case has drawn significant attention, marking a tragic end to the life of a young woman whose disappearance and death shook the community.

In connection with the case, Jose Lopez-Hernandez, a friend of Jasso, was implicated as an accessory after the fact. He received a three-year prison sentence in February 2025 following his guilty plea to the felony charge. Lopez-Hernandez has subsequently been released from custody.

Details surrounding Camacho’s disappearance began unfolding when she was last seen leaving her workplace at an AutoZone on Gateway Drive in Madera. According to a police statement, her departure was at approximately 10:15 p.m. on November 24, 2023. The mystery deepened with her final communication, a text sent to her mother around 11 p.m., indicating plans to meet a friend after work.

Concern grew as Camacho failed to return home, leading her mother to report her missing early the next morning, at about 6:45 a.m. Despite the community’s hopes, the tragic discovery in an orchard a few days later confirmed the worst fears.

Surveillance footage and witness interviews pinpointed Camacho, 19, leaving her job at AutoZone in her 2014 white Nissan Altima, which was spotted on the roadway near her job around 10:30 p.m., just a half hour before her mother received the text from her saying she planned to meet “with a friend.”

“Detectives spoke with the friend [Camacho] told her mom she’d be meeting, who reported they never met after work, but rather Melanie planned to meet with an ‘ex’ to either give or receive something,” the police statement said.

Police reported that Jasso and Camacho dated for a few months but had broken up days before Thanksgiving 2023. Jasso has a criminal background that includes a history of domestic abuse dating back to 2016, Fresno ABC affiliate KFSN reported.

Within two hours of Camacho’s mother reporting her missing, police received a call about a car on fire in the area. It was Camacho’s.

Witnesses told police they saw a blue Ford Mustang with a black hood being driven around the same area where her car was found. Queuing up surveillance footage, police said they were able to determine that the Mustang belonged to Lopez-Hernandez.

Lopez-Hernandez was brought in for questioning that night and police executed a search warrant on his home shortly afterward.

The warrant led them to the orchard where Camacho was found, located near a rural highway.

By then, police said they had made Jasso their primary suspect.

Officers spotted him around 7 a.m. the following day driving around Madera in a minivan. California Highway Patrol attempted to stop him and a chase got underway, with Jasso traveling at speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour, according to The Fresno Bee.

Police said that they saw Jasso tossing some of Camacho’s belongings, including her driver’s license, from his car window during the chase.

Jasso was finally stopped thanks to a spike strip that blew out his tires. He managed to escape on foot briefly and hid in a residential neighborhood but was ultimately captured with the help of a police helicopter.

Police have said that Jasso has a criminal history dating back to 2016, with prior arrests for witness intimidation, domestic violence, evading, and reckless driving. He’s due to be sentenced for Camacho’s murder on April 16.

$18 Billion Military Asset Immobilized Amid Escalating Tensions

The president is momentarily stepping away from the conflict in Iran to pay a visit to a site steeped in rock and roll legacy.

Donald Trump is in Memphis, Tennessee, for an official engagement and has expressed plans to tour Graceland, the iconic residence of Elvis Presley, during his stay.

“I think I’m going to visit Graceland after this, is that correct?” Trump remarked during a session with the Memphis Safe Task Force.

However, Trump isn’t the sole member of the White House exploring the local attractions; Attorney General Pam Bondi and War Secretary Pete Hegseth have also taken the opportunity to enjoy the sights.

Throughout the years, Trump has frequently drawn parallels between himself and Elvis Presley.

In early 2024, Trump on social media posted a composite photograph with half Presley’s face on one side and his own on the other.

“For so many years people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike. Now this pic has been going all over the place,” Trump wrote. “What do you think?”

Five Bed Exercises to Enhance Back Strength More Effectively Than Traditional Physical Therapy for Individuals Over 60

0

A gym membership or a visit to a physiotherapist isn’t necessary. These exercises can be done in just 10 minutes, and they start right in your bed.

If getting up in the morning is taking longer than it used to, or if standing tall requires extra effort, it’s not just about getting older. This could be due to your back muscles gradually losing their strength, a change that often goes unnoticed until it starts interfering with your everyday activities.

