Victor Eklund Eyes Major Growth with Islanders Roster Opportunity

0

The New York Islanders are taking a cautious approach with their prospects. Despite a lackluster offseason, the team is gearing up for training camp next month with a competitive depth chart that rising star Victor Eklund will need to navigate and prove himself.

While retaining veterans like Ondrej Palat, Anthony Duclair, and Pierre Engvall might not have been primarily about fostering young talent, it incidentally benefits Eklund’s maturation by placing him amidst seasoned competitors.

The crowded roster on the wings guarantees a challenging environment in which Eklund must earn his place instead of landing it by default. Even if he doesn’t make the starting lineup for the season opener in Toronto on September 29, the natural ebb and flow of the season suggests he will get his opportunity sooner rather than later.

This situation is vastly different from the dramatic entrance of Matthew Schaefer into the NHL. At just 19, Eklund, who spent the majority of last season with his hometown Swedish Hockey League team Djurgårdens, is expected to take on a role in training camp akin to Cal Ritchie’s previous year.

Ritchie arrived at camp as a seemingly superfluous 24th player on a roster that ultimately made room for 23. He impressed everyone, leaving little doubt he was NHL-caliber despite a minor injury that temporarily delayed this inevitable decision. After just one game in the AHL, he quickly found his place with the Islanders for the remainder of the season.

Should Eklund follow a similar path, his 2026-27 season would be a rousing success.

“I think the question is not if he’s going to be able to play in the NHL. The question is how much can you get out from him to his maximum, if you know what I mean,” Michael Holmqvist, a Djurgårdens assistant coach and Eklund family friend, told The Post on Sunday, “because I think a lot of players can survive playing and doing the job, getting the pucks out, getting the pucks deep and stuff like that and be an energy guy. But I think there’s a lot more to Vic than just being that.

“So the question for me is, what’s the best thing for him to do right now? Is it to work himself into the NHL right away and trust the process, stuff like that? Or get more time practicing his offensive game. I think that’s the question for the Islanders.”

Eklund, along with Anton Frondell, Viggo Björck and fellow Islanders prospect Calle Odelius, has been practicing with Djurgårdens recently as SHL training camp has picked up. He’s put on a few pounds of muscle, and that will need to continue being a theme as he grows.

Even with a wiry frame, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, he has a terrific reputation for winning puck battles and one-on-ones along the boards. There is some question whether he’ll need more muscle for it to translate to the NHL, but, Holmqvist said, he wondered the same when Eklund went from the Allsvenskan — Sweden’s second division — to the SHL, only for his compete level to keep shining through.

Eventually, that relentlessness could translate into Eklund being an effective net-front player, something the Islanders desperately need with Anders Lee’s exit. There is still, though, a long way to go.

“I talked about that three days ago with him,” Holmqvist said. “Because we talked about it last year to find that spot and that’s probably where he’s going to find most of his goals and points. So he’s aware of it, but he needs someone to be there every day and remind, remind, remind..”

What the finished product looks like is a question that won’t be answered this year. For an Islanders club in transition, that’s perfectly fine. They have the luxury of being able to cater to what’s best for their prospects. As for what that is?

“I think the next couple months will tell,” Holmqvist said.

Kim Kardashian Sparks Romance Buzz with Lewis Hamilton in Heartfelt Photos

0

In a revealing series of photos, Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton are proving their relationship is rock solid. The couple radiated happiness, cozy in their affectionate snapshots.

The notable Formula One driver, 41, and the renowned SKIMS entrepreneur, 45, have been linked romantically since November 2025. Kim even made an appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix in June to cheer on her racing beau.

Taking to Instagram, Kim shared highlights from her week, including a handful of selfies with Lewis, who has taken a break from his intense racing schedule for the summer.

In one of the images, the couple is seen snuggling in coordinated loungewear; another shot captures Kim in a sleek white crop top, flaunting her chic style.

Always one to celebrate her iconic silhouette, Kim didn’t shy away from showcasing her curves in a playful pink and white bikini.

In July, the British star made a rare comment about his ladylove at Silverstone Circuit racing venue during the British Grand Prix.

After a fan observed, ‘You’ve been a happier man recently, why’s that? Could that be a girlfriend?’ Hamilton responded: ‘Yeah, that’s a good one!’

He later added: ‘Of course, of course, it’s Kim.’

Earlier this summer the sports star joined his girlfriend and her huge family on a lake trip.

