David Bailey, who has been turning heads with an outstanding performance at training camp, may now face a potential obstacle.

During a late moment in Saturday’s intense intrasquad scrimmage, the dynamic edge rusher, who was the second pick in this year’s draft, appeared to sustain a minor ankle injury.

This incident occurred just as Bailey was concluding yet another impressive practice session, during which he recorded two near-sacks and consistently disrupted the offensive line.

His relentless pressure proved challenging for starting left tackle Olu Fashanu.

The exact moment of Bailey’s ankle injury remains a mystery.

After coming off the field, he received medical attention and was moving around on the sideline.

“I would say day to day, but let me make sure because … he got up and I think he jogged off,” coach Aaron Glenn said. “So, I would think it would be that.”

The Jets are hoping Bailey can elevate a pass rush that was 31st in the league a year ago with 26 sacks.

Last year at Texas Tech, he had 14.5 sacks.

Nobody was happier to see the Jets add veteran safety Minkah Fitzpatrick in the offseason than Malachi Moore.

The second-year safety grew up idolizing Fitzpatrick as a Trussville, Ala., native and Alabama football fan.

Moore, a fourth-round pick one season ago, attended Alabama too.

“For him to be on the team now is crazy,” he said. “Looking up to him coming out of high school, going to Alabama, he’s all over the walls up there and everything.

“I told him this funny story: When I first got to college, my first couple of days there, coach [Nick] Saban was calling me Minkah in film. I’m like, ‘Coach, it’s Malachi.’ In the back of my head, I’m thinking, if you’re going to mess my name up, call me anybody, Minkah is pretty cool.”

It was another productive practice for return specialist/receiver Isaiah Williams.

He caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith on a deflection and made four other receptions during the controlled scrimmage.

“Even though I love the kick return and punt return ability, man there’s some things he can do on our offense that, listen, we’re going to have to give him the ball some way,” Glenn said. “We got to figure out a way to make sure that he’s involved because he’s an explosive player.”

The sister of a man infamous for his violent antics in North Carolina has stepped forward, revealing her family’s desperate attempts to have him institutionalized after a series of troubling incidents. Her brother’s aggressive behavior has created chaos across their community.

Di-Quan Hunt, aged 32, found himself in legal trouble once again on Thursday, when he was apprehended for assault with a deadly weapon. Videos that have since gone viral on social media revealed him aggressively pursuing women, subjecting them to harassment, and allegedly engaging in physical violence, including slapping and punching a woman.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed that they had been actively investigating these incidents. Hunt’s arrest took place later that same day, bringing a temporary halt to his spree of fear.

Speculation has mounted regarding Hunt’s criminal history and the reasons behind his continued presence on Charlotte’s streets, despite his dangerous past.

Before this recent arrest, Hunt had already been jailed at least nine times in the last few years. His previous charges include assault with a deadly weapon, making threats, and violating restraining orders linked to domestic violence, as reported by WBTV.

His sister told ABC affiliate WSOC that Hunt has exhibited violent behavior with family members and they have been attempting to get him off the streets. 

She explained that she believes he has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, PTSD and bipolar disorder, but has refused to take medication. 

His sister, who declined to show her face on television or provide her name, told the outlet that he had a history of violence and recently started attacking random people in the Dilworth neighborhood. 

‘He completely just flipped, and that turned into violence. And we had to call the cops then,’ she said. 

Hunt’s sister detailed violent experiences where both she and her mother were victims. 

She added that they reported video evidence to police last Monday and contacted officers on Thursday to provide his location. 

She said that her family has struggled to get help for her brother, but has been stuck in a vicious cycle where he continues to be released after his arrests. 

His sister expressed concern that if Hunt is released back onto the streets without medication, his or someone else’s life may be at stake. 

She added that she hopes her brother’s victims see justice and that her brother’s actions have put her and her family’s lives at risk, citing instances of harassment from the public. 

One of the videos handed over to police depicted an assault on July 30 when a victim was punched on the sidewalk and later transported to a hospital with serious injuries, according to police. 

The video showed a woman lying on the sidewalk as she was repeatedly punched, nearly knocked unconscious, on East Boulevard in Charlotte.

In the footage, a man was seen walking down the street as the victim walked in the opposite direction. The video began with the suspect fuming, ‘That July 21st is the real issue n****.’

As the woman walked closer, the suspect struck her and she fell to the floor. He was then heard yelling, ‘You still talking?’ before he struck her face again and continued screaming.

Another viral video saw a man, alleged to be Hunt, confronting and harassing another woman walking down the street.

‘B***. You wanna run b***? You wanna run motherf***er,’ the man was heard saying, as the woman was videoed escaping onto the road behind a car.

‘Huh? I bet you run again motherf***er. You said something else? You said something… You Donald Trump motherf***er and that other motherf***er who (unintelligible) my son Elijah. I’m gonna f***ing kill you.’

A man who said Hunt threatened him last year at a Charlotte light rail station told WBTV that he had taken a plea deal and was sentenced to time served – a total of 89 days in the Mecklenburg County Jail.

‘He lifted his shirt up and I saw weapons. He had a gun, which police said they never found, he had a knife and a hatchet,’ the man told the outlet.

‘And he lifts the shirt up to show me what he’s got and he said, “Are you ready to die today?” I saw my life flash in front of my eyes. I didn’t know what to think. I was frozen, it felt like an eternity.’

When the victim went to court for a hearing, he said prosecutors told him he had been punished enough. 

Hunt was taken to a local medical facility for treatment after his arrest and will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Saturday its plan to equip every field officer and agent with a body camera by the end of August. This swift expansion aims to deliver an unparalleled visual account of the government’s immigration enforcement activities.

However, the decision to make this footage available to the public largely rests in the hands of ICE.

The agency justified its policy on body-worn cameras, responding to concerns regarding clauses that permit ICE executives to either withhold or indefinitely postpone the release of footage following incidents involving significant injuries or deaths in custody.

Acting Director David J. Venturella explained that these restrictions are designed to safeguard investigations and privacy, aligning with federal laws and the practices of other federal law enforcement agencies.

Venturella’s remarks were a response to an Associated Press report, highlighting ICE’s policy that includes a clause for the prompt release of footage if it is deemed to serve the “best interests of the agency” following serious injuries or custodial deaths.

Venturella said the AP “mischaracterized” the policy by conflating that provision with ICE’s broader authority to release body-camera footage. He said the policy clarifies that footage should not be released when doing so could compromise investigations or privacy.

The AP report did not say the provision governs every release of body-camera footage. It focused on ICE’s policy for releasing footage after some of the most consequential encounters with the public: those involving serious injury or death.

The AP sought comment from ICE before its initial story on Friday. The agency provided partial responses, without addressing the provision that footage would be released when in its “best interests.”

ICE has been under heightened scrutiny since the fatal shooting in July of a 25-year-old motorist in Maine by an ICE officer with a history of violent behavior. Days earlier, another ICE officer shot and killed a Houston homebuilder driving to work. Neither shooting was recorded with body cameras.

Venturella said ICE was “committed to transparency and accountability” and was “on track to equip every officer and agent in the field with body-worn cameras by the end of August.”

The AP quoted Christopher Schneider, a sociology professor at Brandon University in Canada, who said that selective releases are routine in some law enforcement agencies but usually not so clearly contemplated in policy. “In some ways, ICE is saying the quiet part out loud,” he said.

The story noted that ICE’s sister agency, Customs and Border Protection, has not released footage of the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis in January. CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott told lawmakers that it was part of an investigation and would be made public “when it’s appropriate.”