As a personal trainer and fitness educator at TRAINFITNESS with four decades of experience, I often encounter individuals over 60 dealing with back weakness. This issue can significantly impact nearly every aspect of daily living. Fortunately, you don’t need a gym or fancy equipment to restore strength to your back. Some of the most efficient exercises are simple enough to perform in bed before you even get up.

The most prevalent problem is a lack of strength in the erector spinae, which are the muscles running along your spine, and the latissimus dorsi, the large muscles located on the sides of your back. When these muscles become weak, everyday tasks become more challenging. Simple actions like getting out of bed take more time, standing upright feels laborious, and activities like lifting groceries or reaching for items on a high shelf become difficult.

Why Back Strength Fades After 60

The most common issue is weakness in the erector spinae, the muscles that run along your spine, and the latissimus dorsi, the large muscles on the sides of your back. When these muscles weaken, everything becomes harder. Getting out of bed takes longer. Standing up straight feels like work. Lifting shopping bags or reaching for something on a high shelf becomes a challenge.

This weakness doesn’t happen overnight. It builds gradually over years of reduced activity. We start sitting more, moving less, and our backs simply stop getting the stimulus they need to stay strong. The muscles atrophy, and the supporting structures around the spine become less stable.

Recovery is slow for older adults because muscle protein synthesis, the process by which your body builds new muscle, slows down with age. Younger people can bounce back from inactivity quickly. For someone over 60, it takes longer and requires more consistency. The body still responds to exercise, but it needs regular stimulus and adequate recovery time between sessions.

Pain also plays a role. Many older adults have experienced back pain at some point and have developed a fear of movement. They start avoiding activities that might aggravate their back, which creates a vicious cycle. Less movement leads to weaker muscles, which leads to more vulnerability and more pain.

Why Bed Exercises Work So Well

Bed-based exercises work because they remove most of the barriers that stop older adults from exercising consistently. There’s no need to get dressed, drive to a gym, or worry about people watching. You can do them immediately when you wake up, which means you’re more likely to actually do them.

The surface of a bed provides just enough instability to engage your core and stabiliser muscles without being dangerous. You’re not on a hard floor where discomfort might stop you mid-exercise, but you’re also not on something so soft that the exercises become ineffective. This balance makes bed exercises accessible for people who find floor work too challenging.

Bed exercises are also low-impact. Traditional back exercises often involve standing or complex movements that require good balance and coordination. If you’re already dealing with back weakness, these movements can feel risky. Bed exercises start from a supported position, which builds confidence while still providing effective stimulus for the muscles.

The other advantage is progression. You can start with very basic movements and gradually increase difficulty without needing new equipment or changing location. When exercise feels simple and convenient, it’s much more likely to become part of your daily routine.

Prone Shoulder Blade Squeeze

This targets the rhomboids and mid-trapezius muscles between your shoulder blades. These muscles pull your shoulders back and help maintain upright posture. When they’re weak, your shoulders round forward and your upper back curves.

Muscles Trained: Rhomboids, mid-trapezius

How to Do It:

  • Lie face down on your bed with your arms by your sides
  • Squeeze your shoulder blades together as if you’re trying to hold a pencil between them
  • Hold the squeeze for 3 to 5 seconds, then release
  • Keep your arms relaxed throughout; the movement happens in your upper back, not your neck or shoulders

Recommended Sets and Reps: 2 sets of 10 repetitions, resting 30 seconds between sets

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Lifting your head or tensing your neck; your face should stay down throughout
  • Letting the work drift into your neck or shoulders rather than your shoulder blades; if you feel tension in your neck, you’re doing it wrong.

Supine Arm Raises

This works the latissimus dorsi and strengthens the muscles responsible for pulling movements. It also improves shoulder mobility, which often becomes restricted when back muscles are weak.

Muscles Trained: Latissimus dorsi, shoulder stabilisers

How to Do It:

  • Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the bed
  • Start with your arms by your sides
  • Slowly raise both arms overhead, keeping them as straight as comfortable, until they’re resting on the bed above your head
  • Pause for a second, then bring them back down to your sides
  • Keep the movement controlled and smooth throughout

Recommended Sets and Reps: 2 sets of 12 repetitions, resting 30 seconds between sets

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Arching your lower back as your arms go overhead; your lower back should stay in contact with the bed throughout
  • If your lower back lifts, your core isn’t properly engaged and you’re compensating with your back instead of using your shoulder and upper back muscles.