He appeared in various photos she shared on social media, revealing he has met and spent time with the four kids she shares with ex-husband Kanye West, 49: North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven.

Kardashian and West tied the knot in Italy in 2014, less than one year after North was born.

She filed to divorce the Chicago-born rapper in February 2021 and the split was finalised in November 2022.

Prior to West, she was married twice before – first to music producer Damon Thomas, whom she divorced in 2004 after nearly four years of marriage.

She later wed NBA player Kris Humphries in 2011, with the marriage famously lasting just 72 days. The divorce was finalised in 2013.

Hamilton was first romantically linked to SKIMS founder Kardashian earlier this year, yet the Grand Prix marked their first PDA-filled outing.

The pair enjoyed a trip to Japan together and they are said to have spent a weekend at Estelle Manor in the Cotswolds, England, as well as visiting Paris, France in early February.

They also appeared publicly together during the 2026 Super Bowl in February, when they were shown on the stadium’s big screen during the game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

Hamilton – who has previously been linked romantically with singer Nicole Scherzinger and actress Sofía Vergara – and Kardashian had previously known each other for several years.

A source told Us Weekly: ‘Because their relationship started with a friendship first, those closest to them believe this could be endgame for them both.

‘They are both very committed to making things work no matter how long the distance is or how busy they are.’

Meanwhile, Kardashian – who is mother to North, 13, Saint, ten, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven, with her ex-husband Kanye West – is said to be taking her new relationship seriously.

A source recently told PEOPLE: ‘[Lewis is] just an easy-going guy with great energy. Her family likes him and Kim’s very into him. They are both busy with their careers, but see each other as much as possible.’

They are said to have ‘more than just a casual connection’ with the insider adding: ‘It takes a lot to capture Kim’s interest and she’s definitely intrigued.’

Open Heaven 10 August 2026 TOPIC – Your Legacy Is Not For Sale

MEMORISE: A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. – Proverbs 13:22 (KJV)

READ: 2 Kings 20:12-19 (KJV)

12 At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

13 And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

14 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.

15 And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

16 And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the Lord.

17 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the Lord.

18 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

19 Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 22-24

Open Heaven 10 August 2026 MESSAGE

You should always ask yourself this question, especially as you advance in age: “What will people say about me when I am gone?” The truth is that the way you are living your life now will determine what people will say about you when you are gone. This is why you must strive to create a good legacy and guard it jealously. You must never trade it for anything, no matter how enticing it may appear.

Beloved, your legacy will include the name you will leave behind after you exit the earth. While King Hezekiah was a good king, he left a bad legacy for his descendants. In (2 Kings 20:1-11), the king of Babylon sent emissaries to check on him, and he foolishly showed them all the treasures in his house and kingdom. His actions exposed his kingdom and consequently his descendants to the enemy. When Isaiah told him that the consequence of his foolish actions would be the captivity of his children and that all the treasures of his land would be carted away by the king of Babylon, he replied, “Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days?” Surprisingly, he was okay with the captivity not happening in his time, but in the days of his children. His actions were clearly unwise. Hezekiah sold his legacy just because he wanted to display his wealth. His descendants would always remember him as the one who exposed them to the enemy and made them lose the kingdom. Today’s memory verse tells us that a good man will leave an inheritance for his children’s children. He will not deprive them of their inheritance or give them a bad name that they will be ashamed of. I pray that you will not open the door for the enemy to torment, afflict, or capture your descendants, in Jesus’ name.

Every family that is battling one ancestral problem or another was exposed to it by someone in their lineage; do not be such a person. If you have done things that you are not proud of, and you know that those things can affect your children and their descendants, run to God for mercy today. Ask Him to cleanse you with His blood and rewrite your family’s story. No matter how old you are, as long as you are alive, there is still hope of leaving a good legacy for your descendants.

Bid my anxious fears subside:
Bear me through the swelling torrent,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises! songs of praises!
I will ever give to Thee (2ce)

4 Saviour, come! We long to see Thee,
Long to dwell with Thee above;
And to know in full communion,
All the sweetness of Thy love.
Come, Lord Jesus! Come, Lord Jesus!
Take Thy waiting people home (2ce)

Record-Breaking Heatwaves Scorch Western Europe as Temperatures Soar

BERLIN – In an unprecedented shift, the sizzling heat waves sweeping across Western Europe this summer have shattered the previous average temperature record for June and July set just last year, as reported by the European climate agency, Copernicus.

Kicking off in May, the extreme heat has fueled massive wildfires, extended droughts, and set new national temperature records throughout the region. This alarming trend is also linked to thousands of anticipated heat-related fatalities, highlighting the dire impacts of the rising temperatures.

On a global scale, 2026 is currently marked as the third-warmest year to date, trailing behind 2024 and 2025, according to climate data. Yet, with the year still unfolding, there’s room for change. Experts caution that the combination of rapid human-induced climate change and an intensified El Niño—a cyclical heating of parts of the Pacific Ocean influencing global temperatures—could propel 2026 to emerge as the new hottest year on record. There’s a real possibility it might eclipse the 2024 record, or closely rival it, by year-end, scientists predict.

In a related climate anomaly, last month witnessed the highest mean sea surface temperatures ever recorded for July in the extra-polar oceans—those unencumbered by seasonal sea ice—Copernicus revealed.

This surge in sea temperatures has been partly driven by developing El Niño conditions in the equatorial Pacific. The new average for July is noted at 20.96 degrees Celsius (69.73 degrees Fahrenheit), narrowly surpassing the previous year’s record of 20.89 C (69.60 F), marking a significant uptick in oceanic heat.

But last month’s average surface air temperature globally was 16.90°C (62.42 F), making it only the joint second warmest July on record and tied with July 2024, Copernicus reported.

In Western Europe, meanwhile, the average temperature record for the June-July period hit 21.62°C (70.92 F), Copernicus said.

“Persistent high-pressure systems trapped heat over western Europe, the extreme temperatures also amplified widespread drought. As soils dry out, they lose their ability to provide natural cooling, allowing heat to build more readily,” said Samantha Burgess, strategic lead for climate at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts.

“This is a clear example of how climate change is intensifying heat extremes, with heat and drought increasingly reinforcing one another.”

DCLM Daily Manna 10 August 2026 — A Pivotal Moment

DCLM Daily Manna 10 August 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — A Pivotal Moment

TOPIC – A Pivotal Moment (DCLM Daily Manna 10 August 2026)

KEY VERSE: And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God – Acts 10:4

TEXT: Acts 10:1-8 (KJV)

1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band,

2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

6 He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

7 And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

8 And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:

Jack Wugman was walking down the beach one day. He saw an unusual glass bottle. He bent over and picked up the bottle. His life would be forever changed. There was a note inside, from a man named Singer, who invented and perfected the sewing machine. Singer penned a note, WHOEVER FINDS THIS BOTTLE SHALL INHERIT MY WHOLE ESTATE. The judge validated the note, and Jack inherited millions of dollars from a man he had never met. What if Jack never picked up the bottle? It definitely was a pivotal moment in Wugman’s life.

Not everyone reading this today has a bottle floating out there with a million-dollar inheritance, no. But there are pivotal moments God has set for each of our lives. A life-changing moment that is not orchestrated by man, nor induced by any goodness or nobility any of us may have in our history. Cornelius was said to be a devout man who gave alms to support people. He was not an Israelite, but a Roman soldier, a gentile, outside of the commonwealth of Israel. Being a centurion means he was a leader over 100 men. An angel was sent to him by God to acknowledge his devoutness and alms giving. Knowing that that wasn’t enough, he was directed to invite Apostle Peter to expound to him the gospel requirements for salvation more perfectly.

The text highlights the significance of understanding Cornelius’s character as the key to his esteemed relationship with God, which transcended his position as a centurion. Despite his military rank and prestige, Cornelius’s true legacy lay in his love for the Lord and his generosity. His devout lifestyle inspired others, yet it was emphasised that neither good deeds nor religious piety can secure salvation; faith in the Gospel is essential. The angel’s visit to Cornelius was not intended to preach the Gospel, as it is divinely decreed that those who have experienced salvation share the Gospel message, underscoring that salvation is a matter of grace through faith, not works.

The main lesson here is the need to impact the world with our resources. We are remembered for what we do for others. God has left a far more valuable treasure for us than whatever was promised by Mr. Singer in our introduction. God wants to use us to tell other people about this treasure. We need to urgently preach Christ to our neighbours. He is the only way to eternal life.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
He who shuns the offer of salvation makes vain the sacrifice of Christ.

Vital Exercises to Sustain Muscle for Men 55+

0

Concerned about muscle loss after 55? Incorporate these five daily exercises to maintain strength and vitality.