Prone Back Extension (Superman Hold)

This directly targets the erector spinae muscles that run along your spine. These muscles are responsible for keeping you upright and preventing your spine from rounding forward. Weakness here is one of the main reasons people struggle to stand up straight.

Muscles Trained: Erector spinae, lower back

How to Do It:

  • Lie face down with your arms extended above your head
  • Lift your chest and arms slightly off the bed while keeping your legs down
  • You’re not trying to lift high, just enough to feel your lower back muscles working
  • Hold for 5 to 10 seconds, then lower back down

Recommended Sets and Reps: Start with 2 sets of 6 repetitions, holding each for 5 seconds; as you get stronger, increase the hold time to 10 seconds

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Lifting too high and hyperextending the lower back; this exercise isn’t about how far you can lift
  • A small lift where you feel your back muscles working is far more effective than straining to go higher.

Bridge Hold

While primarily known as a glute exercise, the bridge also works the erector spinae and helps coordinate the muscles along the back of your body. When your glutes and back work together properly, it takes pressure off your lower back during everyday movements.

Muscles Trained: Erector spinae, glutes, core

How to Do It:

  • Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the bed, hip-width apart
  • Push through your heels and lift your hips until your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees
  • Squeeze your glutes and keep your core tight
  • Hold for 10 to 15 seconds, then lower back down

Recommended Sets and Reps: 2 sets of 8 repetitions, holding each for 10 to 15 seconds, resting 30 seconds between sets

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Pushing your hips too high and overarching your lower back; you want a straight line from shoulders to knees, not a curve
  • If your lower back feels pinched or uncomfortable, you’ve gone too high; lower slightly until you feel your glutes and back working without strain.

Cat-Cow Stretch (Modified Bed Version)

This isn’t purely a strengthening exercise, but it’s important for back health. It mobilises the spine, stretches tight muscles, and helps coordinate movement through your entire back. Many older adults have stiff spines that limit their ability to perform daily activities comfortably.

Muscles Trained: Full spinal stabilisers, erector spinae, core

How to Do It:

  • Get on your hands and knees on the bed; the cushioning makes this easier on your knees than doing it on the floor
  • Start in a neutral position with your back flat
  • Slowly arch your back, dropping your belly toward the bed and lifting your head and tailbone; this is cow. Hold for 2 seconds
  • Then round your back, tucking your chin to your chest and pulling your belly button toward your spine; this is cat. Hold for 2 seconds
  • Move slowly and smoothly between positions

Recommended Sets and Reps: 2 sets of 10 repetitions

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Rushing through the movement; this isn’t about speed, it’s about controlled, deliberate movement through your entire spine
  • Each position should take 2 to 3 seconds, with a smooth transition between them; if you’re moving quickly, you’re not getting the benefit.

How to Fit This Into Your Day

The best time to do these exercises is first thing in the morning, before you get out of bed. This removes any excuse about not having time or forgetting. The entire routine takes less than 10 minutes. Do it every other day to start, giving your muscles time to recover between sessions. As you get stronger, you can do it daily if you want.

Start with just one set of each exercise for the first week. This lets your body adapt without overwhelming it. In week two, add the second set. By week three, you should be doing the full routine comfortably.

Stop immediately if you feel sharp, shooting pain. Muscle fatigue is normal and expected. A burning sensation in the working muscles is fine. But pain that feels like something is wrong, sharp, stabbing, or radiating down your legs, is a sign to stop.

Check with a doctor before starting if you have any of the following: diagnosed osteoporosis, recent back surgery or injury, herniated discs, severe arthritis, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or any condition where lying flat or bending causes significant pain.

Other warning signs to watch for include dizziness during the exercises, numbness or tingling in your legs, or pain that gets worse rather than better over several days.

What to Expect After 4 to 6 Weeks

After two weeks, you’ll find it easier to perform daily activities such as getting out of bed or standing from a seated position. You might not notice any real visual changes yet, but you’ll be functioning better.