>

For men over 55, it’s entirely possible to preserve, and even build, muscle by maintaining a consistent workout regimen. The secret lies in sending your body regular strength signals without making each exercise session a test of endurance. By focusing on a handful of targeted exercises, you can effectively keep your muscles engaged and primed for action.

This routine is perfect for those who prefer a practical approach to training. It offers a comprehensive workout that balances upper-body pushes, leg strength, pulling exercises, hip dynamism, and core stability in a straightforward manner. Best of all, it doesn’t require a bustling gym environment or a complex plan to execute.

When putting together this workout, the goal is to select exercises that maximize benefits relative to time invested. The chosen movements should be simple to grasp, adjustable to fit different skill levels, yet robust enough to drive noticeable progress. These five exercises excel in all these areas.

Integrate these exercises into your routine three to five times a week. Most sessions should be balanced and manageable, but feel free to increase intensity on days when your energy levels allow for it.

4 Chair Exercises That Firm Arm Jiggle Faster Than Bicep Curls After 65

Push-ups

Push-ups help men over 55 keep upper-body muscle by training the chest, shoulders, arms, and core with one bodyweight movement. They’re also easy to scale, which makes them useful whether you’re rebuilding strength or already moving well. A strong pushup pattern supports everyday tasks that involve pressing, getting up, or catching yourself with your hands. Keep them in the routine because they give you a simple way to measure upper-body strength over time.

Muscles Trained: Chest, shoulders, triceps, core.

How to Do It

  1. Start in a high plank with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Set your feet hip-width apart.
  3. Brace your core and keep your body long.
  4. Bend your elbows and lower your chest toward the floor.
  5. Press through your hands to return to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the full set.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 6 to 12 reps.

Best Variations: Incline pushups, knee pushups, slow-tempo pushups.

Form Tip: Use an incline if the floor version makes your reps break down early.

Dumbbell Walking Lunge

The dumbbell walking lunge builds leg muscle while giving each side its own work. That’s a big deal after 55 because strength can fade unevenly, and single-leg training helps bring both sides back into the conversation. Lunges also train balance and coordination in a way that carries into walking, stairs, and athletic movement. Add dumbbells once your bodyweight reps feel smooth and steady.

Muscles Trained: Quads, glutes, hamstrings, calves, core.

How to Do It

  1. Stand tall with a dumbbell in each hand.
  2. Step forward with one foot.
  3. Lower into a lunge through a comfortable range.
  4. Press through your front foot to stand.
  5. Bring your back leg forward into the next step.
  6. Continue alternating legs.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps per leg.

Best Variations: Bodyweight walking lunges, reverse lunges, shorter-stride walking lunges.

Form Tip: Take a controlled step and avoid rushing into the next rep.

5 Morning Exercises That Tighten Waist Thickening Faster Than Crunches After 50

Bent-Over Rows

Bent-over rows help preserve the back muscle that supports posture, shoulder health, and stronger pulling. Men over 55 often benefit from more rowing because so much daily life pulls the shoulders forward. This exercise brings the upper back into the routine and balances the pressing work from pushups. It also gives your grip and trunk a useful job while you hold the hinged position.

Muscles Trained: Upper back, lats, rear shoulders, biceps, core.

How to Do It

  1. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart and hold dumbbells in front of your thighs.
  2. Soften your knees and hinge your hips back.
  3. Keep your torso angled forward.
  4. Pull the dumbbells toward your ribs.
  5. Squeeze your upper back briefly.
  6. Lower the weights with control.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps.

Best Variations: One-arm dumbbell rows, band rows, chest-supported rows.

Form Tip: Keep your shoulders away from your ears as you row.

Kettlebell Deadlift

The kettlebell deadlift is one of the most useful strength builders for men over 55 because it trains the hips, legs, and back through a strong hinge pattern. It helps maintain the muscle you need for lifting, carrying, and moving with more confidence. The kettlebell setup keeps the weight centered, which makes the movement approachable while still giving your body a serious strength stimulus. It’s a great daily option when the load stays reasonable and the reps stay sharp.

Muscles Trained: Glutes, hamstrings, quads, lower back, core.

How to Do It

  1. Stand with your feet about hip-width apart and place a kettlebell between your feet.
  2. Push your hips back and grip the handle with both hands.
  3. Brace your core.
  4. Press through your feet and stand tall with the kettlebell.
  5. Lower the kettlebell back to the floor with control.
  6. Reset and repeat.

Recommended Sets and Reps: Perform 2 to 3 sets of 8 to 10 reps.

Best Variations: Dumbbell deadlifts, elevated kettlebell deadlifts, suitcase deadlifts.

Form Tip: Keep the kettlebell close to your body from start to finish.

The Simple Ball Drill That Trains Your Brain to Prevent Falls After 60

Rhapsody Of Realities 10 August 2026: Express Your Faith

Rhapsody Of Realities 10 August 2026 By Pastor Chris Oyakhilome (Christ Embassy): Express Your Faith

TOPIC: Express Your Faith (Rhapsody of Realities 10 August 2026)

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation – Romans 10:10

Rhapsody Of Realities For Today’s MESSAGE:

Faith isn’t passive; it’s something you practice. If you don’t act your faith, it will not work. Faith is more than “believing,” so don’t stop at believing. The Word shows that believing is from the heart, but its expression must be deliberate: with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

There’ll be no salvation until you vocalise your faith. And salvation is much more than salvation from sin. It includes all the blessings that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ consummated for us. So, when you receive truth from God’s Word, don’t wait for circumstances to align before acting on it. Respond immediately.

Express your faith by aligning your thoughts, your words, and your actions with what God has said. God’s Word tells you who you are, what you have, and your ability in Christ Jesus; act accordingly and don’t wait for sensory confirmation. The Bible says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).

This means your life isn’t governed by what you see, feel, or experience in the natural; it’s governed by what you believe, and believing must be practised. If the Word says you have eternal life, then you live like one who has eternal life. If it says you’ve overcome the world, then you function from that position of victory.

The Word says you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; make that your constant confession. Faith is expressed in words and action. Don’t negotiate with feelings or circumstances; establish the Word. Affirm your faith. Some people acknowledge the Word but don’t practise it. But faith works through expression.

James 1:22 makes it clear, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only….” Doing the Word is practising your believing, expressing your faith. It brings the reality of the Word into manifestation in your life. It strengthens your faith to produce greater results. This doesn’t mean you’re trying to make God’s Word true; it’s already true. You’re simply aligning yourself with it and allowing its power to be manifested in your life.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your Word, which builds my faith and directs my life. I express my faith today by aligning my thoughts, words and actions with your Word. I walk by faith and not by sight, and I see your Word produce results in my life continually, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

James 1:22-25 (KJV)
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. [23] For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. [25] But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Mark 11:23 (KJV)
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

A chilling incident in North Dakota has led to severe charges against a mother accused of fatally stabbing her two young children. Described by police as a “horrific” scene, it left responding officers deeply shaken.

The accused, 22-year-old Kailey Erhart, reportedly killed her 5-month-old and 3-year-old children last Thursday, following a confrontation where she brandished a gun at her estranged husband and made threats against her own life.

A one-year-old was also attacked but survived the ordeal with significant injuries. This child required surgical intervention, though authorities have not provided updates on the child’s current condition.

Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler said the crime scene was likely one of the most horrific things his officers will ever see.

“A scene like that is something that nobody should ever have to see, and the way [the officers] came through in one of the most horrific times that they’ll probably experience in their life, I’m proud,” Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler said at a press conference.

“I want to acknowledge this is an extreme, tragic and heartbreaking incident for the children involved, their families, our community and first responders who arrived on scene,” he added. “Our thoughts are with everyone that were impacted.”

The kids’ father, who intended to file for divorce, was at home with their children when police were alerted that Erhart was threatening to end her own life, KFYR reported.

Earlier that day, Erhart threatened her husband with a gun she had recently purchased, but he was able to disarm her during a physical struggle, take the gun apart and scatter the pieces. Erhart bit and scratched him during the struggle, according to the report.

The children’s grandmother was at the home when the killings happened, telling police that Erhart chased her and the kids’ father out of the house with a knife before the alleged slayings.

Erhart faces nine charges, including two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault and terrorizing.

A judge set Erhart’s cash bond at $3 million, highlighting “the extreme violence in these alleged charges and the threat to the community, victims, and children,” according to KFYR.

The court also issued formal no-contact orders barring Erhart from contacting the surviving victims or family members.

Erhart’s preliminary hearing and arraignment are set for October 6.

A GoFundMe created to support the children and their father has raised more than $25,000 as of Sunday night.