After four weeks, you’ll notice you’re standing more upright with less strain on your back during activities that previously caused discomfort. You’ll also feel more confident in the way you move because your back is feeling more stable.

After six weeks, you should notice genuine strength gains. Carrying groceries or doing gardening shouldn’t feel as stressful, and you’ll find it easier to maintain good posture throughout the day.

The Four Things That Actually Drive Results

How well you adhere to the programme is the key factor. Exercising three times a week and then stopping for two weeks won’t bring the results you want. Your muscles need to be continually stimulated to get stronger. Even every other day, done consistently, beats sporadic bursts followed by long gaps.

Progression is the second element. If the exercises become easy, make them a little more challenging. Add another set, increase the hold time, or slow the movement down to increase the time your muscles are working. Your muscles adapt to what you challenge them with; if you keep doing the same exercises at the same intensity without any change, you won’t continue to progress.

Recovery is the third element. Sleep, nutrition, and stress all impact how quickly your muscles rebuild. If you’re not getting enough sleep or eating enough protein, recovery slows down. The daily protein requirement for older adults is 1.2 to 1.6 grams per kilogram of body weight to maintain and build muscle mass.

Finally, be patient. Muscle function won’t improve overnight, especially after 60. With consistent effort you’ll notice improvements after six weeks, but it takes months to make real changes. The people who succeed are the ones who understand this is a long-term process, not a quick fix.

Iran Refutes Trump’s Negotiation Claims Amid US Strike Delays on Power Plants

0

In brief

  • US President Donald Trump says he is postponing a planned attack on Iran’s energy grid for five days.
  • Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they were launching new attacks on US targets and called Trump’s words “psychological operations”.

An Iranian representative has dismissed claims by U.S. President Donald Trump that Iran has entered into negotiations with the United States. This comes after Trump delayed a threat to attack Iran’s power infrastructure, citing what he called fruitful discussions with unnamed Iranian officials.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the U.S. and Iran engaged in “very good and productive” talks aimed at achieving a “complete and total resolution of hostilities in the Middle East.”

Consequently, Trump announced a five-day postponement of a planned strike on Iran’s energy grid.

This announcement led to a notable surge in stock prices and a decrease in oil prices, counteracting the market turbulence caused by his earlier threats and Iran’s promises of retaliation.

Trump further informed reporters that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who had been in talks with Iran before the conflict, engaged in discussions with a senior Iranian official late into Sunday evening and planned to continue the dialogue.

“We have had very, very strong talks. We’ll see where they lead. We have major points of agreement, I would say, almost all points of agreement,” he told reporters before departing Florida for Memphis.

In Memphis, he said the US had been negotiating with Iran “for a long time, and this time they mean business”, adding: “I think it could very well end up being a good deal for everybody.”

He did not identify the Iranian official in touch with Witkoff and Kushner, but said: “We’re dealing with the man who I believe is the most respected and the leader.

“We’re dealing with some people that I find to be very reasonable, very solid. The people within know who they are,” he added.

“They’re very respected, and maybe one of them will be exactly what we’re looking for.”

‘No negotiations’, parliament speaker says

Following Trump’s comments, Iran’s powerful parliament speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf said in a post on X that there had been no such talks with the US, and ridiculed the suggestion as an attempt to rig financial markets.

“No negotiations have been held with the US, and fake news is used to manipulate the financial and oil markets and escape the quagmire in which the US and Israel are trapped,” he wrote.

“Iranian people demand complete and remorseful punishment of the aggressors.

“All Iranian officials stand firmly behind their supreme leader and people until this goal is achieved.”

Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards said they were launching fresh attacks on U.S. targets, and described Trump’s words as “psychological operations”.

“The contradictory behaviour of the US president does not cause us any negligence on the war front or the continuation of the battle with the hostile enemy,” the Guards said in a statement.

Although there was no immediate confirmation that talks had already taken place as described by Trump, there were indications of outreach, with third countries acting as potential mediators or helping to set up contacts.

Iran’s foreign ministry described initiatives to reduce tensions, without giving further details.

Pakistan to host talks with Iran, US

A Pakistani official and a second source said talks on ending the war could be held in Pakistan as soon as this week.

The Pakistani official said US vice-president JD Vance, as well as Witkoff and Kushner, were expected to meet Iranian officials in Islamabad.