“He is a father trying to survive something no parent should ever have to face,” the fundraiser created by the man’s mother reads. “I lost two precious souls in a devastating tragedy after they were murdered by their mother, and the pain is more than I can put into words. Every day, we are carrying unimaginable grief while also trying to stay strong for his surviving child, who is receiving ongoing medical care and facing challenges no child should ever have to endure.”

Mark Zuckerberg’s $300 Million Yacht Allegedly Ignored Distress Call from Stranded Boat in Alaska

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg finds himself under scrutiny following reports that his $300 million superyacht did not aid stranded passengers in Alaskan waters.

The 387-foot vessel, named Launchpad, reportedly ignored appeals for assistance when a 21-foot skiff ran out of fuel during a journey between Petersburg and Juneau, Alaska, on Monday night, as covered by the Alaska Beacon.

Ultimately, it was the Wilderness Legacy, a smaller cruise ship, that responded to the skiff in distress.

During the rescue operation, the captain of the Wilderness Legacy informed passengers aboard that Zuckerberg’s superyacht, although closer to the troubled craft than his own ship, had declined to assist, according to a passenger’s account.

The announcement was met with what vacationer Michael Love described in a Bluesky post as “near-unanimous booing” from those on board.

The tiny skiff had sent out a call for assistance around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard determined that the vessel wasn’t in distress but issued a marine assistance request broadcast about 30 minutes later.

Vessel-tracking services show that the Wilderness Legacy, operated by UnCruise Adventures, was farther away from the stranded vessel than Zuckerberg’s superyacht at the time, according to the Beacon.

It also shows the cruise ship sailing past Launchpad on its way to help the stranded ship — as the social media tycoon’s mega-yacht stays floating in the middle of the water, the outlet reported.

The stranded skiff was towed back to safety in protected Farragut Bay by the Wilderness Legacy.

Zuckerberg’s spokesperson insisted in a statement that the tech billionaire and his family were not aboard the ship — and that his yacht crew had been operating on a different radio channel.

“Mark and his family were not on board at the time of the incident,” the statement provided to the Beacon said.

“As the Coast Guard noted, the boat was not in distress, and by the time the crew reviewed the Coast Guard contact on a different radio channel from the one they were operating on, the assist was already underway. We’re grateful all parties are safe.”

In a shocking act of violence, a U.S. Marine reportedly attacked a woman in North Carolina, leaving her paralyzed from the neck down, after his romantic advances were spurned, according to her family.

“My niece called me, frantic and shouting, ‘Savannah, Savannah, unconscious,'” recounted Amanda Johnson, mother of Savannah Johnson, during an emotional interview with NBC affiliate WECT.

Isaac Ruiz, serving with the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, faces serious charges including assault by strangulation, assault inflicting serious bodily harm, and first-degree burglary. These charges stem from the brutal June 14 encounter in Wilmington.

The family of Savannah Johnson, 22, indicates that Ruiz’s violent outburst was the result of unrequited affection following a double date. Despite Ruiz’s apparent interest, Savannah did not reciprocate his feelings—a factor her family says spurred the alleged assault, as reported by Port City Daily.

“Obviously, he was stewing over that,” Savannah’s father, Ricky Johnson, told the local newspaper. “It’s quite shocking that it would go to this length just because she wasn’t interested in him.”

Police say Ruiz, 26, broke into the home where Savannah Johnson, who is from Michigan, was staying while on vacation. Ruiz allegedly pummeled and strangled Savannah Johnson before fleeing.

“The defendant unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did assault Savannah Johnson and inflict physical injury, C5-C6 fracture with ligament injury, T2-T6 compression fracture, vertebral artery dissection, and narrowing of the internal corroded artery by strangulation and assaulting the victim,” an arrest warrant says.

The 2nd Marine Division confirmed to WECT that Ruiz, a mortarman assigned to the 1st Battalion, was arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attack. U.S. officials say the division has been fully cooperating with the investigation.

According to Port City Daily, the Johnson family launched a Spotfund online fundraiser following the alleged assault to help with Savannah’s recovery costs, and Ruiz was listed as the top donor with a contribution of $2,000.

A message included with the donation says, “Each day that passes you don’t realize how much stronger you are becoming. It will be over before you know it.”

Police declined to comment when asked if they were aware of the post.

According to the Johnson family, Savannah is currently paralyzed from the neck down and is undergoing physical therapy to try to walk again one day.

“She’s giving it her all,” Amanda Johnson told WECT.