A second Pakistani official said Islamabad was relaying messages between the United States and Iran.

An Israeli official and two other sources familiar with the matter said the interlocutor on the Iranian side was Ghalibaf, the parliament speaker, who has become increasingly influential.

A European official said there had been no direct negotiations between the US and Iran but Egypt, Pakistan and Gulf states were relaying messages.

Market respite

Trump’s announcement that he was holding off on his plan to hit Iran’s power grid abruptly reversed a plunge in global markets, which had shuddered on Monday in Asia and Europe and had been on course to open sharply lower in the US following the weekend threats.

Iran had responded to Trump’s threats by saying it would hammer the infrastructure of US allies in the Middle East, raising the prospect that an extreme disruption to global energy supplies could last longer than previously expected.

The respite sent the Brent crude oil benchmark tumbling around 8 per cent to about US$103 ($146) a barrel.

Iran has effectively closed the key Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas flows.

Trump has demanded Iran open the strait, but Tehran says it will not do so until the US and Israel call off their attacks.

One of the sources, briefed on Israel’s war plans, said the US had kept Israel informed of its contacts with Iran, and that it was likely to follow Washington in suspending any targeting of Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office did not respond to a request for comment on talks or on the US’ decision to suspend strikes on some targets. More than 2,000 people have been killed in the war since the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on 28 February.

Savannah Guthrie’s Mother Still Missing: Family Releases New Statement as Search Continues into Day 51

0

The family of missing Arizona resident Nancy Guthrie has released a heartfelt plea for assistance as the search for the 84-year-old enters its eighth week.

In a statement shared on Instagram, the Guthrie family urged the community to refocus their efforts on finding their mother, saying, “We desperately ask this community for renewed attention to our mom’s case.”

The family encouraged anyone who might have valuable information to come forward. “Please consult camera footage, journal notes, text messages, observations, or conversations that in retrospect may hold significance. No detail is too small. It may be the key,” they added.

According to CrimeOnline, Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, after family members dropped her off at her home in Catalina Foothills following a dinner together.

Her family became concerned when she did not appear for a scheduled virtual church meeting the next day, prompting them to report her missing.

Meanwhile, authorities have been searching construction sites, dump sites, and a vacant home in the vicinity of Guthrie’s residence.

They’re also searching for vehicles in the neighborhood, including a possible white vehicle in the Via Entrada area, specifically at 10 a.m. January 31, and again at 2:38 a.m. on February 1.

“They’ve got to have a reason that they’re saying 10 a.m. the morning of the kidnap,” Crime Stories host, Nancy Grace, said.

Via Entrada Road is the main residential road through Guthrie’s neighborhood, and the connector to North 1st Avenue and East.

“At 2:38 in the morning, we’ve got a car within two and a half miles of Nancy Guthrie’s home seen on Ring camera,” Crime Stories investigative reporter Dave Mack added.

This is a shocker because when the sheriff’s department first put up their Ring of the area they were confident in, was about two miles. This is at two and a half miles, so they missed it.

“Law enforcement is trying to identify what type of vehicle it is and anything else they can find.”

Photo via FOX News Digital

Authorities are also still trying to determine the identity of a masked man seen Guthrie’s front door on January 11, who appeared casual as he walked up to the home without a backpack or gun.

In another image, an armed man wearing a wearing a holstered pistol and a black Ozark Trail backpack appeared at Guthrie’s front door in the early morning hours February 1. Agents asked neighbors for footage between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on January 31.

“Nothing startles him. If you just look at the fluidity of his movement, there’s no change in the tempo. There’s no change in absolutely anything,” Behavior Expert & Retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke said.

“He seemed very fluid in all his motions and everything he was executing, even when bowing down to get a branch.”

Images of suspect in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance appear to come from two separate visits to her home/FBI

Over $1 million is being offered in the case.

  • $102,500: 88-CRIME
  • $100,000: 1-800-CALL-FBI
  • $1 million from the Guthrie family: 1-800-CALL-FBI (tips can be anonymous)

Tipsters can also contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department tip line at 520-351-4900.

Homeowners in the area are encouraged to submit relevant security footage through the PCSD Evidence Submission Portal.
